Guest Reviews
- Isabel (10/5): ✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️ - Lovely setting on a well managed quiet campsite. Beautiful serene walks through the forest right next to it, lots of wildlife too.
Cottage has own parking space and a little secure area for the dog to play, and the main section is bathed in sun all day. Theres a shop with bits n bobs that also does fresh pizza cooked to order in 10mins. Cottage had all ypu could need for a break away. Also good access to M50. Radiators in situ but didnt come on and no thermostat, only an electric heater in main area so bathroom was a little chilly (April), soon warmed up in use. That being said it wouldnt stop me returning!
- Donna (10/5): Comfortable, and wonderful - Cosy little cottage, in a great location. Staff on site and really helpful, friendly, and available for any issues. The cottage is on a small campsite (which had great spaces for kids), in a beautiful area with lots of woodland walks directly from the site.
The bed in the cottage was lovely and comfy and was a perfect little space for me and my dog. Secure courtyard at front to sit out in and let dog be free. Parking right outside. Not a criticism but just to warn the staircase is a little steep (and open) if you have limited mobility
- Michael (4/5): - Cheap & Cheerful I'm 5 foot 9 inches but still managed to crack my head three times in four day! The toilet was as far away from the bedroom as it could be. Navigation at night with a small open stairway made life difficult. Very cobwebby! Both the bed and the settee were relatively uncomfortable, Glad we were out each day and only used the cottage as a base of operation.
- Helen (10/5): - Lovely cottage and my puppy loved it
- Judith (8/5): A cosy, comfortable placeto get away . - Fiona met us on arrival and was very friendly and helpful. She showed us round and checked we had everything we needed. The cottage is a warm, cosy, comfortable space perfect for a short stay to explore the area. Lovely woodland walks on your doorstep, great for the dogs but also to spot birds and deer. Nothing

- Christine (10/5): A lovely dog friendly place to stay for a quiet few days. - This cottage was ideal for a quiet and peaceful few days that were desperately needed.
I and my dog loved the pet friendly enclosed courtyard garden. Nothing
- Vivienne (6/5): Convenient for where we wanted to stay - The bed was very comfortable and the skylight was brill as you could look at stars from bed.
Welcome pack was gratefully received after our long journey.
Good location for local attractions and walks. Good facilities if you have a dog. The stairs are very narrow and steep, had to be very careful not to bump head, could do with a luminous strip on header for if you get up in the night to go to downstairs loo. We had to leave hall light on to prevent this.
Shower wasnt very good, couldnt get temp right and water pressure was very low, not good if your tall either as celing so low, perhaps take bath out and put stand alone shower in.
As dogs welcome it smelt a bit wet doggy, such as on sofa and cushions, as we dont gave dogs this was noticable
- Hilary (10/5): It was so comfortable - It was a really cosy cottage, one that we could live in There wasn’t anything we didn’t like
- Mary (10/5): Clean, comfortable and value for money, - On arrival we were upgraded to Robins Nest, so can only comment on that, Robins Nest was amazing. There was nothing we didn’t like.
- Natalie (9/5): Superb -
- Christopher (7/5): Good -
- Paul (8/5): Very good - Small, but very well kept cottage. The weather had suddenly got colder, especially in the evening, and there was only an electric heater working in the lounge.
- Jeff (9/5): Loved it. Would return in a heartbeat - The location is fantastic. Lovely walks through the woods are right on the doorstep. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The cottage was perfect for what I wanted - a base to explore the region for a couple of days - clean, well-equipped and very close to amenities. Lovely little private courtyard This is not a moan - I'm 6'1" and due to the age of the building, the ceilings are low. If you're my height or above, then you'll either need to mind your head in most parts of the accommodation. Just an FYI if you intend to spend much of the time indoors, but if you do you'll be missing out on the real reason for being in this part of the world.
- Nadine (10/5): We had a lovely break at blue bell cottage , and the host was fabulous ! - Tranquility Nothing
- Nicola (8/5): Beautiful cosy cottage. - Beautiful cottage perfect for the two of us. Kitchen was well equipped and bed was comfy. The radiator upstairs wasn't working well but the host dealt with it quickly by providing a heater.
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was well impressed on our arrival There was nothing not to like
- Martin (8/5): lovely well kept surroundings - A very peaceful location , with plenty of walking available in surrounding countryside. staff on site very helpful , nothing to much to aid and help your stay go smooth . shame there were several cobwebs the only fault sorry.but all else was beautiful thank you
- Geoffrey (10/5): It was great! - It was a very quiet location and not too far from the motorway. However, it was the end of the season for the camping site, and that area and the on-site shop were closed, which suited us fine. Milk, tea, and coffee were supplied for our arrival. It was a warm, cosy property for our short stay, and we enjoyed it very much. There was nothing wrong with the property or the site itself, but the access road and small lanes in the area could use some improvement.
- Shannon (9/5): Amazing, we loved it and we’ll be back in a few weeks 😁 - It was clean and cosy, value for money, beautiful style within the property. There was nothing to not like about this property! Staff was so friendly and welcoming. Beautiful area
- Todd (10/5): Exceptional -
- Philip (10/5): Nice 3 night stay. Easy check in. Friendly staff. - Well equipped. Cosy. Nothing.
