Guest Reviews
- Katerina (9/5): -
- Heuser (9/5): - - sehr freundliche Gastgeber
- gute Kommunikation
Danke! Alles Top
- Alexander (9/5): Cute little Homestay - Cute little Homestay with two rooms only. Friendly owners, that live next door and try their best to make your stay comfortable. Clean rooms with good aircon and good shower. Food and drinks can be ordered and the food is great. If both rooms are booked, you might hear the guests in the other room. For light sleepers it might be a bit too close to the road. However overall very good value for money!
- audrey navarro (10/5): - Tout!
- Laura (9/5): Stay here :)) - Very clean and cozy room with beautiful wood - you feel like you're in a modern tree house! :)
The shower is hot, the bed is comfy, the ac is cool, and the wifi works.
The family is LOVELY and will go out of their way to make sure you are comfy and have what you need.
They offered to set me up with an experienced driver for the safari, and they were also okay that I decided to book my own.
The fixed up their bike for me use (rent) so I could ride to the ETH and the park entrance.
The food is prepared with love and the portions are generous.
The area is quiet and peaceful - it's just this one guesthouse, with an upper and lower unit - on a garden property next to the family's home, but still feels private.
I did a lot of research before my stay and chose to stay here instead of at one of the bigger resorts because I wanted to experience the elephants in a way that felt intentional and curated (not part of a system), and give the business to a local family.
As a solo female traveler I felt very safe here. I ended up staying 4 nights when I realized I could bike to the park entrance and spend more time with the elephants.
Sri Lanka will be very memorable for many reasons, but this section of it is engrained deep in my heart, and I am deeply grateful for the space and meals provided by this family. Communication was a little challenging, and my bill was more than I expected - be sure to ask what is included (for example the free breakfast and drinking water) and what is not.
It felt a little far from the park, but maybe that's because I was biking it daily. :))
- Katharina (8/5): Very good - Really nice hosts, they were welcoming and helpful. We booked the place last minute There are a Lot of mosquitos in this area and it was really loud in the night, because someone played loud music close by
- Adrian (9/5): Superb -
- Dugald (9/5): Superb - Our family had a great night at Thought Blooming. The host family was lovely and helpful. They organised our Safari trip to the national Park with a great driver and guide. The dinner and breakfast we had were delicious. The price we paid for our food and accommodation was very very good value for what we received. Nothing.
- Gilles (10/5): Amazing place, fantastic hosts - Amazing cottage, very clean and all functional. Couldn't find a more hospitable host. Arranged taxis for us and a safari. Food was excellent, couldn't have done more. The place is a little remote but fantastic location nonetheless. Would recommend whole heartedly. Nothing
- Gabriella (9/5): Superb - Very nice, newly built villa. Great cleanliness. Owners are very helpful. Beds are a bit too hard. And food was poor.
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional - We had a perfect 2 nights at Thought Blooming, the family were so welcoming and went above and beyond to accommodate our needs, including making hoppers and papaya for breakfast, sourcing Coke Zero and producing curries without spice.
The accommodation (a 2 floor, 4 bedded house) has been recently built and sits next to their own property. It has excellent air conditioning and was always perfectly clean.
We went for the early morning safari (amazing!) and were back for a home cooked breakfast. There’s not loads to do around the area but we walked to a local ice cream store (Magic scoops), watched kids play cricket from our balcony and played games on the veranda in the evening when they brought us some cold lion beers. Incredible value for money and would recommend - also no creepy crawlies apart from a few ants an geckos!
Rooms: 5
- Bethan (10/5): A really kind family in a beautiful place - We had a great stay!! Such a wonderful, welcoming family who really looked after us and went out of their way to help us, from organising the safari to transport out of the town. The food was very yummy too. The garden and outdoor space are particularly nice.
- Sashika (10/5): Awesome time - Excellent place to be with a friendly family Loved everything
- Katharina (10/5): Exceptional - Thamidu and his family were really welcoming and supported us by organising a safari and taking us to the elephant transit home. The room was spacious and clean. We would definitely come here again!
- Lena (10/5): The place is very nice and the family hosting you very friendly and welcoming! - The place is really nice, we had the room upstairs with our own little balcony looking right into nature. The room and bath are clean and cozy and there’s a/c. The family hosting us are super nice and helpful people. The breakfast was really nice. We did a safari with them, which was also very nice and they organized everything. The place itself is a little bit outside, therefore very quiet and surrounded by nature. We really recommend the place, the family really makes you feel like being at home.
- Salila (10/5): Exceptional - I tried booking so many hotels in Udawalawe and none of them were available. Luckily i found Thought Blooming which is a calm and quiet location that serves all your expectations. The experience i had was amazing because of attentive service of the workers. Never miss this place because it worth the amount you spend.
