• Guest (7/5): - Nice simple property with a good garden area. Felt secure staying with my family. Only 1 bathroom for 4 people to use. Also no exhaust fan, so there was a foul smell and we had to open the bathroom window to improve the ventilation. Only 1 soap or set of shampoo & body lotion for 4 people.

• Wilhelmien (6/5): Nice place, but not the best - The host was very friendly and the villa was beautiful. Spacious room with good air conditioning and a clean bed. A mosquito net would have been nice though. Nice they offer breakfast too. Unfortunately, this wasn't my best stay. My booking was overlooked, and the host spoke little English, making communication difficult. I saw cockroaches in the bathroom; but the host provided me with a spray which worked well. The internet went down, preventing me from ordering a tuktuk. The offered ride by the hotel was twice as expensive as via Pick Me, and discussing this was challenging. Eventually, I took the bus and reached the airport just in time.

It's important, if you want to stay longer than 1 night. Hole in the bathroom ceiling, the shower was a bit dirty. There was a cockroach in the room.

• Nienke (1/5): A no go for families with little kids - It’s at a good location, close to the airport. As a family of four with little kids, this was not the place to be. There were no sheets, molt on the walls and people with bear chests with only a towel on their bodies were walking around (probably because not all rooms have showers). Until 2am noises came from the other rooms and communal space. Not a place for a family to stay the night, not even for a stopover.

• Ash (10/5): Perfect stay in Negombo - Lovely, comfortable stay with a very welcoming host. The room was really big and air con worked great! There was also a table area upstairs with fans which was great for doing a few hours work! Perfectly located near the airport so perfect after flying in or before flying out. Nothing, it was great!

• Shadman (9/5): Brilliant! A hidden gem in Negombo! - Great experience! We booked 3 separate rooms but for some unavoidable reasons, they couldn’t provide us with that. So, they were kind enough to give us a discount (and an adjoining family room which worked for us). Apart from that everything was as pictured on booking.com. The whole place was really clean and well managed. The rooms and bathrooms were squeaky clean and came with basic amenities. The location is also convenient as there are restaurants within walking distance. The staff were also great and really helpful. Overall, really enjoyed our stay at Howick residence. Almost a perfect stay, no complaints!

• Raghavendra (6/5): Comfortable stay - This stay is very close to the BIA Airport. They have a small lawn with a mango tree, Grapefruit and Papaya trees. It's big and spacious. The caretaker Bala has made sure that our stay was comfortable. There were a few small things which could have been taken care of. 1. The toilet was unclean initially. After reporting, they cleaned it immediately. 2. The solar heater didn't work. We all had to bathe with cold water. Looks like they have fixed it after we checked out.

• Bianca (7/5): Great value for money but thin walls and therefore no long sleep. - We arrived at 3am and they were waiting for us. Extremely friendly hosts! With regards to the price and what you get (including breakfast) it‘s more than good. It‘s not the cleanest and from very early in the morning you hear everyone walking and talking. The doors and walls are thin, therefore you‘ll hear everything.

Was told breakfast was at 9am and I had to debate for 8am because I had to get to the airport. They then knocked on my door at 7am to say breakfast was waiting. No fruit. Just an egg and toast that I couldn't eat. Bugs in the juice so I passed on that. When I arrived they didn't seem to be expecting me and they didn't seem to know what they were doing though they were very nice. The family watched tv all evening in the sitting area so I just sat on my bed with nowhere to go sit, like on a balcony. Definitely better around the airport for the price.

• Gobshizzle (7/5): Meh - The location is convenient for the airport. Was a bit of a strange stay. When I arrived, I was told to sit in the living room. A guy arrived after about 10 minutes and ignored me and got on his phone (I don't know if he was looking for my booking or something, but after a long train journey, all I wanted to do was check in). I've had much better breakfasts in Sri Lanka.
• Maya (4/5): Passable unless desperate - Disappointed in my stay overall but grateful I was picked up by a Tuk Tuk at 4am and safely driven here to check in at an inconvenient time. The main reason is no hot shower (despite letting the staff know) which was very much needed after flying for 36 hrs whilst nursing a fever and a cold. The room and bathroom were clean but the towels felt old and were very much bin-worthy now. The breakfast was an egg and two questionable sausages. Followed by stale toast and fluorescent excuse for a jam. This was eaten whilst battling the many flies flying around and ants crawling all over the floor as well as up your legs. This was indoors, not outside. The location is odd. Not quite sure why there’s a guesthouse here. It’s located at the end of a road which mostly has falling down wooden shacks. The main road is just busy and polluted. When I asked for somewhere to have dinner I was pointed to this road. I ended up with a take away from Uber eats. Lastly, there was one available socket in the room which was a little annoying. Especially that it was not near the bed. In summary, I’d expect places near airports to be basic yet comfortable yet this was not quite up to scratch.
