Guest Reviews
- Ali (1/5): If you wanna sleep outside, its good. - Nothing as I was not able to enter to the Hotel. SCAM SCAM SCAM! This hotel is a scam. We waited outside for 1.5 hours but no one came to open the door. There were also 2 other girls that were waiting also. I tried calling them on mobile and on whatsapp but to no avail. Booking really did NOTHING to help me or to contact the hotel. In fact, I'm still waiting for replies to my messages sent to the Hotel on whatsapp and booking via e-mail.
I can't believe how a scammer hotel can exist in a website that looks so safe yet, when you have a problem, all they do is go under the ground instead of helping you and charge the amount of the hotel.
DO NOT book this hotel. It's a scam and in best case you will be stuck outside but in worst case you will be stuck outside with your money withdrawn lol.
I'm still trying to contact booking for a refund but its worrying that how its so hard to contact them and get a reply. Therefore I also contacted my bank to withdraw the money that they took from me. I will pursue this matter and thinking of taking it to the trials also.
- Tamara (1/5): Awful, stay out of this, SCAM - Nothing, never got to enter the place, it's a scam I didn't like anything, nobody answered for more than two hours, never even entered the place, looked abandoned and it turned out to be that way, no compensation, no return of the money that I paid for my room well in advance, no prior notification that they would no longer be able to accommodate me. Booking didn't do much either, I had to find and pay for another place right then and there all by myself. I did get an email later on that I would be compensated ~34€ later, but given that I paid ~120€ for this place and 96€ for a new one, 34€ doesn't cover much....
- Laura (1/5): Bad - It is a scam. No one was there and did not answer the phone. I had to find a different hotel
- Zita (1/5): Bad - Avoid at all cost, they are scammers
- Phuong (1/5): Too bad - No the hotel owner is extremely bad, tourists should stay away from this hotel. we booked and paid for 3 nights, but only stayed 2 nights and were kicked out with the reason that “the hotel is closed for safety reasons”. we agreed to leave because the owner promised to refund to my account tomorrow. the amount was 28€ for 1 night. but after that we still did not receive any money. we sent a private message to the receptionist to help us check in, he said it was not his responsibility and he did not work here. i had a bad experience here, hope no other tourists have the same problem as me. what a bastard!
- Alia (1/5): Bad -
- Tomáš (7/5): How Anatoly from Chernobyl would say.. 3.6, not great not terrible :) - We were looking for an "emergency" accommodation at friday evening and it served It's purpose. The staff was excellent, really helpful, they even let us check out 2 hours later with no charge. It looked a bit better on the pictures and the bed was a bit louder, specially when trying to do boyfriend-girlfriend stuff, but okay to sleep.
- Inna (8/5): Very good -
- Catherine (7/5): Cheap, basic accommodation with an excellent location - I've stayed here before and although very basic, the rooms are fairly clean and the beds are comfy enough. The location is really good and honestly, the price is great. Noise was an issue for me - I'd suggest bringing ear plugs but maybe I just got unlucky
- Lokman (9/5): Superb - Bad is very nice Everything is good
- Zein (1/5): A Stay to Never Repeat! - I had a terrible experience at this hotel. They never cleaned my room, not even once, despite my multiple requests to the hotel manager. They didn’t even bother to change the towels. The furniture is old and falling apart, and the pillows are completely unusable for sleeping. The bedsheets and blankets were dirty.
The Wi-Fi was practically useless—I couldn’t even connect. The beds felt like something out of a prison cell. There was no hairdryer or even basic shampoo. The bathroom was filthy and outdated, and even the toilet paper was of terrible quality.
Overall, this place is a complete disaster. Avoid it at all costs!
- Alina (3/5): Poor - Reception man was very friendly 😍and the location was good Was very dirty :(no one clean there good ;(was cold 🥶
They didn’t put the soap Jair the water 💦with little soap 🧼 the bed 🛌 was so bad, the springs were sticking out
- Zizhuo (8/5): Very good -
- Urim (7/5): Good -
- Theodora (10/5): Exceptional - Very friendly staff.
