Guest Reviews
- Nugent (10/5): A relaxing weekend that we’d love to experience again! - It is tranquil, cosy & has been renovated with lovely modern finishes. It’s also close to amenities & central on the meander.
- Bronwyn (9/5): -
- Mary (8/5): Comfortable cottage within earshot of the Lions River - Love the sound of the wind through the trees and the river from the deck. Great log burner. Comfy bed. Love the riverside walk and the birdlife. The kitchen is very basic and a small oven would be a welcome addition. The road there was very corrugated- a lot worse than last visit.
- Rianet (10/5): Everything about this place exudes peace and charm, a true gem! We'll definitely be back! - We had the most wonderful stay at Caversham Woods this past weekend in Cottage No. 4. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking, and walking along the river we were lucky enough to watch some rafters enjoying the rapids. The trails are beautifully maintained, and we thoroughly enjoyed our walks — our doggies were just as delighted with the surroundings as we were!
Feeding the horses was such a treat, and meeting the adorable Great Dane pup was a highlight.
- Indira (9/5): Absolutely Cozy - Absolutely cozy cottage, we were for the IPT Hockey at Michealhouse. The cottage was prefect location. Extremely warm during the winter nights.
- Uri (10/5): Absolutely amazing place that I would definitely recommend! - What a wonderful place. We loved the privacy of the little cottage. We liked that it was enclosed with a garden space so our son could roam around but not too far. The farm grounds are lovely, and we most especially LOVED how close the river was to walk down to. It has an amazing little boat house and grass space to picnic. Everything was amazing. The animals around, horses and sheep were nice to hear and see! Very much enjoyed our stay. The only thing that was an issue was the indoor fireplace, seemed a bit faulty so it created quite a bit of smoke inside. We didn’t end up using it much. But that really wasn’t a big issue.
- Jn (7/5): Good - Secure, scenic and peaceful
Sufficiently equipped kitchen.
Notified and updated on the water supply issue that was resolved promptly
Bedrooms were well dressed with good linen and inners. The 4th bedroom in cottage 1 was separated and isolated which was not in description and an unexpected inconvenience. The shower mixer in 4th room was loose and came off. Wall Heaters and fireplace are not as effective.
- Collin (6/5): Pleasant - Place nice River beautiful city
- Bianca (10/5): Serene and comfortable - Cosy and peaceful, set amongst beautiful scenery. Lovely fireplace to keep warm in winter in the lounge. Comfortable beds - the double rooms have fantastic views. Not a negative comment on the property itself but be aware that it is on a gravel road which was a bit rough in places at the time of our visit.
- Emma (9/5): Superb - Cute little cottage close to Hilton/Howick. Perfect for a weekend getaway with friends. Lovely comfy rooms and stunning views.
- Cindy (5/5): Disappointed - The view The facility wasn’t clean , it has black mold in some of the rooms , one towel to share between two guests and 1 roll of toilet paper for 4 ppl for a two day stay. We were given the incorrect unit number and there is no staff to welcome you.
- Joan (10/5): Excellent stay, serene and relaxing, its a definite yes for me. - The place felt like home away from home. The location and the view was perfect. We were in and out the place most of the time, so it was very convenient for us. The ladies that were cleaning the place were excellent and accommodated our needs. The host was also available to assist at all times.
- Liesl (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mandy (9/5): Superb -
- Geraldine (8/5): Very good - The cottage was fully fenced and private. Having our dogs was peace of mind with the fully fenced cottage. There was no oven in the cottage only a microwave. A proper oven is needed when the weather is bad.
- Graeme (8/5): Very good -
- Reece (8/5): Great - Great place The hot water in main bedroom en-suite shower wasn’t working
- Ankia (9/5): Superb -
- Mary (7/5): A Lovely & Comfy Cottage within earshot of the Lion's River. - Love the location, with the sound of the river, the swimming spot and the timber trail. A comfy bed, and a lovely fireplace/wood burner. Single-ply loo paper. A shower over the bath. The road was quite slippery after the rain, for a small car.
- Jade (8/5): Very good -
- Nomfundo (9/5): Superb - The privacy and the views were amazing.
- Simon (9/5): A wonderful stay-over for the night. - The fantastic views. No complimentary toiletries.
- Wilfried (7/5): Very pleasant Pet Friendly stay. - Location was great, very scenic and great views from your patio. We had a very pleasant stay. Also very secure and pet friendly. The river was close buy and quite accessible. It was a bit noisy from people arguing the one evening, and we had to shout to ask them to stop making a noise. Not sure if it was guests or support staff staying on the property.
