- Dogan (10/5): -
- Bernhard (7/5): -
- Pedro (8/5): Great travel in time and confortable stay - Loved the decorations and the fact that was a true time travel.
Staff was very friendly
Everything was quite nice overall
Amazing piano nights Matress was quite unconfortable
Breakfast could be a bit improved
- Stephanie (8/5): - The location, the history of the Hotel, friendly staff. Skiing ticket of schatzalp is included in the hotel price - was a lovely ski slope with the strelapass restaurant on top. The hotel restaurant is extremely pricey and very small portions - we just came back from skiing and were hungry - l decided to try the ravioli for 33 CHF - l got like 6 small ravioli, it was good but not worth the expensive price - the rim of the plate was bigger than the actual portion - came across very pretentious and as 90's nouvelle cuisine. Not the right fit for us , we went down to Davos-and had a Pizza there as we were still hungry.

- Andreja Kaya (10/5): - Alles
- Stephan (8/5): - Wir kommen fast jedes Jahr einmal ins Hotel.
- Eleniana (9/5): Nostalgisch wunderschönes historisches Hotel - Ambiece, Aussicht, Einrichtung Auswahl Speisekarte
- de Pietro (8/5): -
- Georgios (10/5): - Schatzalp was in itself a journey! Journey into hospitality, architecture, nature, literature… finally into myth!!!

- Isidoro (6/5): Pleasant - The Building, if you are fan of Thomas Mann Der Zauberberg Last night we got sick and at 20:25h hotel could not provide (sell) anything to eat or a paracetamol. If you are an isolated hotel in a Mountain (you can't arrive by car) you need to be more resourseful. Personnel said they are sorry but didn't really seemed to care about us.
- Jose (9/5): Superb -
- Iwona (10/5): Exceptional - the architecture, location, spirit of the old time, amazing views, great food, nice staff, legenda around the place, vintage vibe everything was great!
- Błażej (6/5): A magical place, that's slightly crumbling, but that's OK as it's part of the charm. - There's magic in this hotel. One feels transported 100 or at least 80-70 years back in time, it is an art-nouveau gem, a capsule in time, with fantastic ambiance and beautiful interiors. The staff are extremely helpful and polite, giving a service much more appropriate for a 5 star establishment, and not a 3 star one - the status the hotel has now. Just looking out of the gigantic windows in the bar/foyer onto the fading light upon the mountains, while listening to Chopin being played on the piano and fire crackling in the fire place, sunbathing on the balcony, wandering the halls of the hotel and experiencing the "Magic Mountain" vibes is worth every penny! The breakfast was also amazing with plenty to choose from. And coming on and off the mountain via the hotel's funicular was something straight out of Wes Anderson's Grand Budapest hotel, which I feel the Schatzalp heavily inspired, just like it did Thomas Mann 100 years ago. So just be aware that this hotel requires a lot of imagination as it is in fact crumbling. There are no modern amenities of any king - even the radios in the rooms are at least 50 years old. It is all quite charming in fact, but for example all the rooms (even if clean) smell of the 100 000 of guests that passed through them through the ages (they are carpeted so small wonder). The family that owns the hotel stopped investing in it probably in the 70s (this was when our room was updated) and it really shows. Also - be aware that all rooms are different and that what you book on booking.com might differ from what you get (I booked something that looked like a charming room full of antiques and got a 70's room instead - it was fine, as the view from the balcony was great, but keep it in mind). Also - this is not a criticism, but if there isn't enough snow the private ski lifts are unusable (they do not have the ability to put artificial snow on the hotel's slopes) and also the sledge run gets closed for safety reasons. Make sure you take all this into consideration when booking. Also if this hotel were to be renovated the prices would make it unaffordable for mere mortals.
- Karin (10/5): Fabulous winter holidays - Beutiaful location, exceptional atmosphere Everything
- Dmytro (9/5): Must visit place if you’ve read Tomas Mann - Place is breathing with the history. Charm in every detail. Location and the views are fantastic Everything is super expensive. Last days of the year hotel was very crowded and noisy.
