Guest Reviews
- Lara (8/5): Muy bien - El personal súper amable y atento.
- Arnaud (7/5): - Hosts are kind and helpful!
The breakfast was amazing and the parking is free next to the hotel.
The location is close to the lagoon and the hiking paths
3 blanket is needed.. It's really cold.
No control of warm water in the bathroom.
We couldn't open any windows, there is a cheminey but there are no detectors for smoking and it could be dangerous if you sleep with that.
And we didn't have the same furniture as the other rooms + the walls paintings are used.

- Elke (10/5): Amazing - The host was really warm and welcoming. He gave us a lot of helpful info on things to do in the area. Perfect location at a less than 5-min walk to the mirador. The food, both dinner and breakfast, was amazing. Strong wifi. Hot shower. Nothing.
A cargo. Pésima atención
- Elizabeth (8/5): Good place ro stay in Quilotoa - Very friendly and keen to help. Tasty food, try the hot chocolate. It is delicious!
Big room and comfy bed. It would be good to be able to open the windows for ventilation or improve air circulation somehow.
- iretas (9/5): -
- Emily (10/5): Lovely stay in Quilatoa - We really enjoyed our stay here. The owner was. Incredibly friendly and helpful, the beds were warm and comfy, breakfast was very generous and we really appreciated all the veggie options in the dinner menu. No
- Gilday (10/5): Comfy bed, great room, great breakfast, great service! - Fireplace in our room which they started for us around 6pm. Very convenient to heat up the room. The breakfast was INCREDIBLE and the best hostel breakfast i’ve had in ecuador. Spider in the bathroom.
- Philip (10/5): - The bed was very comfortable and I had a good sized room with a potbelly stove to keep me warm. It's a cold location but the staff lit the potbelly each evening. Ronald is a super friendly and helpful host. Breakfast is good and so are the other meals, especially pizza. Good value and highly recommended.

- Diego Rojas (10/5): - Great room and breakfast included
- Benavides Pobre (10/5): -
Super lit, grand, chaud.
- Edward (4/5): - The bed was warm and comfortable. Great value. The hot water worked well. Not the most comfortable stay. When we arrived after our tough hike in there was no one at reception, and with limited WiFi/data, it was hard to get in contact with anyone. Eventually the owner was relatively responsive on WhatsApp, but we mostly interacted with adolescents who were managing the place during our stay, and couldn’t really provide much information during a very uncertain time with political demonstrations and paros. We were the only ones in a three-bed room so luckily were able to switch beds when we found stains on our first choice. The fireplace isn’t very efficient and causes the room / all your stuff to smell like smoke. It seems the town is full of taxi pickup truck drivers trying to take advantage of you, including one who hung out in the common area and was very persistent with us. We denied him at night but he came to our room to try to get our business the following morning and continued to follow us around the town offering new deals when we said we weren’t interested.

- Read (6/5): Fine - The location of the hotel was a short walk to the view spot of Quilotoa. 2 shops nearby to buy snacks, drinks, and basics. The room was nice with a little fireplace which they came and lit for us, comfy bed with warm bedding which we needed. The hotel was nice. The lightbulb didn't work in our room, which we only discovered arriving back in the dark and they transferred us to a different room. We arrived and no one was there, we waited for awhile but still no one came. We had to wander the street outside looking lost until someone came to help. The info said we could get dinner there but they said the restaurant was closed and pointed us to a different place to eat. We came down in the morning to get breakfast and there was none despite being advertised, asked about a bus back to Latacunga but they did not seem to know. We went for a quick walk to the view and when we came back to pay no one was around again so after waiting for a bit we just left the money on the counter and left.

- Emmanuel (5/5): -
- Miya (9/5): Nice cozy stay in Quilotoa - The owner is very sweet. He had the fire going so the room was toasty. The bed was comfy, breakfast was big and tasty, shower was hot. Great stay. Shower was slow to drain
- Jazmin (10/5): - Soooo close to the Quilotoa crater, very beautiful!
