Guest Reviews
- ALEJANDRO (10/5): Authentic Puglian Hospitality at Its Best - We had a wonderful stay at Masseria Spetterrata and would return without hesitation. The property is beautiful, spotless, peaceful, and surrounded by incredible views over the valleys and the Adriatic Sea. The pool area is fantastic, and the breakfast each morning was excellent.
What truly makes the experience special, however, is the people. All the staff were awesome throughout our stay, always kind, welcoming, and attentive. Pierluigi is an exceptional host: warm, attentive, thoughtful, and genuinely passionate about the history and culture of Southern Italy. Conversations with him were one of the highlights of our stay. He was also extraordinarily helpful and supportive, on his own initiative, when we had to deal with a mechanical issue with our rental car, something we deeply appreciated.
A special mention also to Angelo, whose advice on places to visit and restaurants to try was consistently outstanding and extremely valuable throughout our time in Puglia.
This is not just a beautiful masseria, it is a place with soul, hospitality, and authenticity. Highly recommended, and we sincerely hope to return. Nothing
- Feda (10/5): - This place deserves an extra 10 points! We loved absolutely everything! Gigi and Angelo were amazing and so friendly. Rooms are very clean and they are cleaned every day, as well as towel change. In the bathroom there is soap, shower gel, shampoo and everything. Breakfast is great with the view of the pool. We loved homemade ricotta and mocarela. Close to messeria is a very cute village with several nice restaurants Gigi recommended for us. Also location is great, you can easily drive to Cisterino, Arbolabello, Matera, Polignano de Mare etc. We are DEFINITELY coming back. Thank you for your hospitality.
- Garance (8/5): -
- Tristan (10/5): A marvelous short vacation in the Puglia region before the holiday season - Pierluigi was a fantastic host and quite a gentleman. He gave us a warm welcome and made very relevant recommendation to visit the area. Breakfast was superb. The property in the olive groves was quite exceptional and we decided to extend our stay. We were a little surprised by the weather at the beginning of May. It was rainy and then sunny but cold.
- Roderick (10/5): Peaceful stay in a spotless masseria in a beautiful part of Italy - Set in an olive grove in the countryside with a wonderful view towards the sea. Very peaceful. Attentive host who is a mine of local knowledge.
- José (10/5): Wonderful stay in a beautiful Masseria - We had a wonderful stay at Agriturismo Masseria Spetterrata. Pierluigi gave us a very warm welcome and was extremely helpful with great restaurant recommendations and suggestions on the best places to visit in the area.
The property is beautiful, full of charm, and very well maintained. Our room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, with very attentive service. A special thank you to Arianna for her kindness and friendly attitude every morning.
A beautiful place to stay, with genuine hospitality and a relaxing atmosphere. We would definitely recommend it. Nothing to complain about.
- anders (10/5): From the personal checkin with guiding of area and fascilities to the final lunch was super! Extreemly nice staff that q - Fantastic place and personell! A true relaxing paradise! Everything was perfect!
- Maria (10/5): - We loved the view and the breakfast! Niente
Sauberes Zimmer in gepflegter Anlage.
- Anderson Rogerio (8/5): -
- Suman (10/5): Pierluigi, the host, was friendly and helpful. He provided me with helpful advice abut the property, places to visit, re - The property is situated around midway up of a small hill, filled with olive trees and overlooking the Adriatic sea. Property is gated (secure), well maintained and the room where I stayed was fantastic, with its own little patio overlooking the sea. The swimming pool was nice and well maintained. The Wifi was very good. Lots of bees, busy collecting honey from the flowers.
If you are looking for some place for a bit of peace and calm with nice views, this is well worth a look. It is situated close to the town of Ostuni (around 12 km away from the town). I think this will be a good base to cover charming cities and towns like Monopoli, Polignano a Mare, Ostuni, Ceglie Messapica, Alberobello, Lecce, and Bari (I did all of those except for Bari). I even managed to visit Matera, which is about 140 km from here. Note that you will need to have a car as this property is situated in a secluded area with no shops nearby. There’s a big Lidl around 12 kms from the property. Nothing.
Gerne wieder.