- Mykhailo (1/5): Stop! Don’t go, not recommend - Nothing, it’s disgusting All is bad. Terrible experience
- Gyula (10/5): Exceptional -
- Coralie (8/5): Very good -
- Aaron (1/5): Refund please. - Nothing want back entire refund full amount! Want back refund!
- Ade (4/5): Disappointing -
- Chrisanthou (6/5): Pleasant -
- Georgia (1/5): Bad -
- Gigolaj (3/5): Great location, but would not stay there again. - The location was perfect. The city center is a 15-minute walk. Everything is close. Our Wi-Fi was terrible. I had to use data all the time because I could not join the Wi-Fi. We did not have a bathroom in the room, so we had to use the bathroom outside. This would not be an issue if we had a key, which we did not. The room was so cold. We stayed there in December, and we were freezing. When we tried to change the room, the staff kept convincing us that this was "the best" room. If you are staying over the summer it can be nice since there is a terrace, but this was useless for us since we stayed during the winter.
- Fairlane2015 (7/5): Good - Perfect location. It's a budget accommodation, don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.
- Mr. (9/5): Superb - Mostly St Stephen Cathedral, New York Cafe
- Marios (4/5): Disappointing - Very good location in the city, clean room. We had some incidents with the management staff that were inappropriate, a little uncomfortable for a couple because of a window that looks inside the building and the bed was uncomfortable.
- Mateo (1/5): Bad - Terrible Experience - Avoid This Place!
We initially booked this hotel for 2 people, but later added a 3rd person. When we made the change, we were assured it would only cost “a bit extra,” but we were never given an exact price. Upon arrival, we were shocked to find out that the charge for the 3rd person was more than what we had originally paid for 2 nights! On top of that, they demanded additional payment for “tax,” which we had to pay in cash, and despite asking for a receipt, we were never given one.
To make matters worse, we were told we couldn’t check in on time because the room wasn’t ready when we arrived. However, once we got in, it was clear they hadn’t done much—if anything—to prepare it. The room itself was awful. It felt like a jail cell—old, smelly, and depressing. The AC barely worked, and the room never got warmer than 20-21°C, even though it ran constantly. The sheets were stained, and the towels smelled terrible.
This was an absolutely horrible experience from start to finish. I would never stay here again and strongly recommend others to avoid this place at all costs!
- Yessica (8/5): Vintage building, good service - The receptionist is a very nice man. He is friendly and kind. The building is a historical place that looks really vintage. The location is perfect. The heating temperature is not high enough.
- Levente (9/5): Superb -
- Rosa (1/5): Unpleasant experience, old room and bathroom lacking hygiene and amenities - The location was great. It was a very unpleasant experience. The accommodation did not at all live up to expectations or what was advertised on the website. Contrary to what they say there was no 24 hour reception, in fact when we arrived we had to wait some time for someone to show up and we didn't see anyone there again. When we checked in, there were no bath towels ready yet, they gave us some that were still damp. We only had less than half a roll of toilet paper, which ran out after 2 or 3 uses and still hadn't been replaced by the end of the next day when we went to get our things, nor was there anyone to ask for more. The room was nothing like the photos: it was tiny, with old, damaged and creaky furniture, the sheets and pillowcases had stains and we had random bedspreads, one of them from Barbie. The bathtub had a curtain instead of a door and there was no shower gel or shampoo or hand towels, and the toilet was old and the chain was difficult to flush. Taking these conditions into account, we had to book a hotel on the same day for the remaining nights, because we did not have our minimum requirements.
- Maryna (9/5): Superb - Aparmtent is situated in nice location. Building is a piece 17th century architecture well preserved and with very interesting inside yard. Room was warm and cozy.