- Sebasthian (10/5): -
- Wilfrido (10/5): - La amabilidad todo super el lugar
- Franziska (9/5): Superb - Nice, big beds, big blankets, nice included breakfast, friendly staff, 5 minutes from the volcano/ lake It gets very cold, they only put the fire on one of my two nights (and that night it went out when I tried to keep it alive but I guess that's on me)
- Kristen (8/5): Good stay for the price! - Great location. Good food and nice staff.
- Emely (1/5): Bad - The worst hostel in all of Ecuador
- Hannah (2/5): Can not recommend - - Pizza was really good
- Right next to the Quilotoa Crater
- Warm shower water for ~2 minutes but very low pressure (not good for washing hair) The worst thing for us was, that you are very dependent on the staff and they make you feel like a nuisance every time you have to ask for something. However, you don't get matches to light your own fire, so you have to ask every time and the wood is not dry, so the oven will be out again after ~20-30 minutes, because the bigger logs will not have started to burn by then. Given the very cold temperature, it makes the whole stay incredibly uncomfortable. It also does not feel like anyone actually enjoys working there. They gave out false information (e.g. bus schedules), didn't tell us, that they will not have dinner service that evening although we had asked at around lunch time and so on.
Additional minus point: There was hair in our food
- Luis (7/5): Good -
- Adrien (10/5): Excellent stay - Great place to stay in Quilotoa. The room was very big and the bed super confortable. There is a stove in case it gets too cold. Large bathroom with very hot water. Hot tea and coffee always available at reception and also water, which is quite rare here. At night they also have a restaurant with excellent pizzas and a selection of vegetarian dishes. Breakfast was also great with quite a lot. Lastly everyone was super friendly, I really had a great stay.
- Bethan (8/5): Lovely people, lovely nature. Recommend! - If you want a peaceful experience in nature, this is it. Don't expect mod cons, this is how the locals live so respect it. Its super close to the crater, its beautifully breath taking. Go.
- Carolin (10/5): Exceptional - Close to the busstation and close to the hikingtrail. The owner and the staff are really friendly. The breakfast was the best i had on my total travel! The dinner/ lunch they offer is good aswell. Nice to have hot tea all the time.
Its a bit cold there (cause of the high altitude), but they have warm blankets and an oven in the room.
- Silvana (10/5): Exceptional - location
Comfort
Friendly staff
- Dermer (9/5): Superb -
- Susy (7/5): Superb location, great breakfast and staff - The location is superb. Doesn't get better than this. The staff were very kind, polite and accomodating. The breakfast was delicious and an added bonus! My little wood burner/fireplace burnt out twice within 1.5 hours. They were really nice coming up to my room to get it going again, but it wouldn't stay lit. When I asked for matches, they gave me the flimsiest matches I've ever seen! I couldn't even light them up. I spent the night cocooned under my sheets in zero degree temperatures! Also, the shower either has scalding water or freezing cold. Took the quickest shower of my life. Despite all these things, I would stay there again due to the location, the lovely staff and the breakfast. It's probably the best you're gonna get in this small town, so I appreciated all the positive things about this place.
- Jiří (3/5): ….. it is my first really bad reference but we didn’t like it at all. Hotel is for sale and they do not fix anything - This was the worst accommodation on our trip through Central and South America. The owner was nice, smiling, always gave us water when we asked, and there was good wifi... but otherwise the accommodation is terrible. Also the breakfast was good… The ceilings in the rooms are wet with mold - the house is not finished and the floor above the rooms has no roof, so it rains and moisture leaks in. The plaster in the rooms is falling off, so we had to move the bed so that it wouldn't fall on us. There was a layer of old dirt on the bathroom door. There was no shelf or cupboard in the room where we could put our clothes. We had to put everything on the floor and everything was damp and cold. Luckily there was hot water. The restaurant is uncomfortable and cold in it... we didn't feel like spending our evenings there at all and we preferred to go to another hotel for food and spend the evening in a warm and nice environment. We definitely do not recommend this hotel to anyone.
