Guest Reviews
- Jamie (10/5): Very relaxing mini break - Very clean, everything we needed and lovely
welcome hamper and good location to the town Nothing
- Linda (10/5): Excellent stay would come again - The property was spotless, well equipped, beds comfy, couldn’t have wanted more. Nothing, only downside is the parking.
But after 5 there is space across the toad and parking is free, we left our car there all week so wasn’t a problem.
- Sara (10/5): -
- Charlotte (7/5): Comfy house ideal for couples or group stays, not the best for young families. - Comfy beds
Close walk into Whitby
Clean, tidy house
Welcome hamper was a nice touch
Top floor bedroom and bathroom are lovely
House wasn’t an ideal fit for us but we made it work, it would be perfect for couples, group stays or I’d say children pre-teen/ older - Travel cot wasn’t usable, covered in mould including the storage cupboard so had to sleep our 1 year old in a bed with us (reported to owner)
- No highchair
- No washing machine
- bedroom above the living room has no curtains so the lights from outside beam right in through the blinds, we used a blanket to block light out
- stairs are very steep, not suitable for children
- advertised as with parking which was a big factor for us having young children, parking is only on the street which is double yellowed and rammed so it doesn’t have parking and shouldn’t advertise this.
We parked outside briefly to unpack and caught a parking warden trying to ticket us almost immediately.
- Paul (10/5): One of if not the best we have stayed it - The house was fantastic great location and very clean Only problem could be parking but was told about that and we had no problem parked virtually outside the house
- Mark (10/5): - Worked perfectly for us as one of our party has a disability so the location was ideal. Nothing
- Alexandra (10/5): We would definately stay here again and would highly recommend it . - The property was ideally situated a short walk into the centre on level ground.
It was exceptionally clean.
Great communication from the owners throughout.
2 bathrooms were a real bonus. There was nothing not to like
- Steven (10/5): Lovely house - Very clean and ideal accommodation for a small group.
The location being about a 10 minute walk from the centre of Whitby was ideal as there were limited free parking spaces available to leave the car for our 4 day stay
Would definitely stay again There was a deposit of £80 paid by bank transfer a month before we stayed which was refunded on the day of departure once we gave our bank details.
It worked ok but the booking form suggested it would be a cash deposit paid on the day of arrival and refunded on departure date assuming all ok.
Not a major problem though just different to expectations
- Rebecca (9/5): -
- emma (10/5): Birthday mini break - Absolutely amazing house had everything we needed & was just like home from home, great location very helpful owner would highly recommend & the welcome basket is a really nice touch They was nothing that we didn't like
- Michael (9/5): - Good Location, lovely house, managed to get parked across the road. Nothing to dislike about Elvington House, would stay there again.
- antony (10/5): Lovely house.comfortable warm and well equipped place to stay. - Immaculately clean and well equipped.
Comfy warm and a short walk into centre.
Ideal for families and couples alike. Steps were a little tricky to front door but we did have a push chair.
A high chair would have also been a help.
- Lyn (9/5): - Location was excellent except for parking. Host was informative and everything you needed.
- 007Edwardo (10/5): - Great location.
Spotless clean.
Log fire.
Comfortable beds.
Every possible utility. Leaving.
- Peter (9/5): Our stay at Elvington House - The location of the property was absolutely fine. The property is warm and well equipped for your stay; due to the extremely cold weather, this was important. This side of the river has some really good pubs and places to eat whilst feeling more conservative than the town centre. Access to town is easily within walking distance. I don't have anything negative to say other than the parking was awkward as there weren't any on-street spaces available. We overcame this by using the paid parking opposite the Endevour Pub. This car park, however, has limited spaces, and you may have to go further afield to park.
- Rachel (10/5): Absolutely beautiful Property - The house was spotless and very homely. Biscuits tea bags and a lovely bottle of white wine on arrival.. lovely touch. Great location. Will definitely return. We searched the kitchen for a toaster. Had everything else. Not essential. But we had taken butter and bread for toast in a morning.
- Debbie (9/5): - Great facilities, very clean and cosy. Had everything we needed. Nothing
- Keri-ann (9/5): -
- Joanne (9/5): Cosy, clean, modern in a great location - The property is in a an excellent location - just few mins walk from centre and the Abbey/seafront. It’s clean, modern and has all the amenities you need - air fryer, toaster etc We did take our own hairdryer. Beautifully dressed for Christmas. Kirsty was very responsive - we had a very minor issue - sorted in minutes. Parking available on street and at a nearby car park. Nothing
- Pauline (7/5): Overall Good - Good location, home from home, had everything we needed Communication not great, messages on arrival to host went unanswered.
