Guest Reviews
- Phillip (7/5): - Seafront hotel, didn't see one member of staff in the four days, tea/ coffee used on first day and not replenished had to supply over own, if you had booked continental breakfast don't know where you'd have eaten it 😉 apparent from that very clean comfy beds washroom/ shower very good to
- Rhona Kenna (9/5): -
- Andrew (7/5): - Location suited me very well. Parking not 100% straight forward but not a problem in the end.
- Rita (8/5): Comfortable - N/A
- Julian (10/5): Overall a fantastic stay , loved the room , would definitely come back . - Room 505 was fantastic, loads of room and very comfortable The alleyway at the rear of the property when looking out of the rear window.
- Ricky Niner (10/5): - I had a huge room with shower and bath. Tea/coffee facilities along with a small fridge. Sea view with only a ten minute walk to the town centre (nice and quiet). Nothing, it was spot on. There isn't any parking, but you can park on the promenade for 16hrs at a time for free
- Christian (8/5): Very comfortable, very happy! - It’s was very clean and comfortable Location
- Chris (6/5): Good if you want the exercise of climbing stairs and walking into town! - Comfortable bed. Large room with seating area. Clean and tidy. On the promenade, although 2km from the centre of town. Good value compared to other properties. This room is on the third floor, so there were a lot of stairs to carry luggage up! The bath arrangement was a bit odd as the water flow wasn't really quick enough to fill the bath. There was a shower head, which helped, but a stand alone shower would be better and there was plenty of room for one.
Carpet was past its best.
- wendy (8/5): Lovely apartment with a few minus points! - It was really comfortable with good facilities There was a humming noise throughout. Traffic was quite busy outside. Steps to the kitchen and bathroom were a bit steep and the towels were tiny!!
- Eileen (9/5): - Spacious rooms with great sea views. Lovely airy bathroom. Very peaceful Weird smell of turpentine as you entered. Also at entrance to apartment . We reported this to the host, who said they were unable to find a smell or problem. May have been spillage or carpet cleaner. Weather was nice and we had windows open all the time.
- Lisa (8/5): - Room was clean and very comfortable, great location. The bathroom was huge but with only an over bath shower with no bracket or room to stand up. Made it very awkward to use.
- Don (7/5): -
- Steve (8/5): Good - Location to other amenities Beds could be a little bigger
- Clive (10/5): Exceptional - Sea view and location near the Electric railway and the horse tram.
- Karl (7/5): Good for a short stop, car parking is difficult but was known prior to booking. Limited restaurants in the area but a wa - View from front room was magical at night. Rooms had a strong smell of turpentine and presumably freshly painted.
- Jim (8/5): Very good - Funny sort of smell, like turpentine , especially in the hallway.
- Claudia (8/5): Very good -
- N (8/5): Very good -
- Matthew (10/5): Home from home. - This property was more and beyond than I expected. Very clean, tidy, comfortable and quiet. It was home from home and with awkward sailing times for me kim was understanding and was OK with early check-in & out. Would highly recommend this property it will be the first place I would book on my return. 10 out of 10 diffintly from me. I can honestly say there was not a single thing I could say wrong with this property. Highly recommended
- Nia (10/5): Fantastic thank you! - Fantastic thank you. Great location, great communication. Comfortable and clean
- Scott (10/5): Good place to stay - Location was at the end of Douglas prom but was only a short walk to the TT grandstand Parking as there is none only on the sea front
- Deirdre (6/5): Pleasant - Perfectly adequate room in the top portion of a house on the promenade
- Melanie (9/5): Superb -
- Akshadhar (9/5): Superb - The huge room and lovely bathroom were just superb and the view was breathtaking. Truly worth the stay. The pricing although it's during the TT fortnight it was exorbitant. No toiletries or daily cleaning when I stayed for 2 days.
- Annette (8/5): Very good -
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michelle (10/5): Beautiful accommodation and wonderful staff, highly recommended. - Beautiful establishment on the promenade with fantastic views and excellent facilities. Nothing, it was perfect, thank you!
- Richard (7/5): Good -
- Jennifer (8/5): A good position with infrastructure. Street parking with free timed permit parking. - Great location. It was secure. The building had a lot of character. Would have liked a microwave and cutlery etc. Just to warm up or cook frozen meals. And a larger fridge as it didn’t hold much at all.
