• Furkan (9/5): Perfecte locatie voor honeymoon! - Hele vriendelijke personeel, persoonlijke butler, eten was heerlijk. Credits to Jakob, wat een vriendelijke en behulpzame butler! Het strand. Vanwege eb en vloed was er een lange dagdeel geen water in zee. Restaurant moet een aanpak krijgen tegen mieren. Erg veel mieren bij de bar.
• William (5/5): We found a way to enjoy our 6 night stay at Kilindi. However it wasn’t without its challenges. The staff are good, spec - Salum, the concierge, he was nice and clearly worked crazy hard. We really appreciated him and how he tried to make our stay good. The bugs. The bugs are awful. And the hotel just didn’t feel clean in a lot of places. Sadly it really took away from our stay. The “open-to-nature” thing needs more guardrails, as it feels like “nature taking over” a lot of the time.

Vi hade en egen butler Weetness som fanns där för oss hela tiden. Personalen hade stenkoll på mins mans födoallergier och skapade speciell meny för honom, kändes så himla tryggt och proffsigt!!!

Die Zimmer sind ein wenig in die Jahre gekommen und könnten eine Auffrischung vertragen. Der Strand ist durch die Gezeiten und die Fischerboote nur eingeschränkt nutzbar, ist aber kaum zu ändern. Die Zufahrt zum Hotel ist etwas abenteuerlich. Zu wenig Schatten bei den Villen was den Aufenthalt im Freien erschwert

The property is set across a large hill overlooking the sea, all villas are individually designed and very spacious, there are many animals roaming free, a good selection of activities, the food was exceptional and members of staff friendly and helpful. Very relaxing holiday and would highly recommend.

• Esther Derksen (10/5): - Het ontvangst bij aankomst, na eenmaal door de beveiliging heen te zijn gekomen was al ontzettend leuk en fijn. Meagan was enorm enthousiast en wist ons te vertellen dat we het huisje met de waterval hadden. We werden voorgesteld aan het personeel, kregen stukjes cake en een verse kokosnoot en werden toen voorgesteld aan onze persoonlijke gastheer,in ons geval Julius, een enorm vriendelijke man. Hij liep met ons naar ons verblijf, nummer 15. We hadden een prachtig huisje met een enorm bed (je moet je partner 's nachts echt zoeken) een ruime open badkamer, twee zwembadjes, een woonkamer onder de slaapkamer en alles wat we nodig hadden zoals badjassen, slippers en een föhn. Meer dan genoeg stopcontacten een minibar en 2x per dag schoonmaak, welke dik in orde is. Het strand is vanaf ongeveer 13.30 goed genoeg om te zwemmen. In de ochtend is de zee volledig weggetrokken, maar dat kan ook de periode zijn waarin wij er verbleven. Ook hier werden drankjes geserveerd. Het eten, zowel het ontbijt als de all day dining is lekker en goed. Soms moet je bepaalde verwachtingen even bijstellen; De panna cotta is bijvoorbeeld heel lekker, maar het is geen panna cotta. Het eten werd met heel veel vriendelijkheid geserveerd en altijd een enorme glimlach. Hou er rekening mee dat de bush baby's en apen je badkamer en/of woonkamer op zn kop kunnen zetten. Laat hier dus niets achter. Wassen is inclusief, dus geef de kleding die gewassen moet worden gewoon mee en hang ze niet zelf uit op je balkon. Dit is echt een plekje om vooral heel weinig te doen, bestel een floating breakfast, laat ontbijt naar je kamer brengen en geniet van alle luxe en Afrikaanse vriendelijkheid. In tegenstelling tot heel veel andere plekken op dit eiland en het vaste land, hebben ze hier heel zachte bedden!!! We hadden graag een lamp op het balkon gehad.

Esto añadido a la distancia hace perder mucho tiempo .

Der Strand direkt vor dem Hotel ist eher klein und stark geprägt durch Ebbe und Flut. Kompensiert wird dies durch einen sehr schönen Pool sowie die privaten Pools in den Villen.

