Guest Reviews
- Peter (9/5): Excellent, will go back - Location was excellent for what we required
- Julie (10/5): A breath of fresh Air. - What a fantastic lodge, stunning views, has everything you need, welcome hamper was lovely, would absolutely stay here again. Communication with host is excellent. There is nothing not to like.
- Eimantas (1/5): We vacated the property after one night due to serious safety hazards, including an electrical fault - Location - beautiful. The playground is nice. Good parking. Nice coastal trail in a beautiful forest. Unfortunately, this stay ruined our holiday and we felt we had no choice but to leave and find another accommodation. On arrival, there was a strong smell of mold throughout the chalet, visible mildew in the bathroom, and dog hair left over from previous guests. The kitchen was also in a poor state, with a dirty microwave and mold growing on the window blind. It was far below the standard we expected.
Beyond the cleanliness, we had serious safety concerns. The bedside light in the children’s bedroom flickered whenever the table was touched (clearly an electrical fault, not a bulb on its way out as mentioned by the host), and the television was mounted insecurely with cellar tape. The host actually admitted in messages they were "waiting for a new mount," yet they still rented the unit out in that condition.
We tried to resolve this in a friendly manner without any ill intent, simply asking for a refund for the night we didn't stay so we could move elsewhere. However, the host was dismissive and refused to help.
Traveling with children, these issues made it impossible to relax or feel safe. Instead of a holiday, we had the stress and expense of finding another place at short notice. Don't be fooled by previous high reviews, this was a very poor experience and we wouldn't recommend it to other families.
- Bethany (10/5): Children approved - Loved the bunk beds for the children’s room, exciting for the children and gave more floor space. Loved the added amenities such as bed rail for young children. Loved the welcome pack on arrival. Loved the communication from owners before arrival. N/A
- Peter (9/5): Really enjoyed our stay at Driftwood Lodge. Hope to be back soon - Nice decor. Stunning view. Good communication with host
- Linda (8/5): Pleasant stay in comfortable chalet. Well kitted out. - Compact, clean & nice view No instructions for using coffee maker or cooker
- Omega (10/5): - I loved the location never been, a friend recommended Bideford sea valley park. great places to visit Bucks mill. Atlantic Bay fish and chip shop.
- Jason (8/5): If you need to have a nice peaceful and relaxing few days this is a great place to stay. - Nice little attention to detail as in a loaf of bread, jam, butter, milk and orange juice. Clean and everything there you would need. Oh and the binoculars were a lovely touch as we watched the little bunnies come out in the evening! Just a few little minor things that we personally would have like to have been a tad better…. Shower could have been warmer, bed was to soft (back problems so I was a little crippled in the morning) lol…. 😂
- Marc (10/5): Happy little chalet, has everything you need for short relaxing break. - Welcoming, had everything you’d need, plus the welcome basket was excellent. Clean, comfortable. Nothing, but was on slight steep hill, which was a little problematic as I have difficulty with my knees
- Tammy (9/5): We had a fantastic stay - Every thing was a lovely little lodge Only issue was the flush on toilet had to flush it few times
- Lindsay (9/5): Great place. - Lovely chalet, nicely decorated & comfortable. Beautiful views.
The only downside was the walk from the car to the chalet up the hill but we managed. We arrived late & the path was barely lit which was a bit dangerous.
Great situation for visiting the area. N/A
- Rebecca (10/5): -
- Peonides (10/5): - Location, facilities, added extras like milk, bread etc.
- Graham (10/5): Excellent stay, would definitely recommend - Such an easy transaction Nothing
- James (8/5): Fabulous little chalet with great views. - It was clean. Communication was good. The views were brilliant. The welcome pack was very welcome. Everyone we met was very friendly. The Wifi didn’t work but it was only a minor issue as we were out or playing games for the majority of the time.
- Jacqueline (9/5): Peaceful, everything is there that you need. The sea view is lovely - Everything you need is there, they have thought of everything, even a hair dryer. The welcome pack it a lovely gesture, the property is snuggly and warm. it is amazing to have so much choice to watch on the tv- Netflix etc - the main park facilities were closed - but that made it very quiet perfect for what we wanted, the view is fab through the trees to the sea. There is a short walk to the property and up a slight hill ( no parking outside the chalet) -make sure you have all the shopping you need as its a long way if you have forgotten something. (10 to 15 mins )
- Fran (9/5): Home From Home - Gorgeous lodge, nicely furnished, and a super comfy double bed. Kitchen is well equipped and the welcome basket is a lovely touch. Both the owners of this lodge and the couple who own the lodge next door really couldn't have been nicer. Would definitely stay again, the view from the lounge is glorious. A real home from home. I was just there to chill, and the TV loses its internet connection quite frequently, so I never quite got to the end of any show or movie haha. Parking is a short walk away, only an issue for anyone with mobility issues (or lots of bags!)
