Guest Reviews
- Elizabeth (8/5): fabulous and very relaxing. - kitchen units need an upgrade
- Angela (7/5): Good -
- Max (9/5): A brilliant place to rest and the facilities made the trip really exciting - Amazing facilities: hot tub, sauna.
Great views
Good location nestled between some nice towns and countryside
- Kerry (10/5): Fabulous - Everything plus the views
The sauna was an added surprise as this was new
Alongside the plunge pool. Definitely a must Absolutely nothing apart from having to leave.
Didn’t like that.
- Ewa (8/5): Lovely place with hot tub but needs a bit of tidying up - Amazing spot with hot tub Far away from the shops, pubs or restaurants
- Andrew (8/5): Perfect cottage for a mates MTB trip. Lots of room in and around the cottage inc. bike store. - Hot tub was amazing, great views across the countryside.
- Ajay (9/5): It was a relaxing family trip in whole - Location was excellent and host was quite friendly and approachable Utensils were easily available however it will be better to have a upgrade as few looked quite worn out
- David (8/5): Very good -
- Shirley (10/5): Enjoyed it immensely. - Lovely location. Very helpful owner. Loved the farm life going on around us. nothing
- Alison (8/5): Great location and hot tub:a few minor tweaks could make this a superb stay. - Location was fab. Views are amazing and the red kites soaring overhead are magical. The fresh tulips on the table was a lovely touch.
Great shower and plenty of hot water.
The hot tub was great. Could do with more comfy seating. It was OK for 3 of us but there’s not actually enough if the house is at full occupancy.
Some benches near the hot tub would be helpful for putting stuff on.
- Deborah (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful warm excellent WiFi hot tub was amazing so dog friendly private can't wait to book again hidden gem beds amazing games for kids brilliant kitchen Not a thing can't wait to book again holiday of the year for us
- Neal (10/5): Exceptional - The setting I'd fantastic, very relaxing and the property is great. Liked it all
- Debbie (10/5): Great place to visit. Will be booking in future. - Very spacious and cosy. A home from home. Mattress in main room was slightly on the thin side.
- Ulla (10/5): Exceptional - Perfect one night stay for our employees.
- Dodd (9/5): Wonderful for dogs and kids...of all ages! - We loved that the kids could explore safely and we're welcomed (went to see the new calves). Our dog didn't want to leave as she thought she was a farm dog! It was just very relaxing (well as much as you can with kids!). The fridge needs replacing but hey ho we managed.
- Babs (10/5): Paradise with a hot-tub! - Hosts were very friendly and helpful, even kept the firewood topped up for the fire-pit! Scenery is amazing great location for walks etc. The hot-tub was fantastic after a day spent exploring!
- Gary (10/5): Loved it. - Fantastic property, especially liked the hot tub! Has everything we needed, views were great; it’s in a remote location so don’t expect anything to be nearby, (this is ideal for a quiet retreat or as a base), although most of what you need (like Tesco etc) is within a 10 mins drive and there is the loch nearby where you can do water sports etc if that’s your thing, but for our purposes it was ideal. Hosts are amazing. Nothing is too much trouble, very friendly. Definitely would recommend. Nothing to do with the property, but everything local (pubs, restaurants etc) did seem to close / stop serving very early, (except Tesco which is open until 10pm), so make sure you go out for an early dinner or have supplies to cook at the cottage!
- Faye (9/5): Superb -
- David (7/5): Nice view - Location was good, what we were looking for and quite scenic. Functionality of the house was good. Price good. There were complaints within the group on the cleanliness of the kitchen. Rooms, bedding and bathroom all fine but if you're going to provide kitchen facilities and cutlery, pots and pans etc, you cannot rely on guests to leave everything spotless. You must ensure they're clean yourself.
Also, shared use of hot tub (with owners family) is a bit strange I would propose and not recommended. 😑
- Ronnie (5/5): Property needs updating -
- Yvonne (10/5): Exceptional - Peaceful and relaxing beautiful scenery Nothing
- Victoria (10/5): Beautiful cottage - Great location, clean and tidy house, friendly host, great value.. hot tub a huge bonus
- Caroline (7/5): Great location and great hosts, but a disappointment overall. - Hosts lovely.
Good base to get to places. House is in need of a total re haul. The kitchen works, but all cupboards old and lots of broken draws. Equipment all bought from pound shop.
The double bed is uncomfortable and mattress of poor quality. I had two nights of no sleep due to the bed.
This is a great place for a family of 6 staying. It’s great for a family base with kids. But there is no, no luxury here.
WiFi poor, but you are in the countryside.
Didn’t use the hot tub because when we got there , there was a used plaster at the
bottom of the tub. I was reassured that it had been treated. But I couldn’t get this image of a used plaster, off someone’s toe, out of my head.
It’s a great location and the hosts were lovely. But this place needs some money spending on it, to bring it up to a better standard.
- Gary (10/5): Perfect family stay , fantastic views, excellent hosts. - The location of the cottage is stunning and very easy to find. We would nt change a thing, very relaxing , comfortable stay. The kids were so happy they loved the hot tub, could nt get them out . The hosts were brilliant had a fantastic stay thank you x Nothing.
- Carrielouw (10/5): Amazing Family Weekend - Location was amazing. Cottage was well equipped and clean. Lyndsey was very helpful with suggestions of things to do.The walk behind the cottage was lovely to do with the dog. Nothing
- Leigh (10/5): Lovely little getaway - Lovely little place. Nice and quiet.
Lovely owner too . And Cruz is class.
Hot tub great, and has Bluetooth speaker to chill with music.
Kids loved to explore.
Dog loved his walks around.
Loved it here
Has everything you need for home from home.
