Guest Reviews
- Gwennaël (8/5): -
- Mark (8/5): Not perfect, but better than Cancun - On the beach, nicer and cheaper than Cancun. Easier to walk. There was a coffee maker in the room, but no coffee for it.
- Lawrence (8/5): Would book studio again. Small but had everything we needed. - 1/3 mile from town. Enjoyed the walk Street noise from people going to beach.
- Leah (8/5): Nice hotelito just outside of town. - Private beach with chairs and umbrellas, clean, pool, helpful staff, quiet area, well-maintained, water provided Trash on beach, a bit far from town
- laurent (7/5): Vue imprenable au réveil - La localisation avec l’accès direct à la plage, parfait pour profiter du lever de soleil grâce au décalage horaire Le manque de pression, d’eau chaude et les oreillers trop gros
- Hila (1/5): Worst place to stay - We arrived to this place as family of 5 . We paid almost 600$ usd for two night.
As our kids got the shower it was frog 🐸🐸🐸 in the shower!!!!
On top of it . They didn't have hot water to take shower. We told it will take few minutes but we never he'd hot water and all of us got shower after the beach with cold water!!!
Alos we noticed it was banch of ants🐜🐜🐜 running on the counter top.
Felt like big jungle!!! The place we got was full of mold in the shower. Also the towels were not clean with Sain on them. Overall after we paid A LOT of money get yourself a favor and look for different place !!!!! We arrived to this place as family of 5 . We paid almost 600$ usd for two night.

- Fabien (7/5): Parfait pour Puerto Morelos avec un confort correct mais pas haut de gamme - L’emplacement en bordure de plage
La facilité d accès
La pisicine Équipement de cuisine un peu juste
- Maria (9/5): Great beachfront place, cozy, and amazing view that we can highly recommend! - Loved the view on second floor as you walk into the suite right into the living room. Comfy bedroom with AC was nice and quiet. The deck overlooking the grounds and beach was a big highlight. Location was quiet but walking distance to central. Nice kitchen with almost everything you need. No AC in the living room. Water pressure in shower was low. Paper towels or coffee filters would be a nice touch as we found ourselves unable to make coffee the first morning.
- Laura (7/5): - The beach was great, and always had chairs available. We didn't use the pool, but it looked clean. We had 2 days without hot water and had to move rooms because of the noisy air-conditioning compressor outside our window.
- Wyman (10/5): -
- Amy (3/5): -
- John (7/5): - Overpriced
- Carol (10/5): Awesome hotel - my favorite in PM. - beautiful-close to beach. Some of the rooms could use black out curtains from streetlights but I slept ok with a sleep mask.
- Tim (1/5): Dirty and not well cared for. - The beach location The property is run down, neglected, there is no pride of ownership. The rooms are dark, not a single lamp, black mold on the bathroom ceiling. The front door is a literal screen door with an aluminum panel, you can kick it open. The bathroom is disgustingly dirty, shower head has literally 2 streams of water, a hose spigot below it. The bathroom sink faucet is in terrible condition. The toilet is like a rocking chair it wobbles terribly and takes 4 flushes for a small amount of tissue.
Walls are in terrible need of paint.
If they put a bit of effort into the place it would be so nice to stay at.
Upon checking in, the guest ahead of us had just been robbed in the lobby. A criminal came in and grabbed her bag, she and her husband were both a bit shaken, the staff could care less. They shrugged it off as normal and called next in line. Meanwhile the criminal is being beaten up in the parking lot by the man who worked the desk.
If we had not prepaid we would have walked away.
DO NOT STAY HERE!

- Deirdre (9/5): Great location, lovely helpful staff and would definitely recommend. - Great location, right on the beach & easy access to restaurants & shops Shower & bedroom were basic, but all fine.
- Carol (9/5): Nice quiet place! - great quiet location
- Katarzyna (10/5): Amazing days on the beach! - This is perhaps the best location in Puerto Morelos. New staff is great, helpful and caring. I liked the umbrellas and chairs for the guests. Internet!
