Guest Reviews
- Caroline (10/5): -
- Shelly67 (9/5): Lovely as ever - Love everything about Whitbarrow, stayed many times. Never made sense to have a dishwasher over an oven!
- Sophie (10/5): Convenient and luxurious in one! - Almost everything but especially we loved the comfortable apartment. It was amazing having self contained convenience as well as the luxury of staying in a hotel-like resort park. We really did have everything we needed. And the location was brill too. There's no oven, just a 2-hob electric stove and a microwave but we made do and we do understand that you can't fit everything into a small apartment. The sink was also tiny which caused quite a mess at times as water would splash elsewhere. Also the bath was too long so there's no way to relax in there for a proper soak as at 5feet 5 my feet didn't reach the other end of the bath which meant constantly fighting not to slip under the water!!
- Julie (8/5): Large apartment, with excellent facilities and parking - The suite was large enough for 2, bed and pillows
Comfy, well equipped kitchen The bathroom could do with floor tiles re-grouting
- Helen (7/5): Decent place, good value for money and easy to get to keswick etc - View from the room and balcony was lovely. We didn’t realise there was no oven (just a microwave and a small hob). So we had to bin the food we had brought for the first night.
- Tim (9/5): Lovely apartment and pool - The privacy of the apartment and the easy access from the drop off zone to the accommodation and the nearness of the pool. It was a shame the steam room wasn't working for our 4 days and one of the hand rails into the pool was wobbly. There needed to be clearer, larger safety signage in the pool: we saw a 10 year old dive into the shallow end and several children were going into the jacuzzi (12+) and sauna (16+). It would be good if the receptionist could point this out to families.

- Jenny (9/5): Lovely place in a lovely spot - This was our third stay in an Ullswater suite. After our second stay I mentioned in my review that the room was miserably cold when we arrived (I mean really cold) & took a long time to heat up. When I made this booking customer services contacted me & said they noted my comment & would put the heating on & they did & it was lovely. Big-up & thanks to customer services.
Love this place, there's just something about the whole layout, facilities, decor, storage, equipment in one spacious attractive, comfy room that makes for ideal short break, self-catering accommodation. How perfect do I want it to be? (It would be nice if there was a walk-in shower)
- Deniz (6/5): Pleasant - Spacious No shop or facilities close by.
- Alex (8/5): A lovely serene getaway. - Loved having access to amenities such as pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, mini golf
The balcony with table and chairs was wonderful. Colin was very helpful and had lots of information for us. The first receptionist who greeted us was a bit hostile and not forthcoming with welcome information, she also told us that the pool was booked out but when we checked it was avaliable for us.
One of our plates was dirty.
- Rachel (9/5): Superb -
- Jenny (7/5): Cold start - I like virtually everything about these suites - design, layout, equipment, the big quality bed with good quality bed linen, location, the quiet, the views & the wee bar upstairs BUT, & I would have given higher overall marks if it wasn't for one major thing (& minor one)... We've stayed here twice now & both times arrived to find the suites were miserably cold inside & despite turning both radiators full up (we don't keep them full up once we are comfortable, we don't like boiling rooms either), the rooms were still miserably cold when we went to bed 5 hours later. Is it too much to expect/ask that our warm welcome could literally be just that? Turn the heating on in the room a few hours before we arrive.
Also, the showers are a bit naff & climbing into a bath to shower is no oner one of my strong points.
- Keith (7/5): Good -
- Michael (10/5): Great place to stay - The property is an excellent base for us to relax in after a long day hiking it’s our second visit and will return. Far too hot on arriving but that is just personal taste
Issue with WiFi which owner tried his best to remotely help with we ended up having to hotspot from our phone to get internet tv working
- Brandon (7/5): Good -
- Becky (9/5): Superb -
- Kathryn (7/5): Overall we enjoyed our stay the suite was very nice. We travel far and wide and we have never had two fire evacuations i - It was very clean and spacious. No shower gel, or shampoo conditioner provided.
There were broken tiles in the bathroom.
We had two fire evacuations on the first night.
- Sally (9/5): Superb - Suite was lovely, everything you could need for a few nights away. Great restaurant and facilities on site highly recommend 👍 Very warm, couldn't alter heating, but patio doors opened to cool apartment
- Jackie (10/5): Exceptional - We had a lovely relaxing, comfortable holiday just what we needed, staff very helpful and willing to help with anything you needed. The only thing wrong was the weather but you can't have everything.
