Guest Reviews
- karen (10/5): Very comfortable, very clean everything that we needed. -
- Beverley (9/5): Just what we wanted - Very clean, comfortable, quiet and within easy reach of Cheddar Gorge, Wells, Glastonbury etc. Lovely little garden to front of property. Found excellent pub called The George in nearby Wedmore for evening meals. Lack of coat hooks and no dustpan and brush. Ceramic hob was a bit challenging, but these are small things and didn't really detract from our stay.
- Gyongyver (8/5): Lovely rural accommodation with views from the nearby field. - The outdoor playground and the field right next to the property are lovely. The accommodation is comfortable and has games and books for children. It is well equipped and has a friendly cottage feeling to it.
- Jess (8/5): Good - It was quiet and in a very pleasant setting.
- Adil (8/5): Amazing 🤩 - Lovely location, stunning views!! Wasn’t expecting that!! The beds were too soft and spongy, they suck you in which is no good for your posture and especially if you have a problematic back.
- Sue (9/5): A very enjoyable stay in a good location for visiting Cheddar, Glastonbury and Wells. Hope to return - Very clean, tasteful decor, well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and seating, TV, excellent shower and heated towel rail, good hairdryer, use of vacuum cleaner, good location, access to adjacent field, lovely views, outside table & chairs, key coded gated entry Nothing of any importance
- Tracy (9/5): Just like the photos. Good communication from host. - Good location for exploring and near lovely village
- Kate (9/5): -
- Graham (10/5): Lovely cottage, clean, quiet and very comfortable - Very nice and quiet. Very comfortable and clean. Hopefully we’ll go back sometime. A bit pricey but it was fine.
- James (8/5): Great location and ideal for young families - Lovely little cottage for our young family, with a playground in the field and books and toys provided inside. Had a washing machine and dishwasher to make things easier as well!
Ideally located to explore cheddar, Glastonbury etc.
Wedmore village has a small shop for essentials and some nice pubs nearby, pizzas were excellent at The Swan!
- Tammy (9/5): Fabulous Stay in a wonderful cottage - Beautiful modern comfortable cottage in lovely surroundings. The cottage provides everything you need , and there is a fabulous play area for children. Would definitely stay again All was fabulous, although a slight moan would be that one of the single mattresses was really uncomfortable, you could feel all of the springs. Thankfully, we could use the other bed.
- PR (8/5): -
- Stella (7/5): We loved our stay, perfect for our intentions to visit cheddar and Wookey hole. We added City of Wells into our trip too - Pretty surroundings with great view from the adjoining field. Relaxed setting with outdoor seating. Close enough to local attractions (car drive) Not close enough for short walk to any local amenities as on a road with no easy pedestrian walkway.
- Antony (10/5): Great location for kids, couldn't be better -
- sarah (9/5): I wish we stayed longer, so relaxing. - The property is a beautiful cottage in a fantastic location, country side and lots of shops within a short driving distance.
it was clean, nice outdoor space, parking and very secure.
we had friendly neighbours from the adjacent property no disturbances from them.
we were welcomed with some lovely local produce, we cheated and did Glastonbury with a real bed, great choice as we slept very well. we cooked we ate. Dishwasher and washing machine if needed.
I had a very nice stay. The bathroom was lovely and clean.
The bath was difficult to get into as the shower screen is a bit annoying. I usually need a handrail to get in the bath, hubby had no problems with it.
- Sukha Oils (10/5): A beautiful well kept cottage with owners that truly care x - We were lucky to see a beautiful full moon when we stayed in July It was just all so wonderful

- Scott (10/5): Amazing, look forward to coming back again. - The cottage was very welcoming and had a nice homely feel to it. Very clean, bed was very comfortably. Really liked the location and within 5 min drive to amenities. N/A
- Gill (10/5): A lovely property in a good location and great to have outdoor space too. - The keys were in the door. After a long journey, it would have been lovely to have had some tea bags and milk available as we have experienced at other properties. We had to go out again to get these. However, the juice and jam were a lovely touch, thank you.
- Jan (8/5): A very comfortable stay. - A very comfortable self contained property. Had everything we needed.
Host left bottle of local cider and jams which were a lovely touch. N/A
- Concetta (10/5): Cosy cottage - The location , very close to the Cheddar gorges and coves. Cosy cottage, clean and well equipped. Lovely space outside with play area. Easy check in.
- Robert (9/5): Excellent value base for the Cheddar/Wedmore/Mendips/Avalon Marshes - Great location for exploring an area with many attractions
- David (10/5): Exceptional -

- Chappell (10/5): very clean, wonderful location, everything perfect. -
- Zanzara (9/5): Family getaway - The cottages were so quaint and beautiful. The scenery and especially the bushes where you could watch the bees do their amazing job. There wasn't anything
- Julie (8/5): Wonderful hideaway haven - The host left the keys in the door, communication was very good. The property is lovely, comfortable and served a peaceful purpose. Wedmore is a beautiful area and is ideal as a base for exploring.
- Nerissa (9/5): Relaxing. Peaceful. Just what the Dr ordered! - The cottage was beautifully decorated and very comfortable with great attention to detail. The host provided a detailed welcome pack of literally everything you'll need or want to know for your stay. Thoroughly recommend, especially for families. Great location for Cheddar Gorge and for exploring Somerset. Just gutted the weather wasn't good enough to go to the beach. Nothing. Loved our stay here.
- Les (8/5): Clean very pleasant property. - The pillows on the double bed were hard and to big. On the single beds there was only one pillow per bed
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Richard (9/5): Awesome stay wonderful accommodation excellent location -
- Colleen (10/5): Peace and comfort rolled up in one. - The cottage is really well equipped and beautifully situated, very peaceful. It’s very close to Cheddar and a great place for exploring from. We all loved the property, it’s the perfect place to relax.
