• Simon (8/5): Beautiful place to stay, well placed to explore the lakes, would definitely return again. - Stylishly decorated, elegant, clean, large ceilings in bedrooms and luxurious bathrooms. Well equipped kitchen. Not the fault of the owners of the property or the bar/pub next door, patrons leaving the bar were a bit noisy. Place is in the high street, so traffic at night.

The property itself is of a very high standard, very well decorated and furnished. There is nothing not to like, I was seriously impressed and will be booking again for our next trip to the lakes.

• Mike (9/5): Overall this is an excellent choice for a large group and represents excellent value for money. - A home from home with facilities and equipment above and beyond expectations. The house is spacious and can easily accommodate a large family group. Bedrooms are large and beds comfy. Jill is a great host with excellent communication at all times. Everything you need is in walking distance. The location in the Main Street comes with traffic noise in the two front bedrooms, which we were not accustomed to so we all used earplugs to get a good nights sleep.

• Laurel (10/5): - Everything! Of all the places we booked during our 5 week UK visit, Cumberland House was the most beautiful - it blew us away. Absolutely stunning home and lovely host who was waiting for us and the house was so warm. That we had such a short stay, we didn't want to leave!

Over the weekend the adjacent pub can be noisy but only til about 11 so not really an issue unless you need an early night!

• Mihaela (10/5): - The stay at Cumberland house was way above our expectations. The house is superb and luxurious to the point that the pictures don't make it justice. We were welcome by the owners who were flexible with the check-in time. There's a generous parking space at the location, which is so convenient considering the central location of the property. Everything was spotless!! Beds very very comfortable! Warm and cozy with sky TV and a large variety of board games. The kitchen had everything we needed and more! There's are plenty of activity options, restaurants and bars nearby. The house can sleep 6 people comfortably, with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, kitchen/ dinning, living room and utility room. We had a little baby with us and they installed a cot for us. They were understanding and accommodated all our needs! Highly recommend and we are planning to go again with the next occasion!

The house is beautiful with lots of thoughtful touches that made it feel welcoming from the moment we arrived. Kitchen had everything you would need and the living spaces were cosy. Comfortable beds. Th location is great for exploring the Lakes and right in the centre of Cockermouth. The owners were friendly and nothing was a problem. A beautiful home, we will definitely be back.

The property was fabulous, We were a party of 7. It was perfect for us! Really stunning and so luxurious and comfortable inside. The host Jill was lovely and made us feel welcome. The kitchen has everything you need, and the little homely touches are perfect! The host Gillian couldn’t have been more helpful, met us at check-in to show us round the house, checked we were ok during the stay and coming for checking out. Could not recommend this more! The location on Main Street was great, with an array of cafes and restaurants, pubs on your doorstep, a supermarket down the road and lovely walks along the river. 😊 Nothing

The host really thought about everything - from the air fryer to laundry, to dishwasher tablets and shower gel and shampoo. They were also accommodating to our late arrival, for which we still really thank them

The checkout time was earlier than standard practice of midday and not mentioned anywhere until host messaged last morning, leaving limited time to cleanup and checkout which is not always easy with kids.

• Yick Chong (9/5): Highly recommended - I’ve stayed in many Airbnbs across different countries, and this is by far the cleanest one. You can really feel the host’s care in every detail – from the tasteful decor to the variety of board games provided. Everything is super tidy and clean. The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances and utensils. Perfect for families. Highly recommended! There is no shampoo and conditioner provided.

The 2 bathrooms made it super easy as we were getting ready to go out. The parking on site was something id overlooked and that was a weight off my mind. The host met us and did a quick tour, giving us some local recommendations- all super helpful. It was reassuring that we had been contacted prior to our stay and knew the host was only a call or text away, on hand to help. The high street could get a little rowdy at night but thats not something that the host can control- plus we liked being central to the town centre and it's amenities. We couldn't master the connection to upstairs tvs.