- Audrey (10/5): Perfect birthday weekend trip. Amazing stay, amenities and owner. Colin was very kind and went above and beyond to make - We love everything about the property but top three were: (1) room was spacious and everything in it was well thought of: (2) good location for walk/visiting other towns/ for anything; (3) you can have unlimited sauna/hot tub/pool/gym in the leisure centre within open hours. WE LOVED EVERYTHING.
- Lesley (8/5): Very good - We like the location for convenience to Keswick/penrith.
The Eden restaurant was very good on site. Poor water pressure in the shower. Badly cracked floor tile on the bathroom floor, sharp if you caught your foot on it.
Broken glass in the rubbish bin in the lounge area, and broken glass in the tv unit.
- Jason (1/5): Lovely location and facilities shame about the manager and staff I asked for help from. The room was covered in flies an - The views were tremendous The bar manager was horrid and patronising after I spent thousands of pounds he was so disrespectful even the bar staff were shocked and appalled at his behaviour. I made a complaint at the reception but they didn’t care or seem interested or want to listen. The bar/resteraunt girk was lovely she offered me free drinks to make amends but in all honesty honesty it just was to late the manager was bang out of order after letting me spend thousands and then to treat me like that resulted in me cancelling my food reservation and having a very very upset partner on the day of her birthday
Their accompanied with the rooms carcus and hole in the wall was disappointing considering this was a birthday gift of my partner of 15 years.
Very disappointed
- Susan (8/5): Very good location. Excellent site. - Well equipped self-catering suite. Good location. Quiet.
Good restaurant.
Iron/board, fan, (No Oven)
Effective fan. Extra towel pack.
Great bathroom with twin sinks. Plenty of parking.
Helpful staff. Crockery was dirty on arrival, had to wash before using. Broken bin (quickly replaced). Leaking overflow made undersink cupboard useless. Not enough storage space for a longer stay. Bedside tables tired. Inadequate lighting from several lamps.
- Charlotte (3/5): Quaint village with lovely views but overall hygiene standard was poor - The view outside the balcony was lovely and the balcony itself, had a good amount of pots and pans. The TV was very nice with Netflix and Disney plus available. The toilet was brown at the bottom upon arrival as if not cleaned at all. Also upon arrival we noticed broken tiles in the bathroom floor, plus a hole in the bedroom wall also sinks hadn’t been cleaned very well. Wheels in the dish washer were broken off so we couldn’t move it back and forth. Sheets had been ripped at corner but still put on. Separate to the room the restaurant took 20 minutes to ask us what we would like to drink and the tables were very sticky.
- Ivan (8/5): Very good -
- Wing (7/5): Everything is in our expectation - We can cook by ourselves The stove is too weak and you need to wait for a long time. The carpark is a bit far away
- Penny (8/5): Very good - Room was spotlessly clean and very well presented. Bed and sofa were SO comfortable. Hotel restaurant was excellent - food was delicious and free bottle of house wine went down very nicely! Shower was lovely with excellent water pressure - you can't beat a good mixer shower. Just little things - there was only small bar soap in bathroom, no liquid hand soap, and the room got very warm especially first thing in the morning, but opening the balcony door to let in fresh air soon sorted that!
- Lizzie (10/5): Perfect. Thoroughly recommend - Everything! Especially comfort! Nothing, all great
- Stirling (10/5): Terrific place to stay - First class accommodation, amenities , location and service.
Excellent host Nothing
- Laura (9/5): Couples get away - Beautiful apartment with amazing facilities and a beautiful view . Great location . Added bonus of being able to use the swimming pool .
- Amanda (9/5): Superb -
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Steve (8/5): Very good - Loved the pool jacuzzi steam room and sauna for those times when the weather was bad.
Nice view from balcony - lovely sun rise
- Carol (9/5): Generally great - Room was lovely and facilities were great, staff were lovely The only complaint I have wasn’t about the accommodation as such,
Unfortunately we had someone in the room above ours( suite 16), who thought it was ok to jump about continually for an hour from 7:30 am on both Saturday and Sunday, it sounded as though they were doing a dance routine or a fitness workout, we did highlight it with reception on Saturday, but to our dismay the woke us up again on Sunday, I understand that it was beyond your control, but it spoilt what was an otherwise lovely weekend,
- Liga (7/5): Good - The location was perfect and the staff were very helpful. The bed was uncomfortable.
