Guest Reviews
- Andreas (10/5): Unbedingt empfehlenswert. - Das Cottage war sehr liebevoll eingerichtet und die Gastgeber waren extrem hilfsbereit und herzlich. Feels like in Heaven.

- Jodie (10/5): Unbelievable clean. And beautifully decorated could have spent months there instead of my one night - Unbelievable clean. And beautifully decorated could have spent months there instead of my one night
- yan (10/5): Lovely pleasant stay - Lovely and clean Nothing

- Samantha (9/5): A perfect getaway in a very welcoming comfortable space. - I loved the little touches that made us feel so welcome: croissants, milk, butter and jam. It was a very comfortable place to stay and it felt very private. A great location in a village I know very well. All good and nothing worth mentioning to distract from the weekend

- Catrin (10/5): Perfect overnight stop - Perfect for an overnight stay while visiting family, particularly as we have 2 large dogs and often properties will only allow 1 dog or specify that they have to be small. Everything is finished to a high standard, excellent water pressure in the shower, large towels and lots of little extras in the kitchennet were very much appreciated. The secure garden is a real bonus for the dogs as is the large field just a 2 minute walk away for the evening walk. Nothing

- Virginia (10/5): Lovely, cosy feel to the place with lots of beautiful scenery on your doorstep. - Nothing
- Robert (10/5): Fantastic stay - The property was lovely and homely and I would most definitely stay at this property again in the future There was no fault with the property
- Stuart (9/5): Superb -
- Niamh (9/5): Perfect - Perfectly appointed. Gorgeous interior design.
Comfy bed and pillows.
Very clean throughout.
Garden was fully fenced which was great for my dog.
Great value for money and would happily stay again! A kitchen dish towel would have been appreciated.
I slept very well as was so tired from all the walks but normally the brightness of the room would be an issue. The room had slats and no curtains etc.
- Lou (9/5): A great find and beautiful decor - Beautiful accommodation, even better in real life than the photos which is a rare treat! Great location, close to pub, cafes and beach, free parking and nice quiet area! What’s not to like (well, maybe the pelican picture but that’s just my irrational fear!)
- German (10/5): Beautiful place, online check in -
- Clara (10/5): Exceptional - Petite Jessamine is beautifully decorated and very cosy.
We stayed with our dog before travelling to Europe.
Communication with the host was excellent.
We are already booked to stay again on our return.
- Christopher (4/5): True representation of our stay - Garden area for dogs, lovely new bathroom, Aimee lovely host Sorry to say, but the bed was small and very uncomfortable. There was a damp smell and being part of the main house noises through the night were a little off putting. Not the fault of the hosts but the 2 places nearby for breakfast were closed. We actually stayed only for 1 night in the end. We can see how others may have a different opinion it just wasn't the right accommodation for us.
- Melvin (8/5): Very good -
- Heather (9/5): Cosy getaway - I loved the location you can walk right from the house to the cliffs. We had a lovely 2 day getaway. Loved all the little touches and decor was amazing.
- Stephen (10/5): Lovely, well equipped & appointed apartment - Super little apartment which was kitted out with everything you could need - and very thoughtful extras, milk, bottled water, tea, coffee, croissants, butter, jam. Lovely, period decor whilst still thoroughly modern. Great location. Parking in front of the main house having driven through the pay car park at the side of the church - turn right. Very little - just light very early because of only Venetian blinds at the windows rather than curtains.
- Kemp (10/5): Exceptional - The little touches were perfect - a warm fleecy blanket flung over the armchair. Cosy underfloor heating. The perfect place to relax.
- Vowden (9/5): Superb -
- Rob (10/5): Exceptional -
- Samantha (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dawn (9/5): Lovely stay in a comfy and welcoming accommodation - Lovely space for a short stay. Warm and comfy. Very nicely decorated. Nice touches like croissants and coffee. Car park next to the property. Contained garden. Nothing I didn’t like but a couple of feedback points are : loo seat not attached so got a shock when I sat on it! Bed is softer than we like, but that’s just personal preference and if you are wanting to prepare your own food there is only a microwave but these are tiny comments
- Jay (8/5): Very good - Location was great, place was very clean and tidy and the underfloor heating was lovely. No sweeping brush to clear up after ourself after a muddy walk
- James (10/5): A must stay - The bohemian, gentleman's club vibe was perfect. Extremely well appointed, kitchen and bathroom. I think the bed is only a double, and would be amazing if was a king. The duvet also seemed like a double, if the bed is a double having a king size duvet would be brill. Especially as it is colder/cooler near the window. But this would not stop us staying again.
- Donate (8/5): Very good -
- Neil (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sue (10/5): Very enjoyable comfortable stay. - Super equipped, lovely decor and very conveniently situated in the village. Pub, cafe and shop close by within walking distance. Good communication with host on accessing property. Nothing.
- Evans (9/5): Superb -
- James (10/5): Beautiful little apartment - Stunningly decorated (we’ve taken some inspiration from the bathroom for renovating our own), facilities were great, bed was comfortable, fireplace was a wonderful added touch (though we didn’t need to use it) and the enclosed garden was ideal for our dogs. Nothing :)
- Jill (10/5): Exceptional - Decor so tasteful. Welll equipt. Fantastic location. Norhing
- Jeanette (9/5): Superb - It was a lovely apartment, tastefully decorated. really comfortable.
- Stanastaite (8/5): Very good -
- Colin (9/5): Superb -
- Erik (9/5): Superb -
- Anastasia (10/5): Exceptional - Beautifully decorated and and a very clean apartment with a small garden and a private entrance.
- Fabrizio (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandrine (10/5): Exceptional - Calm and gorgeous + clean Would like to have a hairdryer