The host was very friendly and communicative. There was bike storage, which was great. The house is adjacent to a pub and, as it was a warm summer’s evening and we had some windows open, there was quite a lot of noise late into the evening.
• Trevor (10/5): A fantastic find for a staycation. - The property was fantastic. Exceptionally clean, and equipped with everything you could possibly need for a family getaway. The rooms are all a great size and beautifully decorated. The location is right in the middle of the town with a bar, bookshops and supermarket right outside the front door. Showers are brilliant and beds are all so comfortable. Off-street parking with secure gates so the dogs could have a run around. That we only booked for 1 night!

• Linda (9/5): Gillian is a wonderful host who has provided a beautifully appointed home with everything a holiday maker needs. - Absolutely fabulous accommodation- spotlessly clean, and beautifully appointed. One of the best self-catering houses we’ve ever stayed in. Gillian has provided everything you need for a relaxing holiday. She quickly responded to my questions and requests and provided an extremely generous welcome package. Our family loved it - especially our twin grandsons who enjoyed playing with the games and jigsaws provided. Its proximity to a lively pub on a Saturday night - we’re light sleepers but the rest of the family didn’t hear a thing! No fault of the owner though and didn’t spoil our holiday.

• Steven (10/5): Super place for a family trip! - Cumberland House was perfect for our family gathering! On arrival, we found ample secure parking for our 2 cars (at the property). We were then welcomed by the owners and made to feel at home! Extremely comfortable, with 3 bedrooms, able to accommodate bigger families than ours. Upstairs, the master bedroom was huge with a massive wide screen television plus 2 other good sized bedrooms and a shower room. Downstairs, a pleasant, comfortable lounge and a large, well equipped kitchen -dining room with a spacious, additional bathroom (with a a large bath!)The whole house was modern, nicely decorated and with a very high standard of fittings and fixtures. Situated in the Main Street of Cockermouth, with lots of shops and restaurants, (and nice pubs!) this is a great location from which to tour the Lake District!

Exceptional high standard, everything you need and then some. Central to Cockermouth and all facilities. Could not praise this property enough, would highly recommend. The owner Jillian’s was very friendly and helpful, on arrival it was a nice surprise to find some basic supplies, milk, bread etc.
• Martin (10/5): You have to stay here. Seriously!! - This is truly an aspirational property to stay in. Very high quality fixtures and fittings / decor and a really inviting place to stay. Truly a home from home. The host was excellent and nothing was too much trouble. The only thing we felt bad about, was not actually taking anyone else to stay there with us, as this place can easily accommodate a family / a number of couples. Cockermouth itself, also has everything you could ever need (and is very dog friendly) and there's even a cocktail / wine bar, right next door (though the slight downside is that they don't become silent until 11:30pm...albeit that they are across the archway, so not so bad...and the solution is to go and join them and have a drink or three. They make excellent cocktails...and you might also get a discount if you mention that you're staying next door 😉) All in all, I can genuinely say that you need to stay here. It was fantastic!!

• Omkar (9/5): Satisfying and worth the money - The property is really well maintained. Spacious rooms and living area. Very clean and all the basic facilities/utlities/goodies were available of good brands, and which was exceptional. We travelled during Christmas so had a beautiful Christmas tree decor in the house with lots of children games available. Only thing I felt was it’s near to a pub and main road and I travelled with a two year old who is a light sleeper and it was a Christmas week which caused little inconvenience but after 1 or 2 o clock at night it was all quite and he could sleep better
• Moushumi (9/5): A fantastic property I have ever stayed - Everything was just immaculate. Parking was very secure. All grocery shopping stores were literally 5 mins walking distance. I had only one reservation that the property was on a high street. So I was trying to check a few other properties in a quiet location. But finally I booked this one. And really, no regrets at all. Though it's on the high Street also near the pub, I along with other friends could not hear any loud sounds. Overall a beautiful property with everything spot on. And yes also, a fantastic Gillian (the owner of the property).

The location is excellent, great for all amenities and there are some great walks around the town. You are only a short drive into the heart of the Lake District.
