- Martina (10/5): Wonderful - Wonderful spacious place
- Margo (9/5): Superb -
- Maciej (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful place, nicely furnished with everything you need and more available. The parking place is indeed quite narrow.
- Lisa (9/5): Superb -
- Elaine (9/5): Lovely place - Location in Franschoek Nothing
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tony (8/5): Family stay at lavender cottage - The.Cottage in a great location within walking distance of all franschoeks facilities
The garden is beautiful
- Stephen (8/5): Comfortable cozy cottage very well lovated - Location was great A little expensive compared to other stays in Franschhoek
- Southwell (6/5): Sightly disappointed. - Outdoor seating Property in need of some TLC.
Mattress in one downstairs room too soft.
- Mary (8/5): We had a lovely visit to Franschoek during the time of the Chamber Music Festival which we enjoyed g - The location was fantastic. Although the road is rather busy Some of the chairs and sun beds were damaged and need replacing. It made the outside area feel a bit neglected
- Joanne (10/5): Exceptional - Great location at quiet end of town centre. Two outdoor terrace spaces offering shade and sun. Well equipped kitchen and large lounge area.
- Claire (10/5): Beautiful cottage in a great location. - Excellent spot, beautiful surroundings and gorgeous cottage interior. Great for older kids. Just mind the steps if you have a toddler.
- Nellie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Geoff (10/5): Lovely cottage - Large, comfortable and well-equipped cottage an easy walk to all the amenities of the beautiful town of Franschhoek. Tim is an excellent host, friendly, helpful and responsive. We had a great stay.
- Julien (9/5): Superb -
- Luzaan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Åsa (10/5): Cozy atmosphere - Beautiful and spacious had everything we needed
- Sandy (4/5): No value for money - outdated - untidy when called once the next morning just after 7 as we arrived late at night - aske - Location Price and value - we paid 27k and did not feel the are of this accommodation matches the price point for the following seasons :
1. Car did bring fit in the drive way and was asked to park on the street
2. Not std or payment for eg couches are dated and dirty
3. Bathroom had drainage problems
4. Asked for daily cleaning and told we have to take pay extra
5. When asked for daily clean towels , told that saving water and done twice for 5 day stay
6. Linen was not changed at all , even after asking to do so
7. No placemats etc for the tables
8. Safety is an issue - asked to always put the alarm on .
9. Has over 3 people knock on doors for work . People in street just walk into property and knock on doors .
10. Only two bathrooms for a 3 bedroom unit and brig are en suite - meaning that those in the third bedroom without a shower have to walk into another bedroom to use the shower.
11. A 5* hotel for two rooms with breakfast would have cost less .
12. Also told it is a self catering, but told if we use eg kitchen , we must clean up properly .
- Anthony (7/5): Great self catering accommodation in central Franschoek. - Lavender cottage is in a great location for central Franschhhoek, literally yards away from the wine tram and bus depot, and close to one of the best wine shops I have ever been to. The staff were great and helped us with several issues. The fire was great, and the kitchen was very useful. Morning tea and croissants (bought from the local bakers) were great out on the patio to the side of the house. Several creaky floorboards made for some fraught nighttime trips to the loo, and when we were there it was a bit cold despite the fire and air con - the double hight ceiling in the living room will be great in the summer, but not so much in the winter or spring!
- Michael (9/5): A wonderful stay in a spacious , well maintained house - Everything ! The contact with the owners & all instructions clear , the cleanliness , the location , the facilities . Tea, coffee and rusks great , a small milk in the fridge perhaps would be a great starter. Driveway with hedging very narrow for our cars so a bit of a mission getting in and out . Passengers need to get out first .
- Terry (8/5): Very good - Facilities were great and in walking distance to town We wanted to make a fire, but the wood was too wet, so that was a bit disappointing
- David (9/5): Pretty cottage close to town but out of the hustle and bustle of the main road -
- Daniel (10/5): Loved our time here, will definitely return! - Absolutely beautiful residence with large comfy beds and ample space for the whole family. Felt very secure and was walking distance to the town, the pick ‘n’ pay and the wine train/bus. Nothing.
- Morne (10/5): Exceptional -
- Joubert (10/5): A lovely time in a quaint and cosy cottage in beautiful Franschhoek. - We enjoyed our stay in this lovely cottage in the centre of Franschhoek. The cottage has a quaint and cosy feel to it. The fireplace was a nice extra on a very cold evening. They also have electric blankets on the beds which was amazing. Thank you for a lovely stay.
- Candice (8/5): Stay was great. Home is lovely! Very clean, neat and tidy! Fire place and lounge was amazing! - The doors were all a little stiff to open so we struggled a bit with the front door, date and garden gates. The one door by the bedroom downstairs didn’t open at all. We thought this may be a bathroom which would have been useful but we couldn’t open it.
- Debra-lee (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kylie (9/5): Superb -
- Roz (8/5): Very good -
- Glenn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Alan (10/5): Had a lovely time, Tim the owner made us feel very welcomed and attending to our every request. - Excellent host!!! Lovely house and perfectly located in beautiful Franschoek That we didn’t stay longer!