- Kathryn (10/5): - The view was amazing and Driftwood was very cosy and had everything we needed for a couple of nights away. Nothing, it was great.
- Mandy (5/5): Not the best - Very nice welcome pack. Living room lamp very low. Both hit heads on it several times.
Shower not very warm.
Floor in bathroom had lots of hair and toilet appeared to be leaking at the base. Large crack in bathroom sink.
Heard a rodent scratching in cupboard under sink.
- Edmund (9/5): Very good -
- Mark (10/5): Had a lovely stay, there was nothing that was needed everything was supplied. Would definitely book again 😀😀 - Had amazing views. Everything you needed and more Was very clean great size and cosy
- shannon (10/5): -
- Emma (9/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): - Very cosy and nicely decorated. Amazing view, can’t ask for much more. Nothing
- Carmel (10/5): Really lovely chalet, we went out of season so no facilities but we knew that. Great part of Devon - Clean, tidy, great view and the lovely touch of a little food package Nothing
- Lisa (8/5): - All was very comfortable bed especially good
Lovely that they took time to leave a basket of goodies very welcoming There was a smell of camping the bedrooms
- Ruth (9/5): We had a lovely stay and would come back again if we come that way. - Felt like home. Bed was too short for my husband. There seems to be a leak in the bathroom as there was water on the floor. The coffee machine didn’t work (not a massive deal for us, but might be for someone else).
- Claude (8/5): - Well equipped cabin with everything needed inside, including a pair of binoculars to watch for birds and boats in the bay.
Perfect location for Clivelly and Devon countryside exploring. Not easy to find at all as cabin are numbered with a rather odd logic
Not sure what is the définition of a patio for the owner....if he/she calls a patio a50 cm concrète passageway ( leading to other cabins) on which is installer a 20 cm x 1 meter plank of wood as a bench...then there is a patio...in our world ( France and London) we do not have the same définition of a patio !!
As for the garden, its location is a mistery...from the kitchen & bedroom rear windows, wild plants on the narrow hedge can be seen...
- Monica (10/5): Lovely host, clean and welcoming place - The place was so welcoming, the host is brilliant! What a lovely surprise it was to find the bread and the butter at our arrival! It felt like home! The whole place was so chic and clean. The kitchen was very well equipped with everything we needed.
- Hugh (9/5): Beautiful location, holiday let was perfect 😀 - Exceptionally clean and tidy. Lovely little treats(biscuits, bread, Jam, Milk, Tea md Coffee). Nothing not to like!
- Meghan (8/5): -
- Mark (9/5): - Well equipped
- Robert (9/5): - Great accomodation amd location. Helpful host.
- Claudia (10/5): Views for days! - A perfect location and a beautiful view. Loved the interior design. Had everything we needed 🩷
- Kerry (9/5): Wonderful and already booked again for next year. - Stunning views and location. Has everything you would need and the outdoor pool is amazing Wi-Fi dropped out a few times. Normally wouldn’t bother us as we would use our own phone data plans but couldn’t get service and have an autistic child who relays on her tablet at times for regulating. Was able to distract her with other things though so not a biggy.
- Marcia (10/5): Wonderful lodge overlooking the bay - Everything was perfect, such lovely accommodation, you have thought of everything and stunning views overlooking the bay. Thank you for the welcome basket, its such a lovely thought and very much appreciated. Nothing
- Elaine (9/5): -
- Wendy (8/5): - Nice location
Comfortable No instruction manual for telly , cooker
There was constant water on bathroom floor so must have something leaking
- Bettina (10/5): Un séjour très agréable dans un logement accueillant et très bien situé. - Logement bien équipé et bien situé avec vue sur la mer
- Jean (9/5): Wonderful - Lovely chalet with everything you want. Welcome pack was really thoughtful. Sea view
- Kerr (9/5): Fabulous location and value. - Absolutely lovely place to stay at exceptionally good value. Proprietor was very helpful with my enquiries and immediately attended to any of my concerns. A lovely welcome pack which was so unexpected and appreciated, and a view beyond words. Can't think of anything not to like.
- Linda (10/5): Loved staying there, close to many beaches to visit. Relaxing and peaceful stay. - Property is tidy, clean and cosy. All amenities you need in a kitchen is there. Fantastic sea views. The hosts are generous with leaving a welcome pack, milk, bread, butter, jam and orange juice. There is nothing to add, just need a helmet for guests over 6 foot tall, the light fitting is low snd hubby had few knocks 🤣🤣
- Heulwen (10/5): Great view, great amenities, great place. - Property had everything you could think of- umbrellas for the rain, first aid kit, salt n pepper. All the little bits you forget. Amazing view and very comfortable throughout. Nothing
- Hurt (10/5): Fabulous break - Lovely clean chalet with every you would need and more
- Sophie (10/5): Perfect 60th Birthday - The location was perfect so peaceful and quiet. And the view was amazing. Loved sitting out on the bench in the evenings listening to the owls and watching the rabbits in the morning.
