- Carl (10/5): Very clean very cheap lovely stay - Cheapest place I could find for the start of my John O Groats to Lands End bike ride was able to keep the bike in the room which was two rooms one with bed the other with coffee and tea and a nice seating area next to the bathroom which was very clean. When you look at pictures the building looks old and run down but the insides are very nice and for the price I was very happy indeed Clean room friendly locals greeting me at the door as said the room was really nice with it's two rooms the view was of the beer garden so that's a shame
- NetnPete (10/5): Quality stay at bargain price. - The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Excellent quality. The lady member of staff was very welcoming and helpful. The hotel doesn't have it's own parking but it wasn't a problem as we were told where we could park when we checked in (on the street a few steps away).
- Graham (7/5): - The room was decorated to a high standard. The external look of the building gave a very poor first impression.

- Sally (9/5): Cosy and comfortable rooms - Felt very welcome. Room was clean and tidy. Bed was comfortable. Did not look welcoming from the outside. But we were pleasantly surprised with the friendly staff that greeted us inside the pub which looked and felt cosy and welcoming.
- Helen (10/5): A night i Thurso - Very well appointed rooms

- Elaine (10/5): Unexpected stay. - Homely, welcoming they accommodated us at very short notice as sadly the hotel we were booked into was not acceptable. There was nothing to dislike.
- jennifer (7/5): Great staff and location - Great location, very clean hotel and bar, good size room, brilliant friendly staff Hot water tap didn’t work in bathroom
- Alistair (8/5): -
- stuart (9/5): - Everything was perfect couldnt fault it. Nothing

- Linda (10/5): Perfect Overnight Stay - Overnight stay prior to a work event the next day. Clean, comfortable, and surprisingly quiet considering the central location. Fabulous old building with plenty of character, and very friendly welcome. N/A
- Kali (7/5): -
- Desmond (3/5): Poor an unpleasant stay - No food available
Noise all evening from the bar downstairs/live music band Noise
Location on busy street
Traffic noise
Old tv difficult accessing channels
- Helen (5/5): It served a purpose. - Room was clean, bed was comfortable enough. There was no smoke alarm in the bedroom which is against the law in Scotland. There was no breakfast provided and there was no WiFi. The waste bin had not been emptied since the last occupant.
- Glen (9/5): -
- Massimiliano (5/5): Passable -
- Sharon (10/5): -
- Jonathan (8/5): Great room, next to a popular bar - The room was perfect, a good size comfortable bed, a nice desk, a good bathroom with a shower and hot water. Just what I needed. The staff in the bar were very helpful and pleasant. It is located in a good central location for Thurso. It wasn't immediately obvious upon arriving that it was the hotel. Whilst the bar was lovely and friendly on the Friday night, there was a dangerous edge to it on the Saturday night. While they don't do food and that was known in advance, it can be difficult to work out where exactly DOES do food, especially if you arrive in the dark.
- 승호 (5/5): - 위치는 좋았어요 샤워물이 졸졸흐르는 시설이 매우 좋지 않았습니다.
- Dennis (10/5): Will definitely be back - No breakfast, location was perfect for what we wanted to do Nothing

- Diane (4/5): Very disappointing - Room was clean and appeared comfortable… A warm welcome and nice room were cancelled out by the noise from the bar below us. We don’t mind a bit of noise, and expect it if staying near a bar, but in this case the music, so loud our teeth were vibrating, finally stopped at 3 minutes to 1 am. There was a further half hour of shouting from the street, and a lot of vomit on the pavements next morning when we left. It was a miserable experience and surely there should have been some warning. Future guests thinking of booking Friday or Saturday - consider yourselves warned!
- Maree (6/5): Overall it was good, very clean and nice room but noisy through the night so take ear plugs! - Very clean rooms and comfy beds. Very spacious rooms and nice bathroom. Very loud at night as above beer garden, would have been good to have a hair dryer.
- James (2/5): Not a hotel. Don't stay here. - The room was clean. Extremely loud music from pub audible in room until 01:00 AM
No parking (Advertised as secure parking)
WiFi not in all rooms, and poor in the rooms it does reach. (Advertised as fast wifi)
No fire alarm
No Hair Dryer (Advertised)
No Iron (Advertised)
Very lound traffic from the locals until late.