- Mark (9/5): quiet and delightful - great location very walkable, quiet direct beach access.
- SuperCooper (8/5): great - we liked proximity to town - 10 minute walk - and the beachfront location was great bathroom sink in kitchen
- Wiens (7/5): Great location on the beach - Location on the beach is great as well as proximity to the main part of town. Room was too small and not fully stocked. Not even a chair! Not enough blankets.
- Amichai (9/5): Lovely beach apartment for families - Lovely private beach area, nice spacious apartments, staff quickly repaired small issues There was loud construction noise one day but they stopped after we complained
- FindTao (7/5): Nice beach spot. - The beach in front of the hotel was great. The staff were very friendly. The pool was very small and the picture shown for our room were not accurate. Our room was still ok but i was lead to believe we would be looking at the beach from our room which was not the case as we were in blg number 2 which was across the back alley from the main building. Blg #2 did look newer and was comfortable but was not what I thought i had booked.
- Lisa (8/5): Consistently good place to stay - Love the beach area with palapas. Staff did not allow early check in although rooms were available. Very stuck on the RULES.
- Susan (9/5): - A fabulous quiet hotel right on the beach. My room was a studio and had every thing I needed for a 7 night stay. Microwave, coffee maker, small fridge and cups, glasses, plates, bowls and cutlery! I am single and travel alone and I felt very safe in the area where the hotel is. The beach in front is lovely and the lounging area had many chairs and palapas to enjoy! The staff were very helpful and friendly. The pool was a quiet haven with lounging chairs. Many times I was the only one at the pool. It is about a 15 minute walk into the central area with many shops and restaurants and there are 2 Beach Clubs within walking distance if you like a more vibrant daytime atmosphere! I will definitely stay here again! Thanks for a pleasant stay!
- Nancy (10/5): - Clean room with all the amenities that were advertised and what I was expecting. Excellent location right at the beach. The staff were exceptional, especially Dorea and Lesley at reception.
I will definitely stay here again. There was nothing I didn't like.
- Donna (8/5): Enjoyed our stay very much! - Super clean , affordable , a/c amazing , hot water perfect, comfy and staff were awesome . We had a view of the city and could see the ocean a little . The only thing about the property that I can think of is that the shower was completely not adjustable so you just had a lot of water spraying down on you all at once and could not control where it went and the drain in the shower filled up so you were standing in a pool of water. It didn’t drain well.
- Alix (10/5): Wonderful time - We loved the location, we could walk straight to the beach from our room. The bed was comfortable. The staff very professional and friendly. The slightly old fashioned style of the hotel is nice, it has the Puerto Morelos vibe, cute fisherman village. So peaceful and pretty.
- Julia (9/5): A wonderful seaside vacation. - The hotel has its own beach, and I think it's one of the best in this part of Puerto Morelos. The location is excellent—very convenient for getting around to restaurants, shops, and other attractions. Our room was great value for the money. The hotel staff was very helpful—at one point, they assisted us in calming down two rowdy neighbors who were playing loud music and behaving aggressively while intoxicated. nothing
- Yau (4/5): - On the beach Facility is old and dated
Flooding twice, due to aging bathroom and inexperienced maintenance person
Fixed shower head is way too high
- Charles (10/5): -
- Jose Eduardo (10/5): Hermosa ubicacion - Excelente salida a la playa Hace falta una cortina para el cancel de acceso a la playa
- Sheila (9/5): Will be back! - Love that the property is within walking distance or right on the beach (depending on which unit you are given). They have their own area with umbrellas and chairs so we didn't have to carry anything. The rooms were comfortable and clean. We loved having two bathrooms and a fridge! The pool was always maintained clean. Staff was friendly and offered cleaning as needed. There is no AC unit in the main living area but leaving one bedroom door open maintained it fresh. One of our bathroom doors did not latch properly. Minor inconveniences, everything else was great!
