Guest Reviews
- Thomas (8/5): A beautiful experience - Very friendly and helpful owner and staff. Some of the trails were sprayed with pesticides by some local farmers.
I found a dead Strawberry Poison Dart Frog.

- Irma (8/5): Fantastisch - De lokatie is geweldig.
- Stéphanie (10/5): Amazing - Location, quiteness, friendly staff, amazing rooms, beauty of nature Nothing
- Meriam (10/5): Brilliant night in the trees - The staff was very welcoming and always happy to help. The location is incredible, in the middle of the tree. The owner spent the evening talking to us and was very warm. The hotel is huge and the work done to build it is incredible - it truly is a piece of art.
- Tim (9/5): Superb -
- Anouk (9/5): Extraordinary house - Extraordinary build. This house was spectacular, huge and crafted almost entirely from wood. The food was delicious and the host very welcoming. We liked the two waterfall hikes you can do on your own and the ziplining. We used this as a stop between Tortuguero and Tenorio. As such it was perfect. But I imagine there wouldn‘t be lots to do if you stayed much longer than 2 nights.
- Henk (10/5): One of the best and special accommodation - Accommodation, very friendly staff and location Absolutely nothing
- Vasilijs (10/5): An art piece of a house built into the forest itself. - A very special and incredible place to visit.
You will need a good car to get there, but you will not be disappointed. It is a huge tree house stretching through the native forest as it is built into the forest. Great for bird watchers and frog spotters. Great hikes between waterfalls and around local fields and villages. Very caring staff will book local tours for you and will look after you with a high level of hospitality. The rooms are very big, the bed and mattress are impressive and the mosquito net is well built and spacious! We are very grateful!
- Indiamarley (10/5): Exceptional - This place is...magical. I felt like Alice in Wonderland the whole time. It's the baby of a CR artist who bought the land in the 80s. His artist friends all wanted to come and visit, so he had to make more room. All by himself and his friends. And then more artists from all over came, helped with the build and left their mark everywhere- murals, sculpures, whatever. And I have this from the horse's mouth, as we had the privilege to meet both the owner and his grandson in person. Oh, to have been a fly on the wall back then...And the drive up there is amazing as well. This place is mindblowing. Sorry guys, but the food is...not good. At all. And expensive, for what it is.
- Onno (8/5): Back to basic in the jungle - If you are up for some adventure in nature this is the place. It is back to basic facilities, but with your private waterfall and pool and a great wildlife view from the mirador. We loved it. You need to 4x4 to get there.
- Jeroen (9/5): We had a great stay: breakfast, view, garden visit, the staff: it was all great. - One of a kind Nothing
- Roman (10/5): Wonderful stay - The breakfast was amazing and it was delivered to our floor. Nixon was an amazing host, he was super helpful! We can highly recommend to stay there. Please make sure to have a 4x4 car to get there. It is almost impossible to do it without one.
- Mark (10/5): Amazing hidden gem with great views and personal service - Remote location was amazing with beautiful views and waterfall on property just a short hike away. Very quiet and secluded area. Nixon was our service specialist who brought us our meals to eat on the balcony and assisted with anything we needed. Very personal service
- Amy (10/5): One-of-a-kind, Mirador Prendas is an unforgettable experience. - I felt like I had a good sense of this incredible destination from other reviews and was not disappointed. It's stunning and well-worth the rugged journey. The views are breath-taking and the wildlife abundant, from the 3 toucans who greeted us outside the bedroom window on our arrival, to the howler monkeys, cows, and countless other birds and creatures. We stayed two nights with our college-aged children and planned for a rest day on the property in between, but there was too much right there to see and explore for any resting! Our horseback riding tour was a highlight-- calm and confident horses and friendly capable guides-- I highly recommend. The night tour through the jungle was fascinating for most of us, and slightly frightening for one of us. ;-) We were well taken care-of, generous hospitality, and delicious meals. Our entire Costa Rican experience was amazing, and Mirador Prendas was the top of the list. We loved the adventure of the unpaved road and delicate bridges. It's definitely rustic and isolated, which enhanced the experience for us, but might be uncomfortable for some.
- Akash (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathryn (10/5): Nixon was an outstanding host!! He anticipated and met our every need. The team of guides we worked with were also aweso - A most interesting structure with fantastic views. The place is awash with character and quirkiness! Amazing woodwork: panels, murals, sculptures Better lighting would have been nice. As would more cushioned seating.
- Holloway (10/5): It was an adventure! The jaguar room!!! Having coffee with the monkeys - no windows! - The feeling of being immersed in the willd!
- Lisa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eric (10/5): Exceptional - Mirador Prendas was an incredible experience….. owner has built a magical destination. The service and good were outstanding. Nixon coordinates service and was attentive and fun to be around. You have to go over a couple narrow bridges to get there. Made me very nervous first time, not a problem after first time.
- Oliver (10/5): an unmatched place! Fantastic! - a fantastic place in backcountry nature. very friendly hosts. Nick was exceptional, we felt very welcome!
- Jean (8/5): Magical giant wood shack overlooking a natural reserve - The location is very remote but worth it. Waking up to the sound of birds and nature was amazing. The staff is also super friendly and accomodating and the view is unbeatable. The road to get there is really bumpy so you are a bit stuck there. We have young kids and they were happy but also going around in circles at times, there are lots of stairs as well so it was a bit tiring. Also we didn't see that much wildlife in the end.
- Lutz (10/5): Awesome! - a very unique and special place in the midst of the jungle - extraordinary! Quiet a journey to get there - but it‘s worth it.
- Maela (9/5): Beautiful, adventurous stay - feels like in another world :-) - Very kind & welcoming staff, very spacious room / hotel with beautiful art & paintings all over the place Quite bumpy road to get there, but and adventurous ride :-)
- Arnaud (9/5): Superb - Amazing view, the place is ideal if you want to observe birds.
People were very kind with us. Dinner and breakfast were good.
Better to have a 4x4 to go there.
- Jeroen (9/5): Superb - Super friendly staff and amazing hostel. You feel like you're in an another world. The hostel is rather remotely located but definitely worth the effort 👌
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - Awesome accommodation and big room. Very friendly staff, they were there for us 24/7. Nixon helped us very well with everything, he was very kind. We recommend this accommodation to everyone!
- Aina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Helen (10/5): mirador Prendes is fantastic! great staff, beautiful scenery and fun waterfall to swim under, zip lining and hammocks to - It was amazing! A magical place lots of cool places to explore. we liked everything!
- Thomas (9/5): An amazing place to stay! - The hotel is so original! The rooms are very beautiful, all made with wood. The location is amazing, surrounded by nature. The panorama is incredible from the roof. The staff is so kind and the food (breakfast and diner) is good. We loved our stay ! It is a remote place and the facilities can be basics but functionals
- Barry (10/5): Exceptional - Jungle castle with amazing wood work inside. Facility with mosquito net on the bed excellent for mosquito free sleep. Loud tropical sounds of beetles, birds, and occasionally other mammals, such as boar. Meal facility amazing. Zipline is on-site. Multiple activity, relatively cheaper than La Fortuna tourist region, and easily arranged by staff Spotty wifi coverage and lengthy unpaved roads
