- Guy Weilbach (10/5): - Peaceful street. Friendly neighbors. Wonderful walking route with the dogs.
- Bianca (1/5): People like this should not be allowed to scam people on Booking.com - This lady is a complete scammer! She steals your money and does not respond when you try and confront her. I will be reporting her The host is dishonest and unprofessional and unethical!
- Ralph (10/5): Nice and quiet. No traffic up and down . Enjoyed that there was no TV . - After a long journey to get there , was just what I needed to put my feet up and relax.
Enjoyed a nice 6,5km run at the back of town that was great training. WiFi strength could improve, but then again the host spoke to me about it .
- Martina (7/5): - Parking with Bakkie impossible. All outside doors were barred. In case of fire no escape, except front door and 1000 of mosquitos. House needs a little renovation. Otherwise clean and comfortable

- Andrew (10/5): Loved our stay - We loved our brief stay at Spekboom cottage. We appreciated the effort Sue has made to retain/ restore the character of this traditional dwelling whilst providing comfortable accommodation. Sue went out of her way to help us for which we were very grateful, highly recommended.
- Elzette (9/5): Clean, comfortable and lovely to sit in garden after being on the road. - Self catering.
But Sue left coffee, milk, tea, rusks, bananas and even fresh muffins. I cannot think of anything.
- Elizabeth (9/5): We'll be back! - Very clean. Comfortable beds, 2 towels per person for a one night stay, nice quiet area.
- Leonie (8/5): Spekboom Cottage offers good value for money. Quiet neighbourhood, well equipped house. - The property is located in a quiet part of the town, but still in walking distance from the restaurants. The kitchen is well equipped. The host was very kind and we appreciated the fresh fruit and milk. I would suggest that the taps are all clearly marked to indicate hot and cold water, as it waste a lot of precious water to let taps run in order to find out which taps are the hot water taps.
- Karen (9/5): Comfortable stay in a typical Klein Karoo cottage - The property is an authentic, rustic Klein Karoo cottage with a lot of character. Both bedrooms have their own bathroom, and the kitchen is equipped with everything you might need. While there is no aircon, thr fans keep the rooms surprisingly cool. My favourite part was sitting on the stoep in the evening breeze after a hot day. Nothing not to like, although having to boil water for tea in a kettle on the gas stove takes some getting used to.
- Olivier (10/5): - Maison trés agréable hôtes trés sympathiques. RAS
- Timo (10/5): Beautiful quiet cottage, clean and with a wonderful garden. 10/10 would recommend! - Lovely and quiet, clean and cool inside, good supply of fans and supplies for mosquitoes during the supper. Appreciated the personal touch of fresh water, muffins and fruit!
- Stuart (9/5): -

- Sharon (9/5): Comfortable feel at home house - Very comfortable homey house. Good quality all round. Superior bed comfort.
- Ludick (10/5): -

