Guest Reviews
- Jacqueline (10/5): A hidden gem in Penrith - Joiners cottage is a hidden gem in Penrith town centre. The cottage is very very clean and it’s been renovated to a modern style but still has some original beams and it’s all nicely furnished with comfy sofas, super comfy beds and bedding and it’s warm and cosy which is just what we needed during a cold spell in May.
There are lots of good food shops in Penrith and we visited Cranstons food hall on the outskirts of town and bought some lovely lamb that we cooked in the cottage kitchen no problem plenty of kitchenware.
The cottage location couldn’t be better for us, two minutes walk to the town and lots of pubs, bars and restaurants and two minutes walk to the bus station where we caught a bus to Keswick.
Good communication from Sarah the host and she recommended places to eat and drink which we found very easily.
Joiners cottage was a perfect relaxing stay for us and we’d love to return soon.

- Sara (10/5): A great find - The property was immaculate, comfortable, warm and really well equipped. Everything we needed was there. It was in a good, quiet location. There is free parking very close which is great overnight but after 8am you have to keep moving the car every hour or paying to put it in a carpark also close by.
- Nick (9/5): -

- Julie (10/5): Sarah’s was lovely, very helpful host. House nicely decorated and homely - Very clean we’ll stocked with essentials, like home from home No access to garden from house. Out onto the lane then into a gate for the yard. Not a massive problem but not what our digs are used to

- Frances (10/5): Beautiful cottage in the heart of Penrith - This is a beautiful cottage in the heart of Penrith. The facilities are excellent, with lovely touches from fluffy towels and quality toiletries, to the pint of milk waiting for you. The property is immaculately clean and well presented. The location is great with plenty of shops, restaurants and easy, reasonably priced parking across the road. The pictures don’t do justice to this little gem of a holiday home.
- karen (10/5): - Beautiful, cosy cottage down a quiet back street. Lovely decorated and spotlessly clean with everything you could need. The bed was one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in!

- Paul (10/5): Fantastic stay, great communication with the host, one of the best properties we have stayed in. - The location was fantastic, beds are comfortable, down stair toilet. Nice touch with milk, tea and coffee on site.Parking was available across the road in the bus terminal £6.10 for overnight parking which was great value. Two keys required, had to lock the door in the morning to walk the dog. Locking the family in the property or maybe a thumb turn lock required. Only a small issue which could easily be solved.👍

