- Anonymous (9/5): Clean, comfortable, great location. Hosts are lovely. Really liked being able to bring my dog. -
- Sue (9/5): Would certainly book this accommodation again. Hosts were very helpful - Great set up apartment.
Spacious
Very clean and warm Only thing that irked us somewhat was the geese/duck mess outside the front door.
- Margaret (8/5): Very good - The quiet farm location
- Melissa (9/5): Lovely farm stay - Nice location on a farm, pets welcome Nothing
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- San (8/5): Very good -
- Raymond (10/5): Exceptional -
- Raeburn (9/5): Superb - Very quiet location a few km out of Clyde. The apartment was comfortable and modern. The hosts were friendly and helpful.
- Garth (10/5): A wee hidden treasure in Otago. - This is a wee gem in Alexandra. So quiet!! It was great to stay on a farm again (I'm a farm boy from way back). I loved the Highland beastie posing against the sunset on the hill behind the apartment.
The facilities are fantastic. Very clean, and obviously well maintained. I was blown away when I first walked into the apartment. Lots of goodies to nosh on.
Many thanks Lauren - I will be back. The first incline in the drive was a bit lumpy. This was only accentuated because I was carrying a tall heavy load in the back of my SUV. But I learnt quickly to slow down :)
- Hyeonah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Rosalie (9/5): Comfortable, spacious apartment in rural setting - Lovely apartment in a rural setting. Comfortable beds, spacious lounge, and great art, furniture and theming. Loved the farm animals, especially the highland cows who came to say hello! Good location for exploring Central Otago, only three minutes to Clyde, seven minutes to Alexandra and 20 minutes to Cromwell. The apartment is up a flight of stairs above the main garage and felt very private. We appreciated the woollen blankets for the cold nights! It would be great for all the lounge windows to have blinds in the future. The bathroom amenities were empty but this was minor
- Ian (1/5): I would like to contact booking.com - We were unable to stay there due to property damage. I had to find other accommodations at short notice on a very busy weekend. No fault of cariad appointment
- John (6/5): Over all it was OK for the money but we will not be return visitors - Location was fine A kitchen sink so you could was dishes and fill your jug not having to use the bathroom. It needs a big deep clean and there was a strong odour of dogs. A clean milk container would have been nice as the out side of the bottle smelt.
- Melissa (10/5): Amazing value for money - Amazing property. Very cozy and comfortable.
- Georgia (10/5): Amazing stay near Alexandra and Clyde - We absolutely loved our stay here and didn't want to leave. The apartment was so homely and had everything we needed and more. The bed was super comfy and we both had our best night sleep in 4 weeks of travelling. The terrace overlooking the fields with 2 highland cows was an added bonus. The apartment really is amazing value for money. We really wished we were staying another night! There is no sink in the kitchenette but it's really not a big deal as there is running water in the bathroom.
- Holmes (10/5): Exceptional - Brought our own with us from home. Nothing
- Dodds (7/5): Good - The cleaning was a little negative. But wad sorted right away. Host was fabulous. Had a great night
- Jane (8/5): Relaxing - Very comfortable and unique place.
- Mb (8/5): Very good -
- Donna (10/5): Fantastic stay - Absolutely loved our stay here. Great Value, lovely quiet in rural area with lovely highland cattle close by....super lovely all round. Thanks for making us feel so comfortable and welcome
- Camilla (8/5): Lovely. - The location is fabulous, we had a great sleep, and the apartment was as pictured. We enjoyed watching the animals over the fence.
- Donald (9/5): Superb -
- Jo (7/5): great country retreat, visiting sights in surrounding area its great location - the whole area available to us was great, having Harry the Jack Russell with us was superb, getting to go out and about was easy, great central point to sightsee. Cattle and other animals were lovely to have around.
hoping the reno gets done soon it will be superb. there was no kitchen sink or tea, milk, stairs were a problem for me as I am a nana with bad knees,
- Danyel (10/5): Exceptional - Place was absolutely beautiful, definitely good value for money!
- Edge (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dianne (7/5): A lovely rural residence, but with a few aspects missing. - The high points were the animals .. delightful ducks, charming cat, and friendly Highland cattle. They made our short stay memorable. The apartment was roomy, sunny, and warm. We were disappointed that there was no kitchen sink and no plumbing at all in the main living room. It was a well- lit night and the absence of blinds or curtains on most of the main room windows meant a fairly sleepless night for the person who slept there. No bedside light.