We are on our honeymoon but our villa (#4) is likely the least private one out of all the villas (this is our guess based on what we saw when we went kayaking). There are a lot of boats on the water at certain times of the day, and they can definitely see us when we are in the bathroom when they are close enough

• Samuel (10/5): A private and paradise like retreat in secluded Zanzibar. - When talking about the greatness of Kilindi, we could talk about the amazing villa, the exquisite food, the privacy, the incredible private beach with turquoise water and plenty of activities to do, or the attention to detail. But what made our experience a 10 out of 10 was the excellent attention from our villa host Salum. Salum made sure that we were comfortable at every moment, that every detail was as expected and that we weren't missing a drink or snack for a second. He also took such good care of my wife's severe allergy to nuts, double checking every meal with the chef. He made us feel so welcome and taken care of and made the difference in this beautiful resort. Would 100% recommend.

• Babatunde (10/5): Great for Honey Moon and relaxation - Beautiful location, attentive staff, recommend getting ocean view villa, have a private pool and plunge pool. The local wildelife bush baby's or monkeys can be a slight annoyance if choosing to have meals at villa, just means cannot leave food unattended. If you have any anxiety about insects/ crawlies - the lizards and occasional spider may frighten you. But otherwise their presence isnt a concern. The villa themselves are beautiful every day the staff leave a little sweet treat after cleaning your room. As everything is powered by a generator there can be power outages, these are short lived less than 2-3 minutes a time, but on some occasions can happen in succession lasting unto 6-10 mins

• Jen (10/5): Understated luxury in a beautiful setting - A wonderful stay. The property is gorgeous, the rooms huge and the staff is so friendly and helpful. As others have said, there's not much ocean for much of the day, but the pool is so lovely that it didn't bother us.

The lodges are incredible and the staff treat you so well, our host (kind of like a butler) Salom, was so helpful and accommodating. We had a floating breakfast in our own private pool one morning, and then Kilindi organised a special seafood meal at the beach with sparkling wine as it was our honeymoon which was an absolutely amazing experience at sunset. All the food was delicious, the beach is beautiful, there are monkeys everywhere, definitely recommend!

TV in the room .. more lights in the room and inside the main swimming pool because it’s big and dark at night so it will look beautiful at night with lights and the last thing and the most important thing a GYM! Also the kitchen of the hotel needs to be open 24 hours it’s so important.

• Jack (7/5): Nice place but extremely overpriced for what it is. - The private villa was lovely surrounded by nature with two private pools a large seating area and the bathroom was very cool too. Saleh was excellent and looked after us very well catering to our every need. The whole place looks very beautiful in general. They provide a floating breakfast which is also a nice touch. The food wasn’t great the prawns and lobster weren’t cooked properly I had to send them back and it gave me a bad stomach. Very small portions so often had to order extra and I also suspect the chicken wings were microwaved. Theres no areas with air-con and it’s extremely hot which made me and my girlfriend very uncomfortable. The bedroom has air-con but the unit is too small and doesn’t cool the room down properly. Wasps and flys were in full attack at breakfast swarming around the tables but you can take breakfast in your villa to avoid this.

You get a private butler, you have a designated sunset roof inside your villa. Live music on some nights. Road to go there is horrible, make sure you get transportation from the hotel itself - outside drivers don’t know the place and you can get lost easily. When there is low tide with the water, it can smell a bit. Internet is okay, but definitely not enough if you need to stay online for a bit. Bathroom is open (no windows) to the wild, monkeys around.

Staff were the best we’d ever experienced, so attentive and cheery. They made you feel like royalty and everything was so clean. Grounds were so well kept along with the private beach which was picture perfect. I could write a book about how good everything was but I couldn’t recommend Kilindi enough!

