- Kiran (10/5): Family run, affordable and well equipped. - Run by a lovely family who were so helpful with everything, including storing our large bags while we went to Somoto and Miraflor. The kitchen was great and fully equipped and the room was nice.
- Jack (8/5): A charming hotel belonging to a charming owner - - located only a short stroll into the main area of the town
- the host treated us with care and adequate friendliness
- the room was of size befitting a pair of regular sized adults
- the kitchen was fitted to decent spec I would like western tourists to take this with a pinch of salt - the water did cut out at certain points.
However this is expected in a region with an ongoing water shortage.
If you from a comfortable western country, travel isn't for you if you can't do without water for 15 minutes. Stay in your sub-urb
No faults with the property.

- Melissa (8/5): Very good - Mariella is super friendly! Location is close to the busstation and price is fair.
- Gianluca (8/5): Very good -
- Lauren (10/5): Exceptional - The room was very comfortable and quiet. The location is a little far from the center of town but it is very close to both bus terminals. That is the trade-off.
- Daniëlle (7/5): Good - Room and bathroom were fine. Kitchen simple but sufficient. Not a great place for meeting people.

- Nupur (9/5): Superb - Hostal Mariela is a cozy family run hostel, located close to Cortan Norte bus station in Esteli. Cotran Sur is a walkable distance too; or a super quick and cheap shared taxi ride away. The location worked perfect for me, as I planned to take buses to nearby locations such as Miraflor, Estanzuela etc. It is close to supermarket and local shops, so you can buy fresh produce for your meals. The rooms are clean and comfortable; kitchen is clean and well equipped. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Super convenient.
- Katherine (10/5): Exceptional - Such a lovely stay. We just stopped overnight on our way to Miraflor. Was in the middle of both bus stations so perfect for us. The room and kitchen were immaculate. Host was super helpful and lovely. We had everything we needed. A great stay. Thanks -
- Jess (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rena (10/5): Great hostel facilities clean an priced right! - Very comfortable an clean hostel great price. The only thing lacking was I wish they gave a little more information on the surrounding area. I didn’t do much while there. When other travelers told me I could of taken the local bus out to nature it was too late for me.
- Juanita (7/5): Cute little place in market area. - The price was excellent and the place met all basic needs. It had a nice little table with chair just outside that was great for using computer in the mornings. Windows did not have screens so quite a few mosquito bites
- Jacob (10/5): Exceptional - Everything staff was very nice
- Henna (9/5): Superb - The owner was suuuper nice! She was so accommodating and friendly. Even though I speak only a little bit of Spanish, we were able to communicate. The room was clean and surprisingly quiet at night, despite being next to the street. Location was perfect for us, close to the big bus station.
- Andreia (10/5): Exceptional - I made a mistake with my Booking dates and still they hosted me when I appeared, even when they were closed. Staff was super nice and they prepared the room for us. was clean and quiet and super near the bus stop where the night bus reaches.
- Robin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gillie (8/5): Nice and quiet hostel - It’s has everything I needed - quiet room and a good kitchen The hostel is very small and pretty far from the centre so I want recommend it to solo travellers
- Amity (9/5): Superb - Great host, super friendly and helpful. Nice kitchen, comfortable bed, convenient location, and speedy internet.
- Andriws (9/5): Superb -
- Madison (10/5): Hotel is Nice, Estelí is Not - Clean, nice kitchen, outdoor tables outside each room to eat at. Staff was helpful via WhatsApp. Not many taxi drivers know of the place, so I had to wait longer until I found one willing to give me a ride. The staff is more helpful via WhatsApp than in person. You can't book any tours here, you have to walk the 20 minutes to Luna hostel. The location is in a decent area near the market, but far from the center.
The men in Nicaragua, especially in Estelí, are sleezes. I found letting out a loud scream shuts them up, they look scared. They don't seem dangerous, just weak creeps taught to treat women like food. Taxi driver and shopkeepers asking for my age before my name 🤮🤮 Not the hostel's fault, but it's good to know as a female traveler in this area. Walking with a man doesn't make a difference. Knowing what I do now, I would skip Estelí.

- Lindsey (10/5): Exceptional -
- Loraine (10/5): Perfect price quality ratio - Friendly service.
Super clean room and common areas and kitchen.
Purified water provided.
Fine location, close to bus station. 15 min by foot to the center.
Well equipped kitchen and room. The only thing maybe to criticize is the size of the room.

- Argenis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joe (8/5): Very good -
- Dimitrios (7/5): ok for short stay - good location, basic room no hot water, kitchen was constantly dirty
- Sara (10/5): Everything is super clean, comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped and one of the cleanest - I cannot recommend this place enough. My partner got sick while we were in there and we had to extend our stay. Although it’s a very annoying thing to happen while travelling, if it happens in a place where you feel safe, comfortable, at home and respected, than it’s all good, and that’s what happened here! The owner was truly looking after us, gave us a special tea to make, etc. She went way beyond what she could have done to make us feel better about the situation! Amazing! Nothing
- Rosemary (8/5): Very good -
- Thomas (8/5): Very good - A very nice small family run hostel. The people working there were so nice and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and and the rooms are a very reasonable price.
They organised a very good tour to the Somoto canyon for me. The only downsode to the hostel was the location as its far from the 'centre' (most bars/restaurants). But it is really close to bothe the bus terminals!
Not such a social vibe if you are a solo traveller but I enjoyed it anyway!
- Boothy3 (10/5): Exceptional - The host waited up late for us as we arrived at 23.00. Such a nice gesture otherwise would have been stranded out on the street. The room is nice also
- Thomas (8/5): Very good - Lovely small hostel with only a few rooms. Owned and run by a really nice and helpful family that helped me with questions and arranged a tour to the Somoto Canyon.
Good kitchen that was extremely clean. Would stay again Biggest downside was the location as 'the centre' felt like it was in the north near Parque Central which was a 25 walk away. (But there are shops, restaurants etc nearby so you have everything you need)
- Oscar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Holly (9/5): Lovely quiet, clean hostel with friendly staff - Quiet, clean, and very helpful staff. Nice little kitchen, super clean fridge, free filtered water. Excellent value for money. Not much of a communal area so not very sociable, although not a problem for a night or two.
- Karlotta (10/5): Exceptional - great clean rooms. the kitchen is well equipped. grocery stores, market, bus station close by
- Greg (10/5): Exceptional - Super friendly hosts! There is a kitchen and free water Room is super small
- Trevor (10/5): A wonderful little hostel. - A real gem of a find, I tell you. I was upgraded to a room with my own bathroom. A real comfortable bed. Very quiet. And a super low price! Much better than the Luna Hostel. I liked everything
- Mara (8/5): Very good -
