Guest Reviews
- Esteban (5/5): Lots of potential for a romantic getaway but seems not invested - The hotel looks stunning in the pictures, it is isolated and nice to have a break. The hotel has a lot of potential The price doesn’t reflect the condition of the hotel. We didn’t mind the signs of age and wear, but since it was the start of low season and we were the only guests, there was often no Wi-Fi or electricity, as they told us they were trying to save resources until more guests arrived. Unfortunately, it also felt like cleaning and maintenance were being reduced for the same reason
- Danan (9/5): Comfortable safety nice and clean - Everything is good 👍😊 Nah

- Jessika (8/5): - Udda boende som var väldigt mysigt. Låg direkt på stranden - härligt! Slitet i själva domen.

- Egdell (5/5): Does the job but dated - Nice and quiet resort, our room was ready early, free boat drop off at pier I imagine this hotel was perhaps at its peak around 15 years ago, it seems very dated and a bit rundown. A lot of the sun loungers are dirty and there is limited ones. The room is lovely however the whole bathroom is outside which means it’s very dirty and lots of leaves so maybe a cover over the top may help. The breakfast is pretty poor, we didn’t particularly enjoy. The prices for drinks and food are also a lot more expensive than any where else on the island therefore we didn’t see anyone eat dinner at the hotel. The hotel is also a lot more isolated than anywhere else with about a 15 min walk to the nearest restaurants which is okay but not what we wanted. The pool was also green for most of the time we were there until on the last day they emptied it.
- scott (6/5): - Needs some care & attention, eg rotting door frames

- Louise (2/5): Scruffy and unclean - Quirky for the first 10 minutes, but after that. Swinging double bed loungers were nice I can imagine this place was lovely when it was first built. The staff weren’t as welcoming. The reception was tatty and old, very unclean. The room itself wasn’t very private with the windows (we stayed in the terrace bungalows) the out door toilet and shower a novelty which soon turned out to be annoying. Attracted bugs and leaves the shower was cold and no pressure it felt impossible to get clean as you just walked dirt into the bungalow. The staff didn’t clean the bungalow whilst we were there either. There was no water in the pools and breakfast was horrendous I wasn’t able to eat it. I can imagine the food hygiene was zero. It’s also a bit of a walk to the nice restaurants so think location before you book, the tide can stop you venturing out too early in the day. It wasn’t worth the money, maybe back in the day it was.
- Bron (8/5): Great location and beach front. Friendly staff. Unique domed ceilings. - Friendly and very helpful staff. Beautiful beach front. Quiet location but close walk to busier area with bars and restaurants. Staff kept the grounds clean and tidy. Good breakfast. Unique domed rooms. The rooms and property in general need some serious updating.
- tracy (3/5): Extremely disappointing and sad. - the beach and the palm trees on the resort are lovely and the lighting outside at night. the dome eating area was lifeless, dull, dirty, shabby and uninviting. the menus were old and barely readable with hardly any choice. The bar was a joke....hardly one at all, and the staff seemed untrained and not very communicative. On arrival, I had cut my finger on the arrival boat, so I asked for a plaster.....3 times......they never gave me one. Information about the island and activities was lacking and the WIFI was hardly existent. When the breakfast arrived it was carton juice, powder coffee, strange tea and poor quality food., We did not want to attempt lunch or dinner. We asked about lunch on the first day of arrival as it was lunch time but were met with an unconvincing answer as to whether they served it or not. On departure, noone could be found at reception and we had to drag our luggage down the beach to a different pier as the sea was rough.....again, very little communication as to where to go or what to do.
The rooms were also shabby asnd dirty, with stained sheets, towels and bathrobes. This IS NOT a luxury resort as advertised, rather a worn down 'has been'. It is a shame, as it has all the potential but lack of care and attention makes it quite a sad place to be. Even the one paddle board and canoe on offer have seen better days. The cost is far too much for what you get in return. It was a real disappointment.
- Sarah (3/5): While set in a stunning setting, no care is given to whether people are enjoying their stay. - Comfortable beds, stunning setting. The original bullds are of high quality and you can tell that a lot of thought went into the original build/set up. Very run down and dirty - pillows were covered in black mould, we had a room with kitchen and the drawers were covered in a thick layer of mould. Staff were lovely enough when asked for things, but genuinely didn’t seem to care. Extremely inconsistent - they only clean your room when requested (which I think is fine) but sometimes they would just make the bed, another time they didn’t bring any towels at all, there is just no care. Staff are often relaxing on the lounges/beach area and it seems like an inconvenience to them to ask for something.
