- Cherie (10/5): Birthday experience - The whole experience and the staff were so lovely. Thank you x the balloons for so special!
- Anita (7/5): -
- Blaise (10/5): - The experience! Great location. We enjoyed the outdoor chairs & table, the morning coffee and the walk up the hill to the sculpture. The sunset / sunrise were beautiful. Would definitely recommend people arrive as early as possible to fully relax & enjoy their time. We chose to cook easy food for dinner & breakfast & everything worked out perfectly. The router for the wifi stopped working around 8pm & was still out in the morning. We had great hostesses for the ride in & the ride out.

- Jilliane Lenor (10/5): - A perfect place to relax and recharge.
The view is so amazing, spectacular sunset right in front of our dome. None

- Kitin (10/5): This place is breathtakingly beautiful. - I love this place. It is worth the money and the trip. The views are spectacular. The dome is very comfortable. The highlight for me was using the outdoor bath while watching the sunset is an experience not to miss. This place truly makes you feel one with nature.
- Cristina (4/5): - The place is amazing!!! Although we couldn’t see the sunset from our dome. The domes are a bit old and untidy, not very clean. It is a bit of an “adventure”. We had quite a lot of bugs in our dome during the night. So really depends what you like!
- Sydnii (10/5): -
- Gautam (9/5): Will definitely stay again! - I don’t want this to come across as negative feedback, especially considering the location and mission of this property. However, the composting toilets were a bit of a red flag for us due to concerns about odor and hygiene. Aside from that, it’s a wonderful property.
- Amber (10/5): -
- Craig (10/5): -
- Ly (10/5): Amazing - Everything about the stay was phenomenal. The 4x4 track was a great experience in itself, the views were stunning and the staff were so accommodating. I also love how the income from the domes helps fund biodiversity projects! There was nothing to dislike about being surrounded by nature
- Shyaineze (8/5): -
- Mohammed Saleem (10/5): Memories are made here , must visit place. - Amazing location and privacy to enjoy with your loved once. It gives panoramic view of Kapiti island.
- Courtney (9/5): Amazing, relaxing, peaceful - We really enjoyed our stay! The domes were tidy, the view from the dome was stunning! The host were very lovely & welcoming. The communial dome was also nice to relax in & stocked with everything we needed. The walk to the statue was nice and wasn’t too much of a hike. The outdoor bath was very enjoyable. A very peaceful & relaxing stay :) Nothing

- Kiandra (10/5): -
- Crosswinds (7/5): - The view, the dome, the staff, Needed a microwave, and toaster in the communal area even though we did have them in our domes
- Ruby (10/5): - The seclusion, privacy and views 😍 We only stayed one night, next time definitely staying two!
- Samantha (9/5): - Softer pillows ( if I’m being picky).
- Teaumatarii (10/5): - Location was a wow amazing. We arrived on good weather in time for use the outdoor bath. Next day was freezing cold but we still enjoyed our time. The toilet was getting use to overall we would go again
- Charlanda (8/5): -
- Makayla (10/5): Just what the dr ordered. - It's exactly what you would expect and then some! Amazing staff, top line facilities for dome life and views for days. We stayed 5 nights and could have happily stayed for a month. Not something that could be done better but just a suggestion - having a 4 wheeler motorbike for travel outside 9-5 would be handy and also add to the overall experience
- Ayesha (10/5): -
- Jacob (8/5): Beautiful - Beautiful views definitely worth going in the autumn and spring as it may be too cold for winter or too hot for.summer 🔥 The power use for the aircon would be good if it lasted longer.. can use a generator also if need be! So that's nice. Definitely worth going out there without a TV to soak up the night sky
- CiCi (8/5): -
- Rosemary (8/5): Amazing aside from security - Views, location, the staff were great and the bed was comfortable Our front door didn’t lock which made us feel unsafe already being so isolated
- David (10/5): -
- Sylvia (10/5): -
- JUN (10/5): It's an unique and memorible stay. Will definitely come back for BBQ next time. - The location is great. The view is stunning with quite surroundings. My family enjoyed it a lot. We are plenty of time to take amazing photos. Nothing.
- Leyah-rose (10/5): Best get away ever! Would definitely recommend to other people - Very clean, comfortable, beautiful view The only thing I didn’t like is we didn’t stay long enough!
- Dean (8/5): Such a great night stay at the escarpment domes. A unique experience that is like nothing else I’ve experienced. - Magnificent views and friendly team
- K. A. K. (4/5): Promising Concept, Poor Execution - • Bed was comfortable
• View was incredible
• Amazing they drive you up to the Dome with your luggage, thank you! Unfortunately, our stay did not meet expectations due to several issues with the Dome accommodation.
• There was a persistent and unpleasant odor resembling toilet gases inside the Dome. Despite heavy rain and strong winds, we were forced to keep both the window and door open continuously in an attempt to ventilate the space. Even at night.
