Guest Reviews
- Keira (8/5): 4 stars 🌟 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ - Perfect location, neat, tidy, clean, modern Room was tight- on the small side
- Christine (10/5): One of the best pubs in QLD! - Queensland Hotels accommodation was unreal. Beautifully decorated, comfy beds and lovely big verandah to enjoy a coffee in the morning before getting back on the road. Shared toilets were super clean with included toiletries!!!
The pub down stairs was beautifully refurbished with a great big beer garden, cold beers and the meals were amazing! Nothing at all to dislike.
- Patricia (4/5): - Beautifully restored, loved the high ceilings, the huge balcony and access directly from the room. The restaurant was amazing, staff Was on target W draft recommendation and the food was lovely. Loved the feel of the place. Was on second floor and there was a kitchen available to use. Sink and fridge in the room. Shared bathroom/shower and toilet. This wasn't a problem as I didn't hear anybody else all night. The room was lovely and I could imagine what it would have been like to stay there w oil lamps and a wash stand, W the door to the balcony open for cool air and having dinner on the balcony. If ur looking for a room W a tv, there was not one n this room and the only light was a ceiling light. No outlight near the bed to plug n a charger.
- Mitchell (8/5): Such a beautiful place the accomadation and pub designed very well. - Beautiful everything was designed very well. Aircon

- Ruby redstone (8/5): Great spot to stay - Great atmosphere, tastefully renovated. Staff were attentive and helpful. Wished I could have stayed longer
- Thomas (10/5): Holiday - Nice room perfect would recommend staying again in the future Nothing absolutely perfect
- Ruth (9/5): Stay at this pub and experience how a refurbishment brings them back to life, one of the best pubs I have stayed at. - This pub had it all, comfy bed, white fluffy towels, lovely little fridge and hand basin, bedroom chair and lots of hanging hooks in room. Step out from your room onto a balcony well set up with lounging chairs, main table and dining chairs watching the sun set. Lovely white planter boxes filled the balcony to give it more of a green space.
Along with a well presented coffee and tea station help yourself at any time, also with a sofa and another dining table/chairs. Bathroom was spotless along with the room and hotel. This old pub has been lovingly restored to a very high standard, just loved the little details that were added for the comfort of guests. The plants on balcony needed some TLC or perhaps they were in the process of replacing.

- Christine (10/5): Excellent friendly facility - The hotel was very easy to find and parking available around the building. Inside was as you expect with a hotel. Bar, meals and gaming were available. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was easy to find and included a fridge, air conditioner and wash basin/mirror. There was a communal kitchen/lounge that was very clean and stocked with the basics one would expect to see. The verandah was set with two visible areas. Dining area and outdoor lounge area which were all appealing and functional.

- Julie (9/5): Return guest. I'll be back again. Thank you. - Very clean and comfortable and easily accessible and withing walking distance of all we needed in town. Dined on the Friday night in the dining room and it was lovely. The Upstairs veranda is a lovely space. The bed was a little soft for our liking but comfortable. It appears the TV in the common area was not working but I'm not sure if my partner reported this so it could be fixed. I don't use the TV.
- Liz (9/5): Pleasant comfortable accommodation, lovely dining experience at premises and staff friendly and welcoming. - Friendly welcoming staff, clean tidy comfortable accommodation, parking with CCTV for security

- runningzero (9/5): Great value for money and a nice old style country pub - Bathrooms nice and clean. Our air con was good however our friends room had very noisy air con (Room 11)
Communal kitchen nice and handy. Loved the Milo 😁
Very nice pub Everything good
- Jacqueline (6/5): Does the job but there are better options closer to the middle of town with nicer staff and facil. - Very Clean rooms and shared bathrooms were clean. Shared kitchen area clean and tidy. AC unit was loud and rattling. Couldn't sleep and left after 1 night. No A/C in communal halls/lounge/kitchen and no fans in lounge area upstairs near kitchen table area...was suffocatingly hot when not in the room. TV also broken in lounge table area.
Staff in bar/restaurant area on Sat night not helpful and couldn't be bothered. Asked for an additional side order of white rice with my meal and was told "Yeah we can't do that". Said I see it on your menu and she stormed off to check the kitchen. Came back and said yeah we can do that. Charged $7 for a small asian bowl of rice. Ridiculous.
There's a reason this was the only place in town avail on a race weekend.
- Lachie (8/5): -
- Sarah (10/5): - A fantastic new facility seperate to the pub, purpose built accommodation. A small space but very tidy, modern and had everything you needed.
- Judith (7/5): A bit disappointing. - There isn't much choice except Goondiwindi on this stretch of the Newell Highway, therefore Goondiwindi is an expensive town. I thought it was worthwhile to try an old-fashioned country hotel. The owners have done a good job of making the rooms attractive. The service in the restaurant let the hotel down. I put in my order and was given a buzzer. Having nursed my drink for over half an hour, I went to ask how long my simple meal would be only to be told that for some reason the order had not gone through. There was no real apology and I wasn't offered any compensation but just asked if I would like to buy another drink and that they would put the order through straight away.
- Nathan (1/5): Wish I read the reviews - terrible night sleep - horrible place - Once I’d recovered from staying here, I enjoyed having a story to tell about the worst accomodation experience in Australia. This isn’t the first room above a Aussie country pub I’ve stayed in, so I thought I knew what to expect: unavoidable street level noise, trucks etc, and a simple, small, basic room.
I slept a maximum of two hours, even that sleep was broken by two things:
1. Discomfort - the room stank, like REALLY smelt, of a nasty chemical, I dread to think what they were trying to cover up. The bed wasn’t even flat, my back was cooked the next day. The room and bed itself was damp. The aircon extremely old, dirty and noisy.
2. The flurry of pissed revellers who had full access to the verandah directly outside my room. No security. Anyone from the pub or even off the street could - the snarky staff did f all to prevent that. The fire exit which was locked when I went to bed was soon opened and the gate out to the street wide open. So anyone wanting to carry on after the pub shut was doing so about a metre from my bed.
If you like disrespect, disgust and feral, filthy conditions, then stay here. Otherwise avoid this place. I wouldn’t stay here if it was free - over $100 for a night that took days to recover from.