- Macharashvili (1/5): - Staff was terrible, attitude was very bad. One of their staff member got drunk and in the morning, while me and my friends were eating the breakfast, he started shouting at us and throwing pen and papers to us, and when we asked to speak with manager or property owner, he said he was the boss, and if we had any problem we should go outside with him, and he was running to us with a knife. We felt so humiliated and embarrassed in front of other people, in public. WE contacted the owner, and they asked for their staff member to go in home until we were here. But on another morning, we went to have a breakfast in other restaurant close to Moonlight Resort, and this guy was there, he started shouting again. I texted to Booking.com Customer Service but they didn’t respond.

- Alexandre (5/5): -
- Margarita (4/5): - I took a specially upgraded room and in vain... it's terrible... there is almost no hot water. The hair dryer doesn't work. For some reason they gave us the very first house and almost the entire night the light bulbs were shining directly into the window and we couldn't get a good rest. The room wasn't cleaned even after we asked them to do it twice!!! The trash was just falling out of the trash can and they ignored us and didn't even want to change the plastic bag. Also, when checking out, they insisted that we pay for drinking water, which we didn't buy at the hotel. Then the funniest thing happened. We asked the staff for an ice bucket and they billed us for the ice upon check-out. We also paid for the room upon check-in, but upon check-out, the employee came up to us several times and told us to pay for the room. We had to explain several times that it was already paid for.
- Kathleen (5/5): For some days ok - Architecture is nice Fancy rooms but not my hygienic Standard. Visible old Materials - Wood, Metal etc.

- Jan Laulund (6/5): Hyggeligt men meget slidt.
- Guillaume (5/5): -
- Ahmed (9/5): Superb -
- Jye (8/5): Very good -
- Kaylee (9/5): Superb -
- Peter (8/5): Like in a movie!
- Arnold (7/5): Good - The only thing, the menu was very poor.
We have been to this resort 3 times over 11 years.
The ceaser salad was the wrong dressing and way to much. The bacon needed to be crispy.
The scallops wrapped in bacon needed a dipping sauce.
Breakfast was good.
Some things on the menu where not available.
- Victoria (10/5): Beautiful resort to stay - Beautiful resort
Special and clean little houses
Super comfy
Helpful and friendly staff
Fast wifi
Super breakfast!
- Anna (9/5): Superb -
- Chris (3/5): Extremely disappointing - Lovely location, but then the same can be said for every other resort on this beach They advertise their rooms as having tv but they do not work, nor are they smart so they cannot be connected to phone or computer. I asked if they could provide some kind of special occasion package that I could pay for. Their reply inferred there was, but it transpired there was not. The restaurant has all the atmosphere of a motorway service station that just happens to be next to a beach. The staff are friendly but there appears to be no management input and everything is done to a bare minimum. Definitely not a $100 a night hotel, and definitely lots better on the same beach.
- Angela (2/5): Very disappointing. Would not recommend. - It was on the beach, but other than that there was nothing good about this hotel Where to start. Hotel stated that they would collect us from pier, but when we arrived there was no one available, we carried bags down the beach to the hotel, it’s not a long walk. From the pictures online this hotel looks stunning and very instagramable but in reality it is run down and dirty. It could in fact be a brilliant place if it was given a little love and attention to detail. On arrival we were given a welcome drink of half a glass of apple juice and a small plate of fruit wrapped in cling film with plastic forks. This was a great example of how with just a little effort with presentation this would have elevated the experience. Once we were shown to our room, it was very disappointing again very run down and dirty. The towels were thin and discoloured, the sheets had marks from either fake tan or foundation. For a hotel that advertises as moonlight resort with skylights it would be good if the windows were washed.
On the second day of our stay, I was unwell with stomach bug, we stayed around the hotel for the day, there was no offer to clean our room, to change towels or replenish supplies in the room. As I was unwell my husband went to reception to ask for more toilet paper and.water, it took a long time for this to come to our room, and then on check out we were charged well over the local rate for 2 small bottles of water. When I complained about this the staff replied ‘well did you ask for your room to be cleaned’ If we had been staying at one of the much cheaper hostel accomodations on the island I definitely would not have expected the room to be cleaned, but as one of the more expensive places this is something we expect as standard.
