- Melissa (7/5): - The cottage was clean. It was handy for the park and ride into Whitby. It was next to a pub and a garden cente, both serving food. Good supermarkets easily accessible (by car). It was fairly well equipped. The cottage was right on a main road, attached to a garden centre on a busy round about. It was double glazed but the master bedroom is on the main road side and the traffic was still pretty busy until very late - still plenty of cars at midnight so if you need quiet for sleep, it's not for you. The curtains were not proper blackout curtains so we were woken early by the light. There was no storage for coats or shoes (appreciate there isn't much space for this). There was no information given about the cottage - no info on heating, bins etc and on the first night we thought we had been locked out as the garden centre gates were closed. The padlock wasn't actually locked but it would have been good to get the heads up on this. The bath towels were very small, larger towels or bath sheets would be better (especially when the bathroom is downstairs). More cutlery and crockery would be useful as we were having to wash up in between meals so we had stuff clean for the next meal (rather than just running the dishwasher at night time as we would usually do). It would have been useful to have some baby/toddler plastic plates/cutlery. It would have also have been good to have a proper clothes airer for drying clothes (I could only find a tiny over radiator one) Overall we really enjoyed the area and had a great stay. The cottage was well equipped and clean and we were pretty comfortable, the above would have made our stay better though and it's just my honest feedback. One other point is that immediately opposite the door of the cottage is a huge shipping container and a load of pallets which is pretty scruffy. Obviously this makes little difference once you're inside but if you're expecting a picturesque country cottage, it's not that.
- Ella (10/5): - The cottage itself is great, perfectly sized for a small group or family. The kitchen is fully furnished and bedrooms have a hair dryer and clothes airer. It felt homely and with the cafe and garden centre next door, a pub across the road and a park&ride with regular busses also across the road, its perfectly placed. Was easy to find and access, and a short drive from the beach, pavillion, harbour and train station. Rebecca was helpful and easy to contact. Overall fantastic place and would love to come back!
- Fiona (9/5): Lovely… great location, well equipped & very comfortable - Great location - pub across the road, cafe in the garden centre and across the road from the park & ride Cottage could be more visually appealing on the outside.
- Megan (10/5): Perfect Cozy little cottage on a great spot for seeing the sights of North Yorkshire - Great location parking outside the door We had to go home eventually
- jane (9/5): Excellent communication from Rebecca.we had a lovely stay and would highly recommend. - Lovely cosy little cottage.
Excellent facilities Beds were a little uncomfortable but that’s just us being fussy 😂
- Kathleen (9/5): Enjoyed every minute - Location opposite park and ride Downstairs Bathroom
- Gail (8/5): -
- Johnnytbeard (9/5): - Really nice location v quiet
- Robert (10/5): Good location for Whitby and surrounding areas. - Everything was as described in property , Good location for park & ride bus , nice bar & restaurant opposite. Next to garden centre which does an excellent breakfast . Problem getting key code . Couldn’t get in for just over an hour !
- Paul (8/5): - Was Very accessible to Road network ie Whitby p&r and other areas. Couldn't sit outside due to no areas, no emergency contact numbers Incase of power cuts or issues , not not knowing when gates being closed when we were out .
- Diane (9/5): Fabulous cottage, definitely recommend! - Lovely cottage. Good size for our family of 3. Plenty of storage for clothes, in the kitchen and the bathroom. Very comfortable beds and cosy living room. The dustbin in the kitchen is very small and there weren’t any additional bin bags in order to empty the bin mid-week.
The front room could do with a net curtain as it faces the main road.
- Helen (10/5): - The cottage was in a great location with the park and ride across the road! It was lovely and clean and there was tea, coffee, milk and cookies to welcome us! A really lovely stay and would definitely visit again. Thank you!
- Julie (8/5): The adventures of Ollie and Lunar - Cleanliness facilities value for money Larger bed could do with a mattress topper my son and daughter-in-law said it was uncomfortable
- Louise (8/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): Victoria cottage. - Great location next to the park and ride into Whitby centre. Across the street from stables restaurant and next door to the garden centre.
Great communication with the host. House was very clean and tidy. Kitchen had everything we needed. Bed was very comfortable. Can't really fault anything. Everything was lovely. Would definitely stay again.
- LES (6/5): - Nice break The stairs
- Dale (7/5): Good -
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional - Location excellent for park and ride No advice booklet
- William (8/5): Very good - Clean, comfortable cottage, very handy for the park & ride. Downstairs toilet
No guest book for people to comment and to recommend pubs and restaurants and places to visit.