- Julie (10/5): The 5 L's - House wonderful ,good location ,comfy beds ,clean and had every thing we needed Nothing
- joy (8/5): A good vacation would stay again - Clean and tidy, everything available Short 10 min walk into town
- susan (10/5): -
- phil (10/5): - Spotlessly clean, everything we needed ideal location.
- Lucy (10/5): - The house was everything we could have wanted and more. Kitchen facilities provided everything you could need. Parking was a bit tricky, took 15 minutes to find an available spot in a paid car park a 20 minute walk away
- Dale (10/5): -
- Nancy (9/5): A lovely home for a family stay in Whitby. - Bathrooms were very nice with great showers. The kitchen and living rooms were comfortable and cozy. Everything was very clean. It was a lovely touch that the hosts left us wine and other goodies. Having TV with streaming in every room was also a nice bonus. Parking was a bit difficult.
- Jane (9/5): - Communication with the owner was excellent and the location of the property was great. It was clean and comfortable with a lovely welcome basket. It would have been nice to have another sofa in the living room, but it didn't stop us from having a lovely time.
- Jade (10/5): Really lovely home, will recommend to friends - Clean, spacious & close to town. It was difficult to get parked.
- Jean (9/5): A Whitby break with family - The house was Clean and well presented we enjoyed our stay. It would have been nice to have had an extra chair in the living room as it was a bit of a squeeze for the 4 of us on the settee, also I thought a mirror near a plug in the 1st floor bedroom would've been a nice touch to do hair and make up but I managed anyway by going to the second floor bedroom
- Jane (8/5): Very nice and well presented property - Exceptionally clean well presented house. Only a short walk to the town. Lovely comfortable bed and very nice shower. Whitby is never an easy place for parking and finding a place near to the house was a challenge. The road is quite noisy but then Whitby is a busy old place.
- Nicholas (10/5): Great house in a great location. - The location was fantastic. A short walk over the bridge into the main town. The house was modern and clean and had everything you would need. There was a welcome basket with a bottle of wine, teabags and biscuits which was a lovely touch. Its hard to get parked but you can pull up right outside and unload and then if you cant park on the road there are plenty of car parks so it wasnt really a problem.
- Chris (10/5): Lovely stay in Whitby - Everything was great. Lovely cottage which was spacious and well equipped in a great location
- Ingrid (10/5): Lovely! - What a lovely house in a lovely town. The house was clean, comfortable and offered everything we needed. We enjoyed the nice welcome package. Difficult to find parking space.
- Susan (8/5): We really enjoyed our stay and the host was great. Thanks - Great location and the house has everything you need for your stay. Finding a free parking spot close to house was a bit if a struggle, but all ok in the end
- Ivy (9/5): Will return - Location short pleasurable walk. Lovely fluffy white towels and decent shower. clean property with all you need
- Marcos (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sharon (10/5): Fabulous everything - Everything perfect for our yearly Whitby stay Nothing
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (9/5): Superb - Spotlessly clean, lovely touch with the wine, tea bags and biscuits. Could of done with a pint of milk in the fridge.
Very lucky if you get a parking space on the road, but we knew this.
- Branson (9/5): Superb - House has everything you could need Parking was a problem which I expected for Whitby but think the description sounded it may be easier than it was
- Elaine (8/5): Very good -
- Patricia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kimberley (9/5): Amazing location - Amazing location! Couldn’t have asked for better. Very clean and smelt nice. Spacious bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, very comfy beds. Already want to book again for next year. Highly recommend.
- Lindsey (9/5): Superb - My family and I stayed at Elvington house for 3 nights at the beginning of April, the house was very clean and had everything that could be needed for your stay. The house is nicely decorated and cosy. Communication with Kirsty was very good and she was very helpful to any questions we had. The little chip shop that is 2 minuet walk away on the same road is very good and reasonably priced, would recommend. The walk into town is a lovely scenic walk of about 10 mins or under. Lots to see and do. There is free street parking on the same road, you may have to be a bit patient and wait for a parking space to become avaible or there is a car park further along the road closer to town that's reasonable. We would highly recommend staying here and plan to return in the future.
- Rebecca (10/5): A fabulous comfy stay in a great location - The layout, the shower, location and welcome hamper!
- Wendy (10/5): Exceptional - Really cosy, and.clean. lovely shower and good location. N/a

- Matthew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Donna (10/5): Relaxing comfortable and well rested - I love how the house feels like a home and the cleanliness was amazing. Also having Netflix to watch is a big plus for us . Only thing i would put the tv where the lamp is so when ur sat on the sofa you dont have to pull the tv forward
- Gareth (9/5): Superb - Quiet, well appointed. Just ideal for a few days Nothing.
