Guest Reviews
- Akila (10/5): - All was good
Absolute Weiterempfehlung!
- Ott (9/5): Superb location and great host - Absolutely spectacular location and spacious house with nice terrace. Also, the host was super helpful with organising everything from transport to tours. Homemade food was a nice addition.
- Fedor (10/5): A beautiful house with a pool in the middle of tea plantations. A very quiet place. The person who provided our meals wa - A beautiful house with a pool in the middle of tea plantations. A very quiet place. The person who provided our meals was wonderful. Thank you, we highly recommend this place.
- Natasha (10/5): Quiet paradise getaway - Serene, quiet and beautiful. You can relax and unwind as monkeys jump fr tree to tree, you can relax with your feet in the clean river as fish swim by and the pool is perfect to dip in to cool down. Easy access to Sinharaja and the host goes out of his way to make you welcome. He helped with bags and also prepared some amazing food for breakfast/ dinner. A truly wonderful place to stay to relax and unwind. We liked everything about this place
- Judy (10/5): Fabulous, magical place to stay. - We loved our stay at Rainforest Cabin! It was full of pleasure and adventure! Ravindra is the perfect host and his mother’s home-made meals are delicious and plentiful! Ravindra arranged our guide in the Singahara Park, who showed us the special flora and fauna of the rainforest and guided us to a divine waterfall where we had a refreshing swim. Ravindra then took us on a night walk through the local forest. The cabin is very comfortable and clean. It even has a mini fridge with beers and treats! The highlight of our stay was a swim in the quiet river just below the cabin…delightful. Thank you Ravindra for a lovely stay! The cabin is in the rainforest, so there is a lot of ‘nature’…bugs etc. If that’s not your thing…
- Lisa (10/5): We would recommend staying here ! - The location is very beautiful and peaceful. We especially loved walking down to the nearby river to swim . Delicious food and warm welcome Nothing to dislike
The guide that was recommended to us for the rainforest walk was very nice . We missed more info about the plants and ecosystem. And it was suprisly expensive tho we enjoyed
- Emily (10/5): Rainforest immersion - What a unique experience. I stayed in the Family Room with Garden View and I felt completely immersed in the rainforest there. It was raining when I was there and it felt really cozy. The host, Ravindra, was kind, welcoming and very helpful. He organized for an amazing female guide for me in Sinharaja, as well as transport there and to my next destination. His mother cooked delicious dinners and breakfasts, and even a packed lunch for my day trip. The pool was a great bonus - I had a much-needed fresh dip following my hike. The house is pretty remote and I imagine wouldn't be accessible to all. The last section requires crossing two rivers either on foot (10 minute walk) or on a motorbike (driven by Ravindra).
In de koelkast staan gekoelde drankjes, o.a. bier.
Nulla, perfetta
- Theja (10/5): -
- Martina (10/5): -
- Pesala (9/5): - We like that location. Also, staff and their treatments Nice river passing close to the place
- Karolina (10/5): Real find for natural lovers - We had a wonderful time and it was a great adventure too:) When we arrived at the parking spot, Ravi gave us a lift in his TukTuk all the way up to the little river crossing - it was nice to cool down a bit in the river before reaching the cabin. Ravi’s Mum did all the cooking for us (and she is an amazing cook!), which Ravi delivered to our porch :) He has also arranged guided trips to the park for us and in general was incredibly helpful and kind:) We had a fantastic time! Thank you Ravi and the family.
- Idwine (10/5): Uitzonderlijk good!
Niets!
- Krystal (10/5): Relaxing cute cabin nestled in nature - Beautiful location, lovely host, clean cabin nestled in the rainforest. Stroll to the river or walk through the tea plantation right outside your door step. Would love to come back! It was all excellent
- Michaela (10/5): Perfect stay at the perfect place - One of our best stays in Sri Lanka!
The hut is very idyllic, surrounded by beautiful nature – a perfect place to relax and recharge.
The communication before arrival was excellent, and thanks to Ravindra’s directions we found the hut easily, even though it’s a bit tucked away.
He also organized a wonderful rainforest tour and helped with our onward transport.
The breakfast was great, and we also had the chance to enjoy a delicious dinner.
Ravindra was incredibly helpful and attentive throughout our stay – really the best host we had.
Thank you so much for everything! Nothing
- Parasto (10/5): Exceptional - This was a magical experience being in a peaceful rainforest, next to a river, surrounded by wild nature and the perfect service from Ravinre who always met us with a big smile and kind heart.
We will definitely go back next year.
- Frafisch (10/5): Great stay! Absolute recommendation for nature lovers! - Ravindra is a lovely host, he made our stay a very pleasant experience. Already getting there is beautiful, Ravindra picked us up with his TukTuk, and carried our luggage the last +/- 300 meters walk through a lush landscape to the beautiful cabin, remotely located, but equipped with everything you need. Ravindra brought us nice dinners and a great breakfast, had little surprises like fresh juice after an excursion, etc. We had a great stay! -
- Finnley (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing location, nestled away in the forest. Lovely lad who couldn’t do enough for us. Definitely recommend
- Rollson (10/5): Exceptional - The host Ravindra and his family are really genuine and helpful. The pictures on the site don't do justice to the property. It's waaaayy more beautiful in reality. Being in the wilderness and taking walks in the property and the rainforest very close to it was really nice. He organised tours around at a very nominal price. The food is heavenly. Definitely will be visiting again!