• Joanne (10/5): A luxury hidden gem and a truly unforgettable experience - This hotel is truly special and a once in a lifetime vacation. We arrived early and was greeted by friendly and professional staff who took us to our room. We were blown away by this, it was much bigger than the photos do it justice and the views were incredible. The food and drink choices were far better than we expected and we loved the fact that we could eat and drink any time of the day in any location. Breakfast, lunch and dinner could be served in your villa, in the restaurant or by the pool or beach. We mixed it up and took advantage of all locations. We loved the free cooking class and chef Helen taught us how to make 5 Swahili dishes which tasted amazing. We had Witness as our private ambassador who was incredible and really did look after us. The beach is very private and we loved the sunset bbq dinner where we had incredible seafood freshly cooked and the lobster was huge. Drinks included cocktails, wines, sparkling, beer and spirits. You could pay extra for premium but we felt this was not needed. The food menu is all Al a carte and you can literally order anything and as much as you like for all meals. The hotel also provided activities, if you wanted to get out and about you can walk to Kendwa beach which is lovely, much busier and has a totally different vibe to Kilindi. But we preferred to stay at the hotel as we went to Kendwa afterwards. We saw a lot of monkeys from our room which we didn’t expect, they were totally harmless, they can be noisy though so be aware of this. The staff in every area were incredible, our room was kept spotless and we even had little notes and small treat left. The service was above and beyond 5star. Honestly, this place is beautiful and you will not be disappointed. Staff are very attentive and really do want you to have a beautiful experience and every day we were asked by the managers how our stay was, are we happy, are things good. We really appreciated this but felt sometimes this was not needed every day and especially during dinner times when it perhaps was a romantic meal. Only a very small issue but this is something for the management staff to reflect on.
• Charlotte (10/5): An absolutely stunning property and service - This property is stunning. The main house, the spa rooms, the grounds, and the villas - all beautifully designed, light, airy, spacious. They have an Arabian / Grecian feel to them. The villas are a luxury in space, two plunges pools, various sitting areas. Greeted in the room with a (good quality) bottle of sparkling wine, inclusive minibar stocked, flower petals and messages everywhere. We loved the open nature of the rooms. There was no need to feel self-conscious as each villa is quite secluded. We had a wonderful view of the ocean. The lunch menu was especially delicious, in particular the tapas dishes, but all the food was good. The inclusive wine list was good, as well as the other drinks. We had spa treatments which were excellent, and in a beautiful setting, with the breeze blowing over you and the sound of birds. We had a private BBQ on the beach one evening, which was lovely, although dinner starts at 7pm, which was after sunset. For the beach dinners it seems to us that dinner should start half an hour earlier, so you get to enjoy the sunset. Various water sports options available at the beach, eg we used SUP boards inclusive. There was lots of wildlife around the property that we enjoyed. The staff were very accommodating without being in the way or pushy. That said, our butler’s English was not very good, which led to mistakes / misinterpretations on a number of occasions. Eg bringing the wrong drinks, or not being able to answer questions. Many of the staff could speak excellent English so it was a bit of a shame that the person who was most regularly dealing with us couldn’t really understand us and rather than saying so would guess what we’d said. This was not a big deal though. There were some bees that visited us incessantly every breakfast time, but that is the nature of being in an open space I suppose! We enjoyed the beach, where there is plenty of space for the guests. That said, swimming was a little unpleasant as there was a lot of seaweed floating and we saw a number of jellyfish. • Rachel (9/5): Great but probably overpriced and variable experience ambassador dependent. - Private space, great cocktails, attentive bar staff, absolutely brilliant cooking school with Hellen. Frank our housekeeper was amazing. Lots of good food (though the steak we had on our last night was SO tough). Our ambassador wasn’t very proactive at offering services so we missed out on eating on the beach for example. Lots of reviews on Zanzibar sites mention two pools, or one off room, which ours didn’t have. If you’re a light sleeper you may struggle with the bush babies making noise and the skylight immediately above the bed.

Special Thanks to: Manager Andre Butler Daudi and Kilindi Team Since it’s a very open property and located within the natural habitat - around the rainy season it gets a little busy with little crawlies and flies - check and plan accordingly.

• Jane (10/5): Paradise - This was one of the most special and unique places I have ever stayed. The wildlife is just incredible and the views from our room and bathroom were breathtaking. Our butler could not have been helpful or accommodating. We absolutely loved it! I loved everything, but if you’re not a fan of nature, you might struggle a little with the bathroom that is essentially exposed to the elements!
• Gail (10/5): truly loved it - mega quiet for people looking to just relax. a huge villa with two pools but there is a main pool too should one prefer nothing at alll!
