Guest Reviews
- Igor (2/5): Terrible experience: Rat, hunger and scams - The beach in front of the homestay I cannot recommend this homestay under any circumstances. We felt scammed and mistreated:
1. Booking scam: We paid for 3 cabins but were only given 2. They refused to refund the difference or lower the price.
2. Unsanitary: Rainwater leaks inside. We had to sleep on a completely WET mattress (not just damp). At night, rats enter the room, so you have to watch your belongings.
3. Pathetic food: We were actually starving. Portions were tiny and breakfast was ridiculous (two slices of bread barely stained with chocolate and coffee).
4. Abusive prices: They charged us nearly double for a 15-minute boat ride to Gam compared to what we later paid to go to Waisai (which is a trip 3 times longer).
The owner is dishonest and the facilities are a disaster.
- cato van de Meeberg (1/5): Never never again, intimidating owner - The wife and childeren are nice. The food is enough in amounts and tasty. The house reef is beautiful especially around jetty with blue house. I never put out bad reviews but the owner of this place has some serious anger issues and is not meant to be homestay owner. This is the reason I give this place a score of 1. First I will go into more detail about the facilities that were not the best but not the reason for me to give this score
Facilities:
- Looked not to bad at beginning but in all rooms there are rats. You need to put all you belonings up during the night if you dont want them to destroy your bags. Even if there is no food in there. They also make a lot of noise so was sleeping with earplugs each night.
- you get a broom with the room so that you can get rid of all the Rat poop in the morning yourself. Also on the mosquito nets there is a lot of poop that would otherwise had fallen into the bed.
- Moldy pillows
- breakfast and lunch box was bever ready in time which was annoying as they knew what time my pick up for diving was. I had to eat my breakfast in one minute everyday not best start.
- shower stops /water during the afternoon as the generator is not working
Now my biggest problem with this place is the owner. This man is only after money, he has zero interest in showing you the beautiful place he lives in or to make it the best time for you. Opposite from my other homestays in Raja Ampat. He is in a bad mood all the time. If you don't do a tour with him, he just gets very angry with you even trying to intimidate you. The place was empty most days that I was there, he can therefore be happy that there was someone staying in his place even if I was diving with Soul Scuba. I wanted to do a tour with him on Sunday but he had the sabbat. That is fine bit all other days I was diving so were no option for me. It is no where stated that you must do a tour.
The first 4 days of my stay the facilities were my biggest problem and as the end of my stay came in sight the bad mood of the owner became directed to me. Other guests told me they had experienced this too when I just arrived.
- Jackson (3/5): Come for the diving, snorkeling but stay somewhere else. - Location was great, the reef in front was very beautiful. The room was crude and unfinished. There were almost no hooks for hanging towels, wet swimming suits, snorkeling or diving gear, etc. There were no chairs in the room or on the porch. No clothes line for drying things. The food was barely adequate, things like smoked and dried Tuna, cold rice and a vegetable which was the best thing on the table. No serving implements, face tissues for napkins. Hosts were polite to us but virtually no English, and had a screaming and apparently somewhat violent fight that lasted for at least an hour in the middle of the night.
- Julio (7/5): Snorkel paradise - The reef in front an around is crazy lots of corals and fishes. Good food and nice bungalow ☺️
- Jeroen (2/5): - Location is decent next to Dive centre No one present when I arrived. No one answered whatsapp phone. Neighbouring homestay invited me to wait there. Eventually I got a reply saying they 'have sadness' and were in the village and that I can cancel the booking. So I stayed at the neighboring homestay, who contacted bin meos and said they would refund. Neither bin meos nor booking.com refunded. Very disappointing. The o lying reason for 2 star instead of 1 is that I booked on short notice (2 hours) and there appeared to be some grievance (a death?). A refund should still be offered. The homestay also looked fairly unclean
- Anca (10/5): Loved my stay - will be back! - Binmeos (the owner) was very responsive from the start (very rare in this region as i later realised!) to help arrange transfers, trips and throughout the trip with suggestions and recommendations. His English is actually really good as well which was super helpful.
The location is great, beach is right in front with a gorgeous house reef and a jetty 3 mins walk away for an easier entry in low tide.
The room was large and comfortable, clean, and having a private bathroom was quite the treat (and very rare ok Kri).
Last but not least I must say at Binmeos I had THE BEST food I had in all of my trip to Raja Ampat (stayed at 6 homestays). Binmeos' wife is an incredible chef, and there was always plenty of food! Thank you so much!! Nothing
- Gonçalo (10/5): Best Homestay Kri - Great place to stay!!
We spent 5 nights in Bin meos and was amazing!!
BEST HOUSE REEF ever, snorkeling will make your days here!! They only have 2 bungalows so that makes the stay even more pleasant! The family was super friendly, you truly feel like you're in a homestay, and they welcome you always with a smile, although just the men (I don't remember his name) speaks English. But communication was never a problem!
Food was enough and they were always thoughtful about us not eating meat.
Central and walkable to viewpoint and both sides of the island, and next to a great dive centre (yenkoranu)!
- Lola (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing family, place, food, and services ! I should stay longer !!!
- Rosie (8/5): Very good - Really lovely peaceful location, really lovely family, lovely food, 5 minute walk to a dive facility, basic facilities but you stay on the beach next to a beautiful coral reef
- Roman (10/5): Great homestay in Raja Ampat - We very much enjoyed our stay at Binmeos Homestay which is located right at the beach on the Northern shore of Kri Island. The coral reef in front of the homestay is beautiful and rich in marine life. The bungalows are basic but clean and come with their own bathroom. The host Erentz and his family are very kind and helpful; the food prepared by them was great. We hope we'd be able to come back soon in the future.
- Vineet (10/5): Perfect escape on Kri Island - Before coming to Raja Ampat, I had read that homestays often have basic facilities, particularly concerning room and bathroom conditions. However, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at Binmeos. The room was clean, tiled, and thoughtfully designed with netting over the large open sections to minimize rodent and insect intrusion. During my 7-day stay, I didn't encounter any rats, which was a relief. The bathroom had a shower head, was clean, and freshly painted. Overall, I had a comfortable stay in my beach hut and am grateful to Erentz, the owner.
The food at Binmeos was also excellent, and they accommodated my dietary needs. There was always more food than I could eat, with a steady supply of coffee, tea, and water. Erentz's wife, April, was very kind and always willing to help with anything I needed, whether it was food, drinks, or laundry.
The homestay is conveniently located between two dive centers, both less than a 5-minute walk away, and they were happy to accommodate my diving activities. The reef just steps from my door was incredible, with diverse coral and colorful fish.
Binmeos also organized trips to Wayag, Piaynemo, and various fishing excursions, making my stay even more enjoyable. I only wish I could have stayed longer!
Overall, Kri is a beautiful island, and Binmeos offers a cozy and tranquil homestay experience. With only a few beach huts, it provides a sense of privacy and peace, perfect for a relaxing getaway.
- Hermes (10/5): Beautiful location, great attention from owner - Food was awesome, they preppared special meal for me because I am vegetarian.
The owner family had great attentions with me!
The location is awesome! beach is really quiet and Nice! it is a Paradise! They are next to one of The Best snorkeling spots! With amazing Corals and hundreds of different colorful fishes.