- Belinda (10/5): It was a very cozy comfy stay with everything we needed in our reach. A beautiful pub with a mouthwatering menu. And col - Clean beautiful comfortable rooms. Comfy bed. Walk out onto porch from room, which was a bonus. Pub access amazing with good food. Parking at front of hotel which gave us peace of mind. Communal kitchen was well equipped and easy accessible. None.
- Aileen (10/5): Perfect. - The property was accessible for my husband who has mobility problems. The room we had was easily accessed by a ramp. Nothing
- Rob (10/5): -
- Russ (7/5): - It was clean and tidy, the food was good and the staff were friendly. The only downside was on of the showers had a broken showerhead.
- Luke (10/5): - Friendly Staff
- Stephen (10/5): - Everything
- Thomas (3/5): - Got locked out of the hotel, no staff overnight.
- Paul (10/5): -
- Todd (10/5): Great pub, clean and tidy, good feed and great facilities -
- Kevin (5/5): Wouldn't go back because to expensive compared to other option. Ultimately just pub accommodation - Bed was comfortable Were not told the toilet and shower was a shared one at the end of the corridor
Were not told the only parking was on the street.
- Gregory (8/5): -
- Brant (10/5): -
- Steve (8/5): cosy quaint practical - cosy cute room - functional a tv remote that worked
- Peter (7/5): -
- Colin (6/5): OK without being great. - Bar and bistro facilities clean, renovated and modern. Accommodation room clean and tidy. Upstairs balcony outside of room. Room overpriced. Very-small room with no TV. Made worst by community TV not working, as you couldn't get regular TV stations, only a couple of Sky Racing channels with only audio, no visual. Also community toilet/bathroom. Felt like I was at a Backpackers.

- Colin (10/5): A gem in the country - An absolute gem in the country . Beautifully restored and presented. Hot water in immaculate bathrooms. Great food downstairs in the restaurant. Room was quiet and comfortable beds Nothing
- Jemma (10/5): - Upgraded to the cabins with private bathrooms - lovely, modern and clean. Easy check in and out, friendly staff.
- nigel (8/5): - Very helpful staff and the food was very good
- Martin (6/5): - Pub meal Overpriced for a room with bed only.
No shower,toilet,coffee making in room.
- Gretel (10/5): - Location was excellent.
- Clinton (8/5): -
- Maureen (9/5): Beautiful and central to town - A new accommodation quarters out the back of the pub. Beautifully furnished and very comfortable! The pub meals are excellent too! A few small things missing.. a hand towel, an iron..
- J Tala (9/5): Awesome place to stop over - Location was great, the room was clean and the bed was super comfortable (appreciated after a long day of driving). The staff were lovely and ammenities were clean (for shared bathrooms and kitchenette). There was a small fridge in the room which worked well and the aircon was awesome. Loved having access to the balcony via both the room and the kitchen area (sat out there in the morning and worked for a couple hours). The food downstairs in the bistro was not only convenient but tasted amazing. The piano was a bonus (loved playing it in the morning). I would happily stay here again for a couple nights if passing through. I also appreciated the follow up message I received from them after my stay - nice touch! The room was on the smaller side and without an ensuite, however as a stop over this was totally ok. (note: both the toilets and the bathrooms were really clean and the other guests were respectful in keeping it that way too on top of regular staff cleaning). Overall not that much of a negative really - just if you're used to bigger rooms and want more space, might not be the right fit.