- Lisa (10/5): Lovely immaculate clean cottage, all modern & well decorated inside. Highly recommend lovely place. - Immaculate, modern inside cottage, bit out of town but parking outside property & a park n ride directly opposite that ran every 15 mins. Restaurant opposite & garden centre with cafe to side. Very happy & would recommend to anyone. The only thing I could say which is nothing, is garden faces right on to the main road so you can’t really sit out because of noise. Well you could but we didn’t.
- Julie (7/5): Good -
- Anne-marie (9/5): A charming home from home. - Beautifully presented and well appointed with everything one might need for a self-catering stay. Some lovely touches, including some delicious biscuits and fresh flowers, and more practically a pint of milk in the fridge and really appreciated the cooking oil! Off road parking and having the park and ride opposite made getting around painless. The convenient location came with one downside, it is on a busy A road, with the inevitable noise, however one accepts that little can be done about this, and the traffic did subside considerably at night.
- Neil (8/5): Very good - Towels not great. Appearance of property from outside is poor, but great when you get inside.
- Lake (8/5): Lovely warm cozy accommodation. Great location for local and wider sightseeing. - Lovely and clean with good facilities. Rebecca was excellent in communicating and even supplying a new high chair at short notice- thank you. The bedrooms were spacious and good combination with a double and twin room. The lounge area was comfy with good quality seating and the house was warm and cozy. Easy to walk into Whitby past the Castle and some cross country walks with the dog on the door step.Park and ride literally opposite if you don’t fancy the walk. Garden centre with cafe and lovely gift shop next door! Also good quality pub opposite. Overlooks a busy main road but could only hear with windows open (we had sunshine!).
- George (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely place everything you need,a bit of road noise but nothing to bother about, nice touch flowers on table, milk & biscuits left for us. Good for park & ride if you don't want to use the car, excellent. Thankyou to the owners .we will be back when in the area again.lovely cottage
- Claire (9/5): Superb - In quiet area. Did friendly No bath lol!! But that’s just me
- Sharon (10/5): A amazing place to stay wish we could have stayed longer - It was a lovely little cottage great location I think there was nothing wrong with it just needs some more kitchen utensils like better serving stuff etc spoons metal tongs and maybe a cheap air fryer just in case you can’t get everything in oven but from that nothing wrong with the property
- Darren (9/5): Superb - Great 2 bedroom cottage just outside of Whitby town centre. Very clean with all the amenities needed for our short stay in North Yorkshire.
- Linda (8/5): Comfy, clean cottage - No coat hangers
- Alan (10/5): Fantastic cottage in a good location. - Excellent property with everything you could need. Cafe and Garden Centre with lovely gift shop on doorstep. Park and Ride across the road so we did not have to use our car to travel around. Definitely use again. Parking on doorstep. Everything was perfect.
- Peter (9/5): Superb -
- Dawn (8/5): Cosy cottage in convenient location - We had a pleasant stay at the cottage which was very clean and cosy. Lovely sunflowers on the table and some milk for us in the fridge.
The downstairs bathroom was great in the day. Nice hot shower.
The kitchen was quite well equipped but had limited plates and cutlery for the four of us.
Our car broke down and the staff in the Garden Centre were really friendly and helpful.
The beds were firm but bedding lovely and comfortable pillows.
The onsite parking, effectively in the garden centre car park, was very convenient as was the location.
We discovered the Abbey View cafe in the garden centre at the end of our stay. Stunning views and lots of lovely gifts to buy in the garden centre itself. .
The garden at the front of the cottage was very sweet. When we arrived and we opened the front door we were met with the sight of large metal industrial storage containers only feet from the front door. At one point a delivery took place. We walked out to find garden centre items scattered around us. We felt like intruders in a workspace with the staff staring awkwardly at us.
We had to buy hangers.
This is not really the place to stay for a quiet break. Even with windows closed the busy road noise came through except in the early hours. On the up side this meant the cottage was great for accessing Whitby and surrounding areas, and, containers aside we did enjoy our stay.
- Sandra (9/5): Superb - Location is great. Amenities are
just what we needed and price wonderful. The stairs are quite small and steep so be careful when going up and down them.
- Louise (7/5): Good - Cleanliness
Comfy beds
Good selection of utensils in kitchen.
Flowers milk / biscuits when arrived .
Good sized rooms upstairs No dryer to dry clothes on.
No hangers to hang clothes on in bedrooms which was hard when staying for a week.
A hook in the porch would be good or somewhere to put coats on.
Garden needs attention it was cut whilst we were there but would have been nice before we arrived.
As it's on a garden centre site, there are 2 large unsightly containers right outside the front door, and it's very messy with crates wooden trellis dotted around etc it let the place down a bit it is such as shame .
Was given the wrong key code and after travelling along way it was the last thing we needed. But I left a message for the owner and she called straight back to give me the correct one.