- Glenda (1/5): Probably the most appalling property I’ve ever stayed in I left after one night and checked into a d - No breakfast on offer When I arrive there was nobody to let me in. I had to find a Wi-Fi hotspot after an hour. Somebody got in touch with me they had been out shopping and they’ve been unable to let me in very unsatisfactory. I’m a woman in the 70s. I was tired and I was hungry.
- Banu (8/5): It was a very good deal. - The rooms are comfortable. It was well heated for me. I like the ambience as it was an old building. The best thing about the hotel is its location! You can reach many tourist attractions on foot. The Chain Bridge is so close and you can be in Buda part in minutes. Market is max. 5 min by walk and Jewish quarter is like 10-15 min. There is a metro station every near to hotel. There are occasional problems because the building is old. But they can be ignored.
- David (1/5): Nice location for a budget price. - It is a nice location The room was not properly cleaned. There was a water lick in the bathroom. The towels smell horrible.
- Ignacio (1/5): AWFUL - Good location. Good communications. Staff generates distrust.
Lack of cleanliness.
Facilities in bad condition.
Lack of attention to guests.
Ridiculous rooms (dirty, poorly equipped, windows not watertight...etc)
- Erdem (5/5): Passable -
- Ragsana (1/5): Awfull - Nothing except location Just because it is a 1 star hotel doesn't mean it can be dirty and extremely uncomfortable. The light in the room was very weak, the heating was very bad and only a thin blanket was given. We slept freezing all night. Everything was broken and torn. When we told the staff about our problem, they were very disrespectful and said that this was a 1 star hotel and that no one else had complained. We had to stay the first night, the manager said he would refund the payment for the other two nights but we haven't received any refund yet. They don't respond to our messages.
- Zaza (4/5): Disappointing - Location is good, close to the city center (600 m). Room was different as shown in pictures, it was very small and not comfortable.
We had another booking, and we were informed about cancellation 2 days before arrival, accordingly other option was expensive than before.
- Daniel (10/5): Amazing staff and great location! - Amazing staff, great location, super helpful in guiding me and accommodating requests. Can’t find any fault.
- Maria (10/5): Excellent - The building was beautiful, and the rooms were simple and very clean! They send us a message beforehand so we knew that the building was old and what to expect! We arrived late in the evening so the weather in Budapest was a bit cold, and when we got in the room it was already warm! The bed was very comfortable and the room and toilet were very clean! The staff were always friendly and cheerful! Good value for money and good location near metro and bus stop. The 100E bus also stops at the square so it was really convenient! All in all we enjoyed our stay very much here and would definitely come back!
- Hlepas (5/5): Passable -
- Halyna (6/5): We booked the room only for one night bc had a plane. Manager checked us in earlier and I’m thankful for that. The loca - Location is great for this price and the manager was very nice. Wi-Fi worked fast and sockets were in working condition. It was dirty in the room.
There were pieces of someone’s hair on the floor, on the bed.
The bed linen wasn’t clear and fresh.
Really noisy because rooms located inside of the main building and windows are all round (look at the photo).
- Shpresa (9/5): Superb - The location is fantastic -close to public transport and within walking distance of great restaurants and shops. I can't say enough about the amazing staff, they were welcoming and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. They were always avaible to answer questions and provided great local recommendations.
- Isaac (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kam (1/5): Bad - I booking double bed .give me 4 sigle bed room .no shower gel .no shampoo. No hitting. No
hair dryer .Toilet leaks. Can
hear everyone talking. 54 euro a night .so bad .don't live this apartment I don't like very much
- Matteo (5/5): Passable - Position is very good close to Metro station and other public services The room is dirty, there wasn't a toilet paper, hand soap and shower gel, the mattress uncomfortable and bed slats broken
- Даниил (8/5): Very good - I really liked the vibe of antique property as it was mentioned several times before we’ve booked this accommodation. As well, front desk was always responsive and was taking care of our late check in and of WIFI. I recommend this accomodation if you’d like to have great location to metro station, bus station, some popular sights and to save some money. Photos did not match our room. In the photo it shows double bed, but in the reality it was 2 floor beds.