- Heleny (10/5): - A simple, easy place within walking distance of downtown and right on the beach. Staff is helpful and friendly.
- javier (10/5): -
- javier (10/5): -
- SLTE_MaBa (6/5): For me, who does not need much, it was good enough, but I'd say many others would not agree. - Communication with staff.
AC worked good. All is already quite run down and not nicely maintained, however it is Mexico.
Towels and bed sheets had spots or were torn slightly.
Sofa bed looked ugly.
Furnatures are cheap and worn.

Appartement vieillot
- Franklin (5/5): - No air conditioning on living room. Sofa beds were extremely dirty and old. Shower head too high. Refrigerator needs to be updated. Could not use living room to sleep it was too hot like a sauna. Ants all over rooms. Location was perfect. Staff very friendly and helpful. Location very safe and convenient. Please invest in updating furniture and air conditioning for all rooms. Add tv 's in bedrooms. Bed were nice and comfortable.
- Leila (10/5): Exceptional - I love the location, the room, and specifically Leslie the front desk lady. She’s so sweet and kind!!!
That was my third time staying at Arrecifes, and can’t wait to go back!!!
- Lukas (7/5): Nice Location to walk and swim, without Reparation too expensive. - Great Location, nice Beachwalk to the Center, staying directly at the Beach with Beach View, clean, Staff friendly, Free Parking very close to my Room. Apartment needs minor Reparation, Beachdoor could only open right side, Refrigerator too laud and too old, Shower worked but a little danaged, one chair is falling apart.
- Eneida (8/5): Great stay - Proximity to the beach Room was dated, couch was a little dirty. Shower a little moldy
- Bernadette (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jannino (7/5): Good -
- Jennifer (9/5): Superb -
- William (10/5): Was a nice place - On beach
- John (6/5): Great beachfront location and solid construction, but the outdated interior holds it back from its full potential. - Arrecifes Suites has a lot of potential, but it falls short due to its outdated interior. The location is absolutely fantastic—right on the beach, with beautiful views and easy access to the water. The building itself is well-constructed, sturdy, and feels solid, which is reassuring, especially in a coastal environment.
If you’re looking for a beachfront stay with a no-frills experience, it works. But if aesthetics and comfort are important to you, be prepared for a bit of a time warp inside. With some upgrades, this place could easily be one of the best spots in Puerto Morelos. However, the interiors are in serious need of an update. Everything from the furniture to the fixtures feels like it hasn’t been touched in decades. The rooms are clean but lack any modern touches, making the space feel tired and worn. If management would invest in a much-needed renovation, this could be a truly incredible place to stay.
- Ines (9/5): I had a great time. The staff were very kind and the place was clean. - The property was really clean with a pretty pool.
The bed was comfy. The bathroom shower had an wonderfully hot water. There was a nice balcony. It was very clean
- Forbes (6/5): The staff were fantastic. - Location and staff were great. Missing a few amenities. No tolit paper, paper towel, wash clothes, dish clothes and towels, tea kettle, spices.
- Francie (9/5): Enjoyable 3 week stay. - Location. 2 bedrooms, 2 baths & kitchen.
Beach area with chairs & palapas No broom & dustpan.
- Zac (6/5): Run down property in a great location. - The property is in a great beachfront location. The property desperately needs renovation inside and out.
- Nur (4/5): Disappointing -
- Keith (8/5): The facilities may not be the most elegant but the location makes up for it. - Excellent location, view is lovely. Liked having my coffee on the patio watching the sunrise. Furniture could use an upgrade. No regular cleaning, no towel racks or hooks.
- Laura (8/5): We enjoyed our stay, loved being in the ocean front suite, lovely guests staying there, close to everything with no need - Ocean view, convenient to town. A little dated.