- John (10/5): We were fishing so the showers had to be good and they were! - Compared to some other hotels close by, the rooms were really good. My mate stayed in another hotel and the roof fell in in his room soaking him and his phone! Not that it bothered me but the rooms are part of a pub! Friday and Saturday is a little noisy. No breakfast, wasn’t a problem to us, basically right next door is a sandwich shop that opens reasonably early. Good bacon and egg rolls, with sandwiches and soup and cakes available. Recommend highly!
- Gabriela Cristina (1/5): Non tornerei - Niente La mancanza di sensibilidad e cortesia del personale è stato alquanto notevole
- Marc haprper (10/5): -
- Laura (5/5): - Basic hotel, decent price, staff friendly enough and helped us park the bike safely. Very noisy location. Not entirely unexpected - it's over a bar but every moron with an oversized exhausted seemed to treat the road as their personal racetrack.
They also didn't do breakfast which I believe was an additional thing you could add on.
I would also agree with other comments about the smell of urine on one landing
- Georgiana (10/5): - Was an amazing staying, very lovely staff, the room was nice and clean, parking on the road, front of the room.
- Ash (5/5): - Rooms lovely.
Good hot shower.
Separate "living room" from the bedroom was nice. No food or breakfast.
Free parking was actually on street. Didn't feel very safe.
Very much a locals pub. Not a particularly welcoming atmosphere.
- Elaine (6/5): It’s ok to stay but you cannot sit up in bed as ceiling is so low over head of bed - The location Sloping ceilings -not pre warned on booking and no breakfast as originally advertised.
No hairdryer and asked but not delivered.
- Peter (8/5): Welcoming hotel, good for an overnight stay - Spacious room, comfortable bed, large bathroom with shower. Tea & coffee, tv. Everything needed for overnight stay.
My train journey was heavily delayed (by 5 hours!) but I was able to keep in touch with Kerry at the hotel by texts/phone, who was very helpful and late arrival was not a problem. Fortunately the welcoming hotel bar was still open when I finally arrived All good
- Sherifa (7/5): It was ok - The room was fine and the slanting wall gave it a quirky feel. The shower and sink were fine. The water pressure in the shower was excellent. The shampoo provided by the hotel was nice. The room could have included a mini fridge as there is space. The kettle in the room was discoloured on the inside so I didn't feel comfortable using it. The toilet was made for tall persons? I felt it was installed higher than the usual toilet height. The towels provided felt slightly thin.
- Beverley (7/5): - Nice layout n spacious room
- Digz (9/5): -
- Ralph (6/5): -
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Bartosz (10/5): Exceptional - Cleanliness. Lovely and very helpful staff. Comfortable apartment and bed. Localisation... WiFi was weak. The only disadvantage.
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Adam (8/5): Very good -
- Lauren (3/5): Not as advertised - Comfy bed. TV in room. Not as advertised. No parking or facilities as mentioned. Wifi didn't reach room. Bedding seems personal, had a hole on it and spots of blood. No shower gel. Doors are dodgy.
- Philip (10/5): Facilities were good and staff were extremely helpfull - I had to leave before breakfast was served Every thing was fine
- Texa (5/5): The room was fine, but the location above the pub meant I was disturbed by loud music all night. - Comfy room The room I was in was right above the pub downstairs, which had loud music playing until very late. Even with ear plugs the music was very loud, and I didn't sleep until it eventually stopped, which must have been at about midnight. I was having a job interview the next day, and woke up tired due to this.
- Anonymous (8/5): Quality pub accommodation in a good location with great staff. - N/A All good
- Robert (6/5): Surprisingly noisy! - The location was in the town of Thurso, so if you'd like to be in a central location then this is as central as it gets. As for travelling outwith the town centre, then again it's a good location for using as a central point for visiting all the popular places around caithness and north east Sutherland Firstly during our stay, the traffic outside the hotel/ guesthouse was very noisy,,, as in cars doing some kind of circuit up and down the road with ripping and popping exhausts. It was pretty relentless all week. . We also had music coming from the bar on the Friday night, into the early hours of Saturday morning. Not the loudest of music but on top of the noise of the cars,, it just compounded the annoyance.. It's a good stop over for one or two nights but we wouldn't recommend anything longer.... Just to cap it,, it was a very warm week that we stayed, but even with the windows closed, it was still very noisy.
