Guest Reviews
- Catherine (6/5): Pleasant -
- Soumya (7/5): Good - Location was very good, near to the town centre, just opposite of bus stop. Very clean and well decorated. 1. Big issue is the sound came from bathrooms when we flush out or used shower.
2. Rooms are very small, even door can not be open fully due to the big bed in a small room.
3. Water leakage from the roof of the ground floor under the washroom.
- Romayne (8/5): Very good -
- Jonathan (5/5): Unnecessarily chaotic start to holiday due to owners offering 1 property under 2 different listings - Didnt get to see much of the property due to double booking. Looked nice. Please see the booking.com review for "Scandale Bridge Cottage" by Sandeep from Kenya Reviewed on 18 July 2024 - we were the party that were double booked due to the fact that "Scandale Bridge Cottage" and "Scandale Cottage" are one and the same property despite having two seperate listings on Booking.com. We noticed the two listings when we booked the property back in April but assumed there were two properties on site. This was not the case and how this doesnt seem to happened before is beyond me. Indeed both listings for "Scandale Cottage" and "Scandale Bridge Cottage" are still both there as I type a month after the double-booking occured. Why the owners did this and continue to do this is a mystery. So be aware that no safeguards seem to be in place to prevent the same property being booked for the same dates under different property names. Whether this is due to malice or incompentence is difficult to say.
What I can report is that after the double booking was established, several hours was spent on the phone and email with the owners putting our party of 5 up in new properties booked by the owners with other companies. We lost half a days holiday due to this and were put up for one day in a (admittedly amazing) house and then the remaining 2 nights were in a caravan in a holiday park. Both these properties were several miles from the original booked location. Information regarding these new bookings were given piecemeal by the original owners. It was all in all just a massive neccessary hassle - my party was a group of friends who had only driven about 1-1.5 hours to get to Ambleside but if my party were a family and/or had travelled a lot further thisi review would be a LOT angrier.
The silver lining to all this is that booking.com themselves compensated us for all this without issue off the back of a single phone call.
- Ingram (8/5): Very good - Lovely spot just on the outskirts of the village ,really nice cottage with everything we needed
- Kate (10/5): A perfect base for our walking holiday - The property was so great! Spacious even though there were 7 of us! The location was so good as well, with access to a lot of amazing walks, our favourite being the Fairfield horseshoe. Couldn’t recommend this place enough, was the perfect base for our walking holiday. Nothing, it was all perfect.
- Andrew (9/5): Amazing location in the Lake District, spacious cottage - Great location 5 minute walk out of Ambleside. Clean and tidy, good car parking. Spacious cottage with small outdoor seating area The main bathroom requires work. Shower screen does not prevent water getting on floor and extraction fan not effective. A lot of effort needed drying the floor every time shower taken

- Nicholas (9/5): Superb -
