- Anthony (10/5): Relaxed, friendly and a family like atmosphere. - Without a doubt one of my best experiences at a hotel anywhere. Steve, the owner and the team were extremely accommodating during my stay. The hotel has a lovely, relaxed and friendly vibe. There are theme nights in the bar. I even found that I made friends with many of the other guests during my stay.
I would recommend the hotel as the ideal spot for the perfect getaway. I can't find anything that I can list as a negative.
- Teresa (6/5): Ok for somewhere to base yourself. - Budget friendly hotel. Lovely location for families. Large three bed room. Decent breakfast included. Friendly helpful staff. Mattress was so uncomfortable. Pool not clean or heated! Bar very tired looking and empty. Shower tiny with either very hot or very cold water!
- Lee (2/5): - Location Not clean breakfast had to wait for some time first morning sill waiting at 10am
- Richard (6/5): Friendly staff Ok base - Breakfast was good as was the waitress serving breakfast Bathroom very small. No restaurant available. No maid service. Not very clean.
- Hayley (10/5): -
- Bharghav (6/5): OK FOR THE PRICE WE PAID. BUT CAN BE BETTER ! - We liked the fact that the hotel was only a stone throw away from the beach.
Also shoutout to the lovely man on the reception who was very friendly. EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. Gutted I couldn't grab his name. Outdated furniture inside the room / carpet needs uplifting.
Towel rail inside the bathroom was rusty.
Also the pool area needs upgrading / more sunbeds and modernise the space around.
- Leah (3/5): Ok. Staff were friendly but the vibe was off. The place felt creepy and did not feel comfortable - The room was clean and breakfast was ok and the pool water was warm. Pool area dirty- chairs had cobwebs etc.
Room was hot- no fan or air conditioning during high temperatures
Bed- mattress uncomfortable
Kettle- had mould in it
Building- creepy/ broken window/ lots of empty rooms
- Felix (8/5): Overall very good experience - Location and room was good Can offer complimentary breakfast
- Duignan (10/5): - Didn't stay no a answer on night I didn't get in
- Gary (10/5): - All ok

- Loool (8/5): Happy with our stay - The hotel is being renovated so facilities were limited, but we got the room at a decent discount because of this. Steve the manager explained the situation and was very helpful during our stay. The room was clean, warm and comfortable, which was enough for us in this occasion. The kitchen wasn't functioning, so no breakfast was available, but we managed by getting our own ... shops are very near, and coffee and tea were provided in the room anyway.
- Munn (7/5): - Hotel is lovely and in the perfect location š The new male owner taking my breakfast off my plate, stating it wasn't self service, even though the previous day it was self service. He literally took a sausage off my plate! However the new female owner had a lovely, friendly attitude.
- Donna (4/5): Beautiful hotel but very disorganised with no personal touch - Perfect seafront area, decent size room, very clean, nice bathroom, plenty of hangers for clothes and comfortable bed with lovely bedding. There was no one on reception at check in time and only a phone number to call, the place seemed deserted, only one option for breakfast with no menu, or continental option. The breakfast came out within 2 minutes so not freshly cooked to order and the breakfast was of poor quality. There was a wedding at the venue and it was assumed that we were there for the wedding which we were not. Overall very disappointed. Staff not very welcoming as they seemed preoccupied with the wedding booking, also there was no one present on check out with no number to call so no personal touch whatsoever, just had to post the key though the letter box and leave.
- Rebecca (10/5): -
- Jill (5/5): - Location, pool Bins not emptied and towels not changed
- Sue (8/5): Fabulous hotel in the best position in Shanklin -owners canāt do enough for you to have a great stay ā¤ļø - Great new owners, had only been in there couple of weeks and were trying their hardest to cope with a full hotel on bank holiday weekend! The breakfasts just got better and better, music every night, bouncy castles for kiddies, they pulled it all off!
The hotel has loads of parking and is only a short walk down to esplanade and gorgeous beach bar. Great views from the decking also next to the bar - didnāt manage to get to pool but heard people enjoying it. I found the bed a bit uncomfortable, but am used to a memory foam top - might be an idea to add toppers to beds?