Plenty of places around to explore.
Lovely spacious bedrooms aswell. And REALLY comfy beds.
Walk in shower as well as bath.
Nice and bright and airy Just wish we could have stayed longer. 😪
- Emma (9/5): Perfect 1 night stopover for 3 adults & 3 kids. - Very good value. No outside table.
- Wayne (9/5): Lovely pre-wedding stay - We loved the cottage, really great value for money, excellent hot tub. Amazing views The host was lovely and friendly. Leaky tap in bathroom, nothing major at all
- Jules (6/5): Great place if you’re happy to trade comfort for location and price! - The location of the property is perfect - stunning view of the fields, loch and little village. The double bedroom also had a great view looking down the valley, and the sunsets were beautiful. The hot tub is a really great addition and we thoroughly enjoyed using it, whilst admiring the view. The host was lovely and really helpful and friendly. The cottage has SO much potential, but currently, it is in need of a re-vamp. The kitchen and bathroom both need replacing and bringing up to current standards. The beds were very uncomfortable - the mattresses need replacing and the pillows and duvets were not much better. However, the current state of the cottage reflects the price, and if changes are made, prices will go up and may out-price some families. However, I’d be happy to pay more for the extra comfort.

- Darren (10/5): Airdside Cottage The Jewel of Dumfries & Galloway - What a lovely host, accommodation and picture post card location. Having stayed in coastal areas of SW Scotland in the past, we fancied something a little bit different. Airdside Cottage didn't disappoint. From the moment we arrived both Lindsey and her lovely dog made us feel so very welcome.. It really was a home from home and even better than described. The bonus feature was the private hot tub in the grounds, just across from the cottage, which was loved by each member of our party.
We opted for a mix of cooking meals at the cottage and eating out. With facilities including an air fryer and full oven and hob, this made cooking even a home cooked steak dinner a treat.
We didn't take advantage this time, but there is an opportunity to walk to higher ground within the farm for some fabulous views of the area. Local amenities wise there is a small quaint pub The Thistle Inn serving drinks and has a restaurant for meals as well as a nearby shop which includes post office services a mile or so away in the village of Crossmichael. A littler over 4 miles away is the lovely traditional town of Castle Douglas with eateries, cafes and a Tesco and B&M store amongst other offerings.. Dumfries and the coastal areas are also easy to reach by car. Castles, historic monuments and impressive Lochs also heavily feature, many within 30 minutes or so drive from the cottage. Ayr, Glasgow, Edinburgh etc are all driveable but at much further distances away.
In summary, a relaxing, comfortable and magical break was had by each member of our party and we will be back😊. Thank you again to Lindsey for such a lovely experience. Nothing all was as exoected and more.
- Joanne-lou (8/5): Lovely cottage - Lovely place, lovely host Weather bad but it was beginning of March!
- Caroline (10/5): Exceptional -
- Leo (10/5): Best value hot tub in D&G - I just love this cottage, this was my second visit. Great views of local hills and the loch, plus there's a bath. And we were stargazing in the hot tub! Can't beat it for good value in D&G. Will be back! Would advise bringing a torch/camping lantern to get to the hot tub, as the automatic lights don't always come on when you need them
- Emma (10/5): We had an amazing time and was a very relaxing break ,we all loved it . - The location was great for things to do with the kids ,the hosts were amazing. We had such a good time and have already booked another two trips to go back .
- Mike (9/5): Superb - Secluded and peaceful N/A
- Arron (10/5): Exceptional -
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- David (8/5): Absolutely ideal for our stay. - No breakfast. Location ideal No Dishwasher. Mend leaking hot tap in kitchen. Chest of drawers in mid bedroom needs renewal
- Craig (8/5): Very good -
- Peter (8/5): Very good -
- Adam (9/5): Superb -
- Houston (10/5): Exceptional -
- Heidi (8/5): Very good - Not there fault as it Nature but we were keep up alot in the night by scratching and squeaking sound not sure if it was bat or bird but was very loud on the roof
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional - Loved the hot tub - great place if going to Galloway Activity Centre as 10 minutes away
Plenty of things to do in area
- Stephen (10/5): Loved our stay.Wish we had booked extra days - We were self catering Everything was great.😃
- Anonymous (7/5): enjoyed my stay but disappointment that I didn’t get whole time there we fid get one night free in guest house but it wa - enjoyed the hot tub and bbq PATS test equipment 2021 ? health and safety ?
- Naseera (7/5): Good -
- Leo (10/5): Idyllic, with loch views - Enjoyed the views of Loch Ken and the red kites and other birds flying about. Had a few baths and enjoyed the hot tub, ate some apples that had fallen from the tree, sat on the grass in the lovely garden, had breakfast by the lily pond, tried out the hammock. Idyllic!! And Lindsey was very welcoming and helpful. Great value too.
- Stuart (6/5): Pleasant - Excellent place for making a base for touring
- David (10/5): A peaceful getaway in a beautiful location with welcoming hosts - Beautiful location Nothing
- Urszula (8/5): We definitely recommend for families. - The host was very friendly and always available on site.
We had lovely stay and children enjoyed watching working farm.
We value peace and quiet of the house, the closeness of nature in the area, beautiful views, yet close enough to shops, restaurants and pubs (10mins drive).
The house was well equipped, warm, clean and cosy. We were glad that there was a lot of tourists information, guides and leaflets on local attractions.
There were few things we thought were missing like oven gloves or enough blankets but the host took it on board and likely sorted for next holidays makers. The visit to A&E after touching a bat bare hands when they decided to visit one night. Always use gloves! Or switch the lights off, open windows wide and leave them alone and they will find their way home.
- Kelma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Glady (9/5): Superb -