- Sharyn (9/5): Highland cow hideaway - The hosts responded promptly when I had a question.
The location was very peaceful.
Check-in and out was easy.
It was warm, cosy and clean.
I would definitely stay again and suggest it to friends. The short amount of time I stayed, I wish it was longer.
- Woodly66 (7/5): Friendly approachable host - Used all our own food, spacious living area and good size bedroom No kitchen sink or washing facility
- Deb (8/5): Very relaxed and pleasant. Very friendly cat :) - peaceful quiet location Very minor but filling jug etc would be easier with kitchen sink.
- Tracey (10/5): Can't wait to stay again for longer! - Beautifully furnished and comfortable bedding.
Welcoming hosts and great communication Wee bit of milk for a cuppa would have been nice but really was not an issue and I'm.sure of i asked the lovely hosts would have sorted for me.
- Ovidiu (9/5): Superb -
- Steve (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (10/5): Delightful accommodation with rural aspect - Very comfortable, spacious apartment. Modern bathroom, very comfortable bed with nice linen. Walk in wardrobe.
Sunny deck with comfortable seating. Delightful rural aspect
A few minutes drive to Clyde and Alexandra, good central location to visit Ophir, Cromwell and other interesting places All great
- Sreevidya (10/5): Exceptional stay! - This place is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to spend some quiet time. It was a very comfortable stay, and the views were breathtaking. We visited on a cloudy night, but on a clear night, it's a perfect place to do some star gazing. Lauren is such an amazing host, always ready to offer help! Nothing at all!
- Erica (9/5): Superb -
- Brent (10/5): A Relaxing Stopover. - It was quiet, clean and compact.
It had what we needed. Comfortable bed, nice shower and roomy lounge, tv area.
We liked the rural setting and the Highland cows theme!
We felt at ease. Nothing comes to mind for us.
- Robyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Keith (5/5): If you want a comfortable lounge, bed and nothing more it’s ok. It’s not for me. - Agree with other reviewers on the location and general appearance. There is a large lounge with a made up double bed, where a dining table should be, and a separate bedroom. The furniture is comfortable. There is a large, duck dropping covered, deck and a view of a very steep paddock with two cute highland cattle, which kept their distance.
The Genius Traveller / Smart Phone price is very good for what you get. This is not an apartment. There is no kitchen apart from some empty drawers and cupboards with a toaster, electric jug, microwave, and a French press coffee jug, (but no filter coffee). There is not kitchen sink or water. There are no cooking utensils, not even a can opener, no pots, no microwave dishes, in fact nothing in the drawers or cupboards apart from four large plates, four small plates and four large breakfast bowls.
This is a B & B without the &B.
- Jill (10/5): Fantastic. Beautiful roomy apartment. Freindly hosts. Great location. Great price. - Good facilities to make our own breakfast[
- Vanessa (9/5): Comfortable and relaxing - Loved sitting outside on the deck with a morning coffee watching the cows. Beds were comfortable and the kids loved the animals and making friends with Henry and the cat.
- Lynette (9/5): Superb -
- Megan (8/5): Very good -
- Becky (10/5): Exceptional - Absolutely loved staying here! It was so calm and tranquil. The apartment was immaculate and the animals around the properly were amazing. The highland cows were beautiful and the mischievous chickens were so much fun! The hosts were incredibly attentive and replied quickly. Even though the apartment is attached to their house it felt really private. Would love to come back and stay again. Also such a bargain! ☺️ thank you!
- Helen (8/5): Very good - Modern, clean, close to main road. Very good value. Animals were a cute touch. A tap & sink in the kitchenette would be more convenient than filling kettle & washing dishes in the bathroom, but I understand this is a work in progress.
