Guest Reviews
- Julie (8/5): Nice place to stay - would stay again. - Great place. Near Carlton Towers where event was. Staff pleasant and helpful. Lovely breakfast. Nice & Clean. Everything was fine for us.
- Morgana (10/5): -
- Lindsay (7/5): A lovely place to stay for a night. - The location to the wedding venue was perfect, the food we had was exceptional, staff were lovely ☺️ The room was very hot, and there were no glasses only cups for drinks, felt sorry for the staff member on Monday as he was on his own, serving, cooking, checking people out, not ideal.
- Carolann (10/5): -
- Richard (10/5): - The breakfast was perfect for me ,
Well presented more than enough .
Extra coffee at no extra cost which was nice a very often you get charged !! The price for a breakfast inclusive stay was i thought quite cheap, the rooms being separate to the main building gave a quiet nite sleep ample parking. Very friendly staff .
The eve meal was for me very very good , overall highly recommended
- Brenda (8/5): -
- Andrew (6/5): It was okay, but far better then the cold damp and mouldy room I left at Premier Inn - Comfortable room, which was very hot. Great shower and bathroom was a nice size. Only 2 plug sockets next to bed, so no plug sockets by kettle or the desk area making work impossible.
Heated towel rail gives off a lot of heat - and found switch was next to bed as part of a 2-gang light switch
- paul (8/5): -
- Michael (10/5): Very good value - Clean and friendly Nothing
- simon (9/5): - Pub and rooms stunning Nothing
- Jane (10/5): Perfect stay especially if a guest to a wedding at Carlton towers - Our room was absolutely spotless
It was large and the mattress was comfortable
Lots of tea/coffee and biscuits
Nice having a patio outside too
Also a large car park attached
Breakfast and the roast dinner was delicious and definitely recommend Nothing
- Dave (6/5): Unfortunately the fire alarm started at around 11.30 pm and no member of staff was there to be seen. - Excellent cook. Breakfast was hot and very tasty Bar closed at 9.00pm on the Friday, would have liked the pub to be open longer.
- Jonathan (10/5): Excellent staff, excellent stay - The staff were excellent. The beds were superb, and it was very clean and modern. When we stayed, it was very very hot, a fan or Aircon would’ve helped, but I guess it’s never normally this warm
- Daniel (9/5): - Breakfast (full english) was cooked to perfection.
Nice pleasent pub.
Nice clean room, comfy bed and good shower.
- Trevor (6/5): -
- Debbie (5/5): -
- Janet (8/5): It was a very short stay but enjoyable - Nice clean, comfortable room.
Wayne was very friendly and helpful, he’d been let down by staff and was doing everything himself, he was a star No hooks in the bathroom for towels/robes etc
- Crook (5/5): Don't eat there, use the hotel/pub as a hub - Location, cleanliness Hot room, smelly bathroom, and a constant wet floor. One person, serving drinks, making the food and booking in guests, yes one person did it all, at the same time. Some members of our party had to wait 2 1/2hrs for pizzas! All our food was slow to produce. It was tasty and hot when it eventually arrived, but it wasn't good enough. We had called to pre-warn them that their was going to be a few of us eating that night, 15 plus. It was the same for breakfast too. The man did an exception job though, but i certainly wouldn't return for food including breakfast. On the website it says breakfast included. We were informed after we had ate it, that it wasn't, not before we ordered it.
- Christopher (10/5): Exceptional - great food, great bar. Nothing not to like
- Ewan (7/5): Good - Good old country pub, nice and clean Shower took a while to get hot,
- Steve (1/5): Stressful Experince night before wedding - Never had to opportunity to rate this due to all bookings being cancelled. Myself and family booked multiple rooms at this venue to stay the night before and the night of my wedding, expecting a smooth and memorable experience for such an important occasion. Unfortunately, it turned into a major source of stress during an already busy time.
The venue cancelled our entire booking at the last minute with no effort to help us find alternative accommodation. We were left scrambling to find somewhere else for our guests to stay just the day before the wedding.
To make matters worse, I had to contact Booking.com myself to initiate a refund, as the venue made no effort to assist with the process. It took a couple of weeks and follow-ups before we finally received our money back.
- Jonathan (4/5): Costly if you can't claim back the VAT. - No breakfast or food availale Staff could not provide a VAT receipt......a legal requirement!
- Julia (8/5): Very good - The location was perfect for the wedding we were attending in Camblesforth.
Oddfellows bar is very quiet
Breakfast was good and a nice big teapot 🫖.
Sausage didn't have much taste, but ok. The staircase leading to the upper room needs a deepclean lot of cobwebs on the treads.
We did stay on one of the hottest weekends, so the rooms were very hot.
- Helen (8/5): Nice rooms. Good facilities. Great breakfast! - Nice rooms with good facilities. Perfect for our family group. Breakfast was excellent quality! When we checked in we were told breakfast was served until 9am which was a bit too early for us on a Sunday morning, and only 3 out of 8 of us made it in time. We later found out it was until 9.30am which was a little frustrating as more of the group would have been up in time if we had known!!
- Salval (7/5): Nice place for overnight stay, continental breakfast very very disappointing indeed. - Excellent modern room with all facilities. Pleasant staff and plenty of parking. Continental breakfast very disappointing indeed, must improve. Just toast is not good enough for the price charged, sorry.
- Stephen (8/5): Very good -
- James (8/5): Very good -
- Paula (7/5): Good -
- Clint (1/5): Bad -
- Brendan (8/5): Very good - Clean and comfortable room needs some usb power sockets.
We stayed 2 nights quite and clean very good staff Needs USB sockets for charging and the shower mixer in room 9 could do with replaceing.