- Theressa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lynette (8/5): Very good - Every thing was excellent except single matrasses in 2nd bedroom Single matrasses very uncomfortable
- Nkosi (9/5): Superb -
- Ronel (10/5): Love this place. We can’t wait to return. Peace, beauty, nature, love. Thank you. - The cottage is absolutely beautiful. Our family of 8 were so comfortable and all admired the bathrooms and the rooms with the most stunning views. We had booked 2 cottages. Our two grannies were over the moon that they got to stay in the best rooms and were spoiled the whole time. The sounds of nature and the river were so relaxing Nothing. We absolutely loved our stay
- Sarah (9/5): Idyllic cottage, beautiful river side running. - Stunning spot, loved being able to hear the river. Great runs, too.
- Mary (9/5): A midlands gem. Soul juice TopUp. - A lovely cottage tastefully decorated and very comfortable. Private with a fenced area for my dogs. Loved the wood burner on a drizzly evening while hearing the roar of the Lion’s River from the couch. A fabulous swimming spot with weavers swooping over building their nests. The shower was over a bath.
- Philisiwe (10/5): Awesome, great, safe and spectacular views - Great quiet location with beautiful scenery, the mountain views were amazing and also the sound of the river from the cottage was bonus...we took a morning walk to the river to pray, that was so fulfilling. would definitely recommend Caversham woods to friends and family
- Stuart (9/5): Superb -
- Regina (3/5): Poor -
- Maryne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nathan (10/5): Home away From Home - My Family & I Loved the peace and quiet, The location was amazing, the views were spectacular. The space was perfect for my Family. We were short of nothing, everything we needed was catered for.
- Samantha (7/5): We had a very enjoyable weekend at Caversham woods. - Beautiful view in places. Our friend’s Cottage 1 was really nice. However we were staying in Cottage 2B, which while clean and comfortable, couldn’t really compare. We didn’t have the greatest view from cottage 2B. Most shelves sloped and the bathroom wasn’t great. The sink hot tap scolded. Maybe consider a mixer.
We tried a few times to get near to feed the horses, but couldn’t find access.
- Charles (10/5): Exceptional - Everything about the place was great..peaceful..quiet...safe Nothing...there is absolutely nothing not to like
- Prenola (9/5): Superb -
- Charles (8/5): Accomodation is very basic but comfortable. We enjoyed our walk along the river. WIFI worked well. -
- Liesl (10/5): An incredible place! -
- Nick (9/5): Superb -
- Nick (10/5): Exceptional - Very neat property, super comfortable beds.
- Gwilym (9/5): Just what we were looking for. Happily stay there again if we're back in the Midlands. - The view, the ambience, the peace and quiet, the countryside. Well Appointed. Nothing really. The sieve on the Bodem pot was loose but I pushed it back on (hope that it stays !:)
- Marc (9/5): Superb -
- Lrn238 (9/5): Gem of a stay in The Midlands - Amazing location, comfortable and embedded in the Midlands, use toa driver with access to the area easily by road. Amazing forest to walk through and along the river. Beds could have been made a lot better, a bit of a shoddy effort.
- Louise (10/5): Comfortable and beautiful views - The scenery walks to the river, was our favorite. Just chilling at the cottage was great.
- Angela (10/5): Exceptional -
- Linda (8/5): Very good - I liked the view of the nature and how spacious and lovely the accommodation To be quite honest, there's nothingji didn't like about Caversham Woods
- Stephan (9/5): Superb -
- Ayanda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (9/5): It’s a beautiful spot and we really enjoyed being able to go off a long walk along the river. -
- Steven (7/5): Good -
- Janse (9/5): Superb -
- Lisa (9/5): Superb -
- Shelley (7/5): Reasonable value. Great location - I loved the huge bed and the linen. It was so comfortable. I was happy to find ground coffee and a coffee press. I feel that the finishes like the basin and bath and shower etc. Need to be upgraded. Also, they need to have proper bath mats that can be washed often on the bathroom floors instead of little rugs that felt a little dirty.
- Shaun (9/5): Superb -
- Mary (7/5): Good -
- Maxine (7/5): It was a memorable experience and would do it again - River and views Staff friendly ness , not enough toilet paper , shower leaking onto toilet and rest of bathroom.
- Anonymous (7/5): Good -
- Nadia (10/5): Wish we could stay longer! - Everything was clean and in working order. The view of the mountains and nature was exceptional. Will recommend this place to anyone. Cara, our host was so kind and understanding.

- Lingesperan (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Irene (9/5): Superb - Location, wood burning stove. Very comfortable and we'll fitted out. Helpful, friendly staff.
- Caryn (8/5): Very good -
- Kath (8/5): Very good -
- Natalya (7/5): Good - It’s a very cute cottage, run by lovely people and great staff. The property offers great walks to the river and is close to anything you could need, from bakeries and breweries, to Midmar and Spar. The linen, kitchen, etc seemed clean, but the overall hygiene of the building let it down slightly. For example, we had to wipe dirt off the light switches when we arrived, and the walls could use a clean.
- Antonie (10/5): Exceptional -

- Sanjeev (8/5): Very good -
