Guest Reviews
- Niamh (3/5): -
- Faisal (10/5): - All was well. 5 mins to the station. Lovely neighbours. All good.
- Josiah (1/5): Terrible Service, Dirty Sheets, Smell of Smoke & Weed - Nothing, just nothing! First, you have to sign an additional form and agreement and submit a driving licence or a passport before the keys or instructions are given to you. If you don't trust Booking.com's process, why do you advertise on it? Still didn't get a response after submitting and agreeing to additional terms and conditions
Second, I couldn't get the key on arrival. I sent several messages and calls, it was a taxi company that answered the phone instead of the direct contact, it was difficult to locate who.
Thirdly, when I finally got the instructions, I was unable to locate the room, as it was completely on the street and no privacy if you are looking for one.
Photos on the page are old, the toilet and kitchen were looking terribly awful, the bed sheets have not been washed for a while, and the room smells of smoke & weed. It was an awful experience. I had to leave for a different location without informing them because that would not fix the situation within the time frame. TERRIBLE SERVICE!!
- Alec (7/5): - Location was good Room smelled musty not been aired, bed uncomfortable
- Chelsea (4/5): Could do with a bit more tlc and soundproofing - The shower was lovely The deep cracks in the ceiling were concerning, the main entrance door to the 2 flats could be more secure with a bolt lock inside and a key to open on the outside for night times, there was lots of schizophrenia tablets stored under the mattress, burns in the towels, holes in the bedding, the coffee cups and cutlery were dirty and no pots and pans to use in the kitchen. Didn’t appreciate the brothel noise coming from the flat opposite.
- Greenwood (8/5): -
- Thili (1/5): Avoid this place . Place is absolutely filthy - Upon entering the property, it was immediately clear that the accommodation had not been properly cleaned. The entire place had a strong smell of cigarette smoke, the bedding had not been washed, and the toilets were in an unhygienic condition with an unbearable stench.
In addition, the retained smell of smoke and cannabis was so overwhelming that it was difficult to breathe. There was no evidence of any infection control standards being met. Due to these unacceptable conditions, I had no choice but to leave the property straight away and arrange alternative accommodation at the last minute, incurring additional costs.
This situation is absolutely unfair to customers.
- Michelle (9/5): -
- Christopher (9/5): Excellent will definitely stay again if the mattress is changed loved it thank you very much for your hospitality - All good very clean and spacious very good value for the money The mattress needs changing as it was very uncomfortable lumps and bumps all over it other than that it was fantastic apartment

- Robert (2/5): Very Disappointed, Probably the Worst Place I have Stayed with Booking.com - Getting into the property was easy and good instructions were sent prior to arrival. The area was in a good reach to Stockton and the Thornaby train station. Good TV and a decent sized fridge freezer. The shower was a positive point. Unfortunately the property had a lot of issues.
Firstly upon arrival the flat was very cold, the heating hadn't been pre set.
Secondly the kitchen was very bare, no washing up liquid, no tea towel and the kettle was broken (leaking water from the bottom).
Thirdly the bed did not look like it had clean sheets on, the pillow cases were not on properly- there was no care taken in making the bed- it actually looked like someone had used the apartment before our arrival and no cleaning had taken place in between.
Finally, the toilet was not cleaned prior to our arrival, and all the towels were left in the cupboard to find, and all of them had hairs all over and were clearly not cleaned and ready for our arrival.
- Jess (6/5): -
- Eugene (4/5): - It looked like a very nice apartment close to the train station even though it seemed to be in an area for car repairs. 1. No TV remote 2. Smoke detector removed from bedroom and placed in kitchen cabinet. 3. Broken hinge on cabinet door. 4 the main problem was the heater in the living area would not work. I was forced to stay in the bedroom the entire time. Also no instructions on how to use heaters. Had to look online.
- Thomas (10/5): -
- Chukwujekwu Emmanuel (5/5): Peaceful and safe - Comfy Bed should be changed
- Festus (10/5): -
- Jay (3/5): Cheap in price cheap in details. - Easy to find, booking confirmation and key code sent day of arrival in plenty of time. So £60 a night i was expecting 5star but this was very disappointing so much we left at 4.15am as we couldn't take them smell of cigarettes nor the bag of springs for a Mattress.
As soon as you open the door your hit with a strong smell of stale cigarette smoke throughout the whole apartment.