- Brar (10/5): Ashton Cottages - The location was perfect, not far to travel to the places we wanted to visit, it was a lovely clean cottage and a quiet location. Front garden had table and chairs so we could sit outside and enjoy our breakfast and evening drinks. Having Netflix was good. Lovely views from the field next to the cottage. Great place also to stay with children as there's a play area at the top of the field. Nice having some complimentary drinks and jam's left for us. Definitely would stay there again. Maybe a small coffee table would be good just to put your drinks on.
- Susan (10/5): Perfect, quiet and comfortable - Beautiful cottage in country setting. Short drive to gorge and surrounding villages. Excellent local produce on arrival instead of toiletries (everyone brings their own anyway) far enjoyed the ciders and jams! Make sure you take a walk up the hill in the back field. Stunning local views over the valley. No complaints
- John (9/5): Lovely stay in a good location . Our granddaughter loved it . - Nice compact, clean property with everything we needed .
- Leslie (10/5): Excellent visit. - N/A All good!
- Chrissy (10/5): Exceptional - Quiet, beautiful, clean, it was perfect
- Sara (9/5): Zebra horse view in Wedmore. - The facilities were great, everything you need for a break away. The guest book was very informative and welcome note with local produce was a lovely touch too. We didn't have the best night's sleep while staying at Ashton Cottages, as the mattress on the double bed (cottage 2) could do with being upgraded/replaced. The springs were very evident when lying in it. Our 10yr old son/grandson said exactly the same about his bed after our first night there. I may add that we are a tall family but not by any means "portly".
- James (9/5): Superb -
- Hayden (10/5): We had a very enjoyable stay here. - The location was very good. Easy access to Amenities and places to visit. A nice place in a nice setting. Good views from the top of the field at the play area. Very informative folder of places to visit, eat etc Nothing
- Marie (9/5): Lovely cottage, beautiful countryside. - The property is one of two lovely little cottages, tucked away behind the main house. It was clean and relatively well-equipped. The wifi is excellent and the shower is great. The countryside around the area is beautiful and Wedmore is a very nice little town. The noise from the road was a bit annoying (it's close to a biggish road between Cheddar and Wedmore). The next-door cottage is right next door, and this raises some privacy issues. It didn't bother us during our stay because our neighbours were very quiet and considerate, but I can see that this could be an issue.
- Bkh9 (10/5): Delightful holiday cottage. - The property was clean and nicely furnished, ideal for a relaxing break. A hairdryer would have been handy.
- Jacqueline (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage was in a secluded location. Its garden was in a sunny spot, so morning coffee and evening drinks, making it a perfect place to relax after a day out. The inside of the cottage had everything we needed. The shower/bath was powerful . The bed was firm and comfortable. It was home from home for us. I'm definitely going back. Nothing. But if you want a local shop or pub you need to drive there.
- Smith (10/5): Wonderful stay - Spotlessly clean accommodation, beautifully presented in a perfect location for all that Somerset has to offer but also very peaceful. Stunning views from the fields, watched the sunrise most mornings. Cannot fault
- Mark (9/5): Superb -
- Dawid (9/5): Superb -
- Deborah (10/5): A lovely stay, didn’t disappoint in any way and would highly recommend staying at Ashton Cottages. - Really lovely cottage, clean, comfortable and very nicely furnished and adorned. Beautiful outlook and very accommodating hosts.
- E (8/5): Very good - Clean , everything you would need
- Gemma (10/5): Exceptional - Peaceful, good views, everything we needed in the cottage
- Desjardins (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natasha (8/5): Brilliant cottage, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend and come again! - Great location. Fantastic hill just next to the accommodation with incredible views over the valley and hills. We loved walking up here in the evenings. Very attentive hosts who helped replace a broken lamp instantly. Fully equipped kitchen and very comfy beds and sofa and all spotlessly clean. Nice outdoor seating area for the evenings with a shaded parasol for when it was cooler (we were visiting in a crazy heatwave, so it was nice to have the shade!). Lots of books and games and films available for entertainment, and great tips on places to visit (we didn't realise when we booked just how much there was to see and do in the area!) The bathroom door was very creaky which made it awkward if anyone needed the toilet in the night, for fear of waking everyone up.
The electric hob was quite slow to heat water, but that is standard for electric hobs (We are lucky to have gas at home!)
There wasn't any washing up liquid provided, though there were dishwasher tablets. It might have been handy to have a washing up liquid available for the few items we didn't want to put in the dishwasher or needed immediately.
It was a bit difficult to get the water to come out of the shower rather than the bath tabs at times, but it was ok once we got the hang of it! There wasn't any soap provided, but the towels were really comfy.
- Laura (10/5): Would rebook in a heartbeat! Fantastic experience - Everything was lovely with a personal touch from the owners too! So accommodating, beautiful location and central to everything we wanted. Property is well equipped and was extremely clean and neat. Little playpark was ideal for our little girl and the veiw from the hill was stunning. Lovely courtyard for evening dining! Wouldn't hesitate to recommend or book again! Only thing (being hyper hyper critical) was some uneveness in the kitchen cabinet making us unable to open the cutlery drawer without having pushing on the side cupboard.
- Carolyn (10/5): Fabulous long weekend away in a cosy, comfortable cottage in an excellent location. - Excellent location, very quiet and peaceful, but so easy to get to tourist spots. cottage had everything that you needed for a holiday. Can’t think of anything.
- Petra (9/5): Realy nice and comfortable cottage. -