Lastly the breakfast menu is very limited, it looks like there are several different options but in reality there are 3 different names for standard toast and eggs. We choose to have our breakfast delivered to our room terrace as the dome restaurant area is again dark and run down.
- Lisa (9/5): Peaceful - Staff was friendly but did have a miss understanding on booking a trip.
Lovely and peaceful full here. Food good esp prawns and there chips. Breakfast not bad. No pool . And the plunge pools was dirty and full of bugs.
Food was expensive so only had lunch there.
- Rael (9/5): Superb -
- Andrew (9/5): Superb - Beautiful unspoilt location better shower
- Adrian (8/5): Moonlight Resort - unique domes and great seaview - Unique circular domes or igloos to stay in. Probably the best view of the bay from the swinging beds - reserve before breakfast to avoid disappointment! Thin bed mattress on hard surface gave me temporary backache and affected sleep quality. Breakfast was nice but repetitive and to order only with slow service.
- Plutarco (9/5): Superb -
- Fraser (6/5): Pleasant -
- Keo (10/5): Exceptional - Amazing staff 😍
- Michael (6/5): There must be better options on this beach - The location (so just pick another hotel on this beach) and the kindness of the staff Very poorly managed. Everything is old and dirty. The employees are very very kind, but don’t really know what they’re doing (don’t fire them, train them).
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicholas (10/5): Amazing, unique stay with very hard working, friendly and attentive staff. - Fantastic room on the beach. Bathroom could do with a little TLC. Great staff , good food The bathroom would benefit from redecorating.
- Dr. (7/5): Good -
- Nicole (9/5): Relaxing. - Location of the resort. Transport to and from the boat wharf to the resort was great. Staff were very helpful and obliging. Breakfast included was a bonus. Jacuzzi must of had a leak as we always had to fill it up.
- Claire (6/5): Location is superb, needs a bit of a love. - The location of the Moonlight is truly extraordinary and the views from the pods over the white sand were mesmerising. We were just steps from the warm sea.
The garden was stunning and being able to have breakfast here was special. the grounds were clean and well kept.
The hotel organised a boat trip where we were able to swim with the phospheresence and that was great.
You are just a short walk from good restaurants, bars and more lively resorts. This hotel was more expensive than others on this stretch of beach and perhaps I was expecting more because of that.
I would expect our rooms to be cleaned every day, they weren't. You had to request cleaning, we didn't realise this at first. Particularly in the heat, when you can't flush paper down the toilet, it's pretty gross for the bathrooms not to be cleaned daily.
The lighting in the rooms was terrible, very harsh and no way to turn lights off from the bed in the middle of the room. Also the pods had blinds that didn't cover the whole window or sky light so nights were bright from the lights in the gardens and then when the sun came up.
The description said that food/pizza was always available during the day, it wasn't. Lunch service stopped at 2pm.
The eating / reception pod is a weird place.
I felt that this resort was overall feeling tired and in need of a good spruce up. With some simple changes, a good clean, new linen etc it would be stunning. At the moment it's not.
- Natania (7/5): Good - It's a bit older than the photos show. Nothing happening at the resort so you tend to go to other restuarants to more options to eat and entertainment.
- Nick (7/5): Good -
- Alfred (8/5): Very good -
- Kent (7/5): Good -
- Marie (6/5): No worse the money - The location of the resort is pretty great, only a few minutes by walk from the boat stop. The room face the sea, so it's give a good impression once you arrived at the hotel! The staff was kind also. The room isn't so pleasant to stay in even if the aesthetic is beautiful, the wall were thin so we heard all the noises from the outside, plus our bathroom was overflowing on the morning..
- Holly (8/5): Quiet and relaxing stay - Loved the free upgrade to an amazing unique room! The hotel is beachside and the breakfast was good. Many places outside to relax around the resort. There were some ants outside our room which were a little annoying, the hotel did have a free kayak and paddleboard but only one of each and they were in poor condition
- Rathana (8/5): Very good - It's an amazing restaurant lively staff yummy Khmer food all food so fresh. Very beautiful look, clean, nice and helpful staff reliable transfers, and good food. Rooms are very spacious and pretty. All in all we had a very nice experience and good memories. We will definitely recommend this place It’s was an amazing for travel to there , The only suggestion I have is the wifi connection. I stayed at room number 10 with my couple, Wifi signal is not usable. The Cellcard connection does not exist. So I was pretty much offline the entire stay. so internet connection is not really an issue, so living off-grid is a plus at this instance. But for those who are looking to work remotely, this is a huge issue.