- Keely (10/5): - The host and the staff were so attentive and knowledgeable
- Warren (9/5): Great host and location, room very clean great shower. - Very friendly host drove us in to the local village
Great location and views
Fabulous breakfast
Clean room No notice we had to book evening meal prior to arrival meaning we had to travel to local village for food therefore taxis required if you want a drink
- Rhonda (10/5): Incredible and very peaceful. - This place is incredibly inviting and the attention to detail was amazing. Rooms are beautiful and have lovely patios with sofas, deck chairs and also a fridge.
The staff are very friendly, breakfast is delicious. The pool is a real bonus with fantastic views to the sea. There’s nothing to dislike.
- Rudolf (10/5): -
- Michelle (10/5): Well operated accommodations, family operated with a great location - Very gorgeous location with great views and lovely pool area. Staff very friendly and attentive. Room was clean and all items operated well including AC. Lunch was excellent
Locatie ontbijt super. Ontbijt zelf is lekker. niets
- Christopher (10/5): - Great hospitality from Luigi and Angelo. They made our stay very comfortable and special with good recommendations for the nearby area. Great view of the countryside from the pool.
- MFedatto (9/5): A peaceful countryside escape with warm hosts, stunning views, and just a couple of small quirks - The room was spacious and had a very comfortable bed, with a lovely bathroom — although the shower was really tiny. The property itself is beautiful, charming — surrounded by olive trees with stunning views of the coast and countryside. The pool and breakfast area are gorgeous, and the breakfast itself was excellent: fresh homemade ingredients, great coffee, and plenty of variety (still dreaming about the ricotta and the cheesecakes). Luigi was a wonderful host — he even upgraded us to a better room at no extra cost because he was concerned about the baby (if only he knew how much we travel and how many Ibis-style hotels our little one has stayed in!). Angelo is just the sweetest! This is the perfect place to switch off, slow down, and really relax. Two small things to note: the restaurant is only open for breakfast and lunch, and the agriturismo is in the middle of nowhere (which is part of the charm and exactly why you’d stay here). Since we had a baby, it would have been helpful to have some facilities in a common area to prepare or warm food, as it’s not so easy to pop in and out of the property. We had a great lunch at the restaurant, but it was very pricey compared to other excellent places we visited in the region (including another winery/agriturismo). There’s also no menu, which makes the experience more informal, but you don’t know in advance what you’ll be paying for.
Immense merci !
- Marinus (10/5): Superb stay in the olive gardens, luxury and perfect staff - Great infinity pool with view over the valley. Staff is super friendly and is making fabulous meals for the costumers. The breakfast is stunning and presented with local specialities and home made pastries. All perfect
- Claudio (10/5): Very good place to stay, in the country side and near the beaches and some attractions. - Very Good Breakfast, the pool and the silence. Nothing

- Gay (10/5): This facility is exceptional and very well situated to visit the sights of Puglia. - The facility is awesome with beautiful, clean accommodations and fantastic views. The breakfast was exceptional and the best we experienced on our trip. The hosts were extremely helpful and went out of their way to assist us.; I cannot think of anything that I would recommend to be changed.
- Juliana (10/5): Amazing family run masseria that feels like your own home - The service was outstanding. The entire team went out of their way to ensure we were comfortable and happy.
They helped us plan our day trips as there is so much to see in the area.
Amazing view, delicious food and all set in a working olive Grove. Booking.com listing stated double room included coffee machine and kettle but this was not accurate. More am issue with description accuracy as the room was great and we could get drinks at anytime from the pool bar.
- Alice (10/5): Tranquil elevated setting in olive groves - The location was so close to all the pretty towns & villages in area. The breakfast was amazing, freshy baked tarts & cakes, fresh ricotta & mozerella, plus you could order scrambled eggs. The lunch salads were delicious too. We got lots of helpful tips on things to do & places to eat from the host. It was hot, so the large swimming pool was great. Nothing
- Nicolas (10/5): Amazing experience in a beautiful location - Wonderful accommodation in a beautiful location. Everything was very clean. The breakfast and lunch were delicious! The staff is very friendly and helps you with everything.
- Simon (10/5): Location and staff made it a wonderful relaxing holiday - Property is exquisite, located in an olive tree paradise with all the peace and quiet to relaxe /
- Darren (10/5): Perfect place to stay. - Setting was stunning, room was clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was superb, offered in the building beside the pool area, great choice, all fresh with home-made cakes, pastries and preserves.
the host and staff were friendly, very helpful and couldn't do enough for you. Perfect place to stay.