• Due to the strong winds, the bath experience was also uncomfortable, as water repeatedly splashed onto our faces. Additionally, the water temperature dropped very quickly, requiring us to refill hot water far more often than should be necessary.
• Although we were informed that the Dome was relatively new, its condition suggested otherwise. There were visible stains on the interior of the tent, stains on the chairs, and all provided towels were marked with orange stains, which was unacceptable.
• Furthermore, rainwater entered the Dome through the air vents and also leaked from the air circulation opening located in front of the bed.

- CETIN (7/5): - Dome commun super, accueil et transports vraiment top, magnifique vue depuis le dôme, magnifique nature alentour Première nuit top, deuxième nuit horrible à cause du vent.
- Bjørn-Lukas (10/5): -
- Norman (10/5): - Ciean, comfortable location was great None
- Anoop (9/5): The dome stay experience was definitely worth. The scenery and atmosphere transports us to a different world - Scenery, view and the dome It was quite windy at night and might disturb sleep if on such days
- Jonathan (9/5): Fantastic - Great location views and surface. Nil
- Linda (10/5): -
- Daniela (9/5): -
- Matthew (9/5): Incredible, 100% intend to return. Even including the issues mentioned, had an amazing time! - The location and service were stand out. The staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgable. The location, including accomodation and facilities were great. The domes themselves are suprsingly full featured, and the composting toilet is actually fine to use (which is the best I can say as a city dweller). The domes have great wifi (more than good enough for wind-down reality TV on the laptop) and each dome has an AMAZING stereo system (Bluetooth is easy to use, speakers are great quality, and pleanty loud). Beds are comfortable enough, and we were warm enough (we went in summer).
There is also a large communal cooking/relaxing area available quite close to all the domes. All this said, I'd reccomend cooking some hearty meals (we had curry one night, and stew the next) and bringing them in well sealed tubs to heat up. You don't want to waste your time here cooking!
Theres a nice walk to a couple of art installations (ask the staff!)
And finally, the view. If everything sucked, I think watching the sun set over the ocean from here would be worth it anyway. The shower looked like its going to fill up and overflow. It never did, but it worried us a bit.
No curtains in front of the clear end of the dome; we are night owels, and the sun woke us up much earlier than we wanted to. I'd say just go to bed earlier, but thats not possible for everyone.
- David (10/5): The perfect weekend away! Hard to beat! - Sensational weekend away on the Escarpment! Everything was perfect & we are looking at dates to book again & bring friends along with us! The domes had everything you need & then some!
- Maggie (10/5): Amazing, peaceful, beautiful - So beautiful. Loved the eco friendliness and ethical focus. Also the staff were so warm and welcoming and went out their way for us
- Mary (10/5): Micky is superb. - Ideal for stargazing.
- Grantmartin (10/5): Beautiful peaceful gem. - Excellent host. Made sure we were well taken care of. Outdoor bath was great. Bed was super comfy Maybe a chair or hanger to hang towel/ clothes etc when using outdoor bath. A dishrack would be great for drying off dishes in gallery dome. Otherwise perfect.
- Jan (4/5): This was supposed to be a birthday treat, sadly it wasn’t the best experience for us due to weather - The potential of this being an amazing location. Gail Force winds meant the noise in the dome was close to unbearable. We truly believe that we should’ve been given some notification that this wasn’t an ideal location and weather like this. The second night was a little better however still not ideal given we couldn’t make the most of the facilities available. There was something loose that was metal that made A constant banging noise. Unfortunately there were chipped cutlery and unclean cups and it looked like the floor just needed a really good clean. We understand the sun damage in places like this but it did seem quite tired.
- Jeung Jun (9/5): -
- Mu Ya Klay (6/5): Wonderful - Everything The toilets were a bit hard to use but other then that everything else was good
- Suzanne (10/5): -
- Sara (10/5): A magical place to stay and the view was out the gate! - The bed was quite firm(hard), and probably needed a few bolts tightened as every time you rolled over is made a loud noise
- Jibin (7/5): -
- Nic (5/5): The concept great but the lack off essential basic warmth was a no from us - Amazing view The lack of electricity where we ran out thru the night so it was freezing and we then couldn’t make a cup of tea let alone cook breakfast
- Matthews (10/5): -
- Sonkhla007 (6/5): Pleasant - Location and the staff who picked us up, it was really great to be there. No door lock, electricity finished around 6 am and till 8.30 we lived there for without electricity. We followed the same 21°C even though it's cold to make solar electricity work till morning.
- Jenna (10/5): Exceptional -
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Ron (9/5): Awesome experience love to come back - Location and private
- Sascha (9/5): Beautiful views, lovely place to get away and just switch off for a night - Amazing location, cool goal and lovely hosts Nothing!
