Guest Reviews
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- Jackie (9/5): Lovely short stay in a quaint cottage - Fantastic location, lovely wee cottage, nice touches like leaving a cake and very helpful and friendly host No electric kettle - whistle kettle for the stove, took a while to heat and quite heavy.
- Jacqui (8/5): A nice stay, we achieved what we planned and walked 10-12 miles each day from different train stops. - Te location was good as there were local shops. We did not intend to use our car whilst there, but the train The local pub did not sell food. The pub in Calstock was under refurbishment so only open for drinks at the time of our visit.
- Andrei (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (8/5): Nice little cottage in a great location - Lovely location perfect for where we we going, pretty easy to find
Good local amenities
Host answered our query easily, just as described
Clean and tidy well equipped The stovetop kettle was hit and miss, TV a bit small
- Michael (9/5): Superb - Very cosy, lovely décor, very comfortable bed. Bedroom very relaxing. Parking can be a bit tricky, a salt and pepper would have been handy. Local pub (hotel) not great.
- Jo (9/5): Superb - Such a beautiful cottage, very comfortable and the bed was insane, best sleep I've had in a long time. Liz was very helpful and quick to reply. I will definitely visit again. Just could have done with some smaller logs for the fire to help the large logs burn better, didn't affect my stay just a tiny issue I encountered.
- Ruby (9/5): Excellent, comfy, clean and friendly! - Beautiful comfortable cottage in a lovely village. Some excellent walks around for the dog and had everything we could need!
Was an amazing start to the new year thank you so much Matt & Liz! Wasn’t a major issue at all and didn’t influence our stay but the hot water did run out (one of us had a bath so probably that’s why) and the electric tripped a couple of times but easily solved!
- Stuart (10/5): We will definitely be back, thank you both so much xx - We absolutely loved your little cottage, the bed was absolutely amazing!!!! We didn’t want to get up 😂 the fire was so lovely, and all your little touches to make us welcome were so nice!! Thank you so much xx It was a tad chilly but once we settled in we warmed up lovely, and I got my folks to get the fire 🔥 going was beautiful xxxx
- Pauline (10/5): Excellent 👌 - Excellent 👌 as always. A regular stop over to visit family in the village. A lovely welcome pack and very comfortable. Thank you again. Nothing
- Lindsay (10/5): Location is just round the corner from my friend so it was ideal for visiting her. -
- Glynn (10/5): Superb little cottage and a pictureess area for walks and taking a drive out to see other villages . - Hi we choose rose cottage for its lovely lay out and for how clean it is. The cottage is very well equipped with everything you would need for a short break and local shops and butchers across the road great place. Nothing 😊
- Ken (9/5): Superb -
- Emma (10/5): Exceptional - The cottage is flawless, the colour palette beautiful and restful, and everything is immaculate. The bed is easily the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The host left a cream tea for my arrival. It's a great place to base yourself for an active, outdoor holiday where you can yomp the trails all day, then come in for a great shower/bath and a great night's sleep. Loved the Neal's Yard handwash, too. It is touches like this that make somewhere special. The cottage was incredible value for money; it was flawless. I found the road noise difficult when the windows were open, but I am aware that for most people who live somewhere where they hear regular traffic, this probably won't register. I live on an exceptionally low-traffic road, so I am probably hyperaware. The double-glazing was perfect at eliminating road noise.
- Justyna (10/5): Exceptional - Nice cottage with a very comfortable bed. We were welcomed with cakes and a bottle of fresh local milk.
- Deborah (8/5): Very good -
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Julie (10/5): Delivered on every level with regard to our requirements and would not hesitate to rebook. - Location was perfect for accessing the event we were attending. No problem with on street parking. Really useful being so close to convenience shops. The property itself was beautifully presented and very comfortable. Leaving!
- Charlie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vanessa (10/5): Lovely little cottage beautiful. Well equipped in a lovely area. - Well equipped and comfortable
- Nancy (10/5): Great place to stay! - Lovely cottage equipped with everything you need in a good location!
Liz and Matt are great hosts!
- Sharron (10/5): A must place to stay. - It was amazing so cosy and bed was sooooo comfy. Love the open fire. Having to come home.
- Sarah (9/5): Perfect winter getaway. - Cosy, comfortable bed, had everything we needed in the kitchen. Glad we visited in winter so we could take advantage of the open fire. Handy parking and convenience stores just a stones throw away.