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - Room clean. Warm, nice touch were two heavy throws so we could sit out on the balcony. Cracked floor tile in the bathroom. The wooden balcony needs repairing. Rust on safety handles by the jacuzzi.
- Alexandra (10/5): We went to Whitbarrow & it was wonderful! - The feeling of being in a mini-village but everyone was so quiet & generally lovely.
The apartment was amazing with lots of extras - like loads of dishwasher tablets & soap. It all felt quite luxurious too.
We enjoyed the pool & the jacuzzi, especially the facility to go later when it was children-free. Everything was fantastic!
- Lyndsey (8/5): We really enjoyed our stay here , wanted to stay longer - Very cosy home from home , beautiful views, comfy. Amenities on hand lovely spa and pool area. Shower door wouldn’t stay on the bath , shower wasn’t very good. Fridge wasn’t very cold
- Helen (10/5): Top quality stay - Fantastic accommodation in a lovely setting.
- Sophie (8/5): Very good -
- B (10/5): Perfect stay - All the staff were friendly. The room was left in a beautiful conditions
- Kathy (10/5): Fantastic - everything was perfect and we had an amazing time
- Penny (10/5): Exceptional - Spacious, well equipped room. Lovely to have use of the swimming pool after a day on the hills.
- Michael (10/5): Excellent stay - Second time Ive stayed at the village but a different room, suite 16 1st floor.
Flat was well decorated , very comfortable with self catering facilities
- Michael (9/5): overall we very much enjoyed our stay - The room was very well furnished the pool and jacuzzi very nice, the location is excellent. Having to park the car a distance to the premises, food menu not much choice and no snacks in the cafe.
- Maqbool (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dawn (10/5): Amazing - The whole place fantastic
- Lesley (10/5): Decent property - Clean and comfy. Nice view with balcony. Was nice and quiet in room. Added bonus of a pool and some adults only swim sessions. Host was helpful and attentive prior to visit. Lifts weren’t working at the time we were there (we were on the first floor and it meant lugging cases upstairs) and the steam room in the spa was also out of order which was a shame. This was beyond the scope of the individual host as the property is part of a large holiday village complex.
- Jill (9/5): Peaceful place - Peaceful
Very clean
Lovely staff
Views
Crazy golf We were asked to get out of the pool when the adults time had just started not sure why as we didn't have children with us also having to book a time slot. Expensive food and drinks
- Mark (9/5): Lovely self contained apartment with free leisure facilities and OK restaurant on site. Would return - Specification of apartment was good, a nice relaxed feel to the stay. Access to leisure facilities good, although steam room was not on. Ate once in restaurant, was quite pleasant, service quick, and food was quite nice. Was raining otherwise outside tables would have been appealing. Could hear people in appt upstairs walking around but noise pretty good other than that. Fire alarm did go off 1:30am meaning everyone had to evacuate. Luckily the rain had paused otherwise would have been a miserable 10 min wait for staff to respond.
- Bekn (8/5): We had a wonderful stay, thank you. - The location was great and the pool facilities. We ate at the restaurant one night which was very good. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, we'd definitely recommend it. Emails from Colin before our arrival were useful. We didn't need the constant text messages throughout our stay, they were annoying. An extra toilet roll would have been nice!
- Carol (10/5): A great base for a Lakeland holiday - The suite we had was lovely. It had everything we needed and we had plenty of space. The view from the balcony was beautiful. We would recommend staying here. Our host was very kind and showed us round the suite. Everything was fine. The resort surpassed our expectations. It's well set out and very quiet. There are good amenities for a family.
- Steve (10/5): Perfection - Very friendly helpful staff Recycling bin in kitchen
- Valerie (8/5): I have already filled in two of these questionairs - Didn't have breakfast No cushions in balcony furniture. Duvet was far to heavy
- Paula (10/5): Lovely return visit - Apartment was great. Host excellent. Location fab. Safe and secure. Bar restaurant is a lovely area which is underused - maybe due to small menu or prices….