- Richard (8/5): Perfect drop off stay - Location good, room nice, parking easy.
- Hamish (8/5): Very good -
- Kerri (7/5): Good -
- Ford (4/5): Needed a bed and this was fine - Shower was powerful and good The roof slanted couldn’t sit up in bed - there was a very funky smell on level 2 and drifted up
To outside the door on level 3.
- Kevin (6/5): Nice room and facilities, good for a short stay - Nice room, but has the garden to the bar right outside, so on busy nights it is very noisy up until midnight.
Parking is on the road behind the hotel.
Selection of restaurants in the area is very limited. Noisy at night when the bar is busy
- Lizi (10/5): Perfect stay in a very welcoming hotel - We stayed on a Wednesday night so were lucky enough to see a live band in the bar below.
My grandparents owned the hotel in the 50s so it was very special being able to stay there.
- Ben (6/5): Pleasant -
- Green (8/5): Very good basic - The accommodation was clean., comfortable, with a good bathroom en suite No breakfast available
- Ian (1/5): Bad - I cancelled the stay..
the hotel advises that it has free parking, but forgets to inform customers the only parking available is ON STREET As above I feel that Ive been conned! By miss information..
- Charlie (9/5): Great value for money - Great spacious room, friendly staff.
- Karen (8/5): I was there for a funeral, these issues were minor as I had other worries and didn’t take photos. - The freshly decorated en-suite bathroom , the bedroom was spacious with plenty room to walk around in and it has the pleasure of enjoying the sun all day . No breakfast, although not included in my quoted price I was expecting to be able to add it on and pay once I arrived.Although the room has plenty of space I knocked my head a few times before adjusting to the attic style ceiling. Broken handles on bath and bathroom windows and a little bit of cosmetic decoration in the bedroom needed finishing, a piece of missing carpet and wallpaper both concealed with the same armchair. Housekeeping came into the room at 9.40am despite a 10am checkout.
- Kathy (8/5): Hotel was a welcome stay after a long drive. Super friendly manager where nothing was a problem. Would stay here again - Very central. Clean and tidy, roomy. Very nice friendly host Was quite a hot room, and quite dull lights, that weren’t good for reading.
- Megan (5/5): Passable -
- Donna (9/5): Great place - Great hosts, fabulous service
Warm and cosy Duvet too warm
Not enough coffee and milk but I didn’t ask for more
- Darren (2/5): Wouldn’t recommend at all - Location was fine Dirty linen . Bed bugs or fleas.
The smell of dog urine in the foyer area was extremely strong and carried on thru to the room. The mat or carpet is covered in it.
Noisy beer garden right near window but noise did close down about 11 pm
Plus it wasn’t affordable for what we got at all.
Couldn’t wait to get out of there
- Brian (10/5): Very comfortable and made to feel very welcome - Very nice rooms with a very comfortable bed, slept like a log on both nights I stayed. Very friendly staff, always asked if everything was ok. Will definitely be staying there again. Got treated to live music on the Saturday with a great atmosphere. Shower pressure was a bit low but was plenty hot enough
- Gary (10/5): Friendly lovely place - Lovely room friendly staff
- Roger (8/5): Excellent facilities. - Excellent room. Noise from bar late at night.
- Paton (7/5): Good -
- Lucinda (9/5): Superb - The room was very spacious, bed was comfortable. Had the best nights sleep!!
Brilliant bar downstairs busy and staff were very helpful.
- Anonymous (9/5): would stay here again. - location of this hotel is ideal.
very friendly staff, room was very clean
- Paul (2/5): Personally wouldn't book here again - The general cleanliness of the room was very poor, initially as i walked into the bar to collect the keys my feet almost stuck to the ground. The room setup is very tacky and seems nothing like the photos. No locks on the door so i couldn't leave any valuable. The room itself was poor standards, Hairs in the bed either from and old grey person or a grey animal, long hairs in the shower and the bathroom.my overall thought was the room hadnt been cleaned. The bed sheets in my opinion are someone's personal ones that have been used for guest, bleach stains and very worn.
Absolutely zero facilities. Iron board ETC.
I checked in and checked out within 15minutes, 10 of those minutes i spent trying to fight with the outside door trying to gain access to the building.
Locks as old as the bed sheets. Both very worn and need replaced.
