Guest Reviews
- Elaine (10/5): I’m feeling home - I love this house have everything I need
- Abbott (10/5): A comfortable, family-friendly stay in a peaceful location with thoughtful touches and excellent facilities. - The property was excellent and had everything we needed for a comfortable family stay. The beds were really comfy, the kids loved the games and outdoor space, and it was great having a quiet, secluded garden where they could stretch their legs safely. We really appreciated the thoughtful extras such as crisps, drinks, condiments and other supplies available with the optional charity donation. Communication was easy throughout, the facilities were great, and the TV and entertainment options suited us perfectly. The location was ideal for visiting Longleat Safari Park, only around 30 minutes away. Nothing significant at all. We had a really enjoyable stay and were very happy with the property.

- Susannah (8/5): Fantastic for a family or group who want space and comfort. If you like modern you won’t like it! - Lovely historic house with lots of character. The owners were very responsive and put the heating on ahead of a very late arrival. Loads of space with comfortable beds and sofa. Safe off road parking. I am sure the garden would be lovely in summer. Carpet in the upstairs bathroom had an odour
- david (1/5): Terrible experience - The location and that's it! The property was dirty,it had hair on the bathtub, all the towels except 1 was dirty.Worse still was 2 of the bedrooms had white sheets that were stained badly but had small black curly hairs on the bedding plus a blue pillow had white stains on it too,all in all it was for me as bad as it gets.
- Elaine (10/5): Welcome home - Nice big space
- Leanne (10/5): Pleasant historic building with modern convenience - The age and Englishness of the building Nothing
- Kristie (8/5): Hosts were responsive and it was a late booking and check in so it was appreciated. - Great charm, heaps of room.
- Ian (8/5): -
- Alan (5/5): Unpleasant - Location. The property was not clean. Black mould in the shower, slimey remnants of soap in the soap holder. Dirty marks on the walls. Everything stuck to the coffee table, coasters were sticky. The bedding had obviously not been ironed as it was incredibly creased. No stool at the dressing table. Cobwebs. Smelled musty. Milk frother wand was crusty.
- Alex (10/5): A lovely period property with so much charm. - The property has so much charm and lots of space. Everything was very clean and it was lovely and quiet. Would highly recommend. Nothing.
- Rachel (10/5): This was an incredible place to stay. Already looked at booking it again, but sadly already booked for the dates we want - The house is stunning!! Photos don’t do it justice. Stained glass windows were fabulous and there’s loads of space. Needed to buy a jug and the mixing bowl was broken before we arrived.
- Kim (6/5): - Space Very dated, worn out
- James (10/5): - Lots of room, especially for the price - we stayed en route from Stonehenge to Bath, location was perfect!

- Lynn (9/5): Old Style house - Great location for our wedding, close to places we wanted to visit garden was beautiful. Cosy rooms and lovely kitchen Toilet I upstairs bathroom struggled to pull chain, mat and dish clothes needed to be washed or thrown away - crisps & pop for sale lovely idea but with children they help themselves I know it was for charity but hard to track!
- Gordon (8/5): We really enjoyed our stay and hope to come back. - Location was excellent. Very pretty area, short walk to Trowbridge and 2 mins from general amenities.
Loved the house and garden, especially the windows and all the original features. The washing up sponges were dirty. There were no decent tea towels and no dish cloths or kitchen cleaner to wipe the worktops. There was no microwave cover. These things are easily rectified.
- Stringer (8/5): Very good -
- Cristina (7/5): Good value for money - The location The house is dusty. And the carpet was also dusty
- Sue (7/5): Good - Perfect location for visiting our friends. Lovely old building full of character with a cottage garden offering a choice of places to relax. Very reasonable price. Other guests’ food and toiletries were still in the freezer and bathrooms but this is also good for avoiding waste. TV was difficult to work out: instructions would have been appreciated.
- Vanessa (9/5): Beautiful property - The house is absolutely beautiful. It was clean v and the snacks were a lovely thought. Thank you. Nothing, it was a lovely place.
- Carrington (8/5): Ideal and full of character - The space and easy of this place is a dream ITs a bit dated and ruff around the edges but for me as I have small children this is great as it means I dont have to be precious about anything and everyone can just enjoy the space.
- Martin (7/5): Good -
- Karen (9/5): Great Stay - Loved the lodge. very comfortable and spacious. lovely area, Amenities close by. Would love to stay again, we all enjoyed it very much. plus great communication throughout. nothing

- Julian (9/5): An ideal location for a short break with a family. - Excellent communication from the host. The property description was accurate. Good parking facilities and an easy walk into town where there are many bars and restaurants. The dishwasher wasn't working, but everything else as described.

