Guest Reviews
- elizabeth (10/5): Convenient overnight stay between Adelaide and Melbourne - Clean, efficient friendly service, quiet, generous to provide breakfast , good value for stopover after late departure from Adelaide It had everything we needed
- Matthew (7/5): - Nice place to take a break. Staff were great Food average. And very tight room
- NW_Geelong (7/5): Older style hotel in the country - Accommodated our late arrival after a phone call and we still got dinner by ordering over the phone. A good place to break up the Melb - Adelaide road trip. Bed was comfortable. Sunday night pizza was lovely. Good parking out the back with plenty of room for a car with a trailer. Hole in the bathroom ceiling could do with a patch.
- Libby (1/5): -
- Man Bahadur Khatri (10/5): - The person who did call me back was very polite and nice to chat. She clearly give me instructions to guide enter in hotel and stay. I was coming from Melbourne to Kangaroo Island and I had to stay for rest and I felt like I am talking with someone who already knows me and I know her. Thank you for being nice. Everything I liked
- Arvydas (2/5): - Siaubas ne viešbutis. Atseit dvivietis kambarys, kuriame vos telpa lova. Nei vienos pakabos, tik du kabliukai ant durų, kur vienas nulūžęs. Kažkoks buvęs sandėliukas.
- Brad (10/5): - Nice stop over, clean, friendly and nice meals
- Michael (8/5): -
- case (6/5): -
- stefania (8/5): -
- Tony McMahon (7/5): - Friendly staff, laid back atmosphere, okay food and the salad bar is a nice bonus. Very basic room but okay for the price I suppose, bed not very comfortable but on a par with the rest of the roadhouses along the way.
- yvette (6/5): Good breakfast - Staff explained everything Very aged.
- elissa (6/5): - Nice pub, good food, friendly staff Room was very basic. No globe in light fitting. Bed was old and squeaky. Hole in bathroom roof. Couldn't get tv to work.
- Trevor (7/5): All l needed for a good nights sleep. - Breakfast supplied was a bonus, jams etc needed to be replaced. Just the breakfast supplies.
- Jeffrey (9/5): Great staff, great food, great beer would stay again - Loved the country pub feel The shower pressure but it’s only a tiny thing
- CORINNE (9/5): -
- Pia (1/5): Boendet var en stor besvikelse. Personalen, rummet...
- Damian (9/5): Always a good night at Coonalpyn - Location spot on for a trip to Adelaide Bed a bit uncomfortable
- Sarah (7/5): - Food at the hotel was very good and room was comfortable The taps on the sinks in the room was hard to use as they were too short for the sink
- William (10/5): -
- Gayan (6/5): Yes - No problem No good
- Liam (8/5): -
- Vishal (7/5): -
- Leslie (9/5): Great little country hotel with a good menu and nice helpful staff - Quiet and basic facilities and amenities plus a really helpful and friendly staff. Nothing really, everything was done with a minimum of fuss, and we fully enjoyed our stay.

- Ian (8/5): A good stopover between cities. - Our room, while not huge was quite ok, the air con worked well, the bed was comfortable and had a good shower. The pub meals were really good and reasonable in price.Free continental breakfast in the morning at any time.Friendly staff,I would stay here again.
- Don (6/5): very quiet considering on main road. - Dinner
- Thomas (6/5): -
- Phuong Anh (7/5): It’s quite a small room and not really enjoyable but it’s one of the few in the area soI could understand the price. - There’s free breakfast with basic food: milk, cereal, tea, coffee, bread. There’s a bar and game room if you want to get out of the room. There’s nothing inside the room except an old TV. One should read the facilities listing carefully before booking.
- Amanda (6/5): Convenient and comfortable - Convenient for one night stay while travelling. Other guests were noisy.
- Ian (7/5): - Very clean, great food at value prices. The only negatives were a saggy mattress and not enough staff to handle drinks, check ins and meal orders⁷
- Florentino (10/5): - Clean room and great foods :) I rate it out 10 is 10 . Can recommend to all travelers
- Graeme (6/5): Ok. For an overnight stop but nothing special - Dated. Needs upgrading. Bathroom In particular

- Asanga (6/5): -
- Singh (10/5): -
- Silvana (9/5): Great stopover with really friendly staff - It was a good old fashioned pub / stay place with the best staff and clean rooms.