No microwave or kitchen equipment there is oddly a cooker though however this could do with a clean
The kitchen floor has what looked to be bits of food left on the floor in big crumbs.
The couch is of very poor quality and felt like cardboard
The bed was lacking in every which way, felt like one wrong move and the base was going to fall through very cheap, the mattress was possibly the worst ive ever attempted to sleep on, the pillows and quilt were so thin and this made the room cold at night.
Bathroom wasn't the worst ive seen however I didn't even attempt to use the shower.
Overall what I thought was going to be a hidden gem in the local area when needed I will not be going back.
As a non smoker ive come away feeling sick purely from the smell and headache.

- Michael (3/5): Unless you’re a smoker who’s looking for basically a hotel room, I’d avoid - Reasonably cheap compared to other places we looked at The place stank of stale smoke. To the point people I work with thought I’d been smoking the next day due to the smell on my clothes. Had a kitchenette but no pots, pans or anything more than basic cutlery.
- Aaron (2/5): terrible - nothing kitchen has no utensils to actualy cook a meal, fire alarm was beeping constantly all nite and every time neighbours went outside the doors slam and wake you up. worst nites sleep ever
- Anghel (1/5): It was very bad it smelt - Noting very bad Noting
- Gemma (9/5): -
- Christopher (7/5): - Convenient for where we needed to be. Generally smart looking. Smell of cigarette smoke in shared entrance way and lounge. Self catering equipment was minimal and not enough for 2 people. There was a cooker but no pans to use. No ice cube tray. Steps up to door were dangerous. We had to purchase coffee, milk, washing up liquid and toilet roll. Towels were wet upon arrival. Needed 2 bedside tables.
- William (1/5): This was the worst experience ever in a Booking.com property. - Bathroom was good with an excellent shower. Very quiet location being on an industrial estate where everything is shut after 6pm. The bed was very lumpy. Property advertised a kitchenette and photos showed a cooker and hob but no pans or cooking utensils. The hosts said that they didn't advertise pans or cooking utensils so there weren't any. Very negative response and they didn't want to accept that cooking facilties without utensils was misleading advertising. Passed the buck and said I should complain to Booking, com. Worst experience ever in a Booking.com property. Will be staying at the Premier Inn from now on.
- shug (8/5): - Apartment was a suitable size, Ideal for my visit and just minutes walk to the venue.. price and availability was perfect..
- Ayesha (3/5): - really really strong cigarette odour in the room which is disgusting, blinds don’t keep out the light, paper thin walls so you can hear all the noises the neighbours are making and don’t sleep well
- Thomas (1/5): Bad - Stunk of urine and damp and in a rough area and you could smell cannabis
- Liam (7/5): If it had a better bed I’d give it 10 out of 10 - The property was really clean and had everything you need The bed was uncomfortable had a really bad nights sleep because of it
- Lee (1/5): Like previous comment, couldn’t even find the place. Very very poor. - Nothing I didn’t even find the apartment.. so didn’t even stay there
- Andy (7/5): alls not silver. - Proximity to the venue. Although the pi ctures of the location is very misleading. It's not in a large block but above a taxi office up steep metal stairs.. Rather noisy during the stay. Vehicles coming n going and noisy people outside.. Noisy.. Street lights shining in all night.. Vehicles coming n going.. Steep metal stairs..
- Naomi (7/5): Met the purpose and staff were great - Everything needed Smelled like smoking
- Bradley (7/5): Good - Good location, easy booking process and fast replies.
Clean and what I needed
- Andrew (2/5): Very poor - Wasn't cleaned from last guests , they sent someone to clean but it only took her 5 minutes. Didn't hoover or wipe surface. Dirty
- Andrew (1/5): Bad - Easy to get to Booked couple of weeks in advance, got there and hadn't been cleaned since last guests . Rubbish all over and bed a mess . They sent a cleaner up but it still wasn't hoovered and surfaces still had pizza blob on door . Won't go back again
- Tunde (6/5): Not much choice in Thornaby - The price.. you pay for what you get The bed was very uncomfortable, the bedsheets and covers were not that great ...No microwave. Location very difficult to find as sat nav takes you to somewhere completely different. £5 damage deposit which is not refunded 🤣
- Adikwu (7/5): Not bad - Microwave and WiFi needed plss The fact that there is not microwave
- Glasgow (4/5): Difficult. Won’t stay there again and certainly won’t recommend to any family or friends - The layout That there was no staff member
They were uncontactable
I received a text message from the staff saying that there will be an onsite take away that would be open ( It never was )
The key code that was given to me via text was the wrong code had to stay outside for 3hours whilst someone came to clean the flat before I can enter . And yes I was expected. However the flat was dirty . Had to wait for the cleaner to change sheet clean bathroom. Wash the dishes. It was a horrible stay ..
