Guest Reviews
- Mellisah (7/5): It was a very cool place closer to the sea as well - The room was clean and when we detected some faults they immediately changed it for us Nothing really
- Hannah (8/5): - The guesthouse itself is very beautiful and the personal is friendly.
- Deborah (4/5): Perfectly located for the famous castle - Located close to Elmina castle. Staff tried hard to make me comfortable but I was unable to stay the night. A little too rustic for me, lots of character but I need my home comforts. Bolt does not operate (taxi service like uber) in the area.
- Minerva (9/5): - the staff was amazing, the location is near the ocean and is really ejoyable
- Felix (10/5): Exceptional - We arrived at the place at midnight, but they opened up and checked us in. Also answered every question we had. The rooms are spacious, clean, and air-conditioning works all the time. Everything about Akomapa is art before getting to the place, I could tell from their sign board where I was heading to so if you are out to explore and have fun that's the best place to be.
- Marleen (6/5): Beautiful view, specious rooms but maintenance and food can be better. - The view from the balcony was really beautiful.
The staff was friendly and did their best to solve issues concerning the rooms. Some of the amenities in the rooms were not working.
The quality and quantity of the food was below expectations.
- Bernard (10/5): Great unit close to the beach. - We loved the fact there was air conditioning, a fridge, places to sit and even a TV. Just outside our room were places to sit and watch dancers practise and the beach. We could even use the pool at the resort next door for a fee. My son he didn’t want to leave paradise! As Canadians we are used to paying for bigger purchases with a credit card. A bank was rather far away to get cash and the bank’s limit to withdraw cash is only 1000 cedis a day.
- Sackey (3/5): Poor - I like the service of the receptionists named Gifty she's so kind and always there when we need help. She also helps us with directions as well as to navigate our going out and coming in.. So I said with her, she's very very EXCEPTIONAL What I didn't like about it is the manager he wasn't fare with us. When arrived and made the payment on that day there was a balance that supposed to be given to us and he kept it and I didn't know why but later I found out why. We bought food and drinks and we're going to pay for it and he told us that he is going to deduct it from the remaining balance which was fine. So we did our calculations and know we still have balance with him. But we want to buy something else and the receptionist told us that we don't have anything left why because when he went to change the dollar into cedis, the rate went down so we don't have anything left and that for me is un called for. He shouldn't do that to any gust that come to stay in hotel. Secondly he should see to it that water is flowing by buying a poly tank container to run the water through the lines in the hotel. Lastly the settings on the air-conditioned should be 72F and not 80F it's hot in the room.
- Alavanyo (3/5): Poor -
- Dirk (8/5): Good stay and helpful staff - At the time, there was no running water in Elmina in general but owner and staff were very helpful by supplying water in buckets No running water but this was not a fault of the lodge
- Euwin (7/5): happy - clise to the beeach
good food smelt like mould in the room
stafff reluctant to help ocupants
Dirty towells in the room
- Nenneh (7/5): Good - Very friendly staff and very nice view!
- Euwin (4/5): Disappointing -
- Giuseppe (7/5): Fine Hostel in Elmina for short trip. - The property is right by the beach and offers meals that have to be pre-ordered. Located in Elmina, 10 min by foot from the main road connecting Cape Coast and Takoradi. The hostel is a little remote and doesn’t have almost anything around it like eateries. The beach in front is not accessible due to a large rock wall. The room was cleaned ok.
- Marc (7/5): Good -
- Erika (8/5): Very good - Akomapa is an affordable option in thep neighbourhood. The rooms have the essential amenities. There is a lovely terrace where you get breakfast. Friendly staff!
- Kessels (8/5): Very good - Nice airy room with seaview. Selfbuild stone house accomodation, unique and artistic!
- Marya (7/5): Good - Very good location. Beautiful view. We had to wait for a very long time for food.
- Richmond (1/5): Very dirty environment - Nothing Everything about Akomapa.
- Harrison (1/5): Bad -
- Shelly (8/5): Very good - The breakfast was excellent. The view and location would bring me back again. The staff was also very helpful. I wouldn’t order the dinner again even though the breakfast was delicious.
- Owusu (6/5): pleasant and welcoming will any day recomment - The caretaker is nice, ladies who work there are also nice. will recommend any day The air condition was full and brought water to the room.
- Connie (8/5): Very good -
- Marc (6/5): Pleasant - People was nice and kind... No water running for showers..need a little more love..new paint will be great..
- Mr (9/5): Great value for Elmina - Friendly staff and very helpful (just confirm all taxi costs before allowing them to arrange transport for you). The hotel is great in the way it helps local children develop dance and musical skills. Very convenient for the beach and about a 20 minute walk to the castle.Good value for money. The small overhead fan was ineffective as it was not over the bed but there was a good breeze from the sea during the night which helped to keep the room cool. No WiFi
- Sarah (9/5): very nice stay and very welcoming and friendly people -
- Piotr (10/5): Exceptional - Akomapa Village was a simple, but perfect place for us. Located on the sea coast, with the nice seabreeze, so we resigned form the aircon. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the unique atmosphere of this place, so we decided to extend our stay.