Lovely unexpected cake on arrival. Not a criticism… just the one time I didn’t pack shampoo was the one time a property didn’t have it.
- Genna (10/5): Beautiful - This beautiful holiday home exceeded our expectations, every room was beautiful, the bed was very comfortable, best night sleep I've had in a long while.
We had a lovely stay, after a day exploring the nearby towns and villages, we cooked our dinner in a very well equipped kitchen then got all cosy with the stunning fireplace all lit while watched a movie with a glass of red wine, bliss!
Can not recommend this property enough.
We will be back, hopefully very soon! Thank you
- Anonymous (10/5): Lovely brief stay . The cottage was lovely and well equipped . Would happily recommend it to others - Very clean and tidy . Nice and warm and well equipped Nothing
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Maggie (10/5): Lovely stay cottage was decorated lovely and homely beds very comfy we had a lovely stay and wound d - We didn’t cook breakfast but thought the property was gorgeous Nothing
- Jess (9/5): Superb - A quaint little house with low ceilings, Probably started life as a miners dwelling, carefully and tastefully modernised to retain some of the character. There was a parking space on Cornwall St, well suited for a small car (Polo 2F).
The co-op and premier are literally 3 doors down, the premier has better choice than the co-op although a little more expensive, butchers shop is across the road. chip shop and pub not much further. There is a petrol station at the opposite end of the village- ask for directions.
The mobile phone signal (O2) is . . pathetic. Write a few numbers down and use the phone boxes or text.
Drive slowly and expect a disaster around each corner, you will survive the single lane roads. The kettle was the old fashioned sit on the cooker variety, as a tea in hand kind of person it got irritating waiting for it to boil. At home I have a small air fryer but to be honest I don't think the kitchen was big enough to accomodate one.
The biggest issue was the fact we could not stay longer.
- Alysoun (8/5): Lovely cottage in good location - Cottage has some lovely touches from the hosts and is well equipped We could not find a Wifi code so suffered with zero connectivity during our stay
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely cottage set in a very welcoming village with everything we could possibly need and more. Extremely comfortable extra large bed and the best shower we have had at any property. With homemade scones, jam and cream to greet us on arrival, what a treat. Excellent area to explore with great walks set in the Tamar Valley. Thoroughly enjoyable 10 day visit. Thank you so much Liz and Matt for everything. Everything
- Faith (10/5): Quirky and comfortable. - Loved the quirkiness of the cottage and the welcome gifts were a lovely touch. Nothing
- Charlotte (9/5): Lovely cosy stay - Very cosy and homely, kitchen well provisioned with all the equipment you need, and a very comfy bed! Great location right in the heart of the village. Communication with hosts was excellent. Nothing!
- Kaur (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nadine (9/5): It was a good location to explore surrounding areas from - Very comfortable, clean and high quality interior and goods None
- Pauline (8/5): Very good - Very comfy bed and lovely bedding. Well equipped and beautifully presented throughout and nice cream tea on arrival Sofa not very comfy and parking wasn’t brilliant
- Jennifer (9/5): Cosy Comfy and beautiful cottage just right for me and my dog - The cottage was perfect for a single traveller or couple. Dog friendly and a nice little enclosed back yard too which would contain a small dog. Very thorough instructions. Beautifully equipped and the comfiest bed I had ever experienced in a holiday cottage. Gifts of scones cream and jam left for me. Very nice. Great shops along the street. The parking at the rear was fine as long as you could get a spot but it wasn't guaranteed which I felt should have been made clear. The back up street parking was very busy too. Apart from that the stay was perfect.
- Michelle (10/5): The cottage was so beautiful, perfect for my husband and our dog. all the facilities you need and in a good location. Th - Everything! It was so perfect, and had everything you needed. Great location and the hosts were great. Nothing
- Kate (9/5): Very comfortable accommodation - Very comfy bed, good shower everything needed for your stay Stairs very steep just have to be aware when using them
- Pauline (10/5): Pretty cottage in the village - Fantastic welcome pack and an open fire laid ready to light ( which we didn't as despite being March was very snug!) Very high quality home and such a comfy bed ( my husband wants the same pillows!)
As we were visiting family in the village it was perfect ...and we will return!