- Jones (9/5): Superb - Loved the space in the apartment and the great view over the sea. The bed was really comfy and there was loads of hanging and drawer space.
The unit in the bathroom was amazing with so much storage space and lots of mirrors. The fridge was a great bonus. We struggled a bit with the shower as the bath kept turning on.
- Darren (6/5): Ok - Lack of single beds
- Amy (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Louise (10/5): Lovely little apartment - Very clean ,everything we needed. All info needed from Kim well in time of arriving . The only thing I wasnt keen on was how far it was from the centre of douglas ,not many shops around for essentials
- Jason (9/5): Will be coming back - Felt luxurious and had everything we needed. Kim was very responsive and helped with our requests Nothing. Was fair way away from the centre but the scenery more than makes up for it
- Sarah (8/5): Very good - Fab location! Have been on the Isle of Man before but didn't stay in Douglas. Loved the "local" pub the Terminus Tavern. Great food, views and staff. Also, the Queens just a short walk away. Location also very close for the electric railway into Laxey and also buses into Douglas centre (if you don't fancy the trek down!!) / Port Erin. Small little park just underneath. Mama's Kitchen (takeaway) close by and a decent Indian restaurant which was always full!
Stayed in room 507 so a King suite with a sea view. Bathroom was massive, light and airy so pleased with that.
Desk big enough for me to work on which was great. Bed very comfy. Yes, it's a little old fashioned decor wise but that's part of the charm for me. Loads of wardrobe and drawer space. Liked the windows open fully to let in the beautiful sea air.
Check in was contactless but straightforward. Stayed for 4 nights. People moan about towels not being changed but come on, in these environmentally sound times, why would you need fresh towels every day? You're clean when you use them and the bathroom is light and airy so they don't get mouldy / damp / foisty.
Would stay again. Parking can be an issue in the summer as it's just fight for a space on the promenade but that's not the property's fault.
Breakfast here would be ideal to set you up for the day but there is a fridge and I stocked up on pastries before headed out for the day to find a breakfast / brunch.
Had small issue with the shower tap but this was resolved within hours (messaged Wed night and by the time I got back from my business meetings the next day, all resolved). Host very apologetic but no drama :-)
So, it's not so much bad points. I'd book again!
- Wayne (5/5): We made do. I would seek out better accommodations in the future. Some with live human beings. - There was no breakfast. In fact, we barely saw a soul. The room was not attended to until I texted asking for more coffee. They brought the coffee. It was extremely difficult to get in the first night. We stood outside for about twenty minutes before the door was remotely unlocked. The bed was different from what we consider king-sized. It was two narrow twin beds placed together. The bedding consisted of a sheet-type bag filled with blankets. If the blankets were too much - too bad! The "coverlet" was really too short and too narrow. The choice was be cold of be too warm.
- Lee (7/5): Good - Excellent location, near horse and electric trams, and with a sea view. Only 30 minute walk to town centre. Large room. No service. Accommodation only, with no room service, breakfast, or luggage storage. One set of towels for a week.
- Carl (7/5): Location out of centre - No proper shower
- Nick (9/5): Very comfortable - Great location, large space with great sea view No facilities to prepare meals although we were aware of this when booking.
- Steven (9/5): Excellent...wonderful accommodation in great location - Perfect location, exceptionally clean and spacious room Nothing...it was perfect for my requirements
- Teresa (8/5): Very good - Very knowledgeable of the island.
Keen to offer an individualised breakfast.
Room was cleaned and topped up every day.
- Steve (10/5): Lovely property with great views very relaxing and homely. Would stay again. - Location and view from the room was excellent. Big rooms and nice high ceilings.
Presentation was great, clean and tidy. Bathroom was great. Provision of a toaster and/or a microwave oven would have been nice.
Bathroom window didn’t close properly. Shower plunger didn’t stay on, we used a piece of cardboard to hold it.
Staying for five days, we could have had more than one soap and the tissue box only had two tissues.
- David (8/5): Comfortable, quiet and convenient. - Good location for public transport. Needed more kitchen utensils and crockery suitable for the microwave.
- Colin (9/5): We enjoyed it very much . - To many stairs .