- Lanjri (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect location, nice hosts

- Joel (5/5): Passable -
- Tibayre (5/5): Passable -
- Esposito (10/5): awesome place - everythink was perfect leave
- Mammadli (1/5): Bad -
- Costel (5/5): Passable -
- David (4/5): I'm going to pass. - .............nahh Lights in room were really dimmed and some bulbs were burned. Wi-Fi, was non existent. I understand it was and old building, but didn't cover the expectations. It was cheap and the staff was nice. I just won't come back. I rather pay more and be more comfortable. Wi-Fi, was non existent. I understand it was and old building, but didn't cover the expectations. It was cheap and the staff was nice
- Umar (3/5): The place stinkt. Bathroom was very dirty and the bedsheets had stained on it. Location was perfect. But the facility wa - Nothing The long stairs
- Paul (7/5): A taste of the old ways. - The hotel is unique!!!. There is no lift and the rooms are jus adequate. I dined at the restaurant opposite and the streets were paved with marble! The power for recharging was intermittent.
- Jerzy (6/5): Good location , nice stuff and good value for money - Location and the history of this old building Bed needs improvement , not comfy and base is breaking down ,
- Anti (8/5): pleasant expirience - Kind stuff, great location Place need few smal repairs on window, curtans, hooks to be perfect...
- Arina (5/5): it’s okay just to come and have a sleep for one night and that’s all. it’s really load and the walls are thick, so you c - the location was good it was not clean in the room, i even couldn’t take a shower, cause the bath was not clean at all.
- Marijana (1/5): I understood that is old building, and I expected that but on that level no. - I liked location Cleanliness, room in general ,WiFi was poor
Price was too big for that
60 euro per night and it was cheap hostel
Noise from all rooms above and under
- Αγγελική (5/5): Not even one of the best - I was served immediately on a complaint about the room and the location was excellent As good as the service I had from the host was, the room was dirty, the pillows and the mattress were not comfortable at all, resulting in almost none of our four nights getting a good night's sleep and rest
- Tomas (9/5): Superb -
- Dean (9/5): Excellent value for money - superbly located and with a very helpful and friendly manager. -
- 健锋 (1/5): Couldn't check in and couldn't use the apartment even though it was written 24 hours receptionon the app, and di -
- Adrian (7/5): Good - Good value for money Too loud you could hear people form outside
- Gaston (3/5): Poor - Bad general maintenance, window room with no glass and bad beds quality. People speaking loudly until late. Wifi never worked.
- David (1/5): Bad -
- Márk (10/5): As a local who is from Budapest, coming back for a few days, I have recieved the most geneorous and friendliest welcomin - Tidy, comfortable, good to have a rest in at the end of a long day. Perfect location for staying in Budapest, whether you come for a holiday or to work.
- Midhun (9/5): Superb -
- Joel (6/5): It was a decent value, but you need to respond to gmail and not assume that everyone uses WhatsApp. - No breakfast. I am not complaining, because I did not ask for one. The location was fine but I probably should have paid a bit more to get a more upscale place. I'm discovering that when I change the date of an accommodation, I should triple check to make sure Booking.com made the change correctly. In this case, Booking.com messed up, but I was eventually able to fix this at the accommodation. The room was clean and when I asked for a change in the blanket, it was taken care of immediately. Getting cash out of ATM is problematic and since it was obvious that I was honest, you were flexible. This is probably something I need to discuss with our credit card companies. You could a bit more lighting from building entrance to the lobby. In Korea, we use Instant Messenger and Kakao. WhatsApp, which you used to confirm our reservation does function in Korea, so if a message sent using WhatsApp is sent from your end, we probably will never see it. When I received messages via Gmail, they were either canned messages from you or from Booking.com. Eventually, I learned not to just hit the reply option, but send my response directly to your Gmail address. That is how I learned to leave the room key at the end of our trip. Joel Monkarsh, jm8257@gmail.com
- Reiterer (1/5): SCAM HOTEL - nothing SCAM HOTEL!!!! I booked the hotel but they would not let me enter to check in. I repeatedly called and rang the door for almost 1 hour but no answer. In the end i could get into the building because another person went out but the reception was empty.
booking.com is supporting these scam hotels and couldn't refund my money because they just believe the scam hotels and would repeadetly hang up the phone.