- Gina (9/5): Beautiful cottage, location and had everything we needed - plus fabulous outdoor gardens! - We arrived early and it was no problem at all Nothing, it was perfect
- Pauline (10/5): Stunning - Host was extremely accommodating
- Sadapal (8/5): Cute quaint house - Close access to the town and plenty of space and there was a alarm system - felt safe
- Chris (10/5): Great spacious house close to Franschhoek’s main street. - The house was very lovely and had a rustique look to it. Finding your way to the main street is just a block away away and walkable (even during the evening). Perfect for bigger travel parties (i.e. family with kids / two couples) as the house is spacious and has a nice garden area.
- Francesca (9/5): Beautiful cottage with lots of personality. good provisions for load shedding. - it was in a great location and had a lovely garden. It didn’t feel like the most secure property, but then again, it’s a safe area.
- Frederik (9/5): Large, clean space with nice garden! - Big, clean house with large garden. The pictures don’t do it justice. Great location, close to city center, vineyards and a great bakery (motherdough). Tim was always friendly and responsive. Car park was a bit tight, but it did fit.
- Alison (7/5): Good - Fantastic location. Great to sit outside in the evening. The mattress
- Aileen (10/5): Perfect stay in a perfect cottage - A beautiful cottage all to ourselves. 2 outdoor seating areas in the shade which we needed on the hot days! Very spacious lounge, very well fitted kitchen with dining area. And a short walk from everything. Nothing to dislike
- Hannahmrose (9/5): Superb - Easy self check in. Good comms with owner. House is lovely. Secure. Good parking. Great feel to place. Comfy beds. Nice eggs and milk provided. It was hit despite fans and air con...but it was one of the hottest few days of the year!
- Paula (10/5): . The Lavender cottage was a lovely gem! - Was a lovely self catering cottage . Very close to town. Lovely patios and gardens . House was fully equipped you didn’t need a thing. Tim has a wealth of knowledge about the area and was very kind and helpful. A lovely home away from home.
- Michelle (8/5): Lovely location and friendly owners. - Location is excellent- easy walk to centre Nothing.
- Frik (10/5): Exceptional -
- Diane (10/5): Lovely accommodation. Not having to work around “load shedding” schedule was a big bonus. -
- Ryan (10/5): Lovely cottage, close to town with access to everything you would need. - Beautiful cottage close to town.
- Nicola (7/5): Good -
- Marco (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lana (9/5): Friendly, well located and pretty - Cute and beautiful. Lovely hosts with great communication. Brilliant location Great hosts , pretty house and cosy log fires
- Arnon (8/5): Very good - Great location. Right next to the wine estates and the wine train. Cold....
Although there are radiators in the 2 bedrooms and a fireplace the villa can be cold...
- Daniela (9/5): We had a lovey stay. Perfect location especially close of you’re doing the wine tram. - Great location. Nice and spacious. We enjoyed the fireplace as it was a cold and rainy weekend. The driveway was very narrow and difficult to fit the vehicles. The upstairs room was a bit cold. More blankets and a heater would have been great.
- Tawanda (9/5): Superb -
- Ingrid (7/5): Beautiful house and location, just needs a little bit more thought. - The location is ideal and very central.
The beds were the most comfortable we have probably slept in - ever! Although there is a fireplace - it doesn’t work very well. Smoke bellows out, people sleeping upstairs suffered badly. We didn’t bother making another fire, which was sad as it was the main reason we chose this house (so we could sit, relax and drink wine by the fire). Not enough ‘normal’ drinking glasses. Curtains/Blinds don’t keep the streetlight out which is not so great for a sensitive sleeper.
- Rod (9/5): Superb -
- Valerie (9/5): Villa Ashbourne complemented perfectly the wonderful Literary Festival experience! - Location excellent; accommodation spacious, beautifully clean. An efficient inverter shielded us seamlessly from loadshedding. Tim was helpful, courteous, friendly and ready to assist.
- Charlene (9/5): Superb -
- Mark (10/5): Great Cottage - Whole package - great value for money.
Also, not bothered by loadshedfing. -
- Clive (10/5): Exceptional - Location, property exactly as described, attentive host. Ideal property and would stay there again
- John (9/5): Superb -
- Deon (8/5): The venue conformed to our requirements - Beautiful garden, location and spacious interior Barbecue facilities not adequate
- Euan (10/5): Fantastic property. Great location. - location, service, amenities….
- Isabel (10/5): Loved it and would stay again! - Really loved this place! Even nicer than the pictures :) It was all fab!
- Isabelle (10/5): Stunning house in Franschoek - Stuuning house very close to the main street. Everything you need to have a relaxing time in a beautiful setting.
- Usha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Cornelius (9/5): Superb -
- Robert (10/5): Outstanding will tell all our friends overseas visitors blown away - It would have been nice to have a bigger barbecue

- Fryer (8/5): Very good -
- Mills (8/5): Very good - The proximity to Town
- Frances (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandra (10/5): Exceptional - - Tim welcomed us personally, showed us everything in the house and gave us tips concerning things to see and do
- the complementary bottle of wine
- the house and the garden are lovely
- there are electric blankets to pre-heat the bed - wonderful as we were there in August Nothing
- Dana (10/5): Exceptional - The owners of the place were very nice, the place was very clean, there are many things to do in the area. .
- Elliot (10/5): I would recommend this to anyone. - Great location, especially if you’re doing the wine tram. Loved the garden and the decor. Could not fault it