Was a great holiday to celebrate my 60th Birthday Nothing all perfect
- Geraldine (8/5): Thankyou for a great stay. Loved the walks nearby for the dog. I had a very relaxing stay and the pup even relaxed. - Great little place. Home to home feeling . All the things you need for a self catering holiday WiFi & Signal was a bit rubbish but it didn’t dampen the stay
- Sharon (10/5): great location and well equipped place to stay. extra homely touches including a welcome pack. - location amazing with sea views to wake up too. very clean and welcoming on arrival. park also very clean and all staff friendly and helpful. great communication with hosts who were also very kind to change our dates slightly
this is our second time visiting this year and will be definitely rebooking for later in the year everything was perfect, including the weather
- Meek (8/5): Just what we wanted. - The chalet was ideally located, near to all the facilities, with wonderful sea view. The toilet which we had problems flushing.
- Coles (10/5): Perfect for our family weekend away x - Would 100% come back to stay again. We had everything we needed during our trip. The little welcome hamper was such a lovely touch, was expecting anything so was so lovely to see it when we arrived.
The owners were on hand all times to answer any messages and were so friendly.
Travelled with 2 adults and 2 kids and we had plenty of room!
Highly recommend and will definitely be back again.
Thankyou for a lovely stay xx
- Marian (9/5): On Day 2 I was thinking "I could live here!" - There was everything I needed. Everywhere was clean and the rooms were beautifully decorated with matching cushions and artefacts which made it so homely. The view was amazing expecially at sunset! The little bench outside was an added bonus! The toilet handle was quite loose so would not flush properly. Also there was a leak somewhere which ran across the bathroom floor and into the lounge. I couldn't see anything at first and wondered why the soles of my shoes were leaving marks everywhere! Compared to everything else this was just a small negative, easily cancelled out by the ddelightful chalet.
- Plamen (10/5): Exceptional - A holiday rental that is impeccably maintained and equipped with everything a guest might need for a comfortable stay.
- Nina (9/5): Superb -
- Charlotte (9/5): Driftwood Lodge - Lovely location clean and comfy property and a lovely touch with a grocery hamper on arrival and WiFi, lovely would book again ☺️ x N/A
- Julie (8/5): Very good -
- Faye (10/5): Great family holiday, home away from home - The lodge is beautifully decorated and very well stocked, a home away from home. The sea view is great and the play park is not too far away so the kids could have fun while we relaxed and watched them from the lodge. The welcome package from the hosts was a thoughtful addition after a long drive when arriving. Central to lots of daily adventures, we visited Lundy Island, Croyde, Boscastle, the Milky Way adventure park and enjoyed the 30mins woodland coastal walk from the lodge to the waterfall on Bucks Mills beach.
Would recommend this beautiful property for a family holiday. We loved it!
- Robinson (7/5): Good - Water leak from loo which flooded bathroom floor. Wasn't sure how to contact owner. Had to wait for site maintenance to mend it the next day.
The chalet also smelt very musty. Owners obviously aware of problem as there were small dehumidifiers in rooms.
Apart from these problems and once the water leak was sorted, the chalet was serviceable.
- Louise (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kay (8/5): Perfect for a short stay. - We liked the view and that it was pet friendly. The fantastic kitchen facilities - there was everything you need to cook family meals.
The essentials were supplied such as hand wash, shower gel, washing up equipment.
The beds and pillows were super comfy.
Attention to detail in the decor was appreciated making it feel holiday homely.
We stayed in a cold month yet were able to warm the accommodation easily and quickly. The condensation making things like the curtains and duvet feel damp after we’d been out for the day - we did stay in December though so I guess this is to be expected in a property like this.
The shower - it was tricky to get a consistent warm temperature.
- Kerri (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (10/5): Perfect weekend will definitely book again - Clean cosy and decorated lovely . Great views Everything was perfect
- Shellie (10/5): Exceptional - Beautifully situated and the hosts were fantastic!
- Shar (10/5): Absolutely delightful way to get away into nature - Gorgeous views but also the host is very accommodating. Lots of little extra amenities that really make for a special touch. Could have slightly better heating facilities but they did have excellent WiFi which was a surprise that made up for it
- Angela (9/5): Great little place to stay - I liked the welcome pack, the view was stunning, the keys easy to access and return and the lounge had enough seating for all of us. The shower was great. I would have liked a few more teaspoons and a bedside table that catered for the top bunk bed as well as the lower one.
