The house has lovely Georgian features, window seats galore and very generous areas downstairs with pool table and books for guests to enjoy and terrace and lawn outside. Seeing red deer and a fox from our rooms were unexpected treats. Lorna’s vine-roasted tomatoes were a particular highlight of breakfast. Great base for exploring Camel estuary and beyond. Nothing.

• Stephanie (10/5): Exceptional, with a very warm welcome - We had a fabulous stay at Costislost House. From the moment we arrived, Lorna gave us and our labrador a very warm welcome. We felt instantly at home. The property has beautiful traditional features with two large reception rooms where you can relax, roaring open fires, and extensive grounds, perfect for dog walks. Our room was spacious and had all the facilities you could hope for, and more. Breakfast was phenomenal with so much choice, in front of an open fire. Lorna and Andre were wonderful hosts. Everything had been carefully considered to make it a perfect stay. We were sad not to stay longer and will definitely return. Exceptional value for money. The property is a couple of minutes drive away from the Pencarrow stately home and gardens which are stunning and well worth a visit. Nothing!

Wir haben im „Partridge“-Zimmer übernachtet – wunderschön eingerichtet, sehr geräumig, mit einem unglaublich bequemen Super-Kingsize-Bett und einem großen, makellos sauberen Badezimmer. Alles wirkte durchdacht und liebevoll gestaltet. Die Gemeinschaftsbereiche sind ein wahrer Genuss: ein gemütliches Wohnzimmer mit offenem Kamin, eine charmante Bibliothekslounge und ein Spielzimmer mit einem Billardtisch in voller Größe. Das Haus strahlt so viel Charakter und Wärme aus. Das Frühstück war fantastisch – eine großzügige Auswahl an Eiern nach Wunsch zubereitet, Aufschnitt, Käse, frischem Obst, Joghurt, Toast, Croissants, Schokoladenbrötchen sowie Kaffee, Tee, Orangen- und Apfelsaft. Frisch, reichhaltig und wunderschön angerichtet. Eine besondere Erwähnung verdient Lorna, die sich während unseres gesamten Aufenthalts wunderbar um uns gekümmert hat. Herzlich, aufmerksam und aufrichtig gastfreundlich – genau die Art von Gastgeberin, die eine Reise unvergesslich macht. Wenn Sie Cornwall besuchen, suchen Sie nicht weiter. Sehr empfehlenswert

• Mudzingwa (10/5): A Thoughtful Haven of Comfort and Calm - This property is a gem. So classy, so comfortable, so serene. The hosts are super hosts. They put so much thought into everything. I loved the little touches doted around the property; coffee stations, mince pies, the fluffy hot water bottles on the bed etc. We got the much needed restful sleep after a hectic holiday. Pity we couldn’t stay longer. Nothing at all.

Will have to go back in the summer to sit outside and look at the beautiful scenery. - The hosts were fabulous, the hotel was exceptionally comfortable and so well catered for, there wasn’t anything we could find wrong with it. We sat by the fire in the central room and it was lovely. It was marginally difficult to find, they need to make a bigger sign on the gate.

Amazing value for the money, breakfast second to none, fresh fruits, nice ham, nice salmon. If you are in the area, it is definitively worth the stay ! Even a small pumpkin at the door (visited in hallowen time) genuinely has nothing to dislike about the place nor the service.

Our dog had an even warmer welcome and he very much appreciated the strategically placed treats and toys. Our room was lovely with such a gorgeous view, comfortable bed and beautiful bed linen. Hot drink stations around the house as well as in room. We made good use of the lounge, reading our books by the fire, and also the games room. Breakfast was amazing, beautifully cooked and presented. Being able to use the microwave in the dining room to heat something in the evening was a boon as we didn’t want to eat out every evening Can’t think of anything, it was all a joy
• Rebecca (9/5): Wonderful stay with our teenage children, we would love to visit again. - Beautiful family home, perfectly set up and organised for families with a games room, lounge area and acres of outdoor space. The bedrooms were spacious, clean and well equipped with comfortable mattresses and bedding. We especially appreciated the additional provisions - coffee machines and capsules, a huge choice of tea bags and fresh milk, biscuits and crisps. Breakfast was absolutely superb - plenty of choice, lovely fresh fruit, fabulously cooked and presented hot options. We found Lorna and Andre to be welcoming, accommodating and really friendly and helpful. We would love to bring our teenage children to stay again. Absolutely nothing!