- Douglas (10/5): You just have to see this - Breathtaking location, delicious breakfast, quiet, wood stove in room…needed it, charming and amiable host, coffee/tea always available, comfy bed with flannel sheets and down comforter. Love the location, just froze my butt off at the end of May.
- O'reilly (10/5): Exceptional - The manager of the hostel was very helpful and welcoming. He fosters a very warm atmosphere and connection with and amongst the guests. There was nothing that I was unhappy about.
- Robbie (10/5): Great place to stay with excellent food, parking , lively hot showers etc etc . - Roman the manager is fantastic- so helpful & very good English speaker. I loved the little pot belly fireplace in my room as arrived on a cold / rainy day. Nothing
- Mirkka (10/5): Exceptional - The staff was super helpful and nice The fact that the bathroom got clogged
- Calsie (3/5): Poor - Toilets and shower were overflowing
- Camila (10/5): Exceptional - I had an excellent experience. The location is perfect central yet peaceful, and the ambiance is cozy and welcoming. My room was spacious, comfortable, and featured a fireplace that I enjoyed using daily.
The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Special thanks to Ronald, who assisted me with walking routes, transportation, and even arranged a guide for me. The breakfast was generous and delicious, and the overall atmosphere made me feel right at home.
I highly recommend this place to anyone.
- Roman (8/5): Good place to stay - Nice and always helpful staff, especially the administrator who serves delicious breakfasts included in price. Free coffee and tea. Good working wood stove in every room. Good WiFi. Great hot shower. Also nice restaurant on-site where good dishes are served. The whole building suffers from several leakage, so the water was spotted also in our bathroom. The fire stove, although is great solution for such condition, could be accompanied with some racks on which ones could hang their clothes and shoes to be dried out. Everyone comes to this place for a trek and so they likely catch rain and come back soaked to the bone. Good tip would be not to throw toilet paper into the toilets because they clog more than easy.
- Delia (10/5): Exceptional - The room, the staff, the fireplace, the breakfast, the location The pizza
- Billy (10/5): Cozy and comfortable stay, amazing staff. - The place has very cozy atmosphere and amazing staff. Beds were comfortable, hot water in the shower and little fireplace kept room warm. After getting absolutely soaked during hike we enjoyed delicious dinner and glass of wine as well as great company of staff and fellow travellers. Breakfast was delicious and generous. Would definitely recommend staying here. We have no negative things to mention about the place.
- Kathryn (9/5): Superb -
- Mikhail (10/5): Exceptional - i only needed a place to sleep for 1 night but after that night i extended my stay for a week because of how cozy this place is. having a stove in a room is the best. wi-fi is good if you need to work. easy 10
- Wendy (4/5): Disappointing - Ronald, the only staff was helpful and kind. The town is like "a ghost town" there's not much going on. The place is so cold at night that we had to keep putting wood in the woodstove they had in the room the whole night, so we were not able to get a good night of sleep plus the smell of smoke was unpleasant.
- David (9/5): Good hotel on nice place - Good location just 5 min to lagoon entrance. Hosts very helpful trying to help all the time. Good thing stove in room especially when is cold. Good breakfast
- Natalia (10/5): Perfect place to stay in Quilotoa - Cabañas Quilotoa is an absolute must when visiting the area! The place is stunning, peaceful, and incredibly welcoming. Our room even had a cozy fireplace! :D
The breakfast was outstanding—hearty, delicious, and wonderfully prepared.
A special thank you to the hotel team for their warmth and hospitality; they truly make you feel at home.
We will always recommend this place to anyone visiting Quilotoa!
- Martha (10/5): We only stayed for one night but we would definitely go back. The hostel is so cozy and the guy who runs it is so lovely -
- Ross (10/5): Exceptional -