- Ali (10/5): I like to travel to remote locations. This place was a 5 star experience in a cabin. The owner Ravindra went out of his w - Outstanding location. The design of the cabin was exceptional. There is a private lake like a private swimming pool which is awesome You need to walk around 300 meters to the cabin. The owner Ravindra helped with the backpacks so it was quite pleasant. I recommend that you travel light with a backpack or bag.
- C (10/5): Wonderful quiet place in the forest 🐒 - The location is superb. Quiet, in the middle of nature with birds and monkeys. The natural pool nearby (50m) is refreshing. Also villagers and workers from the tea plantations will come for a swim and cooling down.
Host Ravindra is very attentive and looks after you if you have questions.
He has a friend who is a good driver for transfer to the next or previous location, very good service as the cabin is quite remote. Would have give an 11 if possible 😉
- Jakub (10/5): amazing experience - We stayed in Ravindra’s cabin for 5 nights. We had an amazing time. The cabin is clean and cute, very comfortable bed, hot shower. It’s in a super authentic Sri Lankan village, surrounded by tea plants, just next to a river with a natural swimming pool. Most of the time you have the river all to yourself, sometimes you get to meet the locals which is a nice experience. The food Ravindra serves is amazing!! You get to taste some delicious and authentic rice and curry. It was a chance to discover some vegetables and fruit that we never tried. It’s definitely worth to book a wildlife tour of the Sinharaja Rainforest, we saw snakes, lizards, spiders, scorpions and monkeys. The tea factory is also worth a visit. Night walk in the jungle with Ravindra was also fun! All in all, an amazing experience. Sri Lanka is a beautiful island, make the effort to get off the beaten track and you will be rewarded. And Ravindra is a super friendly host, meeting him was just lovely. nothing
- Thilini (10/5): Exceptional - Excellent Nothing
- Davide (10/5): Unforgettable experience - The cabin is in the heart of the forest and among tea plantations. To reach the cabin you have to cross two small creeks where you can also enjoy the natural pools. The cabin is very clean with a comfortable bed, there I also an outside patio where dinner and breakfast are served. There is electricity thanks to a solar panel. Ravindra is a very kind and attentive host. He will help you with your backpacks and will bring your meals to the cabin. He also organises tour of the forest and accompany you to the forest with his tuk tuk. We asked for dinner and breakfast and both meals were very good and with large portions both prepared by Ravindra's mother. Both during the day and night you can see a lot of birds and other animals around the cabin. Definitely one of the best experiences in our trip to Sri Lanka.
- Leanne (10/5): Fireflies and starry skies - Gorgeous cabin, built by the owner over 5 years, immersed in tea fields and rainforest. Scenic walk, including through a couple of shallow rivers, to get to the cabin. Beautiful swimming hole out the front. Comfortable bed and fan provided. Friendly host with good food cooked by his mother, brought to the cabin and eaten undercover outdoors. Peaceful as it is a long way from the nearest road. Village life goes on around you - tea pickers at work, people bathing and the village youth playing drums and singing by the waterhole. Fireflies and starry skies at night. Close to a less busy entrance to Sinharaja, which means limited choice of (mandatory) guides. Not much pointed out in rainforest and little information provided. Lower expectations and view it as a waterfall tour.
- Valérie (10/5): The most wonderful place I've ever been to! - This was the most beautiful, magical place I have been to! I went with my friends, first for 4 nights and decided quickly to extend. It is a little cabin in the middle of a tea plantation, far away from civilisation and right next to a stream of cold water in which we would swim in the morning. Ravindra is the kindest soul, helping us with everything we needed: Bringing us to the tea factory, to the temple, giving us an amazing hiking tour through nearby waterfalls and bringing us to his mother's house to eat and drink tea. The food is absolutely delicious! In the evening he would make us a bonfire, and we watched the fireflies surrounding us. I really cannot recommend this absolutely magical place enough!! If you can, then GO! Everything was perfect
- Lukas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Grace (10/5): Magical jungle escape - Ravindra has put so much into this cabin - it’s amazing. It’s eco built so it runs off solar energy and has a natural cooling system. There’s even wifi!
My meals were all homemade by his mother and he brought them to the cabin I felt like a queen😂
There’s also options to do tours and treks which I would recommend!
It was rainy season when I went and honestly I still loved it - swimming in the natural pool in the rain that I had all to myself.
