Guest Reviews
- Guest (9/5): A very pleasant stay in an historic setting - Very comfortable bed and lovely deep bath. The choice at breakfast was excellent and the food was delicious. The historic house has been well restored and it was lovely to sit out in the garden with a drink on a warm evening. We would have preferred a buffet-style breakfast. We had to wait quite a while for everything to be served, so it would have been great to be able to help ourselves to some things, like pastries, cereal, fruit while we waited for the cooked breakfast to arrive.
- Lisa (8/5): Great location and grounds. Friendly staff. Comfortable rooms which would have been more comfortable with the minor adju - Lovely location and setting. We were staying as we were attending a family wedding blessing just a few minutes drive away from hotel. Very characterful old building with lots of charm. Our Suite was very comfortable. Great bed etc. As temperatures were 30 plus degrees the day we checked in it did make the rooms in this old building warm. There was a free standing fan in the room which with the small windows open made the room temperature pleasant enough. I do think this small boutique hotel could do with investing in a quieter free standing air conditioning appliances. When you are paying £270 for a room you’d rather have a quieter form of cooling the room. We had a Nespresso Ventura coffee machine in our room but the pods that had been left did not fit the machine as you can only buy those pods online. The ones that were left out were the cheaper ones that you can purchase in shops and were compatible with the Nespresso machines in our relatives rooms. When I went down early morning to mention it to the staff they apologised and offered to make us coffee instead. I also went to get fresh cold milk from the night porter at 7am as the miniature fresh bottled milk in our room from checkin had no means of refrigerating hence come early morning it had slightly soured with the heat. These issues were largely linked to the extreme warm weather but hotel needs to consider strategies to address these minor points.
The staff at the hotel were all very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was very good. We found our room to be very clean. I think some of the communal areas could do with some attention for example the lift doesn’t give a great first impression as it’s very dated and not in keeping with the building. As the lift door opens the gaps on the floor that allows the doors to open were quite dirty with a build up of grime. See above
- Nick (7/5): Pleasant, but overpriced - Room good. Staff all very friendly. Clearly aimed at events and not totally geared for residents. Slightly ageing feel. Shower very poor. Definitely overpriced at £200.
- Anonymous (10/5): Looking forward to returning - Breakfast was beautifully put together, catered for all diets and was exceptionally good Nothing
- Gavin (9/5): Superb - Good restaurant and breakfast Nothing not to like.
- Lukas (6/5): Poor price/quality - The room is spacious and the personnel is friendly. Food (dinner and breakfast) was subpar: dinner was either under- or over seasoned, service lacked attention, and breakfast was uninspired. Overall price/quality was low.
- Kathryn (7/5): Good - Idyllic setting in very pretty grounds. Lovely building and very comfortable room. Only have 4 or 5 rooms and when we were there they weren't all occupied so it wasn't very 'buzzy' - quite sedate actually.
- Stefan (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful hotel and garden.
Evening meal was excellent.
Staff very helpful and polite.
- Stefan (10/5): Exceptional -
- James (10/5): Staff very friendly and helpfull best ever - Lovely old mansion
- Lisa (10/5): Staff were really hospitable and friendly. They all went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. - Beautiful and clean. Very unique. Gorgeous surroundings and views.
- Stacey (10/5): Exceptional - It was a surprise for my parents and they loved every minute
- Joel (7/5): Tranquil stay in a beautiful and historic location. - Staff were all really nice. And, the location was beautiful and very tranquil. Breakfast could’ve been better quality. The shower was an electric one that wasn’t great.
- Taurai (10/5): Nice and Merry. - It was tidy and clean.Very good customer service too The windows do not open fully and the toilet took a long time to flush and make a lot of noise that you can hear other rooms flashing their toilets too.
- Chris (10/5): Outstanding, perfection in pace, taste and the space! - Everything. Such a nice relaxed place to spend time unwinding. Dinner and service were standout, delivered to perfection in pace, taste and the space. All of the staff were lovely and really friendly, nothing was too much trouble, all very relaxed, with warmth and genuine engagement. The building has been restored to a great combination of the old and the new. For a couple getaway, a party or celebration, Woodborough Hall works beautifully. Considering the high levels quality and attention to detail, for a 1 night with dinner and breakfast was outstanding value. Nothing. It was all very special.
- Donald (8/5): Charming location - enjoyable short break. - Peaceful location - lovely setting Felt room deserved a more elaborate bathroom which included both a stand up shower & Bath. Felt the fittings did not match up to the level or standard of the beautiful building.