- Sophiia (9/5): Intimate and cosy, perfect for our little family! - We really enjoyed how quiet it was in the cottage. We were in the centre of town but it felt as if we weren’t! The entire place was so clean and homey, and the facilities were fantastic. Shower was a big plus! We were left with every detail we needed in a folder in the living room. You can really tell that the hosts put an awful lot of effort into the little details. Was mildly confusing to get to the first time, and accessibility could be better after the gate gets locked at 5pm (not poor-mobility friendly past 5pm; I use a stick and struggled slightly as you have to step over the bottom rail of the access gate). But these were very, very mild problems that weren’t to the fault of the hosts!
- Tessa (10/5): Very comfortable lovely cottage in the heart of Penrith, well-equipped kitchen with lovely touches (milk, tea, etc) read - Very comfortable lovely cottage in the heart of Penrith, well-equipped kitchen with lovely touches (milk, tea, etc) ready to go, Ullswater just 15 mins drive, super!
- Mary (10/5): Wonderful and would stay here again! - Great location and great style and furnishings. Sarah the host had some great suggestions for our trip also. Nothing
- Holly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tegan (9/5): Lovely very spacious cottage. - The Cottage is a lot bigger than it looks in the photos! Very clean and comfortable beds. Perfect location. Lots of games and books for the kids to play with. Smart TV for us adults to chill out with a series on the night. Lots of lovely little touches throughout the cottage. The only thing I didn’t like was no blind on the front door. As a couple occasions people walked past to different properties which would give us a fright as is located down a dark alley.
- Audrey (9/5): Superb - Lovely cottage with lots of special little touches, towels and bedding beautifully soft and fresh.
- David (8/5): Very good - Really clean and comfortable, easy access to all shops TV in wrong place, hard to watch from second sofa
- Andrew (10/5): A lovely home from home - Great location and a lovely home from fome. Nothing
- Holdsworth (9/5): Lovely relaxing stay - Lovely cottage and great location Sky light in main bedroom a little difficult to open and close but we managed ok.
- Paul (9/5): Superb - Helpful host. Picked us up from the station! Nothing
- Jayne (9/5): Greet cottage, spacious and lovely - Well decorated, clean, bright rooms.
Nice welcome milk, tea, coffee, hot choc, herbal teas and toiletries, which was very thoughtful.
Beds were comfy and spacious bedrooms.
Beautiful wood table in dining room.
Games cupboard and book shelf for use.
Plenty of thick lovely towels, big bath, small towels and flannels.
1 hour parking permit supplied to borrow.
Central location in Penrith
Would recommend this place if your planning on being out in the day, as good place to stay.
Maybe not if you are wanting views and stay home more in days. Only small challenge, but don't let it put you off, was being in town centre it was behind a shop so most of windows looked on to alleyway or carpark.
Other main bedroom had skylights and took a while to work out how to open, as warm in hot weather.
Juggling parking on last day when loading, forgot to move car after 1st hour and got parking ticket. But that was reasonable between us.
Otherwise plenty of parking in carpark behind on weekends, just weekdays on 1 hour permits locally until 6pm.
- Sarah (10/5): The cottage was in an excellent location to access the Lake District - Clean, quiet and comfortable Nothing
- Linlin (10/5): Exceptional - Very cozy. It's a bit difficult to find.
- Bob (9/5): Superb - 2 double bedrooms, bathroom and separate toilet.
Great central location
Clean and tidy Shower was a little small
- John (10/5): Just a lovely house -
- Katy (8/5): Very good - Well positioned in the town. the directions were a little off as it was hard to see the carpet shop from the road. May be easier to say just turn left at Druids pub. is set back behind the road. the second bedroom has a roof light which can be opened but wasn't a problem. was well laid out. very well equipped. very thoughtful lighting. is obviously a loved property. . small courtyard but no garden view. we would love to stay again if back up that way. charge for dog was not on booking so had to pay cash. thank sarah. no garden view
- Rhea (9/5): Gorgeous cottage in a fantastic central location, book without hesitation. - Excellent location in short walking distance to all amenities, but yet peacefully tucked away. Spacious cottage that is modern, homely, well equipped, and clean to a good standard. Beds are incredibly comfortable. Good shower and no issues with water pressure. Free handmade soap testers. Gorgeous smell in the cottage throughout, smelt lovely and fragrant and clean. Kitchen was superb, everything you need to cook and dine. Decor throughout lovely (now want to go home and redecorate). Outside courtyard was small but pleasant to sit in to watch all the little birds. Minor mentions that did not detract from a fabulous stay:
1. A smaller bath towel to use for your hair would be good. Many ladies like to wrap a towel around and leave on to dry post shower. However, all the towels provided were so luxuriously thick that it was like walking around with a duvet on your head!
2. I thought it would have been helpful to have a 'welcome manual' on arrival with some basic info (as is common place for holiday lets) and I only found this by chance on the last day in the games cupboard, would be good to leave this somewhere more prominent.
3. Some cushions on furniture in courtyard area would have made it a little more comfy, and the outside coffee table needed a bit of a clean.
- Katie (10/5): Beautiful place to stay to explore the Lake District! - Beautiful cottage in a fantastic location to explore the Lake District area. The space is beautifully decorated and extremely well equipped, they seem to have thought of everything! The communication with the host was fantastic! We would definitely love to return :) Nothing we didn’t like.
- Gareth (8/5): Very good -
- Jo (10/5): Comfortable and cozy. - Excellent location. Fantastic helpful caring host. The property was immaculate and so many thoughtful touches. Can’t wait to stay again. Everything. Comfortable. Clean. Well equipped. Warm. Excellent value for money.
- Jerry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (10/5): Just the job for our short holiday in Penrith and surrounding area. - Location, comfort, well equipped kitchen and very comfortable bed.
Everything seemed as new or very well looked after.
Sarah was very open to questions leading up to our stay and with details regarding checkin/out. A small table and a couple of chairs in the kitchen would have been handy.
- Monette (10/5): Amazing. - Great location and close to shops. Instructions to the property were very clear and host was very helpful with our queries😊
The property feels very homey & Sarah was very lovely. Will be booking again if we go to Penrith next time as only close to Keswick and Ullswater. None.
- Lauren (10/5): Perfect location - Beautifully presented, clean, quiet and spacious Nothing it was lovely
- Lucy (10/5): Lovely, homely cottage - Exceptionally clean, very homely and had all the necessities there if you forgot anything. We would definitely book to stay again.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - The property was excellent. Very comfortable, clean and great facilities. Everything was considered for guests needs. Also a good location near local amenities.
- Alexandria (10/5): Cosy house, felt like home from home - The house was easy to find with the directions, easy check in. Home was lovely and clean, actually spotless. Lovely little touches in the home made our stay really special