The breakfast was excellent all cooked fresh and cooked perfectly. Would definitely rebook in the summer so you can sit out in the gardens. Just a little heads up this house is a graded building it's quirky and has a lot of original features which alone makes it a unique hotel, so if this appeals to you, you ll love your stay. saying that all of the facilities in the room work, the shower in our room was great. And the bed was really comfy. Hard not to find fault with anything really. Keep doing what you do Lorna and Andre, the little touches that you do make all the difference. ***** Nothing
• Matthias (10/5): Diese Unterkunft ist ein Must Visit! - Im Dunkeln zwar etwas schwierig zu finden, aber eine der schönsten Unterkünfte, die ich je besucht habe. In jeder Ecke gibt es Getränke und Kleinigkeiten für einen erholsamen Aufenthalt und das nicht nur für die Menschen, sondern auch für 4-Beiner. Wir kamen abends um 20.00 Uhr und sofort wurde gefragt, ob sie den Kamin im Spielzimmer anmachen sollten und ob wir dort noch ein wenig Billard etc spielen möchten. Die Zimmer sind riesig. Das Bad ebenso, welches mit großen fenstern zum Garten ausgestattet sind. Dies ist evtl der einzige Kritikpunkt, denn es gab keinen Blickschutz. Also falls draußen jemand im Garten/Terrassenbereich sich aufhält und nach oben blickt, könnte man gut gesehen werden. Zum Frühstück gab es zusätzlich noch eine Auswahl an Wurst, Käse und verschiedenen Broten.

You could not get a better welcome from family!!! Rooms are huge, bathrooms spotless, beds you could sleep in for a month. Breakfast was amazing and the property shouts charm, characture and history - with masses of parking too. Cant wait to go back with family & friends. Leaving!! and the fact we couldnt stay longer!!

A beautiful peaceful rural location within easy reach of Wadebridge and the stunning Cornish coast. The house itself offers spacious rooms in which to relax with stunning views over the garden and surrounding countryside. Lorna and Andre are the perfect hosts with nothing too much trouble. So many thoughtful touches that made our stay so comfortable. A fabulous selection of buffet breakfast followed by an extensive cooked menu to choose from, freshly made to order. Nothing!

Super comfortable beds, bed linen, bath robes, various strengths of coffees, varieties of tea etc Remote location, whilst offering peace and tranquility, did not allow us to walk to pubs and restaurants in the evenings - a necessity as establishment does not offer any food other than (a splendid) breakfast. Wi-fi a bit flaky but that shouldn’t detract from a 5* review

I had their Eggs Benedict - on both mornings I was there as it was so good! Hosts very friendly and the location is incredibly quiet, with easy access to Wadebridge. The property is an older building and has huge rooms, which are fitted out in keeping with the property's style and character. Very comfortable bed. I really enjoyed my stay there. Nothing.

Excellent breakfast - couldn't fault it, and loads of nice complementary 'extras' in our room and lounge we areas - not least an amazing dog hamper ! Overall a really pleasurable stay and excellent value. Honestly can't think of anything

Breakfast was exceptional. Highly recommended. Nothing. But to help others, it is a little tricky to find. If you use what2words, whilst the one provided is correct for the property, your satnav takes you down the neighboring farm track by mistake. Try reefs.amicably.ladders instead which will take you to the correct lane access (through a white gate) down to the property

