• Nicola (8/5): Peace and quiet above the main town - A really wonderful location on a small hill above the noise and dust of the main strip. The views were magnificent and there were some wonderful birds and stars to be seen from there too. The amenities are basic but have everything you need. Alejandro and MIriam were super helpful and suggested a few great places for me to try. They also helped collect me and my giant suitcase when the tuk tuk couldn't make it up the hill. Probably the most peaceful place in Mancora!

• Michaela (8/5): - It is nice place with beautiful view. But you have to go a little bit up. During the rain is not so comfortable way. They tried to exchange the money to give you back. We were forced to go into town and exchange it ourselves.

• Max (6/5): Mediocre stay - The view was really nice and a kind offer of a free mango juice as we arrived. The kitchen isn't really usable and the common area was run down (roof, furniture etc). There is no sink to wash dishes or your hands, therefore it's dirty. We have been asked to save water where we did not have any lengthy showers. We had to move every night, because on the first night there was water in the room due to a storm, after the second night we were told that there was no water and we had to find a different accommodation. Then at first we were told to pay 5% extra for paying cash in USD (when the price was advertised as USD) and when paying in soles a higher rate was asked for. (The official market rate was 1 USD : 3.35 soles, we should pay 3.6 soles for 1 USD). The inconvenience caused due to check-in out one night earlier wasn't resulting in a discount apart from dropping the 5% fee that i don't think is fair in the first place. I do understand that it's not in their hands that there was a storm, but it felt like they just wanted to make business. In my opinion rooms should be dry as rain is normal in Mancora at this time of the year.

We would not stay here again. - The view from the property was beautiful, and the property had a nice hammock outside overlooking it. Although the hill is a bit annoying, it's a short walk to the downtown area and it's not so bad. We were very disappointed in the comfort and cleanliness of Kontiki, and I don't understand why this property has gotten good reviews. We were put in a bungalow which looked very cool and unique from the outside, but upon walking in we were shocked - it seemed like it was half under construction, was full of trash and clothing from previous guests, and everything was covered in a layer of dust and dirt. The bed was on the floor, the headboard was a piece of old foam wrapped in a dirty piece of cloth, and the sheets were noticeably dirty, we had to ask for clean sheets. There was also no hot water, only cold water in the shower. The bungalow is also not fully closed from the outdoors, and there are no screens or mosquito nets, so we got bitten by mosquitoes all night. I would not be complaining so much if we had paid 25 dollars, but the room cost 100 USD, which was more expensive than much nicer accomodations we stayed in elsewhere in Peru/Mancora.

• Eveillard (1/5): À éviter absolument - A fuir !!! Nous avions réservé deux nuits via booking. Lors de la deuxième soirée les propriétaires nous ont simplement dégagé de l’hôtel à 20h le soir car nous ne voulions pas payer plus cher que le prix annoncé sur booking. Ils disaient avoir fait une erreur et nous demandait le double du prix réservé sur l’application. Nous avons refusé, ils se sont donc énervés contre nous et nous ont incendiés en nous disant de partir tout de suite du logement. Le tout en nous insultant de racistes et de mal éduqués. On a dû trouver un autre logement d’urgence le soir dans Mancora. En supplément il n’y a pas d’eau chaude (voir même pas d’eau tout court). L’eau s’est coupé lorsque je prenais ma douche le premier jour, j’ai dû me rincer avec une bouteille d’eau.

Es todo lo que buscábamos para estar en contacto con la naturaleza. Desde el mirador pudimos avistar ballenas ❤️ Tener que devolverme a mi casa 😅

• Michael (10/5): Best place to stay in Mancora - it’s paradise 👌 - Can’t say enough good things about this place! The views are incredible, since it’s on a hill it’s exclusively got the best views in town - it looks out over a canyon from one side and the ocean from the other. There is a path with stairs (doesn’t come up on Google Maps) but that means it’s only a short 5 min walk from the main street. Being up on the hill just away from town was so much more peaceful since the loud music in town could be hectic some nights. Our bungalow was so spacious and pretty, quiet and private, the bed was HUGE, and enjoyed the hammock and deck chairs on the patio. The wifi worked great most of the time, showers often only lukewarm but it didn’t matter since it’s so hot here. The hosts Alessandro and Miriam were the best! So friendly and down to earth. Alessandro is also a brilliant chef and they hosted a delicious pizza night one night as well. Value for money - amazing! One of the cheapest places we stayed in Peru, loved our bungalow, and with the most unreal views. A little paradise to relax and enjoy some beach time. Go here!!

It is 5-10mins walk from center there are stairs builded so it is ok. Mosquitos and loud music but nothing the host could influence.

Staff are lovely and friendly - we needed laundry doing and she took it to the laundrette for us as she said it was hard to find. About 8 mins walk to beach. Nice and peaceful. We extended a night. Really good value for money Shower isnt massively powerful but does the job.

Está relativamente cerca al pueblo principal, una comunidad local muy linda y el point para surfear. Miriam y Alessandro me facilitaron muchas cosas durante mi estadía. La subida al hotel con carro puede llegar a ser un poco tediosa dado que es empinado y la tierra muy blanda. Traer repelentes para los mosquitos o espiral los ayudará a poder dormir tranquilos.

• Liliana (9/5): Kurzer aber sehr schöner Aufenthalt - Mirian hat uns sehr spontan und herzlich empfangen. Sie hat sich sehr bemüht uns zu unterstützen und war total freundlich. Die Unterkunft bietet eine wundervolle Aussicht mit schönen Plätzen um zur Ruhe zu kommen. Besonders der Sonnenuntergang hat uns von dort total fasziniert. Der Aufstieg zur Unterkunft ist mit Gepäck aufjedenfall eine kleine Herausforderung.

• Silvana (10/5): Inolvidable experiencia - Desde que llegué a Kontiki supe que era el lugar perfecto para mí. Una habitación amplia, limpia, ligera y con una vista al mar hermosa. El trato tan cercano y personalizado de Miriam y su esposo, hacen de la estadía mucho más amena. Creo que la ubicación es ideal porque está en el centro de todo pero a la par, alejado del ruido o parlantes molestosos, ya que el hotel está elevado en una montaña. El desayuno muy rico. Tiene unas vistas privilegiadas y el sunset se ve espectacular. Recomiendo este lugar porque es ideal para desconectarse y relajarse. El camino por el que tienes que pasar para subir a Kontiki podría estar más iluminado.

• Lisa (10/5): Exceptional - Kontiki is an absolutely wonderful place! The location is stunning: perched on top of a small hill, it offers breathtaking views both from the terrace and from the spacious, private bungalows. The atmosphere is incredibly peaceful, yet just a short 2/3-minute walk down (and up) a "staircase" takes you right to the main street. This is something that doesn’t even show up on Google Maps so if you search it may seems a long way to the centre, but it's not! If you're used to moving around a bit, it's a very easy and pleasant walk. The hosts are fantastic, warm, welcoming, and helpful. Having access to a shared kitchen was a big plus. If this wasn't enough, it's also one of the cheapest accommodations in the whole area, absolutely worth it! We initially booked for a few nights and ended up extending our stay by a week. If I didn’t have to move on, I honestly wouldn’t leave. Highly recommended and I will definitely return. Thank you for a lovely stay! There’s a club in Máncora that plays loud music on some nights, but that’s nobody’s fault – certainly not Kontiki’s – and you’ll hear it no matter where you stay.