- Uros (10/5): Masseria Spetterata is a stunning estate where warm, exceptionally hospitable staff create an unforgettable retreat amid - Masseria Spetterata is a captivating estate that delivers an idyllic retreat. The property blends rustic charm with modern comforts, offering everything a traveler could desire: warm, attentive staff, serene tranquility, swift access to enchanting nearby towns, and sweeping views of the Puglian coastline. The owner, Pierluigi, elevates the experience with his genuine hospitality, ensuring every guest feels welcomed and valued. A passionate expert on southern Italian history, local ecology, and cuisine, he enriches stays with fascinating insights and personalized recommendations.
While the nearby town of Montalbano is understated, it boasts a few restaurants serving authentic regional dishes and exceptional local wines at remarkable value. A short drive away, the charming hilltop town of Cisternino stole our hearts with its vibrant atmosphere and historic allure. The masseria’s inviting pool, set against the olive-laden landscape, is a highlight, though the water was too chilly for a dip during our visit.
Mornings begin with a delightful breakfast buffet showcasing fresh, local specialties, including creamy mozzarella and velvety ricotta sourced from nearby farms. The staff’s dedication shines through, eagerly accommodating special requests with a smile. Enhancing the experience, Pierluigi recently introduced Starlink, ensuring seamless WiFi connectivity and impressive bandwidth across the property. The final few hundred meters to Masseria Spetterata unfold along a charming gravel road, adding a touch of rustic adventure to your arrival. While it may feel a bit rugged after rain, this short stretch is easily navigable and enhances the authentic countryside experience. It’s a minor quirk that adds character to the journey and shouldn’t deter anyone from booking this exceptional property. Opting for an SUV can turn this brief drive into a fun, scenic prelude to your stay!
- Marianne (8/5): Very good -
- Silvia (10/5): An idyllic place to explore the Val d’Itria. - The setting is fantastic. A little oasis among olive trees. The owner and staff were extremely kind and helpful. Breakfast was wonderful. Close to many pretty towns to visit. An excellent experience. A little hard to find. Coming back at night the road is a bit rough.
- Veronica (8/5): Nice views, great breakfast, lovely staff - The room was big, clean and comfortable bed, nice bathroom. The property itself is really nice, surrounded by olive trees and has lovely views of the coast and countryside. The staff were really nice and the breakfast was very good, great coffee. The pool and breakfast area are lovely. Pierluigi was a great host and Angelo is amazing, they both had lots of local recommendations for exploring and meals. We found it difficult to rate this property because it didn't meet our expectations on some things but overall it was a nice place. We booked and paid a higher rate for this property because it had a restaurant as we didn't want to go out for our evening meals, but when we got there the restaurant was only open for breakfast and lunch. There was no kettle or tea and coffee making facilities in the room as advertised on booking.com. The road to the property is not great, narrow and rough in areas, but this is common in the area. We found that while it was a very tranquil location we could hear the other guests and it was too noisy for us.
- Barbara (9/5): Very comfortable, peaceful stay in the countryside. - It was very beautiful with fantastic views. We were welcomed like one of the family. Breakfast was good and very sociable. The staff were very helpful. There is limited eating options in the nearby - small - town so we ate at lunchtimes.
- Colin (10/5): Fab location and pool, will be back. - Angelo and Pierluigi were so friendly and helpful in making our stay excellent. road to hotel is bumpy
- Cheryl (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (10/5): Exceptional -
- Aleksandar (10/5): A feeling of freedom and carelessness. - Amazing place with stunning views of the sea and gorgeous sunsets. The pool is brilliant with a constant breeze making all the difference in the summer heat. The host is very friendly and helpful with countless suggestions of places to visit. Breakfast is great. We had an amazing time.
- Rosa (10/5): Exceptional - Angelo and Pierluigi were great. Angelo for tourist info and places to go and Pierluigi for making our stay comfortable.
The accommodation was in a good location for us, it was central to the places we wanted to visit. It was also clean and bed comfy. The road was very bumpy and not great and could be more variety for breakfast.