- Michael (8/5): Very comfortable and relaxing stay. - The location is not great due to the poor maintenance of the local road by the municipality. I was unable to access the property's designated parking area due to the municipal road condition.
- Jonathon (10/5): Thank you Sue for a peaceful stay. - Quiet and Peaceful, walkable distance to town, everything you need in the house is provided.
- Amy Nightingale (9/5): We had a fantastic one-night stopover on our way to CPT. Everything we needed for a nights rest. - Location is lovely; with a beautiful garden. So appreciated the hosts amazing muffins which were super for a quick takeaway breakfast. Highly recommend!
- Patricia (8/5): -
- Lise-mari (9/5): Lovely stay - Well equipped with all amenities.
- Dave (8/5): Relaxed, spacious & quiet, with everything you need. - Plenty of space. Well-equipped. Reasonable price, and there were just 2 of us - would have been cheap for more people, & there are 2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms. Quiet area, coffee shop down the road. Nice couch on the stoep, very chilled. Could use something in the bottom of the braai so the coals don't fall through so easily! And make sure geyser & fridge are switched on. And the road is very narrow so be careful, but there was plenty of warning about that. All in all very minor, no issues.
- Delia (8/5): a cosy, quirky two bedroom home with loads of character and charm - It’s cute, quirky and comfortable, and is on a pretty road. Sue, the owner, was relaxed and helpful. it was great to be able to use the washing machine. Sue’s elderly cat is very friendly. There was load shedding which we weren’t warned about. However, after one call to Sue, she quickly brought a portable battery to get WiFi on and a few lamps!
- Malcolm (8/5): Very good - Enjoyed the large verandah, outside dining table and the surrounding garden. Lovely old historic home. Narrow lane and awkward access driveway. Surrounding houses much closer than I anticipated. Slow flow of hot water to shower. I personally enjoy chatting to the owner/management when I arrive, but there was not much interaction here.
- Vosloo (8/5): Great place for a getaway, the perfect little hidden away street - The best street to be in Calitzdorp
- David (9/5): Great stay. - Very homly and authentic, had a very comfortable stay.
- Malcolm (8/5): Exceeded expectation. Sue greeted us and made sure we were comfortable. -
- Gildenhuys (10/5): Its a quiet neighborhood. We braaied on the stoop. Everything that you need is there. - The Host covered everything, from bath soap to even a small pantry with the basic ingredients. Everything was clean and neat. There is a dishwasher and washing machine. Communication could be better, it would be nice to new the location by pin and maybe the code of the key before we got there. The driveway is a little bit tricky, especially if you drive a big car. Luckily the host said we must drive from the top.
- Marek (10/5): Exceptional -
- Charles (10/5): Lovely stay - Very good
- Gareth (7/5): Good value for money - Quaint settler cottage. All amenities. Very central. Hot water geyser was not switched on hence No hot water initially. Host did not mention this. Found through trial and error. Parking very tight for 4x4
- Chandre (10/5): Exceptional -
- Natasha (10/5): Exceptional - Nice and cozy, very relaxing. Having a braai, eating oustide, and relaxing on the couch till midnight :-) . The cat is also adorable. Will definitely come again.
- Troy (10/5): Wonderful stay. Excellent value. - Wonderful cottage overnight stay for our family of 4. We enjoyed grilling dinner on the Weber and soaked in a relaxing meal at the outside dining area. The kitchen is well stocked and made it easy for us to prepare breakfast. The friendly host is next door if needed however the place is very well setup and cared for so we did not need any assistance. Would happily stay again on our next time through the area. Excellent value.
- Barbara (8/5): Very good -
- Hugo (8/5): Calitzdorp at its best! Local and lekker - Calitzdorp hospitality! Beautiful linen. Old and quaint but well maintained. 6 bed two bathroom gem N/A
- Anita (10/5): Lovely home with a beautiful garden. The perfect spot to get away from it all. - We had such a wonderful stay at this beautiful and spacious house! The accommodation was incredibly comfortable, and the fully equipped kitchen made it easy to prepare meals, although we did notice there wasn't a microwave. The washing machine was a fantastic bonus, making our stay even more convenient. On arrival, we were greeted with amazing muffins, which was such a thoughtful touch.
The hostess was absolutely amazing—she went above and beyond to suggest fantastic activities and places to explore, making our trip even more enjoyable. The setting was peaceful and quiet, with a lovely garden to enjoy and a charming 'stoep' perfect for appreciating the outdoors. We truly appreciated every detail and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a cozy and tranquil place to stay. A microwave would definitely make things a bit easier but not too serious. Otherwise everything was perfect!
- Connock (7/5): Sue was very friendly and helpful. We were comfortable and relaxed in her cosy cottage. Just what we needed! - This was a great spot to stopover on our trip to Cape Town. The honesty box with food was a fantastic idea. There are lot of games available for family time. Maybe a little more rustic than the pictures, but it was comfortable and clean. There were lots of mosquitoes but Sue had left doom and citronella incense and fans to keep them at bay.
- Ian (9/5): The place to stay in Calitzdorp. - This accommodation was very well presented. The owner was pleasant, and everything was ready for our arrival.
The kitchen is fully equipped with cutlery and crockery and the locality is ideal.
The house is up on hill, which means that there is air movement at all times.
They accepted my old daxhund dog as a guest as well. There is nothing not to like about Spekboom Cottage.
I was rather surprising though that they didn't have a microwave BUT they did have an electric stove/oven.
so everything was achievable
- Johann (10/5): Clean, comfortabel, peacefull. Charming little house - Although it is an old house it was exceptionally clean and well equipped. Sue was very friendly and helpful. We were spoiled with nice flowers and complimentary fruit Not applicable, all well
- Clyde (7/5): Good - The pretty gardens and quaint neighbourhood. The parking was a bit tricky especially with a trailer.
- Heshusius (9/5): This cozy, well put together cottage is a Gem to stay at. Will recommend it any time! - The cottage was very well put together and had character. There were fresh flowers and complimentary muffins. although we did not make use of it, the honesty pantry was a great option. Enough space for 4 adults. Nice outdoor area. the parking was a little challenging, might be because of size car and narrow road
- Deran (9/5): Superb -
- Moran (10/5): A joy and a pleasure to stay at Spekboom Cottage. - Sue was very friendly and helpful. We loved the location of the lovely, well kept and restored old cottage. I'll recommend Spekboom Cottage in Calitzdorp to everyone. I even chatted to the very friendly ladies of the neighbourhood out on their walk. Lovely! Magda Moran.
- Elizabeth (9/5): A gem in Caliitzdorp - beautifully decorated and very comfortable with a wonderful and most helpful owner of properly
- Des (8/5): Comfortable and a friendly host - A big bath and large bath towels
Good kitchen facilities Needs electric blankets for cold weather
- Natasha (10/5): Exceptional - The quietness, the safety and the good environment and the friendly hospitality bring warmness to the heart The coldnest of the weather
There no macrovawe
- Desire (8/5): Good value, nice stay in authentic Calitzdorp house. Will stay there again. - Perfect location, quiet and peaceful The house was very cold, a heater and/ or electric blankets in rooms would be wonderful.
- Jacky (10/5): Cozy and comfortable with a great Host. - Really enjoyed our stay as the Host is super helpful and there immediately if you need anything. All the necessities were available. She went out of her way just to make sure our pups could not get out of the yard. It was also exactly as shown on Booking. So very happy.
- Muriithi (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was great
- Aharon (7/5): It was a restful weekend. - The host made a great effort to make us feel welcome. The photos on the website looked like it was a secluded cottage but in truth it was one of many in a small street. Our stay was still very good we just expected something different.