- R0ber7 (8/5): Strong value with a few rough edges (2024) - Good price, across the street from a restaurant, next to a pastry shop with coffee and indoor-outdoor seating. A lot of morning foot traffic on the block if you like people-watching.
If you call a taxi/uber, consider walking to the main street (about 200 meters) for pickup so that your driver doesn't need to come down the one-way street. It was unintuitive to know whether the outer building door was fully closed and locked. The wifi signal in my room was not consistently strong so I stepped into the lobby to use wifi. I stayed one night in September 2024.
- Roman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vincent (10/5): excellent - As independent travel journalist, sleeping in accommodations +100 time / year during 15 years, I was very surprised by the excellent price / quality rate. Excellent room, location, helpful, clean. nothing
- Gabor (10/5): Good loaction, and flexible stuff - Location ok
- Zsófia (2/5): Scam place, don't go - The location is good, it's in the centre and from there you can reach everything easily on foot or with public transport The room was different compared to the photos, it was extremely humid both in the bathroom and bedroom. The bathtub was dirty, the tap in the tub was leaking (the leaking steam was stronger than the showerhead). The toilet seat was not attached to the toilet. The contract we had to sign was shady (it was written that if you are late with the check out, they'll charge you with 20 euros/hour. Above all, there was no reception even though it was mentioned in the description (there was in fact a reception desk, but almost always empty, it was hard to reach the staff. (we had to wait 40 mins for the owner to let us in, even though it said the check in is from 15:00 till 23:30). Also, the room was dirty (full of dust and weird things under the bed, tissues and old condoms) and we had to keep the windows open and fan going so the room wouldn't become extremely humid. There was also no light on the hallway and no lamps or small lights in the room, we didn't get utensils outside of a plate, a spoon and a knife. The table was not stable and it was on its last breath. Overall we didn't feel safe, anyone could enter through the window (because it was really low). As an area, we recommend it, but be prepared to get a room that is not even close to the photos and you can find better places for the same price.
- Alex (10/5): Excellent stay in Budget Accommodation - Excellent location with few walks to all bars and Danube River vaci Fashin street. Old building but full of energy and especial atmosphere. Good budget accommodation, we loved ❤️ it
- Mark (8/5): Great good value stay in the centre of a brilliant city - Great location and price, staff helpful with a late checkin, very good shower, comfortable bed. A couple of things needed fixing in the room, ten minutes attention would do the job.
- Daiana (10/5): Exceptional - I’ve stayed here for 2 nights, the room was clean, the bed was very comfortable and the location is central, with many shops and restaurants nearby. Also the owner is really nice and helpful, would recommend!
- Mark (1/5): should be closed until stair carpet is fixed down & basic things like having lightbulbs & a bolt are - The location was about the only thing I liked. The place should be prohibited from taking clients until after safety risks are fixed. And basic updates are done such as putting some lightbulbs in bedrooms ! & a lock or bolt on the corridor door where the shower is. (I could not take a shower because anyone could go in at any time !) The place is a disaster.
I asked for a quite room, I suggested to the courtyard. I was given a room to the street with restaurants & bars & people !
The whole place smells terrible ! Heavy use of chemical air 'freshners'. (perhaps a damp problem & they try to hide it). I had to ventilate my room for 2 hours to make it a bit better. On the edge of unbearable. I assume all the courtyard rooms are worse, no external fresh air to wash away overpowering smell of air freshners.