- Chloe (10/5): Delightful property - Easy to find and good parking. We only used the property for evening meals and to sleep, but the outside space looked well kept and dog proof. Even though on a busy camp site, did feel like we had privacy The stairs, whilst fine for us, would be a hazard for some
- Amanda (10/5): A lovely place to stay -
- David (8/5): Very good - Very nice cottage style chalet, very quiet & peaceful surroundings, helpful hosts.
Would stay there again.👍👍 Not a thing.
- Ambridge (6/5): My thoughts on Bluebell. - Presentable, cosy cottage with a comfortable bed in an idyllic, nice location. Handy parking space exclusively for guests staying at the cottage. Cottage was cold. Central heating that you can't turn on, one small electric heater in the living room which works but isn't effective. No electric heater or such like in the bedroom. So really quite cold!
Cottage could have been cleaner. The sink was very dirty, the oven wasn't particularly clean or the bathroom. Many areas weren't to my liking in terms of cleanliness anyway. Kitchen tap leaks very badly, and it would have been nice to have had a kettle that wasn't caked in limescale; very off-putting for using it.
- Peter (8/5): Good relaxing - Peaceful and staff friendly Low ceiling was a bit tricky for taller people
- Jennifer (9/5): Superb -
- Richard (9/5): Great stay, we liked it that much booked for the same time next year. - Great location, a short drive to all the locations in and around the area. Nothing
- Michele (10/5): Great weekend getaway - The staff were all so kind and friendly. Couldn't fault anything
- Vanessa (9/5): Perfect escape from the busy south coast. Absolutely loved our stay. Great location for exploring. Would definitely reco - The cottage was quaint with lots of character and perfect for two. Low beams so be careful if above 5’10 There was nothing not to like, it was comfortable, well equipped and quiet. This on the edge of the caravan site so further amenities available with small shop, games room and freshly made yummy pizzas.
- Karen (8/5): Very good -
- Paul (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sandra (7/5): Good - Nice comfortable small cozy cottage.
- Tracey (10/5): Very relaxing and pleasant stay. Staff were amazing place was tranquil and peaceful. I would recommend this site to cam - Clean, relaxing. Small with everything you could need.
Small is not a negative. It’s fab for a couple and dogs. Outside space is lovely and relaxing. Dog proof too. It was all good. No negatives here.
- Sue (8/5): Warm welcome and well equipped - Very well equipped- had everything you could need. Lovely cottage. Perfect for a couple. Shower was difficult to use for someone 6ft.
- Joanne (7/5): Good -
- Debra (10/5): Wonderful - see photos of night sky (under bathroom tab) - Excellent location based on a beautiful campsite , no light pollution which for us is a plus , lovely quaint comfortable cottage , greeted with a packet of cookies and a pint of milk which was very welcome after a long journey. Ideal location for Ross-On-Wye and surrounding villages ….perfect for Forest Of Dean ….just perfect 👌🏼 Nothing
- Teresa (9/5): Would definitely recommend and advise you go for longer than 2 days! - On arrival, Fiona was there to greet us. She was so friendly and explained where everything was.
We loved the little enclosed garden, perfect for our dog, didn't have to worry about her getting out.
The cottage inside was beautiful, so cosy. Fiona had left us some yummy chocolate biscuits, tea, coffee, sugar and milk so thoughtful of her. It was really peaceful which is just what we wanted, we sat outside with a glass of wine and enjoyed the amazing views. The location was perfect for exploring the area. 2 days wasn't long enough!!z We found the stairs very narrow and steep and there was nothing to hold onto at the top of the stairs.
Because of this, it made us both very nervous so much so, I decided to sleep on the floor downstairs which wasn't ideal but better than falling down the stairs!
The only other thing, I wish there was a doggy area in the grounds to let your dog off the lead for a run, which was a shame.
- Margaret (9/5): Brilliant, we thoroughly enjoyed it and would happily stay again. - The bed is so comfortable. The area around the property is beautiful, plenty of places to visit. The people that own the property are very friendly and helpful. The patio garden is completely fenced off so perfect for dogs. The only thing we thought the place needed was a blind or curtain on the window near the front door. First thing in the morning when your going to the fridge for milk or going to the toilet when your not properly dressed it might be embarrasing if anyones nearby. Other than that the house was perfect for us.
- Mary (10/5): Quirky cottage. Quiet site. Great area. - Bluebell cottage was a quaint, comfortable and peaceful place to stay. My little dog enjoyed the secure garden too. There was nothing not to love.
- Moz (10/5): Quiet, spacious, tidy. - Quiet, decent facilities, plenty of parking. Short drive to M50.
- Robert (4/5): Disappointing - Nice setting The bed was uncomfortable. The TV reception kept breaking up. No hair dryer. No iron. No complimentary toiletries. The central heating was controlled by the owners, so some nights we were cold. We had to switch on the electric wall heater which I got frowns from the owner when I told him. I got the impression that he didn't like us using it!! The wall lights had no lamp shades which looked a bit tatty!!
- Peter (10/5): lovely little cottage - Lovely little cottage set on a quiet caravan site with excellent access to walks. Dog friendly and the perfect little getaway for a few nights. The cooking facilities are great and you get access to the shared facilities on the caravan site. Host was great and they do pizzas to order There was nothing significant not to like. We couldn't find a cheese grater but in the grand scheme of things this is not really anything to complain about.
- Owen (8/5): Very good -
- James (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mark (9/5): Superb - We loved the little cottage, it was comfortable, had character, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