- Temz (8/5): Very good -
- Douglass (9/5): Lovely - Was a nice quite retreat for me really enjoyed my stay will definitely stay again x
- Michelle (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (8/5): Nice apartment, shame no WiFi - Location suited me perfectly. No WiFi caused me problems……
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - Clean and tidy Nothing to cook with on cooker like saucepan but not the end of the world
- Hugh (7/5): Good -
- Neil (7/5): Good -
- Oluwatomisin (10/5): Exceptional -
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - Nice and comfortable place to stay . Clean and tidy. Restaurant downstairs which serves good tasty meals
- Graeme (8/5): Very good -
- Paula (4/5): Really good apart from the smell. - The cleanliness. The property was above a taxi rank and badly smelt of stale smoke .
- Adikwu (5/5): Passable -
- Adikwu (6/5): Pleasant -
- Joey (7/5): Great place for a short stay - Nice place, clean and tidy No wifi
- Olorunfemi (9/5): Superb - Apartment Kitchen
- Pnooell (7/5): Happy to do this again. - Location was easy to find.
Room was comfy.
- Brodie (3/5): Cheap for a reason - Good amount of effort put into decoration Poor cleanliness, no WiFi, no lamps, springy mattress, 1 unwashed towel, only 2 pillows on double bed both flat as a pancake. Junk and used lipstick in the drawer, picture hung up by plug sockets, unpatching bedding, laundry washed with only fabric softener which was in an old used lucozade bottle. Plank of wood sticking out of wonky headboard. No parking & hard to find apartment. Grime on taps, had to hold shower because water naturally directs at the wall once turning shower on. Dirty bin and cupboard doors.
- Anne (1/5): Bad - bed broken, shower blocked no cutlery or equipment to cook in the kitchen noisy from taxi rank
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Reece (7/5): Good -
- Olabode (8/5): Very good -
- Graham (8/5): Very good - Looked like a recent apartment fit out and really nice internally. Great for a stop over when in the locality rather than a hotel. Nice to have a kitchen area. Nice that tea/coffee and biscuits provided and also shower gel etc. Difficult to find and didn't realise it was in the middle of an industrial estate but felt safe and secure.
Needs a couple of pans/Frying pan to make use of the new kitchen appliances.
- Akoji (9/5): Superb -
- Okechukwu (1/5): Not money well spent. - Not a single thing The first impression was off. I literally felt like I was scammed. The apartment was in the middle of nowhere. Not a residential area. Warehouses and workshops zone. Constant noises from the car park or car washing .I wasn't expecting a treatment of 5 stars, but my experience was way below 1 star to be fair.
The bedding was so uncomfortable.
Well, the bathroom was lovely, so is the gentle man and lady that attended to us when we arrived..
- Liam (10/5): Excellent stay. - Had everything that we expected. It was really comfortable and clean. The facilities where also really good. There is a restaurant right near also which we had some food and drinks from which was also really nice. There was No WiFi for the TV. So used Hotspot on our phone to watch a movie which was fine.

- James (5/5): Passable - Was clean and good value for money Was in a dodgy industrial estate , couldn’t even find the place at first without asking someone
- Silvia (7/5): ‘‘Twas alright, I’d probably still use it next time if I can be guaranteed that it would be clean - The location is great , the furnitures and fittings are perfect and cute and cozy. It wasn’t clean. The cutlery are rusted, the floor was dirty and so was the toilet. I had to wash before I could use it.
The apartment had cigarettes smell in it. I opened the window to let the smell out but that couldn’t even do it because someone in flat two was right outside the stairs smoking.