- Giovanni (8/5): Very good -
- Brigitte (8/5): Very good -
- Nelson (9/5): Wonderful views in an historical setting - Respect for history and tradition. Wonderful views of the mountains and an excellent restaurant. Nothing
- Von (10/5): A beautiful excursion into the past that has been made so well known by Thomas Mann - A most comprehensive breakfast with tasty offerings The facade of the hotel needs more attention (and lots of money for renovations)
- Daniel (10/5): Great hotel, the cats were very friendly - I loved meeting the cats, and it was great to see how well they were treated by the hotel staff. I would have liked to see even more cats.
- Anna (10/5): Just great - Simply a paradise in the mountains, it's my second time in the hotel and I can't wait to be back there, must be magical in the winter. Nothing, I love this place
- Seray (8/5): Location perfect, botaniums nice, Thomas Mann best - We really liked the atmosphere of the hotel. Location is perfect. We really enjoyed walking around the hotel and the botaniums were fantastic. Restaurant was fine. We enjoyed this classic Swiss hotel, but we did not like the unpleasant smell of the old room.
- Bahram (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hong (7/5): Good -
- Alan (9/5): Superb - Outstanding front desk
- Nira (9/5): Extraordinary - The hotel has a very special atmosphere, that can not be explained by words I think. The staff is top, very charismatic and professional. I loved the view from the hotel. The sauna in the spa could be more spacious. It was very crowded on saturday so that it was not enjoyable, there was no space to cool down and rest after the heat in the sauna. Also it was very cold in the rooms, luckily we got an extra heater for our room.
- Philippe (2/5): Very poor - Basic breakfast, no fresh juices Very unfriendly manager. Staff overstretched. Overpriced even for season. Not felt welcome being a guest.
Overdue mainteneance of hotel rooms and even lounge (broken sofas etc)
Owner seems.not to invest into property and staff
- Benjamin (10/5): Exceptional - Incredible and unique location. This should be on everyone's bucketlist for a once in a lifetime visit.
The air, the view and the silence are just incredible.
- Philippe (3/5): Needs urgent renovation works, friendly manager = friendly staff - Location, on the top of Davos The Hotel and Rooms were left in a nostalgic stay from the 40-ies/50-ies. So were the beds. The rooms at 850 CHF a night were minuscule and outdated. The walkway looks more like a sanatorium then a Hotel, overdue renovation are pending, with broken sofas and the like. And the staff seems to be stressed to the edge with their workload, where the (German) Manager of the Hotel was everything else than friendly and welcoming towards his guests staying and celebrating the year end in Davos.
- Philip (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jan (9/5): Superb -
- Vegard (10/5): Magic hotel from a lost era with wonderful views, friendly staff and unique interior - This hotel provides the rare experience of traveling back in time, with exquisite original furnishings and lavish interiors from a bygone time. Everyone familiar with Mann’s the magic mountain, will immediately recognize the inspirational material, and soon find him/herself on the «horizontal» position, enjoying the wonderful view, and possibly enjoying a Maria Mancini, walking in the footsteps of Hans Castorp. My stay was magical, and i look forward to coming back As the hotel is old, the condition of the hotel in some places may not be up to modern standards. However, this is part of the historic charm, and is in no way any meaningful disturbance
- Henning (10/5): Exceptional -
- Karolina (10/5): Exceptional - Again perfect stay at this great historic hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff.
hotel is not in Davos, which ensures fresh air, quietness and great views. To get there, you need to take the funicular, cable railway (fee included in the overnight cost). Separate parking area paid additionally within walking distance from the cable railway.
Everything is well maintained and clean, you can see the age and past glory which gives the hotel very unique character and atmosphere. Good enough breakfast buffet. Sorry that Panorama restaurant was not opened.