- Katie (5/5): We were grateful the new team honoured our stay after a mix up with the bookings our rooms were double booked. I wish th - Location
Friendly staff
Children/teens loved it especially the pool table and pool The property is in great need of some tlc and a deep clean.
- Steve (8/5): 1st 2 week guests at the sunrise - Stayed for 2weeks new owners had only been there 2 weeks but did all they could to make our stay a pleasant 1 whilst putting their own stamp on the place, all the staff were very helpful , nice breakfast etc , will deffoe use the sunrise hotel again . Nothing to complain about .
- Ericka (7/5): -
- Joanne (2/5): - The hotel is in a very good position views are lovely It is such a shame as this was my second time at this hotel the first time was amazing hence why I returned .......this time there was no one one reception the floor in the dining room was sticky after the night before the pool was out of use the first and second day the breakfast was ok but the third day the owner said was not to be self service and was rude
- Jalal Ahmad (4/5): -
- Chris (10/5): - The Sunrise hotel is an excellent place to stay. I stayed here with my two children during August 2025. There were beautiful sea views from our family room, bouncy castles at the front, a fun swimming pool at the back, ample parking, lovely staff and a great breakfast each morning. A new family have just taken over the hotel and have hit the ground running, they're doing a great job and are some of the friendliest hoteliers I've met.
My two girls loved their stay, they especially liked the swimming pool which we were able to have all to ourselves sometimes. The pool is clean and warm, with a shallow and deep end. Our room was clean, spacious, with comfy beds and a fantastic sea view.
I rate this hotel 5/5. I can't fault it really, it was great value for money.
- Phil (7/5): New owners, working hard - This hotel has recently been taken over. The new family owners are extremely pleasant and friendly. They are working hard to upgrade the hotel and deserve to be successful. A few obvious things would improve the service. Typically, basic toiletries (soap, shampoo) should be provided. Tea and Coffee supplies should be checked and replenished on a daily basis. Do not disturb notices should be provided. Bags of linen awaiting collection by the laundry providers are on display, out of sight storage would improve the image.
- Pete (9/5): -
- Emily (6/5): - Friendly staff Could put complementary water in room
- Nick (10/5): -
- Ann (8/5): -
- Grzegorz (10/5): - When we arrived, we were warmly welcomed. The room and bed size were fine. The hotel's heated pool was great. The staff and owners were wonderful, very pleasant people. Good breakfast. I recommend it. Best regards, Greg.
and what is important for us, you can come with your dog
- Jenika (9/5): Great hotel near the beach - The hotel is very close to the beach. Rooms at the top have a sea view. The family rooms were spacious and had a large bathroom with a bath. The breakfast was delicious. They have a bar in the basement and a nice-sized pool. Lots of free parking spaces with plenty of garden seating with greenery around. They had bouncy castles for kids in the garden during our stay. The staff were very friendly and always ready to help. They didn't have a lift
- jack (8/5): Stay was good new owners were great and most helpful - No hot breakfast which we paid for because kitchen was closed for hot food We could have been told in advance that the hotel was under new ownership
We booked this hotel because we took our grand childen for the swimming which was closed.
- Frances (1/5): Absolutely awful - What breakfast hit or miss if we got any. New owners took over hotel on second dayafter that asked for room services ie milk coffee Yuletide roll but had to make repeated requesters for them. Owners wife ended up making a poor attempt at breakfast but we ended up making do with toast. We would have gone home in disgust bot weāre stuck there till the ferry on Friday . Horrendous!!!!!! Eh!!! A new hotel
- Simon (8/5): Very good - Great location, breakfast and staff excellent. Could be cleaner and communal areas are a little tired.
- Robin (8/5): Very pleasant - Friendly new owners, rooms were clean and spacious, outdoor pool, good breakfast
- Dhammu (7/5): Good - The room . The amenities
- Rawlani (10/5): Exceptional - Very good
- Thomas (8/5): Very good -
- Lackundeo (9/5): Superb - Good place to stay Being on the 3rd floor
- Charlotte (8/5): Very good - Excellent location.
