- Christoph (7/5): Unglaublicher Ausblick und tolle Erlebnisse - Tolle Lage mit einem unglaublichen phantastischen Ausblick, tolle Elephantentracking Schlechtes WLAN
- geert (9/5): Voor herhaling vatbaar - Vriendelijk personeel, prachtig uitzicht

- Daphne (10/5): - O Lodge superou todas as expectativas.
- Friedhelm Frank (5/5): Drive there and up might be worth for one night - Location Cost/Performance Ratio and Food / Dinner first evening was disappointing
Wjazd do Lodge) całe szczęście, że nas tam dowieźliście z parkingu(, radzimy skorzystać z podwózki). - Widok, widok, widok!!!!
Obsługa, jesteście niesamowici!!!
Oglądanie drogi mlecznej w nocy Nie mamy uwag
- Monika (9/5): - Aussicht einmalig, nettes Personal
- Tomas (10/5): - Really stunning view, very good food, nice staff. The room was small but cosy, the view is really rare. Quite expensive, but dinner and breakfast was included. The route to the lodge is challenging :-)
- Annett (10/5): -
- Maud (10/5): Absolument exceptionnel - L emplacement exceptionnel ..un décor à la « out of africa « la gentillesse du personnel .. les attentions ..le drive au coucher du soleil …magique !! Incroyable…fantastique !:) Rien
- Robert (10/5): -
- Fleure (9/5): -

- Fay (8/5): A must-visit location while touring Namibia - Amazing location and views, super friendly staff, food was good, pool was beautifully cool. Community owned and clearly proud owners. Beautiful black Verreux Eagles Missing plug points by bed, patio seats could be more comfortable, no fridge in room, should have an overhead fan in rooms instead of standing ones.
- Sementa (8/5): -
Blick in Canion unübertroffen! Sundowner Fahrt mit spektakulärem Blick Eigentlich nichts. Ein sehr einfaches Lodge.
- Rosie (9/5): -

- Benninger (10/5): Amazing time thank you - staff is very friendly
Everybody is so helpful and tries the best to make it a wonderful stay
- Philippe (9/5): - Le site est incroyable !
Les chambres sont top.
Personnel super gentil.
- Ancia Schroder (10/5): - It was an amazing stay! The setting was magical, the staff were incredible, and a very thoughtful gift basket made our honeymoon extra special. We’ll never forget the warmth and care we felt at Grootberg — truly a highlight of our trip!
- Felix (10/5): -
- Helen (8/5): - Fantastisk beliggenhet. Ganske overpriset i forhold til andre steder. Her betaler man for utsikten.
- Lauren (10/5): -
- Thomas (9/5): - The view and the hospitality. You felt really welcome and very warm atmosphere.
- Asta (10/5): -
- Roger (10/5): Gut geführte Lodge an einmaliger Lage und köstlicher Verpflegung - - Grosszügiges Familien-Bungalow mit spektakulärer Aussicht
- sehr freundliches Personal
- Bram (10/5): Exceptional - Staff is excellent
Food is delicious
View is absolutely gorgeous Bad wifi connection
Our payment was very difficult to complete due to bad wifi connection which caused a minor inconvenience.
- Silke (9/5): Amazing view and best game steak in Namibia - The location is amazing. The view over the valley is a highlight of our trip.
The way up to the property is a bit challenging, but was worth experiencing yourself.
The staff was so friendly, they even gave a surprise singing performance.
The food was a menu with local game, that was cooked straight on point. Compliments to the chef! Best game steak we had in Namibia! The stay is quite expensive.
- Amandine (9/5): Superb - The view from the lodge is just amazing, especially with the amount of rain we’ve got this year.
The chalet was comfy, it would have been nice to have a double bed as a couple.
The food at breakfast & dinner was very good ! The pool was cold, it was more a cold plunge!
The rhino safari was very long + 10hours, it takes you 2 hours of driving before reaching the start of the game drive, and we didn’t see rhino..
it was also pricey for the experience in my opinion!