- Gareth (8/5): Communication was good , and had a good nights Kip 🤗 - Clean, bed was very comfy Hairdryer in bathroom did not work ( hose was not attached)
- Mark (10/5): Great place to stay - Lovely room Nothing
- Sunil (6/5): Pleasant -
- Christopher (6/5): Pleasant but very expensive -
- Grant (10/5): Exceptional -
- Petra (10/5): Exceptional -
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional - Promenade house is a great place to stay for a short trip.
It was immaculately clean and Kim was so accommodating in letting us drop our bags early and leaving them for the last day until it was time to get a taxi to the airport.
It was also so quiet, we didn’t see or hear anyone else! It was all good!
- Pauline (9/5): Superb - The space, lovely large room, great shower and comfortable bed. Private entrance to the apartment.
- Francoise (10/5): First class - Great location, beautiful property immaculate.
- Martin (9/5): The stay at Promenade House was great and with a better fridge I would have scored it 10 . - The booking in procedure was efficient. The cleanliness of the room and the en-suite bathroom were excellent. The in room fridge wasn’t cold enough for dairy products.
- Michael (7/5): Great stay for the price and very clean and comfortable - It was very clean and tidy The water out of the tap was pipping hot
The room was really hot and had to have windows opened to cool down
- Lorraine (8/5): Pleasant location and clean facilities - Parking available close to property.
Property close to sea Towels were not provided for each day of stay
Bin not emptied during stay
Unable to turn heating off as room too warm
No-one on site to stop racket made by other guests in early hours of the morning which went on for several hours
- James (10/5): Exceptional - The Promenade House was the perfect location as you are at the end of the promenade with perfect access to the north and Ramsey over the a18 or the perfect location for a walk down the Prom.
- Clare (10/5): A very calm and pleasant stay. - Really large rooms. Clean. Lovely sea view. Convenient location. Good communication with host. Slight problem with toilet flush.
- George (10/5): We had a brilliant time - Room was extremely good and very helpful Nothing was very good we
- Anonymous (6/5): The room was nice but we could have done with fresh towels and replenishment of tea and coffee but there was no one to a - The bed was very comfortable. There was a metallic paint smell which was quite strong.
- Beth (10/5): Our stay was fabulous we would definitely choose to stay again - The location was excellent! The view absolutely beautiful. The way you can come and go at anytime was very attractive as myself and my partner enjoy late night walks along the beach I think a new kettle would be beneficial as the one there was abit short from the plug to the table, and toiletries were limited for a weeks stay
- Daniel (8/5): Very good -
- Pauline (6/5): The room was adequate - Location was good
Landlady was very pleasant and helpful Shower did not work, one day no hot water
Place was tired needs a little TLC
- Postmanpat (10/5): First timers smitten - Amazing bathroom ( to die for) , lounge comfy with wonderful views of the bay spent our time when in apartment watching the world. Bedroom was great plenty of wardrobe space and chest of drawers.
Could not fault space & facilities.
Would definitely recommend 5 *****
Wish I had taken photos to add to review Kettle a little small & lead a bit short found difficulty plugging it in. Small problem with bathroom sink plug.
- Morris (9/5): Excellent. - Did not bother with breakfast. Rooms very clean, excellent view, very close for transport and owner extremely helpful. Room very hot so the owner provided a room fan which was bliss. Refreshment of complimentary tea and coffee. Only a very small point.
- Carol (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dave (10/5): Great value. Great comfort. Bit of high end living! - Location layout comfort. All excellent value for money The stairs!
- Julie (9/5): excellent - The location was excellent, right near the Electric trams. We had a sea view room which was lovely. The room was perfect, with a living room area and bedroom. The bathroom was very big with everything you could need. N/A
- Thomas (9/5): Superb -
- Dean (10/5): We plan to come again and stay at same place. - Fabulous views, great room, quiet, central, easy.
- Keith (10/5): Beautiful room . Will definitely stay here again - Very clean and spacious
- Juan (10/5): Will definitely come back - Clean, well located, excellent view to the Douglas bay. Everything about the room and the building was outstanding. Only a few meters away from the horse and electric trams.
- Louise (8/5): Clean, good location and easy parking even though there was none onsite. - The room was very clean and the location was ideal for our stay visiting family in Onchan with good access to Douglas prom.