- Nicola (10/5): Exceptional -
- Claire (10/5): family weekend away - welcome hamper. good location. excellent customer service. lovely house. nothing
- Gregory (8/5): Very good -
- Richard (10/5): What a lovely cosy home to stay in - Spotless clean and everything g you need close to free roadside parking and town Nothing , everything was in tip top … a really nice home
- Chris (9/5): Superb -
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Natalie (9/5): Superb - Great location , short walk from town , would be difficult with elderly family.
Beds really comfy , linen fab. Cute hamper with wine , t.bags, and biscuits 😋
Short distance to sandsend and Robin hoods Bay. Aldi and sainsburys 4 mins by car .
Well cute place . Just thought maybe a small chair in the living room and maybe a nest of tables . As we were a party of 5 . Slightly cramped on the couch . But loved the space .
- Helen (6/5): Cold House - Cute house, very clean in a great location It was cold. On the first day, we boosted the heating to combat the cold, rainy weather and to dry our wet coats on the radiator when we came back from walking.
On Sunday morning, the Hive thermostat wouldn't connect, and we couldn't get it fixed.
After a few hours of messages back and forth with no solution, we decided to leave a day early. The weather was still terrible, and we didn't fancy a cold, wet night.
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional - Good communication from host before and after stay. Safety deposit returned swiftly on leaving. The house is beautiful, very comfortable, decorated and furnished to a high standard and loved the hamper on arrival, a very nice touch. Excellent location very easy to walk into the town and easy to find. Also close to the bus stop to travel to Robin hoods Bay which was great after walking there we caught the bus back and got dropped at the end of the road. That there's no guaranteed parking space, although once we managed to get a space on the road we didn't need to move it again so it all worked OK.
- Robin (10/5): Exceptional - Super location, excellent accommodation and very clean.Would highly recommend this property. Nothing I didn't like.
- Kathleen (9/5): Excellent value, comfortable and relaxing - Lovely , clean and welcoming. Everything you could possibly need was provided and a very thoughtful welcome basket was waiting for us , fabulous Nothing
- Lucy (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (10/5): Beautiful house very nice host would stop again - Loved the beds they were so comfortable Not great parking but this was explained in the listing
- Marcos (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful house, everything was clean and well presented. Near to the town and amenities. Parking in Whitby is always an issue but we found some places nearby without difficulty. N/A
- Charlotteteesside (10/5): 10 out of 10 - We loved our stay, the house is perfectly sized and is beautifully presented! What a brilliant location, far enough out of town to be nice and quiet, close enough for a lovely stroll into town! There is a fish and chip shop on the same street literally 30 seconds away, so it's really handy for eating dinner at home! I often struggle sleeping when i stay away from home, but we all slept really well. The beds were perfect for us!
The hosts were brilliant too, easy instructions for getting into the house ect, any questions we had answered quickly!
We would 1 million percent stay here again if we were back in Whitby! We had the best stay! Thank you :) There was nothing we didn't like! It was perfect!
- Verity (10/5): A delightful terraced house, well equipped, clean and really nicely furnished - Really lovely house in excellent location Difficult to park nearby

- Ashley (10/5): Our stay was perfect. We couldn’t have asked for anymore. - We loved everything about Elvington house. It has been done to a very high standard and it was absolutely immaculate. There was also a welcome pack which was a very nice touch. It also contained some very useful information for our stay. The owners were brilliant, they were very easy to contact and couldn’t do enough to help from start to finish. We will definitely stay again and will be recommending to other people. There was nothing we didn’t like. We loved everything.
- Gavin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (10/5): Beautiful place to stay - The whole place has been done to a lovely standard, everything was as should be, super comfy beds, super welcoming atmosphere, lovely location a short walk from town, its one of the nicest places I've stayed in for a long time and we'll definitely be back!
- Kerrie (10/5): A really lovely, well appointed house in a really good location. - Really lovely, clean, well appointed house in a really good location. It was clear that a lot of thought had gone into what guests require. The check in and check out procedure was really clear. The host was contactable if required. The welcome hamper was a lovely surprise. Really good, secure internet connection. Seconds away from a good fish and chip shop, which was a bonus and a short walk to shops, pubs, cafes, restaurants and the bridge over to the other side of Whitby. There was nothing we didn't like but it wasn't clear until we arrived that there is no private parking, the parking is on street and it can get very busy at certain times of day.