- Ronel (5/5): Passable -
- Nguyen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tiare (9/5): Superb -
- Cheree (10/5): LOVED EVERYTHING 😍 - What didn’t a like is the Question.. 😉 10/10 highly recommended it to so many of my friends. Loved the ocean view, sun set, woke up to a gloomy morning but it was still so beautiful. Everything amazed me you couldn’t hear a PEEP in the domes was just too good staying here
- Lois (9/5): tino rawe/very awesome - Other than having no cloth for the dishes everything was wonderful Poor lighting when doing a puzzle at the dining table
- Karina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sendaria (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laure (10/5): Wonderful experience. Highly recommended -
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (9/5): Short but good - Everything provided for a good escape, we were only over night, so didn’t use much except the bath in the poaring rain. All
Power ran out at about 5 am, we might have had air con on too long, came on at 8:30 in time for coffee
- Amber (10/5): Highly recommend for a blissful getaway! - Great staff, amazing views, such an awesome concept and great execution!
- Peaden (10/5): Would love to stay again and for a couple of days. - Loved the eco focus. The view was spectacular. Well thought out. We got lost trying to find the drop off site. Realized necessary to put the address In google maps, not the name. (May have been stated somewhere but we didn’t realize it until we were taking a costal road and looking up the mountains where there was no road). Most likely our bad.
- Olivia (10/5): Exceptional - The view is like nothing we’ve ever experienced. The extra touches such as the bluetooth speakers and games and books were lovely. The concept is incredible and the people who run it are lovely. Would highly recommend to everyone! Nothing. We had the best time!
- Sonja (10/5): Exceptional - An amazing setting, close to town, but secluded, hidden and tranquil.
- Zhannna (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location with breathtaking views of the ocean and the coast, can even see the South Island from here. There is a lookout just a few minutes walk from the domes with a bench to enjoy the views.
The dome itself has everything necessary, including a small kitchenette, an outdoor bathtub and an indoor shower. Really feels cozy and isolated from the noise of every life. Would definitely stay here again, especially in summer.
- Peter (10/5): Exceptional -
- Roberta (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location with incredible views. Really comfortable bed and the outdoor bath on the deck was amazing. Nice touches like the cold brew coffee and fresh milk were great! Just need to make sure you take everything you need to the dome if you have parked in the carpark, its a 20 minute walk back down to the car (and 30 mins back up!). But the view makes up for the walk.
- Eden (7/5): Good -
- Andy (8/5): An experience we have already shared with family and friends! - Fabulous location great view; peaceful and relaxing. At our ages (77 and 80) one could feel a little isolated and apprehensive but we felt okay.
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mackenzie (10/5): Best getaway ever! - Location was amazing! Beautiful spot to watch the sunset. Would go again 100 percent! Loved this place!
- Ellie (10/5): Exceptional -
- George (10/5): Exceptional - Really helpful staff. Great location for watching sunsets and stars. Eco friendly place to stay.
Highly recommended.
- Eleni (10/5): Beautiful location, great getaway on your doorstep from Wellington CBD - The remoteness and the view the general experience. Note you leave your car in a carpark and if you don’t want to wait for pick up and drop off times for other guests with luggage, you can walk out (15 mins) walk back up (25mins). Take food if you want just remain up there.
- Mylene (9/5): Celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary - A remarkable spot to escape. We love everything!
- Julia (9/5): Superb -
- Casey (9/5): Superb - We had an amazing time staying here and would definitely be returning! Ella went out of her way to help us out with a flat car battery at the end of our stay.
- Rebecca (10/5): Absolute heaven. - Everything!!! Beautiful location. Amazing view. Gorgeous accommodation. Off-grid. Lovely details. Sound system. Coffee. Outdoor bath. Bliss! And wonderful people!
- Oonagh (10/5): Exceptional - Great views, friendly host, very peaceful
- Jill (8/5): Perfect for a night or two of being truly in nature and away from the world. - The view is spectacular. Unfortunately the weather was too wet, windy and cold to use the outdoor bath But it added to the atmosphere.
The isolation is also good to have. The domes are far enough away from each other for privacy.
The new communal dome is a bonus.
The social enterprise behind the development is inspiring. You can read all about it on the escarpment domes website.
This is a unique experience that we'd recommend as a relaxing break. It was cold and we worried about keeping the heatpump on too long. It advises just 2.5 hrs or 4 on eco mode. We needed it from around 5pm and wanted to make sure there was still power for morning. But that is being out in true nature. It's just part of the adventure.
We wish there had been longer treks to do if the weather was good. And maybe there are. I'd ask about that.
The mattress is a bit hard. Although I slept well.
The heavy doors are hard to open.
The Internet cut out as we were watching a movie at bedtime.
- Pauline (10/5): Amazing experience I am definitely coming back - Loved the view & the “off the grid” feel - felt you were. Away from everything but close to Porirua. N/A
- Vishal (10/5): Unique experience -
- Lillian (10/5): Exceptional - The views!
- Grantmartin (10/5): Wonderful secluded place to relax and unwind. Great views, amazing hosts clean and tidy - Location was great. Beautiful kitchen well stocked with everything you need. Great coffee amazing Bluetooth sounds. Great shower pressure, hot water wifi. The bed was too firm for me. Partner said it was ok for him. Personal choice.