- Helen (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (10/5): Exceptional - Great location for port/a
- John (10/5): Just perfect. - A delightful place. Small but perfectly formed. Beautifully appointed down to the last detail. I loved everything.
- Jacqueline (10/5): We arrived from France and needed a sleep over before continuing our journey home to Lincolnshire. So much more and wi - Absolutely everything. I’ve stayed in 5 star hotels that did not provide the attention to detail that was provided by Aimee. When we are away we miss the little things that I have in my home. Such as USB ports and sensors for lighting in the bathroom. Well here it was all in place. Milk coffee and tea bags. Fridge already on a chilling. Coasters for cups. I could go on and on about the fabulous stay. Private Garden and parking included. We were able to connect to our own streaming services securely. There is convenience store a few minutes away. Then of course the beautiful natural area/location. Just book this accommodation to treat yourselves.
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - A beautiful cottage tucked away near the Norman church, getting in was very straightforward and we had a lovely chill stay on our road trip back to Switzerland. The village is charming and we'd happily stay here again. We had no complaints.
- Rachel (10/5): Exceptional - The small cottage was absolutely delightful - it was very cozy and homey, and had the essentials in the kitchenette for a quick coffee and tea before we headed back out. Check in and out was very easy, and the location was a perfect starting point for our road trip through the south of England. Dog-friendly, with a small part of the garden, clean - can highly recommend. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the bed - a bit too soft for our tastes, but to each their own.
- John (9/5): Would definitely be happy to stay here again. - Spotlessly clean, very comfortable ,well designed and everything we needed .Cute little garden area was a bonus. The bedroom/sitting room area was rather dark and would benefit from bedside lights .
- Christos (9/5): Superb -
- Martyna (10/5): Perfect cosy and aesthetic stay near the beach - We liked it so much we decided to stay for another night. -
- Martyna (9/5): Perfect cosy and aesthetic stay near the beach - The design and aesthetic of this place is just incredible! So cosy, especially with being able to make fire in the fireplace! Whoever designed this should be a professional interior designer. Great location if you are coming by car and dog friendly! The only place on booking were it looks better in real life than in the pictures! Just three slight things: the coffee machine was not working (it also would be good to know which coffee machine it is before doming cause we brought the wrong fill), thin walls, particularly we could hear people walking above us and were conscious about making noise ourselves, and the shower head had a weird angle.
- Carrie (10/5): A delightful place to stay, and an adorable village. We look forward to staying with you again! - The property has been beautifully furnished and decorated, the bedroom/lounge room is richly finished with wonderfully tactile fabrics and lovely wooden and leather furniture. The bedding was comfortable and was so fantastically fresh and clean smelling! I have a sensitive sense of smell, and I was delighted when snuggling in to discover how clean & fresh it smelled.
Sadly we didn’t get chance to use the woodburing stove, as we arrived late. So we look forward to using it the next time we come to stay.
Thank you so much for the fresh milk, that was a life saver as I’d forgotten to bring some and my partner would have been devastated without his tea fix! 😉
The fact we could have our dog stay with us made this property even more perfect. Her bed nestled on the floor in between the arm chairs very comfortably. The little enclosed garden was a godsend, as she was safe to use it. Only suggestion is could you have a small outdoor bin? as we did a poo pick but had no outdoor bin to put it in. Which meant leaving the Pooh bag outside.
We will definitely book here again as it was delightful and so convenient for the ferry port at Dover, less than 15 minutes drive.
Also the local pub the smugglers cove, which was a few short minutes walk away, was fantastic for dinner. It was dog friendly, and the food was superb and the staff so friendly and helpful. Only the suggestion of the outdoor bin for cleaning up after dog in garden would be useful.
Also perhaps sending an additional map to show where the entrance to the carpark is, as we managed to miss it completely and ended up in a residential car park next to it, instead of the correct one. Or perhaps include a What 3 words for the carpark entrance and then perhaps the cottage’s gate entrance? That would be very helpful. Though we did find you, so no harm done.
- Bernard (9/5): Just the job, loved it as did the dog, and Smugglers Arms very welcoming and friendly. - Location, decor, ambience
- Michael (10/5): Last minute decision to stay and was very pleased with the communication to set up the stay. - Location was perfect, spotless clean, very snug and comfortable, good communications. Couldn’t fault it. Nothing
- Daria (10/5): Quiet and cozy! Pictures are accurate. - Clean, comfortable, and cozy. Perfect for 3 people and a dog! 10 min to Dover Castle and the White Cliffs. Lovely place. Nothing
- Flipz (9/5): Superb - A well decorated, warm and cosy room in a cute little village not far from Dover. The wood fire was the nicest touch. Nothing like lighting it and kicking back on the leather chairs at the end of the day. Spotlessly clean. Fantastic hot shower, like those in plush hotels. Just what I wanted for the weekend! If you go by public transport, keep in mind that the village is small. As is common with small places, services are regular but not as frequent. Some do not run on Sundays. Check train and bus schedules ahead of your trip. There aren't an abundance of taxis either. Book ahead.
Having said that, Martin Hill train station is a couple of miles from St. Margaret's at Cliffe, a good walk on a sunny day, and the taxi journey to Dover (it was raining that day, so no walk...) was £15.