- Pertinia (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ann (7/5): Stunning bargain for people who like people and don’t need luxury. - A amazing price for a good location. The staff was beyond helpful and kind. Shout out to Jerry, in particular, but everyone was courteous and thoughtful. The breakfasts were fine, served on a balcony overlooking the ocean. Water and other drinks available at the small bar. The room was clean and the AC worked well. The location was great, about a half hour walk along the fishing village road and chaotic Liverpool Road to the astounding St George Castle in Elmina. It’s also a 3 or 4 minute walk in the opposite attention to Coconut Grove Resort, where you can buy an inexpensive day pass to enjoy the swimming pool, beach and facilities. It’s also home and rehearsal space to a troupe of dancers and musicians. Locally owned. Everyone is trying very hard to help. It is a modest place. NO WIFI, some trip hazards. But small things could easily be fixed. For example, add at least one lamp to supplement the single light bulb in the room. Add simple hooks or shelves so people can hang towels or clothing or set down toiletries. The pillows were awful. Maybe get some new ones. Thanks for Jerry for finding me a better one.
- Hasina (9/5): Staff was very friendly and helpful, and accommodating . - Breakfast was good. Loved the location next to the beach. The first room we stayed in, the bed was really uncomfortable. We asked to switch rooms and they complied. The bed in the second room was much better.
- Abu (7/5): Very good hospitality - It was very cool Everything
- Marc (6/5): Pleasant - Location Bed needs a better bed cover and room need second towels
- Marcia (1/5): Sexual touching from owner - The room was big with an ocean view The owner forced me a cuddle and kissed me in my neck after he give me a couple of welcome shots for free. I pushed him away and said no no no. When I told him about it the day after he was laughing about it. I told him to keep his hands to himself when I checked out and he said oh okey.
- Tim (10/5): The best value hotel in Ghana! - Amazing value and the staff have an amazing project on their hands here. They offer a cheap pick up service and it's all about sharing Ghanaian culture with the world. You can look out at the waves crashing whilst sitting on the outside sofa on the balcony. Because it was so cheap we didn't expect much but trust me, it's great
- Julia (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was all very nice and helpful, we could make requests for dinner and breakfast and our special wishes for a vegetarian diet were taken into account. The food was overall very good. The room where we stayed was charming and calm.
There are some school kids of different ages who get to eat dinner at the viallge every evening, who were very funny and tought us how to play the drums and some local dances. All was perfect!
- Adu-yeboah (8/5): Very good - I loved the whole place We lost our way a bit. Maybe management could make a few signboards to direct first timers.
- Adjoa (7/5): Good -
- Adu-yeboah (7/5): Good - The sound of the ocean. The road to the guest house, we got lost for a bit.
- Adu-yeboah (7/5): Good - The sound of the ocean The road to get to the Guest House, we lost our way for a bit.
- Janet (7/5): Enjoyed my stay there, friendly and helpful staff. The view of the ocean is just lovely. -
- Raphael (8/5): Friendly and nice place - Super friendly and helpful host, nice place where you can also enjoy kids dance show. No air conditioning in budget room but it was clean and fairly comfortable for the price. Good breakfast. Pretty close from Elmina Castle. Excellent value for money.
- Tessa (7/5): A great time for a best price due to use ofthe facilities of the coconut groove. - The team was like family, taking good care and supporting. The environment was safe and friendly. The accommodation is in progress but the facilities if the neighbouring high end lodge were accessable. Room facilitiesa
- Isaac (10/5): Sea side hostel with great value for money and entertainment to offer as well -
- Bethanu (10/5): Magical, beach beauty, musical wonder and dancing joy! - I loved this special guesthouse so much. The staff and the community of dancers made my trip SO very special. I couldn't have asked for a more welcoming and friendly experience. The fact that I had to leave!
- Marin (7/5): Good -
- Samuel (7/5): Good -
- Paula (8/5): Very good -
- Kitchell (6/5): i stayed here by accident and liked the staff and the fact that they are an arts center where you can also meet local ki - I like that this place is actually a local social community space and arts center. it’s near the beach and has potential to become a true hotspot for people who want to have a local experience. it’s not that I did not like it, but the place is also a little in development. they are renovating some things and that takes some time.
- Nesi (8/5): Very good -
- Anonymous (8/5): clean, descent water pressure, and the sun heats up the water. TVs in room are unnecessary. Good accommodations for the - convenience to Elmina Castle and market, view of the sea, private bathroom, mostly helpful staff, easy access to Coconut Grove Resort’s restaurant, chance to see performances, smoothies menu choices (except for the smoothies), no schedule for when dance and drum classes are actually available, assumption that travelers from the states can’t or won’t walk anywhere or are incapable of taking public transport like a shared taxi. I felt like the staff tried to pressure me into a private car for everything, multiple times, and charge too much for that service. I easily could have walked to or from my destinations so many times.
- Anonymous (8/5): great customer service and basic rooms - the owner was so friendly and very helpful when recommending things for the local area.
it is right next to the sea so the view is beautiful.
very cheap compared to other places in the area.
it is a 30 minute walk to Elmina castle from the property so very convenient. rooms could do with some renovation, it didn’t feel that clean but it is also very cheap so I guess you get what you pay for. it was still fine.
- Ben (4/5): The staff was good, basic requirements were not there door was no proper lock - Door lock very bad anyone can walk in no tv in the room old fan bed not good hotel was off of everything not much access food is delayed too much Door need a new lock, bed better could have been, window musquito screen broken, bed it goes low after sometime hurts the body
- Nashide (10/5): Exceptional -
- Abbey (5/5): It was quite good thx. - Lights was not stable. Water comes to the room after bathing. Kitchen not well stuffed, bathrooms door not good. No ventilation from room. Water tanks not available. Poor way of storing water. No wardrobes in the room to hang dresses. I like the concept of the village settings but more can be done to it. I like the ambiance, the see view and all. I like the young man responsible for the place. Very hard working and serviceable. He has a great future