Also the ride was extremely bumpy (not recommended for old people)
- Stefan (9/5): You cannot have a better view! Damaraland is spectacular but scarce of animals. - Amazing location, amazing food! We did the rhino tracking, which is organized by the lodge, and took about 10 hours through very rough terrain. The guides tried very hard, but failed to find any animals besides one giraffe. The rhinos are very shy, and sightings are scarce. Don't go unless you are a rhino fanatic.
- Erwin (10/5): Wondermooie plek - Wonderful staff. Also deep respect for Sarah she was very helpful. We get on the way in so much troubles because of the floods. She try to explain the area's to drive safe, directions and options.
She is for the lodge very important. Also the food excellent. The view and accommodation great.A place to return back for in the near future. The rooms with outstanding views&very clean. The full staff very friendly.Baie Baie dankie.
- Andrea (10/5): Wonderful stay - would highly recommend - Absolutely amazing location. Fabulous rooms all with lovely views and comfy facilities. Food was lovely and restaurant facilities good. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. Would highly recommend just a small thing - there was no hairdryer on site!
- Hans (1/5): Bad - We are very unhappy with Grootberg Lodge. We had a booking there at the time when all rivers were flooded, roads were flooded or were washed away. We tried to contact them from two days in advance to find out what the situation was like on the ground. Three times by email via booking.com, three times by phone that was not answered and once via an emergy mobile number. Everything was in vain. When we didn't show up yesterday, no one tried to find us where we were and whether we were safe at all. I have rarely experienced something so disinterested and not decent.
- Olivia (10/5): An unforgettable stay. - This lodge offers an incredible stay at a beautiful remote and stunning location. The staff are extraordinary. So kind, helpful and informative. The food is delicious, the rooms are breathtaking and the experiences they offer are once in a life time. A special thank you to our guide Calvin, who explained the magic of the landscape and wildlife of Damaraland. Thank you Grootberg!
- Emily (10/5): A must go for an unforgettable experience - The lodge is in the most stunning location with views for miles and miles which blew us away. It felt like a slice of paradise and the icing on the cake was tracking a black rhino. A wonderful place and we loved our stay.
- Wasiem (10/5): Paradise in the mountains of Namibia - Simply amazing. And the best about it is that the entire project is owned by the local community. We fully recommend you allow yourself a stay. You don’t regret it! -
- Jonathan (10/5): Great stay in stunning location - Amazing setting. Lovely staff. Delicious dinner. Pool with best view Some of fittings a bit tired.
- Thomas (10/5): fantastic views - fantastic views from the lodge and each bungalow into the canyon, nice pool with view, good food, friendly staff. Challenging last 100m, but with 4x4 no problem. nothing
- Eva (10/5): I highly recommend to book at least one night in Grootberg lodge. It is a hidden gem of Namibia. The staff was exception - Absolutely amazing location. The separate chalet has a very cozy interior and the view is just stunning.
- Jeff (10/5): Exceeded all expectations -
- Kalooji (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gracious (8/5): Very good -
- Jose (9/5): Superb - The view over the valley
- Kamila-k (9/5): Superb -
- Andrea (10/5): Fantastic. Just do it! - The view the view the view. Lovely staff. The filet steak was to die for. Excellent
- Joanne (10/5): Absolutely superb in every way! - Beautiful lodge looking out over absolutely incredible views, as does the wonderful refreshing infinity pool. Fabulous food, lovely warm, friendly staff who sang and entertained after dinner! The elephant tracking experience was amazing!
- Brigitte (10/5): Exceptional - The view, the lodge and the great staff! The pool location and the covered deck.
The breakfast and the dinner as well as the sundowner ride on the plateau of Grootberg ! I will be back! The up/down ride with the driver ;). Nothing! I will be back !
- Dufour (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was superb. The staff was professional and obliging, and the view was spectacular. It was not an issue for us, but anyone with limited mobility would have a hard time. This is not a criticism.
- Ernst (10/5): Exceptional - It was a great stay, excellent location and view, great food,
very enjoyable singing/dancing entertainment during dinner,
very friendly and professional staff😁👍☀️
- Monica (10/5): Namibian gem and best steak ever! - Stunning views, unbeatable steak, and exceptional staff – this community-run lodge in Namibia has it all. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and kindness. Knowing our stay supports the local community made it even more special. Highly recommend!