- Ormsby (10/5): - Location ,meal was great Patch up hole in ceiling room5
- Laura (4/5): - Staff were friendly and helpful. Unexpected free breakfast provided. Simple DIY breakfast but much appreciated. The queen mattress in our room was uncomfortable because it was sinking in the middle.
- Garry (10/5): - Very pleasant hotel with excellent facilities including a yard where my motorcycle could be parked off street and secure. Nothing to dislike, will return again.
- Gaye (7/5): Comfortable enough . Also supplies light breakfast and good dinner pub style! - Quaint. helpful staff. Reasonable pub menu. Pleasant atmosphere. Out of date furniture Needs more updating.
- Pier (7/5): - Er is tenminste iets in Coonalpyn. Ernaast zit een limburgs wafelhuis. Het ontbijt was niet veel maar dat kun je ook niet verwachten voor die prrijs.
- Kelly (10/5): - Great for an overnight stay. Food was excellent. Breakfast included. Will stay again when travelling to Victoria from SA
- Somasundaram (7/5): -
- Paul (5/5): -
- Zhou (5/5): - The location is convenient to stay one night. The tap is positioned too close to the basin, making it hard to wash my hands.
There’s no microwave in the room.
- Georgia (9/5): An ideal stopover - everything you need in a clean and welcome atmosphere. - A great place for a stopover. Cheap and cheerful but everything you need and extremely clean. Secure parking and friendly people. Breakfast was simple but nice. It was a little bit loud due to thin walls and some noisy neighbours. Maybe bring earplugs if you’re sensitive to noise.
- Joanna (7/5): A very basic but clean, warm and quiet stay which was much needed to break up my trip home -
- Craig (10/5): - Large room, very comfortable bed.
Had everything we needed.
Meals were fantastic
- Melinda (4/5): - Good price and convenient place to stop on a trip to Adelaide Staff overrun and noisy pub patrons made sleep impossible until well past 11pm
- David (9/5): Great location, amazing value and always plenty of locals and travelers for a chin wag. Meals were amazing!!! - Great staff and very safe and secure with rear access to keep you car or caravan. Meals were fantastic and so much room in the bar and beer garden. A real hidden gem for value and rooms were small but very clean and safe. Nothing comes to mind for improvements
- Anne (7/5): -
- ROBERT (10/5): - Hospitality, good food
- Robert (8/5): -
- Phillip (8/5): - Nice quiet location good helpful staff A little mini fridge would be good as we had a few things with us requiring a fridge otherwise was all good
- Mark (8/5): The food from the kitchen was amazing - They have a breakfast bar with cereal and toast The toilet is hard to use with the sink placement
- Judy (6/5): - The dining was lovely and the meals were really good quality and not too expensive. The staff were fantastic and very helpful. I didn't realise that there were no coffee/tea facilities in the room. It was fine making it in the breakfast room but it was closed during dinner. Also the shower had no pressure and hard to regulate the temperature. Not a good experience.
- Danny (8/5): Value for money - The staff were so helpful and accommodating with me There was nothing dislike
- Karger (9/5): - The The staff 70th

- Skye (6/5): Pleasant -
- Graham (3/5): Poor -
- Mills (7/5): Good -
- Jacqui (7/5): If you need to stop over in Coonalpyn this is basic but a friendly hotel with beer and decent pub grub. Not the Ritz bu - Friendly staff, fine pub meals.
- Julie (7/5): Good - Local cheap somewhere safe to rest my head and a happy helpful owner. New door locks, great heating and tv connection. Old country hotel but it did the job, mattress was firm.
- Steen (8/5): Cood spot to break the Melb-Adelaide drive that won’t break the bank! - Value for money, minimal road and train noise, no pub noise. clean and tidy. good meals and drinks. n/a
- Katherine (8/5): Country pub with everything we needed. - Such value for money with continental breakfast included.
Yes it was 3 star but the beds were super comfy and it was warm. Shower was good too.
