Guest Reviews
- karen (10/5): Lovely stay at Hillside Cottage - We had a lovely 4 night stay at Hillside cottage. Everything
you needed was available. Everyone was friendly even Jet the welcoming dog. Very comfortable & warm. Ideally situated between Wrexham & Whitchurch. Many thanks ☺️

- Catherine (9/5): Fantastic to stay on a working dairy farm. - It is wonderful to be on a working dairy farm and watching the cows come in for milking and the calves feeding. The farm dog is adorable. the view from the bedroom is captivating. . My daughter was on crutches and spent one day in bed resting to allow her foot to heal. She loved just watching the farm activities from two windows who gave her views in varying directions. A superb place to be confined to bed. Better than TV!
It was high summer while we were there and flies were plentiful - its normal on a farm. We are country people and fine with countryside insects. The location is excellent, near an abundance of places of outstanding beauty, history and tourist attractions. I was attending the exciting National Eisteddfod in Wrexham. I appreciated coming home to the peace and quiet of the farm after a day with the crowds at the cultural festival;.
Zoe and John are good hosts and do their best to ensure everyone is happy. It was a special treat to stay on a real working farm. My only complaint is that its against the law for the farmers to sell or give their guests fresh milk - Zoe said she'd she be shot! Arla keeps strict control of all milk given by the cows. So we had to drive to Whitchurch and buy milk from a shop which comes in plastic. In my opinion the rules that farmers have to follow are insane and an insult to the sovereignty of the farmers. Just my opinion. 1. I didn't like the regulations which the farmers have to operate under. . I'd like it to be legal to buy milk direct from the dairy farmer.
2. fewer flies. A stay in spring or winter months would solve that!
3. Better saucepans. the non stick coating was scratched by previous guests. Eating micro bits of teflon is not healthy.
- Ken (1/5): Very disappointed that toilet did not work and could not get any help to remedy the situation. We had to leave and find - The property was clean and instructions to get to it were easy to follow. Host was easy to contact prior to the visit The only toilet did not work. When we contacted the host about it we found out the host was out of the country and were slow to respond. When they did respond they were not able to address the issue as they were out of the country. We had to leave to find other accommodations.
They did not refer me to their 3rd party booking agent (cottages.com). When I asked for a refund they then then referred me to booking agent but the booking agent refuses to do so since they weee not contacted while we were there. (Even though I was talking directly to the owner)
Also beware in warm weather. This is at a farm so if you open the windows lots of flies come into the house. House was very warm but could not open windows.
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the location, and being on a working farm, it was very peaceful and cosy , loved it, would definitely come again
- Mark (10/5): Convienient for glassblowing experience. - Very close to a glassblowing experience I had booked for my wife. Great place to stay, had everything you could need and was very quiet. Absolutely nothing.

- Martin_forster (9/5): Very comfortable cosy well equipped little cottage in lovely rural farm setting. - The bed & linen was very comfortable. Bathroom plentiful hot water with both bath and shower with good water pressure TV reception on BBC1 / 2 was flaky. Remote was tempremental
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - clean & cosy n/a
- Pam (10/5): Hillside Cottage, Shropshire - top marks - Lovely, quiet location on,a working farm. The cottage was well equipped, comfortable, cosy and thoughtfully furnished. Beds were super comfortable and the shower lovely. And we had a lovely welcome basket from the owners, who had also thoughtfully put a pint of milk in the fridge, plus a selection of coffee and tea sachets.
For us, who were here for the weekend taking part in a triathlon, the lockable outside store was a great bonus.
Will definitely recommend. Nothing whatsoever to complain about. There are no shops or amenities within walking distance, but we knew that at the time of booking and it was not a problem for us.
- Kate (9/5): Superb - Great location for visiting family nearby. The cottage was comfortable and spotlessly clean!