- Andreas (10/5): Fascinating - true Italy! - We liked pretty much everything. The view, the host himself, the staff and the accomodation! Very friendly, very clean. Every wish we had, had been fulfilled. They have a nice breakfast. And if you want you can buy their self produced local olive oil. There were no negatives
- Rachel (10/5): This place is a real gem - a touch of paradise on earth! - Everything about this place is amazing! The breakfast had a great variety of foods with freshly cooked cakes and bread daily - everything was so delicious! The dining room is beautiful and overlooks the pool which is amazing and the scenery beyond is breath-taking. The staff led by Angelo are very kind, friendly and caring people. Angelo made recommendations daily of where the local markets were and where the best places to go were eg towns, beaches, restaurants. The olive groves are beautiful and carefully tended...their own olive oil is delicious and available for breakfast - we bought some to bring home and it's the best we've ever tasted! Pierluigi meets and greets all his guests and shares so much local knowledge with you, also giving recommendations of the best places and restaurants to visit. THANK YOU SO MUCH to Pierluigi, Angelo and the lovely ladies who made our honeymoon the most memorable occasion! There is nothing to comment on here - there was nothing that we didn't like.
- Sarah (10/5): Absolutely amazing! - A beautiful location overlooking olive groves with views of the Adriatic. The staff are absolutely wonderful! Incredibly friendly and helpful. The property is beautiful and secure. The room was comfortable and clean. There was nothing I didn’t like. This place was better than I expected.
- Stefan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marek (10/5): Exceptional vacation - Me and my wife had an amazing time in Masseria Spetterrata. We spent there 6 days. The place was exceptionally clean, had an amazing view over the surrounding areas and the sea. The host welcomed us with a tour around the place and a cold beer :) Every day the staff gave us suggestions to what we can do in the area and gave us tips regarding restaurants for different times of the day in various cities (eg Monopoli, Polignano a Mare, Ostuni, Matera, Cisternino, Locorotondo) and those restaurants were truly exceptional!
The rooms were cleaned every day. The pool are was realy nice. We definitely recommend it! NA
- Stefano (10/5): True Salento experience - Location, quite and peaceful.
Very well maintained and clean
Host Pierluigi is very helpful and the staff is very attentive Only minor issue some noise made by the fridge in the room, we informed them and they looked into it
- Mcinerney (10/5): Magic stay - Masseria Spetterrata is a wonderful place to stay. It is beautiful, clean, spacious and peaceful. Pierluigi could not be more helpful and friendly. His small team are lovely. Breakfasts by the pool are fabulous and delicious. Our 5 day stay was magical. The only thing we could have wished for was a restaurant on site. Failing that, Pierluigi organised delicious cold dinners for us to eat on our terrace.
- Julia (10/5): Perfect - we loved it very much! - Everything great - very peaceful location- great owner!!!
- Allan (8/5): An excellent place to relax for a day or two - Well maintained, very relaxing. Angelo was very friendly and prepared a great pasta and prawn lunch. It lacked a community atmosphere. In the evenings it wasn’t possible e.g. to get ice for a drink.
- Cyriel (10/5): Stunning and perfect stay in Puglia - Masseria Spetterrata is amazing. Nothing we could think of to be improved: the view is stunning, the location is perfect to make day trips to all the must sees in the area. The owners are more then helpful and nice. The rooms are very clean and so is the infinity pool. All you could wish for. We booked 2extra nights. Better then this it won’t be. Thanks a lot Pierluigi , Angelo, Chiara and Mr Fox who only shows up at night. We will be back for sure. Nothing!
- Matthew (10/5): A lovely farmstay in a great location to explore Puglia, with wonderfully friendly staff - The location was excellent for exploring the local towns, although you ideally need a car to get around. The place itself was lovely, with a wonderful view over the coast. Pierluigi and the rest of the staff were incredible, so helpful and friendly, knowing our names from day 1 and being so personable and lovely. The breakfast was also excellent N/A
- Matteo (10/5): Relaxing and friendly with excellent food! - Food: The breakfast is always different with 2 new cakes of the day each day and always good. Lunches are as good as (or even better) than what you would find in well-known restaurants in the area and the staff is ready to tailor-made according to your needs.
Staff: Excellent staff, always friendly and willing to help within and outside the Masseria (with tips on where to go).
