• Jose (1/5): Crooks. - The room was quiet... Avoid this place like the plague. I had the most extraordinary circumstance here. I lost the keys out, and they gave me the safe keys (which I never use) with the keys. Long story short, they waited until the last day, when I was checking out, to make a big hullabaloo about the keys. Although I paid the copy of the keys to them, they (falsely and knowingly) claimed that they could not get keys for the safe, and they had U$200 inside the safe (how ridiculous this claim is I can't explain: imagine a hotel leaving money in the safe of guest rooms!). So the only way I can make sense of this is that they waited until last minute, for me to be about to board my plane, and the made a big hullabaloo about it in they hope that I just paid the money to be aloud to board. They were asking me to buy a new safe for them and to give them the U$200 they supposedly had in the safe. Long story short: I managed to get a locksmith who did the job for 250,00 KIP (as opposed to the 8 million they were charging me) and there were no U$200 in the safe. They were blatantly lying and trying to rip me off shamelessly. I asked them to call police, and they didn't because they knew I was right and they were in the wrong. I was glad to have friends in Laos to assist, but these guys were so crooked! Otherwise I would have been in real trouble. I have never seen people lying so blatantly and being s unhelpful just to charge you extra. I heard from others guests they charge for whatever they can. They did not serve me breakfast on the final day, the errand boy at reception was yelling at me, and they made me spend my final morning in Luang Prabang looking for a locksmith when this is stuff they should have done themselves. Real crooks.

• Susan (6/5): We were sent to sn alternative hotel - After we checked in and had paid we were told our room had no water and so they took us to a sister hotel instead and gave us some money back. We did appreciate not being left in the lurch without a room but the room in our alternative venue wasn’t as nice as the room we booked originally

The shower is perfect temperature with good pressure. The host will help you book tours or anything you need. We would love to have stayed longer The walls are thin, but most guests knew about it and were very quiet!

• Brian (8/5): Pleasant Bed and Breakfast. - The staff were very kind. The daily breakfasts were a treat. The shower had hot water and good pressure. There was plenty of closet and shelf space. There were many outlets for charging devices. The wifi worked well. Many days between towel refreshes and refuse collection. Bed was a bit firm for my personal tastes.

Staff was great, kindly helped with bus tickets and kept a duffle bag for us for 5 days. Breakfast was good. We had a room downstairs which I would advise to avoid, it was extremely loud from rooms above and not very private as you could hear everything from the reception. We changed to an upstairs room, but could heat loud guest from room across the hall. In general, this place is in a very quiet area, but inside is very loud depending on occupancy. I am surprised of the rating. Very expensive for the value in my opinion.

• Sabine (10/5): charming old style house in quiet environment - everything! the location was marvelous, very quiet, and only about 10 minutes walking to the nightmarket. one of the most important temples just around the corner, where you can watch the alm giving ceremony of the monks every morning. along the mainroad many cafes, and high quality shops, where you can buy authentic tribal clothes and items. the house inside and first floor is all wood, very inviting. the bathroom is small, but the shower hot.

• Verbinnen (9/5): Superb - a great trip for me. Luangprabang is very beautiful and peaceful. The hotel is not too far from the center, very quiet. In the morning, 100 meters from home, we can see monks begging for alms. There are local eateries and Western restaurants around. In the afternoon I can walk around the Mekong River and drink coffee. Enthusiastic and friendly staff.