- Ingrid (6/5): Works for a night but bed and pillows not comfortable and the shower was cold - Location Hard bed, pillows hard, too over stuffed. Small. Shower was cold
- Heather (8/5): Love the beach access. The deficiencies off the place are worth the access but be careful selecting a room as they vary - Location, location, location. Lounging on the beach is the best! Size and amenities of each room is quite varied. Be very careful when selecting.
- Pamela (9/5): Superb -
- Ian (8/5): Friendly staff, very clean good location on the beach - Loved the location. It was a few blocks from the Centre but there were coffee shops and a few restaurants to the main square.
Our unit was in the back building but just a few steps through the front building to the beach. A wee bit irritating, not enough beach chairs so we ran into the problem of people getting up early and claiming chairs with a towel. Those would often stay vacant for many hours.
- Petras (9/5): Superb - The beach, room, and location were excellent. The only minus is the bad internet connection in the room. Internet connection.
- Marcie (10/5): Plan to return - Great location-beautiful Palm fringed private beach right in front
Staff was wonderful
Town of Puerto Morelos was great- pedestrian friendly, excellent restaurants, very safe and hospitable
- Mary (8/5): Very good - Location, roomy, Very few if any kitchen cooking supplies. No kettle, no pots,
- Brigham (10/5): Exceptional - Great location on the beach. Employees are amazing. We stayed in the 2 bedroom 2 bathroom suite and it had a full kitchen and back patio. Very spacious. AC worked well. Each bedroom has it's own AC unit. Short walk to all restraunts in town.
- Devan (9/5): Amazing, chill, and friendly - So quiet and very clean. Super friendly staff, we don’t speak much Spanish and they didn’t speak much English but they were still able to help us with everything we needed and were so friendly. Also a great little beach area behind the hotel. The pillows were not very good but they did try to find us better ones. The beach also had a ton of seaweed but that has nothing to do with the hotel. Overall the pillows were the only downside and there were so many upsides we didn’t mind at all
- John (1/5): Arrecifes Disgusting - No Toilet and room was filthy dirty
We left after one night of our 4 night stay.
We were told the toilet was fixed on the first night. It's Wasn't fixed.
Two more times we were told it was fixed and again it Wasn't Fixed.
The floor had not been cleaned in a long time.
Hairs everywhere on floor in bathroom and bedroom and living room.
We had requested to be moved to another room but they had to call management.
At 12.30pm we had decided enough was enough and went to check out.
No one was at check out counter so we left our key.
At 1.03pm we recieved a message to say we could move to another room but would need to go to reception.
By this time we were in a taxi on the way back to Playa Del Carmen.
Awful way to treat guests
The pictures in the website do not reflect the actual room.
The rating is another deceitful part as well it is most definitely NOT 7.9
We will be asking for a FULL REFUND
- Alfredo (8/5): Very good - Beachfront, Clean and good location The single room is rather small
Can be noisy
- Dale (7/5): Laid back location, that could be vastly improved with more staff and better attention to the beachfront. The addition - Good location, It is our third visits to Puerto Morelos, each time we have stayed at Aricefes, due to the location, because it is within walking distance to the town square, but away from the noise. It has a nice ocean front area complete with palm trees and palaypas to lounge under. The beach side property doesn’t have A/C in the main living areas (kitchen, bathroom, and living room), and for 7 months of the year, it can be downright miserable, despite the abundant ocean breeze. The beach area is unkept, by the staff, and the seaweed becomes a major obstacle, especially during the summer and fall months. About half of the lounge chairs need to be replaced.
- Kate (7/5): Relaxing and enjoyable - Great location near the beach and near a great beach bar. Lounge chairs under the palms were lovely. Location is good a 10 min walk into town. Room was fine but small. Had a balcony with a little sea view. We were in newer building. Decent window coverings to block out light at night. Maybe one day of room service during our stay.