Location: Located near all main tourist destinations (Locorotondo, Ostuni, Martina France and Alberobello). All are anywhere between 15-40 min drive. Nothing really. Just the road to get there can be tricky at night but after a few times you get used to it. It is perhaps the tricky road that makes it more romantic and located in a very quiet place.
- Mohammad (10/5): Exceptional - Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Any time of day they were all available to answer any questions, and provide great recommendations in the area.
- Sandro (9/5): Masseria Spetterrata - Wonderfully situated Masseria with beautiful view. We loved chilling at the pool. Pierluigi, Angelo and Barbara were very nice and helpful.
- Rowe (10/5): Relaxing 4 nights in a beautiful setting. Absolutely loved it and looked forward to breakfast every morning to have a ch - Really lovely layout. Really quiet and really well maintained. The staff were exceptional. The breakfast was lovely and the pool is clean with a great view. A kettle in the bedroom would be nice to have a tea before bed. Most places to visit are 30 mins away so you definitely need a car.
- Maria (10/5): Amazing experience - can’t wait to come back! - Everything about this stay was perfect. The entire experience was phenomenal, from beginning to end.
The beds were comfortable, the breakfast was delicious and the coffee is locally sourced from Puglia!

We’re counting down the days until we can come back!
- Monika (10/5): Exceptional - Wonderful setting and facilities and lovely, helpful staff. Very minor issue with room was promptly solved for the rest of the stay. Very tasty lunch options. We stayed during a heatwave, so the pool (with a lovely view) came in very handy and was extensively used by us. The location is also excellent with several wonderful villages and sights nearby. Recommended on all fronts! Nothing!
- Luigi (10/5): Amazing masseria with top notch staff. Always making sure you were happy - The location is excellent. On a hillside, close to many interesting spots in Puglia. And with an amazing view. Angelo and Barbara were always there to either offer the best cappuccino or suggest places to eat in the nearby towns. Pierluigi made sure everything was beyond expectations. Nothing really.

- Valentine (10/5): Best place to stay in Puglia - We stayed 8 nights at Masseria Spetterrata and we loved it.
Everything was perfect.
- the Masseria is beautiful, in the middle of the Olive trees, the parc around is well cared with attention to every details. View on the sea on the background, in front of the room.
The rooms are nicely decorated with typical Apulian style. And the bed was super comfortable. Our room was cleaned every day.
The swimming pool is really nice and super clean.
- Breakfast was perfect : local products: mozzarella, ricotta, fresh tomatoes, salami, Italian ham from Martina Franca city, etc. And a special mention to the homemade tarts from the auntie. Everyday a new one! So delicious!!
- but what we enjoyed most was the team: Pierluigi the owner, really kind and helpful. And his team: Barbara, Angelo and the auntie. They were really nice and funny but without being too intrusive. We felt like family. They gave us good advices for restaurants and activities but we also learnt some facts about Apulian traditions and histories.
To conclude, we can just say that we will surely come back to stay at this Masseria and we advise it with closed eyes to anybody who wants to visit Puglia. Nothing comes to my mind. It was all perfect.
- Chowdhury (10/5): Serene & relaxing Masseria with very helpful staff - we spent 2 nights here on our trip to puglia. The place is tucked away in the hills, not easy to find but Angelo came and helped us find our way to the masseria. The place is extremely clean and has beautiful views - the stars of the place are Angelo and Barbara who were so friendly, helpful and suggested on what to do and eat during our trip (Barb even made reservations as we dont speak italian). The owner, PierLuigi, was also extremely helpful and helped us with the must see/do activities. We spent one morning walking around the area and saw many hiking trails/hikers there. We loved our stay at the masseria!
- Spm (8/5): Nice stay - nice view from the swimming pool, very nice staff we were there at the end of september, the water of the swimming pool was too cold to swim. For this level of accomodation, we would expect tea/coffee facilities in the room.
- Anonymous (9/5): We had a fantastic time at masseria spetteratta, beautiful property to enjoy nature and well located to explore Puglia. - Natural settings with a stunning view of the ocean. Close to tourist sites and beaches. Great breakfast. Staff was extremely helpful and gave us good recommendations on where to eat and spend our days.
- Cam (8/5): only one night and should have stayed longer for local sights. great location for day trips. - located within olive groves and lovely views over the countryside. fantastic host who provided background info. great pool area. nice breakfast and staff. little tired.