Anyway I really have an amazing and beautiful time for staying with a beautiful resort with lovely staff, see you again on December.
- Zubeida (8/5): Perfect special getaway - I loved the serenity and the sense of symmetry in the design . N/a
- Lesley (8/5): Moonlight or sunlight, a lovely place to stay. - Just the most gorgeous setting, and beautifully groomed. The igloo like bungalows are very appealing. Lots of good relaxing and reading spots suitable during a rainy spell! Staff very pleasant and helpful.
- Kevin (9/5): Nice beachfront hotel - Lovely beachfront hotel.
Staff at the hotel were all very friendly and helpful from the moment they met us off the ferry.
Room was quirky but maybe needed a bit of TLC.
Nice breakfast included and served in the hotel restaurant (or can be served outside on request).
Location is stunning - direct access to the beach and about 10 minutes stroll along the beach to a selection of bars and restaurants. Rooms need freshening up with some new decoration.
- Victoria (10/5): beautiful resort - beautiful location & friendly staff, probably one of the nicest hotels on the island, good food & they have bug spray in the rooms nothing :)
- Hannah (10/5): Exceptional -
- Giorgio (7/5): Good -
- Philip (7/5): Pretty good, but felt it could have been better - We stayed in one of their round dome houses which were spectacular. The room was fun being completely circular with a circular bed in the middle. The beach was lovely with gorgeous white sand and blue water to swim in. The hotel doesn't quite hit the mark what with the opportunity it has with being located on the best part of Saracen beach. The food was overpriced so we ended up eating at the more touristy / backpacker end of the beach and judging by how busy the restaurant was, so did all the other guests; consequently, there wasn't much of a vibe about the place. Shame really...
- Daniel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Glauco (10/5): Exceptional - Everything! The place is awesome! The dome is one of the best room you can book on a remote island..
The staff very caring, I made a dinner on the beach and they bring flower and fire write on the beach.. I will come back for sure! Nothing....
If I need find something no electric plug near the bed.. but it's nothing
- Herschell (9/5): Superb -
- Clive (7/5): Good -
- Lady (10/5): Great place to relax in paradise - Outdoor bathroom
Unique stay
Kind staff
Collected us by their boat from the pier and dropped us off when we left
Free kayaking
Staff were smiling throughout our whole stay and we're very accommodating
Breakfast was nice
Nice pool and sunbeds area
Quiet but still walking distance to some bars and shops Wifi connection in the room could have been better but was great just outside
Food prices were a bit on the higher side but the meals were nice so it did not matter
- Lauren (6/5): Nice stay but overpriced! - The hotel messaged us prior to our arrival and arranged to pick us up from the pier and bring us to the resort which was nice and saved us a fair walk down the beach. We then enjoyed quick check in and a welcome drink. The resort was right on the beach and had free kayaks and paddle boards for guests to use. The room was a good size however a little more run down than we expected and required some TLC. WiFi was decent and our room had a smart tv with movies loaded was nice on a night time. Robes, bath and pool towels and basic toiletries also provided. A/C worked perfect and a fan also provided. Although the room was nice, the bathroom was outside and there were gaps around the windows/doors into the room meaning you were joined by wildlife e.g crickets and lizards (mostly on a night time) This really bothered us as we don’t like lizards and one night 1 got into our room so we spent most of the night awake paranoid!
The beach location is beautiful however it is a 10 minute walk up the beach to where the restaurants/bars are.
The hotel could do with a good refresh in terms on paint jobs (around pool area and exterior of rooms) and a good clean to make it look as inviting as the photos.
- Anastasiia (5/5): Passable -
- Libby (1/5): Bad - We arrived at the hotel and didn’t even stay because the hotel looked so dirty and not like the pictures at all.
