Guest Reviews
- Cheryl (1/5): Terrible damp caravan - Nothing Everything
- Florentine (9/5): - Loved the location, size and layout of caravan, large windows with views onto paddocks and countryside, the warmth and cozyness of van and how well equipped it was - complete with Christmas decorations.. What a fabulous setting for the beautiful snowfall we had Mattress was a bit saggy and van dated, but that was reflected in price
- Theekshana (10/5): Excellent - Surrounded by a horse training school and a farm, the property had everything we needed. Very close to the Dunnotar castle.
- Christine (8/5): - Location is excellent. Steps to the caravan were very deep. Difficult to get up for anyone who is older with arthritis or a disability.
- Karen (10/5): Peacefull stay in a well equiped caravan with lovely views. Lorna was very welcoming and helpful - Well equiped, dog friendly, caravan in a lovely area with friendly staff, loved watcing the horses We only booked for 3 nights and could have stayed longer but we had work commitments
- Hindle (10/5): -
- Mark (8/5): - A nice caravan. A little outdated but that didnt effect my stay. It is cosy and has everything we needed. Good instructions for location which were definitely needed. Again a bit outdated. Old fires, old shower and toilet facilities. It was freezing on arrival but got it warmed up eventually. Didnt realise location was on a farm, so not really my thing with nothing at location to do and just horses. Hard to find but ok with instructions. Bed mattresses too thin so not very comfy or bouncy.
- Pavla (3/5): - The location and scenery was lovely. Watching the horses and riding lessons We expected an old caravan, but it was grimy and sticky and mouldy. We left a night early as it was hard to be comfortable with the level of grottiness.
- Mike (1/5): -
- Caie (10/5): We had a very comfortable stay. Everyone at the stables were really friendly. Would definitely recommend for a break. - Very quiet location. Nothing
- jean michel (10/5): Stay in Stonehaven - Really good welcoming from the owner. Nothing.
- Khan (10/5): Amazing caravan and location - Caravan, is so well kitted out and comfortable with everything you need. The location is amazing, set inside a riding school with views of beautiful horses and the sea. The caravan has a gorgeous decking area set amongst beautiful green fields over looking the sea. All the attractions of Stonehaven are a short 5 to 10 min drive away. Had the best family trip. We walked around the stables /farm and met the most gorgeous unique and friendly animals
- Alan (9/5): I had a wonderful stay at Rowanlea Caravan, Halymyres Stables. The caravan was clean, comfortable, a - I really liked how comfortable and well-equipped the caravan was, with everything needed for a relaxing stay. Watching the horses and riders in the arena was a real highlight, and the nearby countryside trails made it perfect for peaceful walks. The dial for the lower oven didn’t match up with what the gas was doing so I didn’t trust it too much, although everything remained at a more than acceptable standard for a very comfortable stay.
- Carolyn (7/5): - Excellent location. Central to where we were visiting. Neat and compact van. Caravan was slightly flooded when we arrived. Leaking tap in bathroom. Could have been cleaner.
- Jaroslav (8/5): - Amazing place close to Stonehaven and Dunnotar Castle. Very nice and helpful owner

- Wendy (5/5): Passable - Location was fine for our purposes. Luckily we had good weather or it could be a bit bleak otherwise. Not too far from the town but not easily walkable. It was nice watching the horses being put through their paces as we were right beside the outdoor manege. Caravan rather old and shabby, bedding in dire need of renewing. We were late arriving so did not expect to be met but during our stay no one approached us except via one of the riding staff to ask if everything was OK. A few days later a little boy came to give us some eggs which was very good but no one made their presence known to us. Not having had experience of a caravan before I was not expecting anything more than we got but it could have been better.
- Laing (3/5): Poor - I enjoyed the area very much. And loved watching the horses.
- Patricia (7/5): Loved it and will miss the view from the double bedroom when the sun comes up in the morning and shines across the sea - Super location. Rural with exceptional views. Easy access to main A90 and the more scenic A92 coastal road. Surrounded by fields of horses. Able to watch horse riders jumping their horses right outside the caravan. I was there with my son to visit family and it suited us perfectly. The caravan is old and shows signs of age, but for our purposes, I wouldn’t consider that a negative. Shower was better than expected. The steps up to the caravan are very steep.
- Andy (8/5): Comfortable, made to feel welcome. - At a steadings with lots of horses back and forward. Was an event on too which was interesting to watch. Lots of petting of horses, and there are donkeys, goats, sheep too. You can ride the horses/have lesson/go for a hack too.
Caravan has all the stuff you need for a few days away. WiFi is 70Meg so very fast.
Caravan has a sea view, barbeque facilities, and seating area for sitting in the sun and burning logs.
- Magdalena (10/5): Exceptional - We loved the views, the surroundings. It is lovely to wake up surrounded by fields and horses with beautiful sea view. Being able to pet the friendly ponies was the best, they're such a fun lot. The caravan is very spacious clean and comfortable. It has utensils, kitchen and plenty of heaters which is great if you get cold often. Really cosy, unique experience. We liked everything, just bear in mind there is only two caravans next to each other, it's not an area situated with many. It's directly on the farm which is fantastic.
- Armands (9/5): Superb - sunrise, good location and very quiet.
- Keza (10/5): Sensational place to stay, amazing countryside and views. Staff were amazing, always there to help. -
- Li (10/5): Very nice experience. The staffs are very nice. Thanks! - It’s very cozy stay. Provides basic needs for us.
- Mary (8/5): A good place to stay for us, would definitely go again as benefits outweigh the disadvantages. - Location great for us, near town, quiet and farm/horse property is something we’re used to.