- Kayleigh (8/5): Very good -
- Kayleigh (8/5): Very good - Clean & modern Steep outdoor steps to access
- Darryl (1/5): horrendous - no breakfast not herring tenant's text door on the phone and the other side tenants up all night on drugs.
don't think it meets fire regulations as there is insulation between apartment's and no fire wall in loft space.
could smell cigarette smoke all the time as apartments next door were smoking
- Queen (3/5): Good price for two nights but would never go again due to the untidiness of the property and many rules that don’t even - The price for two day stay. The location hard to find
The bed too soft
pillows too soft and thin
blanket dirty and small
Broken bed Headboard (wood coming out the headboard)
Bathroom not clean, covered in dust and dirt
Toilet was covered in urine
Towels dirty
Showered dirty not cleaned
Kitchen area not tidied and dirt marks
Surrounding noise
Too many rules to follow
- Angela (7/5): The apartment was absolutely fine for our needs, as we only wanted somewhere to sleep, and this was very clean and comfo - Very clean and comfortable Just needs a little attention, the blinds are a bit twisted. Mainly the kitchen area needs attention. There were two mugs one had a large chip, no knives at all in the cutlery and whilst it had a lovely oven and hob, no pans etc to cook. The apartment can be hard to locate, Just Eat couldn't find it despite a Google earth pin and they had the post code, but that's not the hosts fault really.
Thicker pillows needed. But all these are small niggles with a quick fix
- Mahmood (10/5): Exceptional -

- Michael (1/5): Bad - Nothing to like. This business is fraudulent. Do not book run!run!run! They wont reply messages and won't refund you. This is a scam.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional - Good N/A
- Adele (1/5): Bad - Apartment was clean NOISE couldn't stay as above noisy taxi office 😑 could hear full conversation, phone calls etc
- Nikki (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anonymous (9/5): Superb -
- Aasim (7/5): Good -
- Tracey (1/5): BE AWARE WORKERS ! long shifts tired and not being able to check in no communication or now rely - Nothing as I never got yo stay Lack of communication no check in details were sent when promised quick enough to take my money and send form for me to fill in and send ID then was promised check in details the night before but nothing from them at all supposed to be 2.00pm check in but no details arrived till 3.30pm which I had to remind them of again ! which then it was too late for me to arrange travel etc if I hadn't contacted again I don't think I would have received any check in details at all. I have since sent messages and no reply ?? BE AWARE WORKERS ! I travel all over the country and this is the last thing you need after working and driving not being able to check in when you arrive.
- John (8/5): Very good -
- Mick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Anne (8/5): Very good -
- Ken (7/5): business grip - Very clean not the best position but value for money Nothing
- Stephen (5/5): It was ok as a short notice stopover but wouldn`t go back. - Strange location. Shared a building with a cab company. Couldn`t get the password for the WiFi and owner guessed and got it wrong and when phoned said he didn`t know and couldn`t sort it out.
- Collin (1/5): Avoid at all costs! Definitely a scammer. - Unprofessional host. Double booked the room, refusing to get in contact. Took my money and has been must ever since last week.
- Carol (8/5): Met our need for accommodation at an affordable price, and exceeded our expectations. Would return. - Not the best location or view really but a lot of effort has gone into making this a better than average place to stay. Don't let your first impression put you off. This is a very good place to stay. Everything new and of a very good basic standard. Everything is very clean and neat, there is everything you need here. I particularly liked that we didn't need the tea bags, sugar and milk that we always take as we like our brews, there was enough provided for the first time in years! Cheers! The mattress was far too soft, as were the pillows. There was no bedside table or lamp/wall light either, doesn't need to be anything fancy but when occupying the space this was very noticeable. Little they can do about the stairs being steep, at least there are 2 rails and non slip strips across the steps.
- Nikki (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dzumbira (7/5): Good - No access to the internet
- Mauri (8/5): Very good -
- Ashtash (9/5): Wonderful getaway apartment! - Property was very lovely, nicely furnished. Facilities provided were very good and was very clean! Would defiantly stay again! The surrounding businesses are a great bonus for somewhere to eat and evening entertainment. The only thing for us would be the mattress, it didn't feel very sturdy and was quite squishy. In apartment 1 the window in the bedroom the seal seems to be broken and with the wind it creates a whistle. Wasn't terrible but just a note for for the future 😊 The Royal Apartments could do with a sign on the building to indicate where they are so it's a little easier to find.
- Steven (7/5): Good for what I needed. Would stop again. - Good price and location for what I needed. Ideal for work. A bit noisy outside at times.