- Stephen (4/5): Disappointing - Room was not very clean tea stain rings on the dressing table
Room decor needs updating shabby repairs made to walls
Ceiling had water stains from upstairs leak they had painted over but not very well as it was still visible
Rooms not very private as your door is in the main rear beer garden / courtyard and the only window opened on to this no curtains to the window only a roller blind so not much privacy
Fortunately the courtyard wasn't busy
Very poor lighting in the on suite
- Edgar (8/5): Excellent stay for wedding at Carlton Towers - Excellent location. Room on ground floor overlooking a courtyard. The bed was extremely comfortable. Lovely friendly staff. Excellent shower. Had a great evening meal. Plenty of car parking. Only a cooked breakfast. No cereal.
- Christopher (8/5): Very good - Pub closed , no food
- Gary (3/5): Nice place to go would have like to try the food but it was shut ? - The room was ok I pick the odd fellows pub because I was attending a Wedding across the road so I thought I could eat at the pub and not travel anywhere to eat ,but when I arrived the place was shut and had to wait for someone to let me in , I ask why it was shut and they said they had gone away the bar and food wasn’t being served? When they cleaned my room they didn’t fill up my coffee and sugar jar , was very disappointed as it looked a very nice place that’s why i chose to go there as it was convenient for me I think I should get a refund?
- Stephen (9/5): Nice accommodation and good reastuarant - Accommodation was good, the staff very welcoming and pleasant Nothing really
- Maxine (6/5): Good value for money - Beautiful rooms, comfortable bed, great shower. Hairdryer, tv, tea and coffee facilities.
Very good cooked breakfast We thought the guy we dealt with was quite rude and not very attentive
- Catherine (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was excellent. I had a message waiting for me from work colleagues. Very friendly and efficient
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Tom (10/5): Exceptional -
- Danielle (4/5): Locked out at 9.30pm and not allowed breakfast that was paid for- beda pretty comfy though. - Room extremely comfortable! Great location for a wedding across the road. Well when we were allowed in, we got locked out and had to climb the fense to get back into the property, luckily my sister is pretty nimble.
The accommodation is located at the rear of the property, nice rooms, but a shame the pub shuts so early. To gain access to these rooms after the pub has closed there is an external gate which leads you to your rooms, no problem, happy to use this enterance. When we returned at around 9.30pm on a Friday night we were shocked to see the pub had closed, even more shocked to see the only gate allowing us back to our accommodation was bolt locked at the bottom of the gate on the other side from where we were standing.
After numerous phone calls and no answer we decised clibming the fense was the only way. Very dangerous, but it was this or sleep on the streets- Thanks Oddfellows!
Finally a nice restful night, is an adequately clean room (shower screen hadnt been cleaned since previous people peft and there was hair in the drain) but everything else was nice and the bed comfy. But breakfast ruined this...
Awful and rude staff. We have a vegetarian and 2 vegans, and told the kitchen couldnt cater for them, even though breakfast was paid for through the booking and they were pre informed of dietary requirements. Breakfast staff even told one of our party that they were in the way when seated at the table as he couldnt reach to place a plate down. Wish I had the CCTV footage to show how not in the way she was sitting. Those who were eventually allowed breakfast enjoyed and good quality products were used.
- Bob (10/5): Exceptional - Very welcoming and friendly fantastic breakfast and food Nothing everything was great
- Laura (10/5): Perfect overnight stay! - I had the perfect overnight stay for a work trip. Super comfy bed and clean room, modern bathroom, smart TV, good wi-fi, delicious breakfast, friendly staff - will definitely stay again next time I'm in the area.
- Allen (8/5): Very good -
- Ian (9/5): Superb -
- Paul (10/5): Great value for money - Quiet, well equipped comfortable room.
Very friendly staff.
Great full English breakfast!
- Alex (10/5): Stay for a wedding - The room was clean and comfortable. The bathroom was large with a big shower and a heated towel rail. TV and tea making kit was all there with more than the standard choice of teas and coffee. The location for attending a friend's wedding couldn't have been better, right opposite the entrance to the venue. My only issue with the room, as I had to set my laptop up, was the lack of a plug socket near the desk.
- Gina (3/5): family trip - the bar areas and rooms were lovely price of room expensive we thought bft was included
- Chris (6/5): Pleasant -
- Buckley (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kathryn (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Nothing
- Sally (9/5): Superb -
- Maricel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dave (8/5): Very good -
- Martin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anna (10/5): Exceptional - Clean rooms. Fantastic host. Great breakfast. Thank you
- John (9/5): Pleasing overnight stay with breakfast included. - Excellent breakfast. Very helpful staff
Pleasing
- Mark (10/5): Brilliant! - Very comfortable. Staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Great breakfast and dinner. Awesome authentic Caribbean rum punch to die for.
- Derek (9/5): Clean premises with friendly staff. - Very friendly staff, very clean, both accommodation and bar/restaurant.
Food was very good. Good atmosphere in restaurant. Nothing to dislike!
- Penelope (8/5): Very good - Good welcome. Room ok but WiFi unavailable. Also switches for side lamps not easily operated - we couldn't find them! Food good and interesting. Decided £15 a head was too much for breakfast so went elsewhere. See above for total review
- Pete (8/5): Very good -
- Garmalau (10/5): Definitely the best breakfast!! - The room was really nice, right opposite my friends wedding so didn't have to walk far, a shop on either side of the pub so that was very handy. For us the best thing was the breakfast!!! Absolutely delicious.
- Richard (10/5): Exceptional -
- Harry (9/5): Superb -
- Darren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jacqueline (7/5): It’s a good experience overall - Customer service , car park, out of hours entry, cleanliness, spacious rooms. Poor ventilation it would be helpful to have either air conditioner or a fan especially in the summer because it can get very hot at night
- Leon (10/5): Exceptional - The food was excellent and the staff and owner were friendly