- Holland (7/5): Great place to stay for exploring w - Very comfy and homey feel to the place. No issues at all with all the amenities. Close to whitby which was great and right besides the park and ride. Garden full of prickly weeds. Next to busy carriageway. No netting in ground floor.
- Jacqueline (9/5): Excellent find! - Cottage was cosy as described. Perfect for a weekend away. Couldn't have asked for anything more... The garden was next to a busy road but it wouldn't stop us from coming back again.
- Debbie (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (10/5): holiday home - cottage home from home.
bus route into town on doorstop
friendly place would have liked a washing line or clothes horse
- Anthony (10/5): Wonderful - Everything Nothing
- Ian (10/5): Easy to find, car parking right next to the cottage and the accommodation was spotless. - Cottage was spotless. Right next to park and ride and garden centre. Had breakfast there. Rebecca the owner left flowers and a welcome pack. As the cottage was next to a busy road we thought it might hinder our sleeping. But it was not an issue.
- Lisa (10/5): Lovely cottage - Lovely little cottage, clean and comfortable. Great location opposite the park and ride, with a good pub/ restaurant over the road.
- Martin (9/5): Really enjoyed our stay. - Great location. Out of town centre but right beside the park and ride.
Lovely cottage. Loved that kitchen had so many appliances. We didn’t use the washing machine but good to have if we come again. I know you can’t change it but the stairs were quite tricky because they were so narrow. We all found them hard to negotiate at times, especially coming down. I understand it’s the nature of an old building but it was the only negative.
- Paul (9/5): Superb - Location is excellent and the cottage was clean tidy and has all you need The garden at the front needs a bit of TLC we brought our cocker spaniel who like a bit of grass.
- Katie (10/5): Beautiful cosy cottage -
- Evelina (10/5): Lovely cottage - Was really clean and really nice decoration specially the fresh flowers when we come.
My autistic daughter feels really calm at the cottage. Small tv
- Helen (8/5): Very good - The location was great and the cottage was lovely with everything you could need.
In a fantastic place to explore Whitby. It was difficult to locate, the postcode took you to Victoria cafe, which was closed when we arrived and the gates were closed, we could see a cottage but the sign where there should have been a name was blank, but when I mentioned our difficulty in finding it to the owner, they were apologetic and helpful and an new sign was there the next day, so their response was very prompt which is great.
- Dawn (10/5): Outstanding cottage in a perfect location👏 - Wow what an amazing stay we had at Victoria Cottage. The cottage is in a fantastic location to Whitby and the added garden was lovely to relax in. The garden centre next door is a bonus and also the Stables restaurant across the road is ideal for lovely food and drink. The cottage was immaculate and the beds were so comfy. The host, Rebecca, was great at dealing with all my enquiries prior to the visit. Nothing to not like as it was perfect👌
- Amy (10/5): We really enjoyed our stay at Victoria Cottage! A great location, and the cottage had a lovely, cosy feel! Cindy beds an - Location was great.
Perfect size for the 4 of us.
Felt very cosy. Nothing!
- Andrew (10/5): House was perfect, as was the town of Whitby. Will be coming back to both the town and the cottage in the summer. - The cottage was immaculate, and was perfect location for the park and ride scheme into the town No dislikes. Was exactly what we needed for a family of 4.
- Emma (10/5): A great base to explore Whitby and its surrounding areas. Recommend. - A great base to explore Whitby and its surrounding areas. The cottage was clean and nicely presented with a homely feel. Great location opposite the Park and Ride and so if you don’t want to drive you can jump on the bus into Whitby. Would definitely recommend and visit again.
- Shaun (10/5): Exceptional - Beds were comfy, brand new furniture and utensils, good location. Very pet friendly and secure parking. No bins in the bedroom and also was unsure where the bins were for waste and recycling.
- Sarah (10/5): Exceptional - Lovely cosy little cottage. Minutes from Whitby centre.
Good place to eat opposite the cottage where you can take dogs.
Cottage is located in Victoria Farm Garden Centre grounds by the exit gate. No dislikes.
- Jade (10/5): Exceptional -

- Garry (8/5): Very good - Whitby was interesting and historical interest great All good
- Amy (10/5): Perfect, cosy and clean! Will be back :) - Property was very cosy, was also exceptionally clean. Location is perfect, whitby on your doorstep and Scarborough 30 mins away.
Property had everything you could need, even a cafe next door!
Catered to our needs and provided a cot- our little girl slept well.
A birthday card and biscuits was left which was a nice little surprise :)
Will be back. No complaints, was fab!
- Claire (10/5): Lovely cottage had a very relaxing couple of days. Will highly recommend & will be booking again -
- Dziekaniak (10/5): Exceptional - Whitby is a charming town. We also visited Robin Hood Bay and several surrounding beaches.