- Shakespeare (8/5): Very good -
- Gideon (9/5): Superb -
- Adam (9/5): Superb -
- Wilson (7/5): Good - The heating Floors in the downstairs bathroom, entrance hall, and kitchen very oily and slippery, lots of cobwebs, and nothing mentioned about paying for food and drinks that where left out on the side and in the fridge that I could see. But it was fine for 1 nights stay.
- Alan (8/5): Very good -
- Francis (10/5): Exceptional -
- Carrington (10/5): Beautiful House - The house is utterly beautiful and having the option of the garden for the children was great, please keep the trampoline.
Nice spaces inside the house and having downstairs toilet facilities was handy.
Had all the basics we needed and the children loved all the stained glass.
Plenty of parking and easy to find, walking distance from town. The good far outweigh the bad, the road is rather busy and the swings were not pinned down, having clearer instructions for things like the checkout process, clearing spaces etc and a broom would be handy to just ensure we could leave it clean.
- Brian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Well located, fairly easy to tind Low doorway to upstairs bathroom
- Ryan (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely house with lots of character, nice comfy beds.had everything we needed for our stay. If I ever venture to Trowbridge again I will hopefully be staying here Don't have any complaints at all.
- Melanie (7/5): Clean, adequate presented property, good location. - Location of property and value for money were main reasons for selection of property.
The property had most of the required basics for a 1 night stay close to Bath. The property was tricky to find in the dark (4.30pm ish in November) as the house sign was not immeditaely visible or lit.
There were no instructions for the heating system.
The main issue for all 3 guests were the bed pillows. Two rooms had very flat pillows and 1 room had very firm (uncomfortable) pillows.
- Sheila (7/5): Good - Arrival and departure times. Privacy. Location. Quirkiness. Ease of access. Not very well equipped kitchen. Only 3 wine glasses for 6 of us. Only 5 soft chairs. No curtains or blinds in some rooms.
- Lily (7/5): Good -
- Horst (10/5): Wonderful - Wonderful period house
- Francoise (8/5): Pleasant house. Lots of space. - The comfortable sitting room. The practical dining room. The 4 double bedrooms. Not enough light in the kitchen to be comfortable preparing meals in the evening.
- David (9/5): A unique, charming and roomy cottage with easy access to central Trowbridge. Ideal for families. - The property is historic and unique and was easy to locate. We only had a brief stay, but everything we need was there and it was a nice change from the bustle of London. Convenient parking and easy access to the Trowbridge town centre. We would stay again and loved the period details and room for the whole family. No issues encountered, the property matches expectations as listed.
- Christian (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (9/5): Superb -
- Charles (4/5): In desperate need of attention everywhere. - Smells musty throughout. Pots not clean, carpets threadbare, lacking attention in every room. Could be a fantastic place but needs considerable effort. A work colleague came round in the morning and described it as worse than awful.
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dionne (9/5): The property was perfect for our needs, clean, private and spacious -
- Liam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Duncan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gemma (10/5): Fab nights stay!! - We stayed at this house for one night, loved the house it was lovely. Very spacious, shower was lovely especially all the little touches like towels and toiletries as I did forget to bring towels. The garden was lovely for the children to play in and was nice and big. As people mentioned that it smelt a bit upon entering we didn’t smell anything. The bed was comfy and my boys want to come back again. Nothing
- Victoria (8/5): Fantastic price for an overnight stay - The children especially liked the trampoline in the garden and enjoyed a long time playing in the safe enclosed garden
- Jones (10/5): Pleasant stay good communication from owner would come again for a longer stay - Beautiful historic house and garden had everything you would need had I have brought my grandchildren there was plenty to keep them happy swings seesaw trampoline and large garden. The house is equipped with everything you would need for a pleasant stay Loved it all no complaints from me
- Gary (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect for a family to stay in and great value for money
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional - Loved this house, loads of space and lots of nooks and crannies to explore, our grandson loved exploring the enclosed garden Nothing
- Nicole (10/5): Trowbridge lodge - The stunning venue.
Beautiful home, comfortable sleep, perfect stay. The cleanliness of oven.
- Julie (9/5): Great value for money, quirky enjoyable stay. - So lovely to stay in such an historic building. Would definitely book again. Host super helpful and responsive. Dated but actually added to the charm
- Susan (8/5): Lovely stay with family, trampoline in garden a bonus for the grandchildren - Lovely gardens, spacious accommodations Proximity to main road
- Jane (8/5): We really enjoyed it and would return - Location and beds were perfect
The lodge felt homely and the garden was kid friendly and safe Kitchen utensils need more
Only 4 forks not enough for a family of 8
- Paul (8/5): Memories were made, was a quaint old lodge recommend - Was a lovely old looking lodge, the place was amazing for the girls, even has a Harry Potter space under the stairs which amused them. Trampoline in the garden was a really big hit with the grandchildren Nothing
- Neil (8/5): A nice property with a friendly owner that suited our needs at a reasonable price. - The cottage was spacious and had character. It fulfilled all our needs We were only given two towels between three of us and would have been nice to have more. Personal preference but I found the pillows quite hard.
- Sue (10/5): Excellent stay. Just loved the house and gardens. - The house, I would think is old (probably listed) so obviously when you walked in it did have a bit of foisty smell. But that soon disappeared. But it was comfortable and a lovely place to stay. Had some nice walks around area. But one thing - no hairdryer. Lovely shower. One of the nicest I've used and easy to set up. Hairdryer wasn't available. Nothing really. It is an old property. But probably on a H & S issue. Around the little pond we're about 6 metal prongs protruding from the ground. Could be very dangerous if children running about or my anyone really. Probably worth removing. And we couldnt get hob to work, and we followed instructions. Maybe worth looking at.
- Katrina (9/5): Superb - Place was lovely, clean and comfortable
