Being on the 3rd floor, I was struggling with my luggage โ but the staff stepped in without even being asked and helped me all the way to my room. They even helped me unlock my bag without causing any damage.
Their kindness and helpful nature made me feel safe and cared for in a completely new place. The atmosphere was calm, welcoming, and filled with good energy. For someone traveling solo for the first time, it truly felt like home.
Thank you for everything โ Iโll surely choose Travelers Hostel again whenever Iโm back in Guwahati! ๐

- Giba (8/5): I really liked my stay and it was super convenient for me. - The location is great if you have work or if you have train to catch in Paltan bazar. Those who are first timer and type Paltan police station and it will take only 5-10 minutes walk and you are near the train station. The staff were friendly and helpful. Just little more clean.
- Sourav (9/5): Superb - Almost everything is good here
- Krishna (8/5): Very good -
- Jainendra (8/5): Very good - Travelers hotel at a good location not any problem for finding this. Hotel Staff behaviour is very good and every facility is available in the hotel.
- Vatsala (1/5): Bad - Our experience at this property was incredibly frustrating. We had booked private rooms in advance, but upon arrival, we were given dormitory-style accommodations insteadโno privacy and uncomfortable. To make matters worse, we were charged the same price as the private rooms, which felt completely unfair.
To make matters worse, the bathrooms were under construction and a complete mess. There was dust and debris everywhere, and the facilities were unusable. It felt like the place was still in the middle of renovation, yet we were never informed about this beforehand.
When we raised the issue with the staff, they were dismissive and unhelpful, offering no solution or explanation for the mix-up. The dorms themselves were basic, with no amenities, and the overall experience was far from what we had expected or paid for.
This was a clear case of false advertising, and I would strongly advise others to avoid this place if you're looking for a reliable and honest stay. Definitely not worth the price.
- Das (7/5): A nice place.in Guwahati. - friendly staff..centrally located place. no restaurant.
bunk beds.
- Viramani (9/5): Superb - Courteous staff , especially Mr Gagan Das at reception was very helpful. Lift not working, had to climb 3 floors with luggage.
- Gaurav (6/5): Pleasant -
- Joel (10/5): Exceptional - Extremely dedicated staff will go out if their way to help traveller's. Front desk Mr. Gagan das and exceptional person ๐
- Vikrockzer (5/5): Passable -
- Kay (10/5): Comfortable, clean & hot water! - A very comfortable, clean room and a fabulous hot water shower! The beds are huge and there are drawers, dressing table and wardrobe. Towels and complementary water bottles provided.
Very helpful staff who could advise on safaris, orchid farm/cultural show and help with onward travel. The hotel has their own jeep so organising a safari last minute was no problem.
Great location only a short walk from where the bus from Guwahati drops you and therefore very close to main safari gates. Everything was great
- Kay (7/5): Potential to be great - The staff here go above and beyond to help and this is what really makes this place great. Rex spent ages helping me plan my whole trip round the North East and Singthoi let me wash my clothes and as I only had a few hours before my bus, even made me a make-shift drying room - this was hugely appreciated! Thank you!
The location is brilliant in terms of travel connections and a large supermarket/clothes store very close by which was useful! It is a walkable distance to the riverfront where you can visit the temples/gardens etc.
Dorms are very clean and bedding is fresh. There is a common area with tables and chairs where you can sit and eat
This hostel has huge potential to be a great! (It's relatively new and also under new management) they are open to constructive feedback to help them improve.
Please don't be put off by the negatives I have written below as my stay was lovely and I even went back to stay a second time! The washrooms and showers need updating. The sink is really disgusting and the fact that pots are being washed and dirty floor water emptied in the same place you are brushing your teeth and washing hands/face etc isn't pleasant.
The showers need to be cleaned better as there are leftover shampoo packets and razorblades left in the big room. It also isn't so private for females (I know you are working to change this!). Please also consider adding more hooks and a mirror in the dorm rooms.
It would also be good to have toilet paper, although this seems to not be available in any hotel/hostel in the north east for some reason.
There are no lockers available so you need to carry all valuables with you. If you aren't sharing with a stranger you could put a padlock on the door to the room though.
I know the bathrooms are on the list for updating by the management so this will improve the overall feel hugely.
- Deepali (5/5): Passable - location was good the toilet were very dirty.
- Arun (9/5): Superb - I wholeheartedly recommend Travellers Hostel in Guwahati! Here's why:
1. *Ideal location*: Perfectly situated for easy access.
2. *Budget-friendly*: A welcome relief from the overpriced guesthouses in Paltan Bazar, making it an excellent choice for students and budget travelers.
3. *Exceptional hospitality*: The hosts, Mr. Gagan Das and Udit Das, are incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful. They went above and beyond, waiting for my late-night arrival and assisting with my luggage.
4. *Cleanliness*: The bed linen and bathroom were impeccably clean.
5. *Thoughtful touches*: As a Buddhist, I appreciated the beautiful 8 auspicious symbols curtain on the door.
I wish Travellers Hostel continued success and hope they maintain their excellent standards. Highly recommended! There is nothing about Travellers Hostel that I don't like. One recommendation though, they should add water heating system available in the hostel for winters.
- Pimparade (10/5): Best for everyone - Clean and friendly staff and also No's of toilets blocks there. Every thing is ok.... But lift is must. Required lift