- Lesley (8/5): Very good - Location is good. Site is nicely kept. Friendly staff on reception. Bigger bed. Tin opener in the kitchen. Restaurant/bar open each evening.
- Jane (9/5): good overall, needs better maintenance - good staff, spacious accommodation fridge was in need of replacement , two shelves broken. electric wall socket was loose . Induction hob supplied but very little to make it possible to cook eg pan , or fry pan or can opener . Microwave switch broken ( I was forewarned of this a day before arrival but I had already bought food on the assumption I could use microwave)
- Shane (10/5): Exceptional - The staff were friendly and helpful, and the room was even better than the pictures portrayed. The bed was comfy and the facilities were excellent!
We will definitely be returning! There was nothing to dislike
- Anonymous (10/5): Absolutely amazing for a romantic birthday weekend stay - it was super clean and very well set out in a beautiful location the tv was small for the size of the suite and wasn’t able to connect to surround sound
- Craig (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kayleigh (4/5): Would have been a good stay if cooking facilities were provided - The cooking facilities were not working which caused our customer to leave the property early. We have been trying to get hold of the host to ask for a partial refund
- Allyson (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sam (10/5): Absolutely fantastic stay would highly recommend! -
- Silenieks (8/5): Very good - Countryside views in a qusit village setting. The double bed was small, could easily have been a queen.
- Anonymous (10/5): Fantastic stay - lovely accommodation very . Clean, the homely touches were great. Had everything you could possibly need . It was my partners birthday and they really went the extra mile. Bought us a bottle , the restaurant staff put balloons on the table as a surprise and brought an individual lit cake out and sang happy birthday to him . staff were all lovely . liked everything
- Vicki (8/5): Very good -
- Leticia (8/5): Very good -
- Lee (9/5): Superb - The pool and spa facilities were great. Use of the gym an added bonus. Good having the balcony. Kitchenette came in really handy. Good sized room. Free parking. Friendly, helpful staff who made us feel welcome the whole time. Good base for exploring the Lakes. Our only complaint was the size of the bed. Not the most comfortable nights sleep for 2 people.
- Alison (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional - All staff were helpful even before we arrived.
The location was beautiful, stunning views.
Everywhere was clean and tidy. The swimming pool was a little on the cool side and there was a cold draught coming from somewhere
- Lyn (10/5): beautiful peaceful location with great facilities - beautiful property - well equipped and in a great location to explore the Lake District
- Adiemc13 (10/5): Exceptional -
- Trevor (8/5): Very good - Location, peaceful Bedding had a rip in, towels and bedding smelt like they had been dried in a kitchen while cooking. ( not fresh.) Main reason for coming was to use the leisure facilities following a stroke to relax. Difficult getting in and out of pool. ( I didn't check pool access on booking) pool was freezing cold. So was the air in the pool. Sauna snd steam room weren't very hot at all ( my husband used) and the hot tub was out of action. The poor girls in the bar were rushed off there feet leading to mistakes with drinks and food ( which they rectified. All I all it wasn't very relaxing. Reception staff weren't very bothered when pointing theses things out.
- Ursula (9/5): Superb -
- Smith (9/5): Superb -
- Naomi (9/5): Superb - Great stay,
booked this apartment for a trip away celebrating my birthday, host went the extra mile, lovely apartment, nice and clean just as described.
- Michael (8/5): Very good - Everything was brilliant lovely comfy bed and beautiful scenery except the hot tub everything was perfect One of the main reasons selecting this place was the hot tub/jacuzzi unfortunately it was broken when we arrived, this was a bit of a let down
- George (9/5): Lovely apartment in a peaceful area. - Well equipped apartment in a quiet holiday village. Lovely views from the patio doors over the fells. Warm and comfortable place to stay. Lots of parking on site and a restaurant and indoor pool. The bed was very small for the area of space. The mattress was soft and needed replaced.
- Justine (7/5): Looked forward to coming back, but probably won’t again - Lovely surroundings, staff very friendly and helpful Poorly up kept, restaurant and bar closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. We were informed about the Monday due to the queens funeral but didn’t know it was the norm until checking in. Quite disappointing
- John (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lynne (8/5): Peaceful location. -
- Jacqueline (8/5): Very good - No air conditioning or fan to use.