• Philippa (10/5): Comfortable, characterful and welcoming - This is probably the best B&B we've ever stayed at in England! It far exceeded our expectations. It is a spacious and characterful country house with friendly and generous hosts. Our bedroom was spacious, beautifully furnished and the super-king bed very comfortable. The bathroom had robes (and far more towels than we needed) and a quirky antique toilet!! Breakfast was fantastic and there are tea/coffee stations in the public rooms as well as a kettle and coffee pod machine in the bedroom. (Free pastries too!) And the extra pleasant surprise was a big games room with a pool table, chess, backgammon, Scrabble etc. We came back from our walks early to relax and play games! In an ideal world I'd have loved a swimming pool, but then no doubt the price would go up!

• derek (9/5): I would not hesitate on returning. - Fabulous old house with plenty of character. Great hosts. Breakfast extremely good. A very large bedroom with a massive bathroom. The only thing I would suggest is for a decent size wardrobe. Lacking in hanging space.

• petra (10/5): Absolutely chilled luxury - Oh absolutely everything,the most beautiful house we have stayed in,fab room,gorgeous big bed,stunning garden,games room,coffee and tea stations dotted around,very dog friendly .Andre very helpful,not met Lorna yet or had breakfast but I’m sure they would be absolutely glorious. That we haven’t booked for more nights !
• howard (10/5): Costislost House: a peaceful retreat - Costilost House is a rare find. I had the pleasure of staying there in August '25. The hosts are a delight and nothing is too much trouble. The house is off the "beaten track" and if the beach is not important for you then its location is perfect for Polzeath, Padstow and exploring the Cornish coast, notwithstanding Cornish roads! The house itself has elegant charm, and has beautiful touches in keeping with the period of the house. The rooms (my room) was spacious and comfortable, the bed especially so. The breakfast was excellent: full English or continental style. The house despite its age had strong WiFi and hot showers, my room had a bath! If you are looking for a peaceful retreat, a base from which you can explore Cornwall, then Costislost House might be your solution, far from the madding crowd! No, everything fine...

• Kate (10/5): Fabulous ..a hidden gem 😊 - A hidden gem! Thank you Lorna & Andre. Such a tranquil setting just 15-20 mins from Padstow/Polzeath & beaches. My dog & I were given such a warm welcome, she even had a box of toys & treats in our room! Our room was huge, but cosy, very comfy super king size bed and enormous en-suite bathroom. Fabulous breakfast selection (the best pain au chocolat) and delicious cooked breakfast set me up for our days out! Nothing was too much trouble ..we’ll be back 😊
• Keith (8/5): An enjoyable stay with pleasant hosts at an old Cornish country house. - Lorna and Andre were very welcoming hosts throughout the stay. The room size and bathroom were very large and the super king-sized bed was very comfortable. It was a very peaceful scenic location. The house furnishings are in keeping with the period of the house. The breakfast was particularly good. Directions to the drive entrance need to be more explicit despite sat nav , 3 words etc. Reference to convenient road signs at the initial turn off would be very helpful.

Beautiful country house in a fantastic location in the countryside which is still convenient for Padstow, Polzeath, Harlyn, Bodmin, Constantine Bay etc. Large bedroom and very large en suite. Lovely Continental and cooked breakfast in breakfast room overlooking the lawn. The best English/Cornish cooked breakfast I have had in many years! Very dog-friendly as well - our spaniel loved his stay. Nothing really could be improved with the stay.

• Graham (10/5): A great stay, 20 minutes drive to beaches, everything you need from a guest house - The hosts were really friendly, bed was comfortable, fabulous room, breakfast was lovely, everything was just perfect. Our dogs were very welcome too

• Schmitz (10/5): Fantastische plek, de beste van Cornwall - Alles is geweldig aan deze plek; de locatie, het ontbijt, de omgeving, het huis, en zeker ook de gastheer en -vrouw, André en Lorna. We kunnen niet wachten om nog een keer te komen en verheugen ons op de winter, met haardvuur en lekkere koffie.