- Kirsty (9/5): Enjoyable experience! Thank you - Comfortable, tidy, good privacy, excellent value for money and the beautiful, friendly animals made for a great experience. Very relaxing and definitely would recommend to anyone that wants to have a night away that's not in the centre of town but still close enough to be able to go into the town for a meal. Be aware the rooster crows at dawn lol!! :)
- John (3/5): Nice apartment and nice rural setting, ruined by stifling heat and no AC. Loved the cat! - The day we arrived, it was 29 Celsius and the apartment was very hot. The only cooling equipment was a Dyson fan that was effectively useless. Heat rises and this property, which is on the first floor (second floor for Americans) desperately needs proper air conditioning. We had a miserable night. Before staying at Carion we had stayed at several motels on our South Island holiday. They were far from being luxury motels, yet they all had heat pump air-conditioning.
We have a rural background and didn't mind, but many people might not appreciate the large amount of duck and hen feces around the entrance to the property.
Apart from these issues it was a nice place. And it had a wonderful friendly cat. We never saw the hosts who apeared to be absent.
- Prasanth (9/5): Wonderful one bedroom apartment for small family - The one bedroom apartment was great. Lots of privacy with good view outside to view the farm animals. They were very friendly and my son loved watching them from indoor. The dishes were cleaned for us as the kitchenette sink was not installed and we had option to leave them outside the unit and surprising they turned clean. The host mentioned there is work underway to upgrade the kitchenette. There was no potable water, which made it difficult for us on day one, however we brought some bottles from supermarkets the following day. Out advice to the host would be, for their future guest it would be nicer to provide some bottled water until the kitchenette sink is fixed.
- Johan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carolyn (9/5): Fabulous, loved the highland cows, the ducks and the dogs, plenty of parking. - Bed was comfortable and the selection of teas were nice. I took lots of photos of the Highland Cows, Henry the golden retriever burst through the ranch slider and introduced himself. Possibly pop a sign on the gate saying who you are, our navman had a bit of trouble finding the place.
- Bryan (10/5): Exceptional - Great value as the place was huge for the price! Great shower and relaxing location. Nice to see the highland cows from the deck. Only regret is I didn't book another night.
- Ting-ting (8/5): Very good - Amazing animals!
Have a friendly duck!
Stay outside whole night with us!
- Greg (9/5): Superb -
- Rachel (10/5): Brilliant! Private! Peaceful! Thank you! -
- Anna (9/5): Wish we had been staying longer! Will definitely be back! - Gorgeous and spacious apartment. Loved the decor! Bed was incredibly comfortable, best I’ve ever slept on away from home.
- Madison (10/5): Best stay so safe in our travels around the South Island! - Absolutely loved the location!!
- Ann-marie (10/5): Lauren and James were fabulous, thoughtful hosts. Had lots of added extra touches. - The owners sent me a text at 1pm, 2 hours before check in to remind me of the details and give me details about the lockbox. Nothing
- Ross (10/5): Exceptional - Plenty of space
Very clean and tidy
Quiet
There was nothing we didn't like
Facility was exceptional and the around added an extra bonus/connection with nature
- Natasha (10/5): Exceptional - Great place to stay with children. Warm and welcoming rooms with nice comfy beds, great spot to rest while travelling.
- C (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lauren (10/5): Exceptional -
- Martin (10/5): Very spacious, well appointed, and comfortable. If anything, the host undersells the place. - I was travelling for work and arrived late. The host checked in on me which was lovely. Also on arrival, the place was nice and toasty (thank you!).
Very spacious, well appointed, and comfortable. If anything, the host undersells the place. Nothing to note.
- Leanne (10/5): Brillant no complaints . Peaceful Oasis - The country feel and space within apartment
- Tim (8/5): Excellent, will be staying again. - Place was very nice, warm and comfortable. Sadly no kitchen sink due to Reno’s but that was explained and we happily made do.
- Alexis (7/5): Good -
- Shona (10/5): Alexandra apartment - This apartment was clean, tidy, quiet & private, would definitely stay again The weather was fresh once the sun went down
- Chloe (10/5): Exceptional -
- Crossley (10/5): Great stay, appreciated the lovely hosts. Great facilities in the apartment to do own cooking etc. - It was a great location, just on the outskirts of Alexandra.
Lovely hosts leaving us a heater as it was very chilly and were happy enough to message us. Nill.
- Ken (2/5): Looking forward to a night away, very disappointed - Did not stay for breakfast, too cold It was dirty and cold very disappointing.
- Ani (10/5): Exceptional - Clean and tidy apartment. Reasonably priced with the basic amenities required.