Comfortable room.
Breakfast v good Staff in reception and bar area a little inexperienced (young). Owners not around, problem with no hot water.
- Keith (9/5): Idea location with children for the Beach and Amusements in Shanklin - We where travelling with two grandchildren and had a family room (27). It had two single beds and a double which worked for us all. The view was lovely from this room looking across the bay to Sandown (see attached image). The Bathroom was a nice size and clean.
A positive for the hotel was it has its own swimming pool which the grandchildren made the use of. Staff where nice and friendly and the breakfast was freshly cooked in the morning. The breakfast room had a lovely view across the bay.
Its location for the beach and various activity's for the children was a short walk down the hill. With a bus stop outside the hotel which enabled access to other parts of the Island.
- Ravishankar (10/5): Exceptional -
- Thakur (10/5): Exceptional -
- Michael (5/5): Could be brilliant, but sadly less than average - Clean No hot water, limited service for everything, got breakfast order wrong
- Annika (9/5): Very friendly and homely hotel with a view, close to the beach - Family of three enjoyed our visit. The child took swims in the pool and there was a bar. The staff was really friendly and helpful. A comfortable room with a nice climate and beds. If we missed anything (which we didnāt) it would be a minifridge to keep our water cold.
- Graham (5/5): Mediocre - We only had continental but there was not much choice. It advertises a Restaurant but other than breakfast we could not get any other meals or snacks.
- Rahil (6/5): Pleasant - Location is very nice and good view It was so noisy floors when you wakl hallway or anywhere in or outside of rooms and very small rooms
- Vivienne (7/5): Enjoyable but could have been better - Staff very friendly and helpful
Comfy bed
Good views
Very good breakfast Put on 4th floor with no lift
Bathroom tired shaver socket not working
dripping tap -Lino cracked
No wardrobe
- Laura (6/5): Pleasant - Lovely outside seating area for bar, Seaview room, location excellent for beach. Friendly staff. Overall a decent stay. Little bit rundown, needs some TLC. Pool area such a big selling point, so such a shame there are no decent seating/sun loungers by it, would make all the difference. Breakfast basic. No soap in room. Bathroom tiny. Rubbish pillows!
- Trisha (9/5): Superb -
- Claire (8/5): Very good - Quadruple room with one double and twofull sized single beds was just what we needed. Big spacious bathroom and bedroom. Towels and toiletries provided too. Brilliant freshly cooked breakfast
- Steven (8/5): Very good -
- Tracy (5/5): Passable - The staff were friendly and helpful, always polite The hotel was tired in it's decor and presentation for the price per night
The rooms were basic, bed was comfortable but the blinds were broken, the toilet brush was extremely soiled and discoloured with faeces absolutely disgusting, the cost to replace would only be a few pounds, the hairdryer didn't work and the most recent PAT test was 2011
The handle on the bathroom was broken and screws needed tightening.
The rooms were cleaned by young people and I am just not sure they test the equipment or are letting the management know when things are broken
The toilet brush was disgusting and absolutely no need for this not to be replaced
Won't be returning
- Lisa (8/5): Very good - Clean, friendly staff, lovely breakfast and lots of tea/coffee etc in room plus toiletries Nothing
- Phil (9/5): Superb - Great choice for breakfast, great staff, really friendly, well stocked bar
- Maria (8/5): Very good -
- Yash (7/5): Good - Location was great and cleanliness of the room and bathroom was excellent.
Hotel was peaceful and staff was welcoming and friendly.
Hotel has a small open swimming pool which was open and maintained.
There are no lifts at the property. Must be same for lot of other places around the island. We had elderly parents but we missed checking this before booking.
The place has a bar with a pool table and sofas where you can spend the evening. Breakfast was not great and though we had provided specifics for each individual as per the breakfast form it was all mixed up as some of us were pure vegetarian.
There was no hot milk for tea/coffee either. When we asked for it we were informed that they donāt keep it as an option for breakfast as there was hot water.
