Guest Reviews
- Mario (10/5): À recommander ! - Susan était extraordinaire
- Lizzie_17 (3/5): Nice house. Uncomfortable beds. Poor management. - The location. Good size. Good gardens. Very good light and airflow. 1.The beds are not comfortable. Especially the double beds seem.to be inclined to the top.
2. Worst of all: The very poor communication skills from cleaner/owner Susan treating me and my group with disrespect. It was totally unacceptable. After addressing concern with property Manager Ryan, cleaner Susan did not apologise, appeared emotionally dysregulated, crying for being underpaid. It was evident this lady needed some professional support. It was a shock to witness such behaviour at the start of our holiday. I never experienced anything like this in my years travelling around Australia and overseas. I did raise my concerns with the agent Ryan, who apologised but did not offer any form of compensation to restore trust and/or encourage future business.
I do not recommend this place.

- Marina (9/5): Reliably clean and welcoming in a quiet location - Susan always ensures the property is ready and comfortable with special touches such as beautiful roses and limes on the kitchen table. Although the property doesn’t have a dishwasher or internet access these are never missed. Everyday needs are always available. Reliably clean and comfortable, so happy to be a repeat visitor. Nothing
- Marina (9/5): Consistently positive welcome to comfortable, clean home - ✅ Nothing
- Linda (8/5): Overall it is a good place to stay. - It is a nice place to visit as the place is quiet and good for relax. When morning come you can hear the bird music. You can have a nice morning or evening walk. A bit far from the Philips Island ever we can get more nice foods

- Apoorva (8/5): Very warm host, great accommodation - Susan was very warm, great location and spacious Some amenities like wifi and kitchen ameni could have been added

- Marina (9/5): Home away from home near the beach - Well organised for wellbeing, functionality and comfort in an older property. Great shower. Close to the beach and shops yet in a quiet neighbourhood. Lovely helpful, friendly host. Repeat stays. Nothing
- Marina (9/5): I will return again as predictably clean and comfortable - Return visit to a clean, comfortable, considered older house. Friendly and accessible host. Enjoyable shower. Nothing
- Heidi (10/5): Cosy, relaxed and comfortable. - Cosy, relaxed and comfortable, with lots of thoughtful touches. Only short walk into Inverloch town centre. Friendly host. Nothing specific is coming to mind.
- Tara (9/5): Very good - Beautifully appointed, nice garden, helpful host. Nothing not to like
- Judith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marina (10/5): Helpful and friendly host made our stay easy - Well thought through functionality and comfortable especially given it is an old property.
Inly stayed 2 nights. Nothing
- Marina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anne (5/5): A lovely setting, but unfortunately, a disappointing experience ( see above) - A lovely little cottage set close to beach and amenities I booked Shutterbug for my 89 yo mum and my brother visiting from interstate to stay . It was our intention for others in the extended family to join them for a couple of nights. We were shocked to have the host hovering over us all over the time we arrived with our tiny caravan to augment the no of rooms, and my son, wife and 1 yo baby ( not yet walking) and after one night coming to evict us. Apparently, despite being advertised as having ‘familly rooms’ we were not able to have a child there as she didn’t have insurance for having children! And she was limited in trying to problem solve that we had our 10 ‘ baby caravan there. My 89 y o mum was very disappointed that the time away she had gifted us was cut short, as we were asked to leave. My brother stayed on with mum for the 5 nights, but she was upset that the 5 nights for her family was spoiled. From this point of view it was poor value for the $1900 she paid. We try and create good times for mum in her latter years and this was definitely a disappointing outcome.
- Jason (10/5): Perfect little night away ! - It was wonderful meeting susan!! She was down to earth and relatable and we were able to connect on a great level! The house was inviting, homely and clean and a bonus carton of fresh eggs was the cherry on top how lucky were we !! I should have booked longer :)
- Andrew (9/5): Great place for a coastal getaway - Really lovely place! So much attention to detail has been put into it. It’s very well equipped with everything for a self contained stay, short walk into town and to the beach, really comfortable, clean and homely. Susan the host is an absolute gem, so lovely and thoughtful! No wifi and poor phone reception. Nice to switch off sometimes, but basics such as messaging family, making local bookings or enquiries etc was sometimes difficult.
- Floriane (10/5): Highly recommended! - Felt very welcomed by the lovely host!! Very clean, beautiful and confortable house! Nothing
- Riddhi (10/5): A truly special home away from home - We stayed over Christmas for a couple of days with our dog. The property was spacious and clean with a homely atmosphere. The amenities were incredible and only a 5-10 min walk from all the shops. Our host, Susan, made us feel well taken care of from recommending great spots to visit, providing us with fresh eggs from her farm and produce around the house and checking in to make sure we were okay.
The level of detail and creativity around the house added a really special touch - you can tell how much love has gone into making it memorable for guests!
So very grateful for Susan and we are looking forward to coming back! Nothing
- Chantal (10/5): Fantastic host and fantastic stay - Immaculate, very comfortable, homely. The host was so inviting and made me feel so relaxed, we really got to enjoy the most out of the property. There wasn’t anything we didn’t like
- Karan (10/5): Perfect - This property is absolutely stunning—immaculate, well-maintained, and beautifully presented. Ryan was excellent with communication, and Sue was kind enough to meet us at the property to hand over the keys and show us around. The front and back yards are both gorgeous and secure, making it a perfect space for our dogs.
The kitchen was fully equipped, and the bedroom linens were pristine. I was also really impressed by the tasteful and stylish interior of the home. Everything was perfect
- Tang (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hugh (10/5): Beautiful property with a superb location. 10/10. - The property was homely, clean, very enjoyable and in a superb location - only a ~7 minute walk to the Main Street in Inverloch, and the beds were comfortable and made with clean sheets. The host also met us on arrival with the key and was extremely welcoming, warm, friendly and hospitable. We couldn’t have been more happier with our stay at Shudderbug Shack. Nothing.
- Natalie (10/5): Clean, comfortable, welcoming. - Shut up bug was the Perfect beach house for my short stay in Inverloch. As I was a solo traveller with a small pet. Shuttle bug was the best option. There is room for about six people to stay. Therefore, it’s on the expensive side for a solo traveller. Inverloch is quite limited for places to stay with pets when travelling individually.