I can’t explain how wonderful this was, you have the most wonderful spot - fireflies in the night, monkey families in the morning - bliss! Can’t recommend enough☺️ Nothing ☺️
- Hannah (10/5): A peaceful & adventurous stay, in rural Sri Lanka. - A serene space in the heart of the jungle, surrounded by trees & peaceful scenery. You have to cross 2 streams to get to the property, making it a very magical experience. The host was very attentive, going above & beyond for us during our stay. He also took us on a hike in the area, which was one of the best hikes we’ve done. It gives you a true glimpse into rural Sri Lankan life, a highlight of our trip. We also went on a tour of Sinharaja, organised by the host, which was also amazing. We couldn’t recommend this space more. Nothing :)
- Joanna (9/5): A really special and memorable place - We loved our stay in the Rainforest. Ravindra was a brilliant host - he organised a great rainforest guide for us and the meals he served were some of the best we had during our 2 week Sri Lanka trip! Its lovely that these meals are brought to the cabin and you can eat outside.
The cabin itself is fairly basic inside but its comfortable, has everything you need and is good value for money.
The location is extremely special, you really feel immersed in nature. On our last night we saw the most amazing starry sky and fireflies flying overhead!
We stayed here after several days on the more touristy areas on the south coast and we are so glad we did - you feel like you experience the true sri lanka :). Would definitely recommend staying here if you enjoy wildlife, nature, total peace and quiet.
Thank you Ravindra :)! This is not a criticism of the cabin but understandably as it is a rainforest there are quite alot of insects around, so its worth bringing some DEET or diffusers with you :).
- Maggie (10/5): Exceptional - This cabin is perfect for anyone who wants peace and quiet, just the sounds of nature. It is in an isolated spot surrounded by forest and the owners tea plantation. It is approached by foot..a 10 min walk from the road. The host lives about 1km away.
Ravivinder, the host could not have been more helpful, arranging transport from Colombo, forset trip,(UNESCO rain forest...15 mins to the enterance by motor bike...dont miss it !) and even took me to the bus station. He brought his mothers food over which was very good.
There was a beautiful natural pool 2 mins walk from the cabin, deep enough for swimming.
I would really recommend the cabin for nature lovers who want to escape from everything for a few days. As a solo traveller it was more remote than I had expected.
- Botond (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful house with bathroom, in a paradise location, in the nature.Visiting a tea factory,a stunning trip to the waterfalls, led by the host! In addition, it also provides delicious breakfast and dinner! He also organized the rainforest trip excellently. A wonderful place, an eternal memory! I Recommend it to all adventure seekers.
- Jean (10/5): Exceptional - There is NOTHING to dislike! The best place I think I've ever stayed in my life. Just magic.
The food is incredible, and we wanted to stay longer, but he was fully booked. Waaaaaaaa!!! The fact we had to leave
- Adam (10/5): Really made our trip. One of best experiences on our trip to sri lanka. - Amazing host, showed us a lot, very kind. Took us to tea factory, hike, buddist temple, played cricket, explained a lot of things. Had an amazing time there. Delicius food.
- Dold (10/5): Exceptional - The host was a very nice guy and helped me with everything and took care of me the whole time. Also the food was delicious. It is a litle bit remote but a very nice place. Would recommend.
- Franziska (10/5): Exceptional - Staying at the rainforest cabin was one of the highlights of our one month long stay in sri lanka. The place is incredibly beautiful and it was so nice to be surrounded by nature. Ravindra is a great host and made our stay really special. He arranged a guided rainforest tour for us and took us on a little hike close to the cabin. We would not change a thing and can only recommend staying at this hidden gem. Nothing
- Niamh (10/5): A must do while in Sri Lanka - Where to begin, this place is pure magic. We ended up extending our stay because we loved it so much.
Our host Ravinda was incredible, he met us off the taxi and led us to the cabin, you walk through two streams to get there so keep this in mind with packing. He took us on a massive hike to see some waterfalls which is well worth doing.
His mum cooked us home made breakfast, lunch and dinner… and kindly would drop down local fruits and snacks for us to try.
The cabin itself is great, it’s nicely decorated, simple and the perfect backdrop to the rainforest. Every day we were there it was sunny all day and then had these amazing rainstorms in the evening!
It would be a huge miss not to stay here while in Sri Lanka, we absolutely loved it!! Nothing, we can’t stop thinking about how amazing it was!
- Sarvarakshani (10/5): Exceptional -
- Supun (7/5): Rainforest Cabin Stay - Beautiful of Nature at location.
Friendly Staff.
Calm environment. Foods are bit expensive.
- Senuri (10/5): Nature lover’s dream getaway - Staying at rainforest cabin was an unforgettable experience. It was so lovely to stay tucked away from the main tourist traps and support this family owned business. Ravindra was amazing and so generous with his time and energy whether it be bringing us delicious home cooked meals (made by his mother) or showing us secluded swimming spots/waterfalls! To get to the cabin (as is it secluded) you have to walk approx. 8 minutes and cross two streams which for us made the stay even more of an adventure. Also, the natural swimming pool 100m from the cabin was a highlight!
Absolutely loved staying here and hope to visit again in the future.
- Sajith (10/5): Good Service, - Good Service, Good Service,
- Lk (10/5): Exceptional -