- Julie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kakada (6/5): It was a very good view of the resort but I won’t stay there again if I go back to Cambodia. - The price is way too expensive for foods and drink. They charged us triple price for foods and drink. And doesn’t really helpful when we ask for help. Staffs are not really helpful ! Toilet, the light in the bathroom were broken for our second day on the island. The bathroom doesn’t clean enough. And they charged us triple price for everything we asked for help.
- Eliane (9/5): Relaxing - The Beach área of the property was very clean. They have two Nice Swimmingpools, Swings, Outdoor beds To chill on. Also a very Sweet guard Dog To cuddle with.
- Elise (10/5): Paradise ! - Friendly staff, good food and a beautiful scenery …
- Rymma (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nk (10/5): Amazing unique resort on a beautiful island - Unique rooms and lovely location. We met the owners and so much love went into the place. The staff were fab too. The government want to close down the current resort and build huge hotels in its place. So so sad as it will ruin the island.
- Ekaterina (10/5): Amazing experience, we enjoyed a lot out stay. We would definitely come back again to enjoy our peaceful and quite vacat - Helpful welcoming staff, clean room, beautiful view.
- Tom (9/5): Superb -
- Jackman (5/5): A beautiful location, and probably used to be a beautiful hotel. Not worth it now. - Staff was very kind and hotel was located further away from the busier bars and restaurants, so it was quiet in the evenings. The hotel was covered in graffiti, which appeared to be related to a dispute with the land owner. Also the distinction between “beach front” and non beach front domes appeared to be in price only, as they’re all basically in a row and not really different in any way. Plumbing leaked and many of the lights were non functional. At a cost nearly three times that of other hotels nearby that looked just as good or nicer, this place really isn’t worth it. It seems very common on the island for things to be built to look nice but the facade rapidly falls away, recommend sorting reviews from newest to oldest when looking for a place to stay here.
- Bav (10/5): Perfect location, beach, amazing architecture and friendly staff - Perfect location in the secluded part of Saracen Bay, exquisite beach perfect for a midnight dip romantic ambiance, swimming pool and bar service, extremely friendly staff. Sincere thanks to dearest Tola and Theary for all their help and recommendations for the island. Breakfast was very nice with great selection of food choice and beach dinner. The architecture of the resort and dome rooms were amazing. The rooms included all essential amenities. Would definitely return. Everything was perfect
- Jill (9/5): Quiet & relaxing stay - The resort has a really nice location for swimming, you don't need to walk around on other beach front. The staff is always around as well, and easy to request things from them. Nothing much
- Mark (5/5): Passable -
- Madeleine (9/5): Beautiful relaxing getaway - The staff were lovely.
The food was really good.
The room was clean and very beautiful.
Amazing beachfront location.
Peaceful and quiet.
Loads of places to sit on the beach and on the hanging beds Slightly limited menu, some things not available.
Lots of insects on the beach / at dinner but not in the room.
- John (9/5): perfect peice of paradise - very quiet at night.
quiet part of the beach so basically got it to yourself.
I kept renewing my stay in total I spent five nights here and didn’t want to leave.
breakfast is all you need! eggs cooked when needed, fresh bread, fruit platters, cereal, milk, tea and coffee plus the usual Asian breakfast dishes.
the staff are always around to help and very friendly.
I was up around 6am every morning and the groundskeepers were cleaning, raking sand and leaves and brushing patio areas. nothing, anyone that writes a bad review about this place is a divvy
- Tr1ckx (9/5): good value for money, not 5* (more like 3-4*) but the view and the calm will compensate you - The property is on the beach which was clean and beautiful. Staff is very helpful. Rooms are spacious and clean, we’ve stayed 6 nights and cannot complain about anything.
- Anthony (7/5): Nice island. Shame to see it go this way. - The beach and grounds were kept really clean by the staff. Dinner on the beach was really nice. The food was excellent and well priced. Breakfast is limited and not up to much. The domed dining hall is a bit depressing. Unfortunately the Cambodian government are trying to evict the owners of this hotel and other hotels and bars and come around spraying massages with eviction dates on the buildings, so they can sell leases to developers, so this island will be spoilt and never be the same again. We wish the owners and brilliant staff well in the difficult situation that they find themselves in. The spray painted graffiti by the Cambodian government making visitors feel unwelcome.
- Yvonne (5/5): Passable - location right on beach but Cambodia government have a massive building project and are demolishing the end of the island property’s breakfast was very poor