- Samantha (9/5): Superb -
- Clive (8/5): Very good -
- Graham (10/5): Wonderful stay. Loved it. - Really good location and comfortable and convenient facilities.
- Sharon (10/5): a fab location, perfect for couples with or without a dog. amazing views - welcome pack was lovely.

- Victoria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire (10/5): Fantastic - The whole place was extremely clean and excellent value for money.
- Charlotte (9/5): Cosy Cabin, Value For Money - This is a lovely lodge with a good sea view, the binoculars are a nice extra touch! Cozy beds, a peaceful night sleep as it's very quiet. We had a great welcome pack with plenty to last us during our 2 night stay. It's a good location; plenty of parking, and close to the Milky-Way, Big Sheep, Affinity shopping centre, and a 15 minute walk to the beach. Recommended place to stay! It was quite dusty, although the overall cleanliness of everything else was OK. That's the only 'negative'. Would stay again :)
- Kathy (7/5): I really appreciated the welcome pack, the view of the sea and the peace and quiet. - The interior was clean with a great fridge and nice touches to make it feel homely The shower was very inadequate in terms of heat and power. The bed was too soft and the bedroom very small. I kept hitting my ankle on the end of the bed.
- Sian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Terry (8/5): Would stay again - Very clean and everything you needed
- Stuart (9/5): Superb -
- Dean (10/5): Exceptional - Great amenities, perfect for what we needed
- Judith (10/5): Ideal for SWCP - The place was immaculate, great welcome pack and fully equipped Nothing
- Tracy (8/5): Very good - The location, cleanliness, comfort etc The only bad thing was the light fitting that my husband banged his head on, as he is over 6 foot. Not really a major negative. Just a niggle
- Sally (10/5): My mum and I had a relaxed and comfortable stay because everything was spotless and we had the perfect sized welcome pac - Cosy, homely, welcoming, beautifully decorated, great facilities and to top it off, the chalet is in a peaceful location with a wonderful sea view. Nothing
- Helen (8/5): Very good - Lovely views, quiet setting. Compact well fitted chalet. Fully furnished with everything we needed. Beds were comfy.. grandchildren loved the bunkers and the whole chalet was beach themed. Safe environment for the dogs who also enjoyed their stay Shower unit compact. Slight damp smell but opened the windows and it soon cleared.
- Melanie (8/5): We had a lovely stay and would definitely go back - Good location with great views. It was also well equipped. The WiFi wasn’t very good.
- Sarah (9/5): Lovely comfortable lodge with great views - Lovely lodge, clean, nicely decorated and comfortable. Welcome pack a lovely extra. Great location and great views! The holiday park was over priced re food etc but I guess that's usual for these type of places.
- Yuyan (10/5): Exceptional - We had an amazing stay. Very well equipped, lovely welcome back, fabulous surroundings and playground for the children. WiFi not working, neither is my 4G... We did enjoy device-free time though.
- Skye (10/5): Exceptional -
- Antoinette (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely chalet everything you would need supplied, good location
- Gertruda (10/5): Lovely stay, we hope we can come back! - The lodge was super comfortable, clean and had everything you may need for a short break. The host communicated well before the trip and treated us with a welcome basket, thank you!
- Wendy (10/5): A lovely location. - It was a lovely chalet in a stunning location with views to die for. The welcome pack was very welcome indeed, providing us with our first breakfast. We also appreciated the extras, such as the teabags, coffee pods, butter, extra loo rolls. Everything was provided which made our stay all the more comfortable. There wasn't anything that we didn't like. One observation was the light in the living area hangs quite low and my husband being tall did bang his head a couple of times.
- Jonathan (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (10/5): Great home from home whilst in Devon for a few days. - Lovely, peaceful location, close to amenities and the sea. Very clean and well-equipped. Great view.
- Amanda (10/5): Fabulous. - Fantastically decorated with a sea theme, very clean and tidy. Everything was there that you may need, nice to have a dishwasher and coffee maker. View was lovely and the manor was fab for food , swimming, playground and entertainment. Nothing
- Sally (10/5): We only stayed 2 nights but we were sad to leave and will definitely be back. - Very clean, very well equipped, lovely decor and to add to all of this, there was not only a stunning sea view but a welcome pack of bread, milk, juice and biscuits. The property was very close to the clubhouse too. Nothing
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - A lovely, comfortable, well-equipped little lodge, with a very nice welcome pack that included among others jam, marmalade, butter, orange juice, milk and bread. - Marc (10/5): Great Stay - The view and location. Nothing - the property was perfect!
- Marie (8/5): Very good -
- Nicci (9/5): Superb -
