Guest Reviews
- Emily (10/5): -
- Brian (9/5): Really enjoyed the outside space and hosts' hospitality - My partner and I had stayed at a homestay in nearby Kimbissa in 2019 so we were looking for something similar within walking distance of Lion Rock to share with our friend this time round for 2 nights.
Keerthi's homestay was clean and very relaxing. The hosts were kind, helpful and attentive without being intrusive. We had both rooms - the Standard Double Room and Deluxe Family room - giving us exclusive access to the large verandah, table and seating.
The host cooked a lovely multi-dish curry for us on our first night which we enjoyed in the leafy and balmy setting with some cold beers and soft drinks. Keerthi also kindly organised an early breakfast the next day so we could get to Lion Rock early. The property is in a quiet location - apart from the odd barking dog - about 20-25 minutes walk from the ticket office near the base of the rock. The shower in the standard double room was lukewarm. This didn't spoil our friend's enjoyment as she was able to use our shower in the Deluxe Family Room.
- Quinn (10/5): - The host was amazing, even took us to the place where he grows all his own fruit and veg. Really nice guy and the room was clean and tidy and had a mosquito net already up.
- ChrisTheTraveller (10/5): - The room was very nice, the owner checked me in before official check-in time. Nothing
- Christopher (10/5): - The rooms are comfortable and the family is very sweet!
- Liam (10/5): - Great home stay, Keerthi and his family are lovely. Would recommend.
- Faten Fadaaq (10/5): Authentic Village Homestay Near the Rocks – Peaceful and Heartwarming - We had a wonderful stay at this peaceful homestay nestled in a shady, tree-covered area. The setting is quiet and refreshing, and the atmosphere truly feels like a part of everyday Sri Lankan village life.
The family was incredibly warm and friendly — always smiling, greeting us each time we came and left. Their kids are adorable, and the parents are always seen. Keerthi and wife were present and welcoming, making the whole experience feel like home. Breakfast was simple and tasty, and the vibe is very relaxed and uncommercialized.
One of the highlights was just being surrounded by local life: we saw a large herd of cows crossing the road, villagers working in the fields, and some drying crops right on the street — little moments that gave us a real sense of place.
The homestay is also in a great location — just a short distance from the two main rocks. There are a few great family-run restaurants within walking distance, but we had our own tuk-tuk, so getting around was no problem.
Highly recommended if you’re looking for a genuine and heartwarming Sri Lankan village experience.