Plus a great pub meal and excellent staff. Nothing really.
- Phil (8/5): Very good -
- Sicely (5/5): Average - Bed No meals,only pizzas.
- Anne (8/5): Pictures are accurate. Place clean and a great stop when traveling - It was great to be able to be able to get an evening meal without going somewhere else. Also loved being able to grab breakfast at whatever time suited us Currently going through upgrades so a few little issues which staff remedies quickly and happily Always hate showers over a bath(I have mobility issues)
- Felicia (4/5): Disappointing -
- Steve (9/5): Great pub. Terrific atmosphere. Terrific staff. Wednesday night schnitzel was sensational - All of it! Great pub. Terrific atmosphere. Terrific staff. Wednesday night schnitzel was sensational. Room is basic but comfortable.
- Pamma (5/5): Passable - Rude staff lady
- Gurinder (4/5): Disappointing - cheap owner is incredibly rude.
- Robert (5/5): Just - We were able to order and have dinner, breakfast was ok we had to have our dinner in our room as the door to the room would not lock. which meant through out the stay one of us had to be in the room.
- David (5/5): Passable -
- Sally (6/5): Good value country pub - A country pub with lovely staff and good “pub grub “! The rooms are basic but clean with nice linen and comfortable beds . Help yourself breakfast was basic and some things had run out as all the tradies were up earlier than us, but good value for money Some road noise but not too bad . Totally fine for a night stopover .
- Daisy (7/5): Good -
- Anne (1/5): Nasty stay and rude - The location was what I choice but the room was not what I choice . All motel was thirty because the owner was on full renovation.
Why taking my money not delivery the standard room. No air-conditioning, no fridge for my food broken toilet etccc dust everywhere To received a good service and full race before heading to stawell Victoria.
I cooked myself and the kids in that room
- Maggie (7/5): Great place to stop after a long day's drive. - Sorry, don't eat breakfast.
- Uwe (8/5): Typical roadhouse - Room was functional and clean.
Ideal for a stopover from Melbourne to Adelaide.
Typical roadhouse with the right flair and good food.
Staff and guests very sociable.
- Rachelle (9/5): Superb -
- Janet (7/5): Well appointed for people travelling west from Melbourne - We needed a halfway stop an route to South Australia and we chose Coonalpyn because we had been there before. We really only needed somewhere to sleep. Breakfast was a bonus that we did not expect. The room was VERY small and there were not the usual tea/coffee fridge etc but we could go to the breakfast room when we chanted a cuppa.
- Eliza (10/5): Clean, comfortable, friendly staff. Made for a lovely weekend - Friendly helpful staff, clean comfortable room
- David (10/5): Exceptional - Great location, friendly staff and delicious food.
- Paul (8/5): Pretty much met our needs for a brief overnight stay to break up a longer than comfortable drive. - Breakfast was adequate, evening meal was typical pub food, well-presented and tasty. Linen and towels were excellent and the bathroom was very clean. Room size was a little smaller than anticipated therefore had no other 'seating' than the bed.
- John (10/5): Great food and drink. - The pub was a clean, honest and excellent place to stay, with great food and good drink prices. Will definitely stay here again next time we are travelling past.
- Isabel (10/5): So good - I spent a night with my friends at this hotel. I want to highlight the kindness of the hotel staff, who helped us with everything. The breakfast was very good. 100% recommended. Nothing
- Sarah (7/5): Basic but good value for the price. - Convenient . Had restaurant Walls thin so you could hear othe guests coming and leaving.
- Ann (8/5): Great value country pub with all you need for a stopover to Adelaide - A great country pub which was very good value. I enjoyed a lovely vegetable lasagne for tea with salad from a salad bar and a great stout recommended by the publican. A lovely shower with toiletries and a fabulous town pool 500m away.
- Jeanette (9/5): Great couple of nights - Central, clean comfortable. Very good meals and great hosts No mini fridge
- Mirjam (9/5): Superb - Great value for money, and excellent service.
- Tony (8/5): Love this place. - Love this place, it's not for everyone but its quirky charm appeals to me. Super friendly staff. The whole place could do with a refresh, but then the price would go up and then would probably spoil the atmosphere