- Sharyn (7/5): Was ok - Magnificent views The paths to the room were extremely uneven and a long way away..Not safe at night. The road to the lodge was not kept well and potentially dangerous . Food average
- Natalia (7/5): Incredible views and staff, place a bit run down - The view is magnificent and the sundowner is a must do! The staff is lovely and caring. The place is a bit run down and value for money this is just too expensive but the view and kind staff make it absolutely worth it and I recommend a night here
- Shumaila (7/5): Good -
- Yizhou (9/5): Superb -
- Liz (6/5): Pleasant -
- Sarah (9/5): Stunning Views, amazing location but very basic rooms. - Absolutely stunning views!
The pool and the main lodge are great!
Also the view from your private terrace is just amazing. The service is super friendly, we even got a singing and dancing session from the kitchen staff and waitresses. The food was delicious. The rooms have seen better days, don‘t expect modern furniture.
The chairs on the terrace have partly been broken, which is a bit sad if you would like to enjoy the private view. A bit overpriced.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tsz (8/5): Very good - At top of the mountain, good view from the room. Meals provided are a bit salty. Rooms are small and room rate is very expensive.
- Oliver (10/5): Exceptional -
- Baudouin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Erik (7/5): Good - Beautifull view, nice accommodation no power in the rooms, too expensive for what you get
- Mik--74 (10/5): Exceptional - Super Staff
Amazing place
- Aksana (10/5): Exceptional - just amazing! the view is breathtaking, personnel is very kind, wonderful place to stay the view
- Elizabeth (9/5): Beautiful Damaraland location - The view is incredible. You need 4WD to get to the lodge, but if you don’t have it, they will drive you up. I think it was charming. The food was good. Staff was kind and attentive. The family room was spacious, but the walls were open on top so there wasn’t much privacy between bedrooms and bathroom.
- Kateřina (9/5): Superb - The location is exceptional and you just have to spend the night here because of view. Other things are less important. You just sit and look to the canyon. You can search for elephants with binoculars.
Food was tasty, breakfast was good for us. The pool was cold but we enjoyed it.
You can arrive with 4x4 vehicle or there can be arranged transport from the parking. There are a lot of stuff but check in was little tricky. I would like to have more informations about activities, everyone told me anything different about morning hike. But we really enjoyed our stay and I recommend this lodge to everyone.
- Rory (10/5): Exceptional -
- Harald (8/5): Very good -
- Barbora (8/5): Nice lodge with good view - it is nice small chalets with beautiful view. Very good breakfast and dinner. staff at restaurant and reception was very friendly and helpful. we did desert elephant tracking which was the worst experience in Namibia, they took us in middle of villages driver wasn’t very friendly and the guy who should track the elephants get lost so instead of elephants we was trying to find him and we didn’t see any wild animals and we didn’t even found the tracker. so my opinion don’t do this activity!
- Kristofer (9/5): Superb - Amazing location and unbeatable views! The staff is also super friendly. The rhino trekking start very early, so if you're planning to do that stay a couple of days
- Arthur (10/5): A site that will never by forgo. - Fabulous design that blends in with the surroundings with breathtaking views. nothing to dislike.
- Marek (8/5): Very good - great view missing ceiling above the toilet in the room
- Fabrice (7/5): Beautiful view but too expensive for the value - the view the rooms were not clean, not electricity in the room. Pricey for simple bungalows.
- Gilles (7/5): Good - Thé panorama view The bead the matelas was on curve cannot sleep
The design of the room is very old need to change
- Jovana (9/5): Lion King Views and breathtaking surroundings - stunning location, and if you can’t make it up there they have 4x4s that will take you there once on the property.
bathroom and rooms are super clean and nice to sleep in. i was afraid of birds, lizards, and snakes. thankfully I didn’t see any otherwise i would have a heart attack. this of course is normal in nature, so just be aware that it’s a natural place, so that might happen. it may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
also, poor internet connection, but again- you’re supposed to enjoy the nature.
- Igor (10/5): Exceptional -