- Bianca (8/5): Good for value - Simple hotel but clean , staff was nice and helpful and the view was amazing. Very close to the beach, bus stop and entertainment. A bit dated
- Pearl (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place. Incredible value.
- John (8/5): We had a lovely stay. - It is in a good location, easy walk from the train station. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable room. Nice breakfast. Close to the beach. No complaints.
- Ken (4/5): Basic - Location was great, breakfast was acceptable, younger staff not very professional, Ian was great , plenty of customer service and always checking everything ok Swimming pool
Younger staff unprofessional
- Nigel (8/5): Very good - Location and breakfast
- Kuruppuarachchi (8/5): Very good -
- Swati (8/5): Very good -
- Sara (8/5): Enjoyable stay. - The hotel was clean and looked recently painted. It was close to the sea front and cliff walks. Friendly helpful staff. Breakfast was freshly cooked to order. There was an outdoor pool which was well maintained. Didnāt use the bar area.
- Elizabeth (1/5): Ok - Breakfast was lovely
Location very good A lot of TLC,(bedroom furniture, bathroom,a lot of items broken, bad stains,
- Dale (10/5): Overnight stay2 - Staff were very helfpful and friendly, ample parking. Room well well equipped and cleannothing we didnt lime Nothing we didnt like
- Paul (4/5): Disappointing -
- Terry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (7/5): nice location , basic hotel - Nice staff and lovely location with adequate onsite parking, Nice breakfast facilities. Bedrooms were dated with uncomfortable mattresses and lacklustre showers
- Rowe (1/5): Bad - Location Room wasn't cleaned . Breakfast was terrible. Bed very uncomfortable. Couldn't get a proper shower.the shower head was too low only came to my shoulder height.
- Damien (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing sea view, lovely breakfast and friendly staff
- Teresa (8/5): Good value and great location - Great location, friendly staff, good breakfast, good facilities with bar, pool table darts and outdoor pool
- Carly (10/5): Exceptional -
- Ron (7/5): Good -
- Hardy (10/5): For good days no ,negatives - We were very happy with everything staff excellent, very clean every where.breakfast all you wanted. Only the weather was what you would expect mid April.
- Crystal (10/5): Exceptional - Everyone was lovely and friendly. Breakfast was nice and the bar having a pool table and dart board was a nice touch as we didnāt have great weather. Amazing location.
- Michael (8/5): Good Hotel but a few let-downs - The hotel was quite well located. The staff (apart from 1 young lady) were friendly and welcoming. Check in/check out was quick and easy. The family room was adequate, clean and spacious with nice view of the sea. The lack of a Lift (very important for the upper floors and people who cannot climb stairs or have very young children). The wind noise coming in from the gables through the windows at night were abit disturbing.
The WIFI did not work.
On our last night, we were unable to purchase drinks at the bar as were told there was no money/float on site to give change etc., and only card payments( not everyone has or likes to pay by card). Also the young lady serving on Sunday night gave the impression with her attitude that she didn't want to be there, not welcoming or pleasant.
On our last day, this lady was also in the breakfast room, upon us entering the room, no greeting was given, she just said, " go sit wherever you like." She had the same "I
don't want to be here" attitude as the night before. We sat at our table, filled out the Menu Choice cards and waited and waited and waited, but she didnt collect the cards, eventually another Guest came over to our table and said, You better take your cards and give it to her as she won't collect them". On previous days we were welcomed with a friendly "good morning" and a smile by another lady who offered us a choice of tables and also collected the Menu Choice cards from our table.
No dinner or lunch on offer during this time(Easter break).
- Gillian (8/5): Very good - good and good
- Arun (7/5): Good stay but could have been better - Location was perfect . Very close to the beach with awesome beach view. Very good breakfast options. Facilities should be more. Hair dryer did not work. Water Kettle looks very old with little rust and salt at its bottom
- Tanya (8/5): Very good -
- Ramavarahalu (9/5): Superb -
- Vijay (8/5): Very good -