Stair carpets. not fixed. I have photos. = dangerous !
The enttance hall is dark. The stairway is dark. My room had a light assembly for 5 lightbulbs but only had 1 lightbulb, & its light went up to the ceiling ! The room was very dark.
Mattress, very soft. Not a problem for me but many people might not like that.
Curtains. only covered 80%-85% of the windows. In the summer you will wake at 5am with the light.
Balcony. lots of pidgeon shit. Yet another indication that the management here have given up & just do not care !
Bathroom. on to a corredor. To lock or bolt to lock the door. So, I could not shower because anyone might walk in. And the shower tray was dirty.
For the wi-fi they do not have the wi-fi password visible at reception nor do they give to clients in advance. I had to get the password from the phone of the check-in person/manager. Another indication that this venue completely gave up trying some years ago.
I had a room on the second floor, it is surrounded by drying clothes & drying bedding, just draped over balcony railings. lots of it. Very unprofessional.
The bits of carpet on the stairs are loose, in places the carpet piece is half on & half off. The management do not care. DANGEROUS. An older person or a running child or anyone wearing flip flops could easily trip & fall.
- Abdelrahman (10/5): Exceptional - Very beautiful place with clean rooms. Staff are also very understanding and kind

- Myroslava (8/5): Very good - Amazing location, building and staff! There was simple, and some … vintage. But it’s not a problem for a short term stay
- Walter (1/5): The worst place to stay in Budapest. Scammers. - Nothing The place is dirty and dusty. They don't clean it ar all! With the excuse of the good location and the history of the building the owner tricks the customer showing nice pictures that have nothing to do with the reality. My mistake was to pay 440 euros for 8 days in advance trusting in booking.com after more than 8 years as a client. I don't know for what reason booking.com is tarnishing it's reputation listing such a bad place on their website. Very dissapointing!
- Екатерина (8/5): the price corresponds to the quality, near the metro - very good for the money. Location 10 out of 10, very close to the metro, good area. We were met and helped by a friendly guy. The room has its own bathroom, separate and this was very important. For such little money you shouldn't expect a super room, there is a bed, a bathroom, a towel and good. My wish was, please buy a carpet for the bathroom, the floor is slippery and wet and a bigger blanket, it was a little small for the two people. The cleaning was not the best, but ok, can be better. There is no elevator in the structure, and our suitcases were heavy, so I don’t advise taking a lot of things, but an employee helped us, thank you
- Blanka (10/5): Very nice - Very nice location, close to the liberty bridge
Historical beautiful building
Quiet and comfy
- Patrick (9/5): Perfect location, very nice historic house. - Very nice historic house, good location, all you need is just minutes away, easy to walk to.
- María (6/5): Pleasant - The location is really good and the building is beautiful. Blankets/towel didn't smell/look clean, nor the room itself. Cleaning is something to improve significantly.
- Hasan (10/5): Exceptional - Location of the place is unbelievable. It was clean and so cozy. The bed was comfortable also. And reception guy who is Ali was so helpful, kind ,sincere and heartfelt. Thanks very much him.
- Franca (7/5): Good -
- Gabija (4/5): Disaster with dirty room and unfriendly stuff - Nothing Place was dirty and in bathroom there was horrible smell and mold, stuff was rude and no sound protection in room.
- Daniele (7/5): Good -
- Köktürk (8/5): Very good -
- Trukhachov (10/5): Exceptional - Everything Nothing
- Joe (5/5): Solid budget option but wouldnt stay here with a partner lol - Budget hotel - you get what you pay for It was scorching when we were in Buda and the rooms were stifling hot with no fans or AC. Near impossible to sleep
- Wila (9/5): i loved it. i would recommend to any visitor to Budapest. that's my forever choice! - Customer relations is good. Staff made me feel comfortable. The place is clean and serene; what can you not like?