The no fuss approach to collecting and dropping off of keys suited our needs.
- Paul (8/5): excellent lovely location brilliant staff - They say service is about putting things right if they go wrong, and the host was certainly up to this task. We had an issue on arrival but this was dealt with promptly and sorted out with the hour. The venue, location and quality of the accommodation was first class. Kim was a great host and we would certainly return. Nothing a great place to spend a week or more on the Isle of Mann central to all the attractions
- Carol (10/5): Lovely room, fantastic location spotlessly clean. - The room was large spacious and spotlessly clean. Lovely view from ground floor window.
- Simon (7/5): Very comfy - It could do with breakfast included as there is not a lot of breakfast place in the area The view out of the window as it was a building and scoffolding
- Lynda (10/5): Excellent - Hostess Stairs
- Allan (8/5): A central venue for touring much of the island. - Street parking was easy. Accommodation was quiet and comfortable. Access arrangements were easy. Host dealt quickly with an oversight. Lack of view and poor natural light. Information re locating venues for breakfast and evening meal would have been helpful.
- Boss24 (10/5): Exceptional - I like all ÃŽs not something to dont like
- Anonymous (7/5): was ok - location no hot plate, small shower, cold bathroom
- Jane (10/5): Great hotel, great location, we will definitely stay again. - Excellent location with everything we needed.
- Ishank (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barry (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely clean hotel everything you need in your room the bed was really comfy 😌 definitely be back, thanks so much guys 😊
- Ricky (8/5): Not too bad. few recommendations needed to be taken on board. - Nice, clean and spacious, little bit dated but nothing to grumble about. when you pay for a suite for a few days, I think you should have a fridge with some milk and have the towels changed, unfortunately we didn’t have any of these.
- Rajkumar (10/5): It was a great and peaceful, clear instructions are provide for checking in - Spacious and location na
- Andrew (9/5): very nice area but the room we had 505 was not a room with a view, would definitely come again if we were guaranteed a - the room nice, clean and spacious no view and quilt very heavy
- Rob (10/5): Pleasant Stay - Spacious and clean Nothing
- Eugene (5/5): sorry but….. - clean. 47 steps (51 if you count the ones to enter)
no proper shower, hand held over yourself that was extremely awkward due to the sloped roof. plenty of room in the massive bathroom to fit a shower. No greeting, no breakfast option.
- Asanji (1/5): No room cleaning, no biscuits to have with a cup of tea. No change of towels. - The size of the room and the shower. No staff attendance.
Not enough body wash, No water to drink
- Brenda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samantha (9/5): excellent location wonderful sea views and just off the main promenade -
- Ruth (9/5): Superb - Kim is a wonderful host.
nothing was too much trouble.
Room really comfortable and quiet. Nothing, everything was fine.
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Gary (7/5): Good -
- P (10/5): Great location - The property was modern but with old character features. The ceiling was high. The view from the room (especially night time) was great. We enjoyed watching the cruise liners from our seats. There was always athletic people on the promenade. The location was handy as we were near the electric railway and horse driven tram. The bus stopped outside the door. The restaurants were a short walk away. We enjoyed the pub 5 minutes away and the chippy at the top of the hill. We had a small issue with the room, a message was sent and reply immediately. The issue solved very quickly. There was no reception but then as I said above, response on our booking.com was very quick and efficient, so this turned out not to be such a big issue.
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional - great location
- Karina (8/5): Very good - We had a very enjoyable stay on Isle of Man.
The location is very good, just off the promenade and besides the electric railway bringing us to Laxey.
Overall public transport on Isle of Man is easy to use, well sign-posted and everyone we spoke to were very welcoming. We are considering coming back to Isle of Man next year. Limited number of restaurants open on Sundays.
We are hillwalkers and found routes on maps no longer exists or there are access issues - would be beneficial if the maps are updated.
- Graeme (8/5): Really enjoyed our stay but a few extra little tweaks would have improved it. - Breakfast n/a
Location good No kitchen knives/chopping board/tin opener/coffee maker which was actually itemised on advert. First property visited with no welcome pack.
Would benefit from a few scatter cushions on sofas for back support. Some extra pillows perhaps.
- Sophie (10/5): Exceptional -