Comfy bed, everywhere clean and tidy. Clean bedding towels etc
No rules and regulations pinned up everywhere. We could take the dog, everyone friendly.
TV and free Wi-Fi with good reception. Plenty of heaters. Caravan was not as modern as I expected, couches not very comfortable for relaxing.
- Aaron (9/5): Superb -
- Ann (4/5): Disappointing - I liked the area views were lovely I did not like that the accommodation was very badly in need of renovating. The bedroom window was shattered and taped up. The headboard was old dirty and split. There was a hole under the vynil in front of the kitchen sink. The blinds were all broken. The place is in a bad state of repair and needs painted.
- Julie (2/5): Very dirty, - Location It was dirty.
- Julie (10/5): 3rd stay here. Plan to be back again. Fantastic staff. - Every thing we needed. Great free WiFi. Outside area very good with bbq and fire pit.
- Clive (9/5): Will visit again - Peacefull Mckenzie very helpful All perfect
- Julie (10/5): Lovely place to stay for a peaceful break. - Caravan is very clean and equipped. Clean fresh bedding and towels. BBQ and fire pit 😃 horse riding 😃
- Nichola (10/5): Exceptional - Beautiful location. The caravan is basic but very clean and comfortable. Really enjoyed our stay.
- Julie (10/5): Amazing stay at the farm. Would definitely recommend. - Caravan is old but in good condition. Everything we needed was there.
- Cindy (10/5): Exceptional - The people, the horses and location
- Andrew (10/5): Exceptional - How big the caravan was and it had everything you could have asked for Water pressure couldn't have a shower
- Gabriel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Laura (1/5): Bad - Avoid at all costs. Booked 3 nights, didn't even last 12 hours as the accommodation wasn't safe! My 13 year old recieved a shock from the black heater! Thankfully he wasn't hurt! The boiler clearly looks burnt and shouldered, with no indication as to if or when it'd been serviced.
I tried contacting owners, who just ignored messages and have refused a refund.
We. Weren't looking for a Palace, we just wanted somewhere clean and safe to enjoy some quality family time.
Had to book accommodation with rooms at 31 in Stonehaven, who I'd highly recommend as the owners actually care about their clients welfare. Everything. Never experienced such awful customer service in my life. Absolutely shocking behaviour.
- Christine (5/5): Everything you need but more attention is needed with the cleaning. - A good night sleep. Caravan very old and tired. More attention to detail with the cleaning is needed , the bathroom in particular.
- Callum (7/5): Enjoyed really good -
- Anthony (1/5): Very unpleasant - Location was ok Caravan was very old and not clean. Dirty grill pan in oven. Greasy fingerprints on TV and fire. Shower stained with rusty watermarks from leaking skylight, couldn't use it. Moss growing on outside of some windows. No baking tray in kitchen. We had to leave early.
- Olawale (7/5): Good -
- Khan (10/5): Exceptional - A cute traditional caravan set in the most stunning location, overlooking fields with grazing horses and the North Sea. Loved the private garden area with BBQ and furniture and spent a lot of time out there with my little dog. The children loved walks around the farm seeing the beautiful animals. Had some amazing peaceful walks during the sunset and whole area and skies were stunning. The horse owners were very kind and friendly with us and staff always helpful when we had a query. Caravan equipped with everything you could think of and very spacious! Just a 5 minute drive from the beautiful seaside town of Stonehaven. Great place if for nature lovers, horse whisperers and if you love the sea. Nothing
- Marcus (8/5): Relaxing break in Scotland - Lovely location close to Stonehaven harbour. Caravan was clean and well presented. Everyone at the farm/stables were really friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
- Olga (10/5): Really good! Highly recommend for a short break in a beautiful Aberdeenshire. - I really liked the fabulous location, gorgeous views, ability for my kids to have horse riding lessons and hacks; closeness to Stonehaven and to Dunnottar Castle; Netflix on TV; lovely patio area next to the caravan. There were only two caravans, so it felt very cosy and personal to be there. The staff was always friendly and happy to help. The steps to the caravan could do with some TLC.
- It would be nice to have a little drying screen in the caravan or a whirly gig + pegs next to it.
- Salman (10/5): Exceptional -
- Melissa (10/5): Wonderful stay perfect location with family and furry member of the family - Our host Fiona was so lovely able to tell us a lot about the surrounding area and always there to help when needed. The highlight for our daughters was seeing the horses every morning from the window. They even enjoyed their ride on Atlas and Arron, lead by Chloe and her colleague who were fantastic. It is the perfect place outside from bustling Stonehaven but with in walking distance. A 5min drive to the must see Dunnottar castle. A big thank you to Fiona for hosting us and we look forward to coming back.
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional - Had a lovely relaxing stay, caravan was clean and had a well equipped kitchen, bed linen and towels clean and fresh. Lovely peaceful location and only a few minutes from Stonehaven.
- Viv (5/5): A little bit disappointing - The location is very handy for the lovely town of Stonehaven. It is quiet with the only noise coming from the horses, which was lovely. You can see the sea from the caravan. The tv worked very well as did the wifi. We got complimentary eggs which were delicious. The caravan needs some TLC. There were at least 3 clocks which didn't work. There were no lampshades on the reading lights in the bedroom. The kitchen lacked some strange things, like wine glasses and side plates and the only refreshment left for starters was a jar of coffee. You need to bring everything, salt and pepper, oil, tea, sugar etc. The bed and bedding are a bit basic but clean. The second bedroom, which we didn't use is very small - probably not for adults.
- Darren (8/5): Very good -
- Katherine (9/5): Superb - Children loved being on a farm. Their highlight of the holiday was pony riding. Staff were friendly. Great location for local attractions.
