• Linda (10/5): Cynthia and David have created a haven for travelers! - We so enjoyed our stay at Wisteria Cottage. The rooms are nicely appointed and the garden is lovely. We couldn’t have been at a nicer spot for 3 days of downpour. We awoke to bird song daily.

Really nice host, friendly and caring. Private little cottage a short distance to the main house. Unfortunately the rope snapped on the hammock and my husband landed flat on his back..... Day 1. No one's fault, just one of those things. It did cause a lot of pain and stress. The owner was very caring and concerned, checking in with us often.

Russell is a small town but has all the necessary facilities and we enjoyed walking around the town and using the ferry to explore the area. We experienced a power outage one day (apparently not uncommon) but our host provided some portable lamps. It didn't last long. There was no washer/dryer but there was a public laundromat nearby in the town. Also, a small supermarket.
• Paul (10/5): Fabulous! - I rarely give reviews to places I stay because I travel so much but this one is def a 10/10. The dwelling is set in a beautiful garden and felt very peaceful. There is a wonderful attention to detail in the interior and had a warm welcome from David and his dog. It is close to everything but very quiet.

• Frank (10/5): Ideal spot in the centre of Russell, yet secluded and private. Beautiful, restful garden / location - The hosts, Cynthia and David, met us on arrival and are perfect hosts. Stunning location, a hop from the strand, Christ Church and everything else in Russell. Despite that, a beautiful oasis of a garden with plenty of natives. Easy walk to Long Beach, Flagstaff Hill. Great to have beach towels and robes provided as well as a huge assortment of tea + coffee (and milk in the 'fridge for that first cup).

• Cedric (10/5): Wisteria Cottage .. a special place to stay in Russell - In particular, our hosts Cynthia & Dave were great to deal with and we will be referring friends and family to stay at Wisteria Cottage when visiting the Bay of Islands Wisteria Cottage is very cozy accomodation just a two minute walk to the Russell waterfront and is in an idyllic setting with a beautiful huge old totara tree and a rimu tree set in a beautiful garden Plenty to do in Russell with great restaurants sitting alongside the historic Duke of Marlborough hotel, great water activities and including the beautiful Long Beach and Tapeka Beach just a kilometer away We will be returning to Wisteria Cottage and recomend it to you if you are planning a visit to Russell
• Alan (10/5): Wonderful stay in a beautiful location. - Wisteria Cottage is set in a beautiful garden in a great location. The bed was very comfortable and the shower excellent. We enjoyed eating breakfast in the garden and it was a very short walk to all the amenities in Russell and near the beautiful Long Beach. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners and plan to return.

• Catherine (10/5): We will not stay anywhere else on our next visit to Russell and highly recommend Wisteria Cottage! - Cynthia met us as soon as we arrived and showed us the cottage and explained everything available to us, and she also made a freezer available for extra frozen food we had. Cynthia made us extremely welcome and gve us information about the area, local restaurants and stores. We loved everything, the cottage is so tastefully decorated, thoughtfully and luxuriously furnished with a gorgeous bedroom, the garden is an oasis and so beautiful, quiet and peaceful. The parking is off street and secure. The location is perfect so close to the main street and waterfront,so we were able to walk to restaurants yet a flat easy walk a block or two away and back to serenity. Cynthia and David were avilable for anything we might need and yet our privacy was complete as well.

• George (6/5): Great location. - A great welcome from the hosts. Fantastic location. Beautiful garden It is really not possible to cook in the kitchen. There is a microwave, but the counter space for doing any chopping etc not really possible. You also have to go through the bathroom to get to the kitchen , which can be a bit of a nuisance. Unfortunately the hosts had to go away while we were there. Shortly after they left we had a power outage which left us with no internet for 2 days. The man who was house sitting for the hosts had no idea how to fix the issue . It’s a great location, but please don’t expect to cook anything there

Russell is lovely, with a beautiful foreshore with a waterfont path to walk along. On the other side of the path there is a good selection of restaurants and lots of pretty old timber buildings. Nil.