- Joy (10/5): Paradise - We loved our stay and can’t wait to come back. Nothing like walking out your back door right on to the beach. The air conditioning for our room was only in the bedroom, so the whole rental space would get pretty hot, but we weren’t in our room much.
- Massimo (6/5): Adequate but expensive - Beach access, balcony patio It was the most expensive stay in Mexico
- Snogueira (7/5): Basic and up to the paid price -
- Christina (2/5): Very poor - you could walk to the beach We requested three beds. Says a pull out -- no pull out and who wants to sleep on a bad pull out for that price. Doors didnt lock -- noisy. not very clean hardly any hot water.
- Ina (7/5): Direct beach access - The sea room view with direct access to the beach was amazing. The place is nice for a short stay, otherwise maybe a bit run down (due to the proximity to the sea probably).
- Nick (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (9/5): Puerto Morelos is a wonderful town with beautiful beaches, good restaurants and friendly people. - The location of Arricefes, which was right on the beach and close to town, was fantastic. We had a suite on the second floor with a view of the sea, which I would highly recommend. The suite was well furnished and clean. The bed was comfortable and the bedroom had air conditioning. The staff was friendly and responsive. On the beach, there were beach chairs with tables in the shade, which was great, but a number of the beach chairs were broken and should be replaced.
- Jan (1/5): Never again - Not as on the pictures. Not even the same building. Super noisy, tiny and out dates room and way too expensive.
- Thomas (9/5): Superb -
- Jeffrey (8/5): Puerto Morelos is worth the trip! - Beach Cleanliness of the grounds
- Nizol (9/5): Superb - Location and staff Sofa bed was awful
- Sharon (7/5): We enjoyed our stay. Puerto Morelos is a lovely, clean, friendly area. - Location was great, just a short drive (probably walkable for younger people) to restaurants. Quiet neighborhood. Beach and lounge chairs and palapas were perfect. Room had everything we needed. We enjoyed the private lanai. We didn’t use the pool. It was in an out-of-the-way, shaded area. The shower head was so bad…very little water (maybe holes were plugged?). I had to wash my hair in the kitchen sink. Also the first few days we had no hot water. We had room #101. The bed pillows were very uncomfortable. Door lock/key were very difficult to use.
- Murphy (9/5): Superb -
- Elizabeth (4/5): Spartan accommodation at Athenian price - Clean and good showers . Polite staff. Loud and lacking security. The price, compared to similar properties, was not supported by the quality of the property.
- Mary (7/5): Cute hotel terrible shower and bath - The location right on the beach and near restaurant row. Cute private terrace with partial view of the ocean. The bathroom was strange separate tiny toilet room and separate unattractive shower room. Water pressure terrible. Decided not to wash my hair.
- Rick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Wendy (7/5): Good - Staff at front desk wonderful both day qnd night. Great location. Like the book exchange. Would like cleaning done every day. At least a bromm in the room if not. Ran out of toilet papet, towels. No washclothes, dishtowels or sharp knives. Did not like stairs. Husband has dementia, we really struggled. We were on third floor.
- Julie (7/5): Good - Place quite run down, no coffees or tea in room. Expensive for what you get.
- Colette (8/5): Very good - The location is great, on the beach with umbrellas and chairs. We had a little balcony with a partial view of the ocean. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was not good, needed a new shower head. The staff was very nice . The shower
- Michael (8/5): Arricifes Suites - Suite with sea view, 2nd floor - The room has a full kitchen with a bar and a good sized kitchen table. The living room has two sofas and a coffee table. From the living room area, you go through a sliding glass door to a veranda/balcony with an amazing ocean view and a table that can comfortably seat 6. As you look out into the ocean from the balcony, you are looking directly east where you can observe beautiful sunrises over the Caribbean if you can get up early enough. From the balcony, there is a spiral staircase that goes down to a common grass area just over which are the steps to the private beach area.
The private beach area is for Arricifes guests only, and there are always a sufficient number of beach chairs and tables with umbrellas available - first come, first serve. This private beach chair area is the best I've seen along Puerto Morrelos's long beach. There is ample space to set up your group's own little area, and my absolute favorite feature is the mature, tall palm trees which tower over the lounge area. They provide additional shade and the sound of the ocean breeze rustling their leaves provides a calming atmosphere perfect for reading and naps. At the end of the private beach area, the public beach begins where you can observe local families of many generations spending time together eating and drinking while the kids run wild. Vendors selling everything from handmade jewelry to fresh pastries, sliced tropical fruit, and jars of honey to whole fresh coconuts which they'll chop open with a machete to expose the coconut water which you drink with a straw. After crossing 30-40 feet of the white sand public beach area, you hop over a little pile of sargassum (arriving earlier and earlier every year) and hit the warm turquoise water of the Caribbean. The beds, surfaces, and floors were pretty clean, but the whole place needs a deep cleaning. There was noticeable dust and dirt in the corners, on ledges on doors and windows, and around the edges of sinks and the toilet.
The room also needs a lot of basic maintenance. The front and back sliding doors need to be replaced or fixed. The keys and locks get jammed and the locks aren't sturdy. All of the cabinet hardware, sink hardware, shower hardware, light fixtures, toilet seat, bedroom curtains, kitchen utensils, and appliances including the fridge are pretty old and need to be replaced. Very affordable modern looking replacements could easily be found on Amazon that would make a huge difference in giving the room a more modern, clean feel. The brown sofas and dark wood furniture also give off a very 70s-80s vibe. The walls and ceiling need some repair work. And all of these updates could be covered for a fraction of our 8 night room fee and need very little skill to do.
There are also two more major but necessary updates that need to be made: 1. An AC unit needs to be installed in the living room or at least a more powerful ceiling fan or two AND a powerful oscillating floor fan. It was too hot to hang out in there during the day, and I wouldn't be comfortable sleeping there. 2. Something needs to be done about the sewage smell creeping out of the bathroom drain. It's fine for a while after a shower, but starts to smell again after a few hours. A temporary fix might be to install an electric vent fan and run it on a timer. Some air freshener and fresh flowers would also help.
The following things aren't necessary, but I think would really make Arricifes stand out: 1. Provide guests with contact info for a distilled water and ice delivery service. 2. Provide bikes for rent with large baskets that guests could take to the supermarket. 3.
- Lorne (8/5): Very good -
- Coghill (7/5): Good - Very well situated for the beach in a quiet location about 10 mins walk from the main action (restaurants and bars).
The beach itself is very nice.
A pleasant, small pool area was just outside the block where our room was located. At £100/night, the room was very basic (no view) and a little tired. It is overpriced. My flight was delayed 24hrs and I informed them as soon as I knew this, but was unable to get any refund (I knew those were the terms, but was hoping for a gesture of goodwill). Puerto Morelos is nice, quiet and laid back, but I would not rush to book this hotel at this price point. £50/£70 would seem appropriate based on location
- John (6/5): Great location and staff, poor internet and maid frequency - Location, staff friendliness Poor internet, maid service twice in 6 days,
- Deborah (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (10/5): Quiet, relaxing and good hospitality - Total stay was excellent, all staff members are vey accommodating
- Mira (8/5): Quiet location most adults staying in this facilities and not to many little kids witch we like it - Location and very friendly and helpful staff Old building and shower didn’t have hot water every day
- Luis (8/5): Very good - Toilets are too small and door to one room is not properly thought to close. All smells gets into the sleeping room and toilets rooms are not opening good enough
- Deon (8/5): I had a good stay, the rooms were clean, it was a great location and I loved how I could make my fruit smoothies in the - I loved how the property was close to the beach, grocery stores, restaurants, and there were so many different activities to do like snorkeling, ATV, zip line etc that could be found near the area’s. There wasn’t much I didn’t like about the property. It was provided the perfect stay for my 6 nights in Mexico.
